The concern, is that Kia recently (2023) recalled the BMS (and potentially the HV Battery) for vehicles as old as 2015 on the Koa Soul EV, and their warranty on said parts is 10 yrs or 100k miles. The concern is that there is no extended warranty period FOR the cars. So if the cars fail again within a yr, you end up paying out of pocket for the repairs. There are plenty of forum posts that talk about their batteries being replaced with re-manufacturered, only to need to be teplaced AGAIN within less than a yr. I think Kia needs to be forced to extend the warranty on these batteries to cover any potential future issues.

On April 11,2024, I attempted to drive my Soul EV out of the parking lot of my place of employment going less than one block only to have the power severely limited (from a speed of 40mph to 15mph on a busy road at rush hour). Headlights turn off after using the turn signal switch. Started happening once in a while but now it happens not only after using the turn signal switch but the headlights will turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on. Kia issued recall 23V218 in relation to the High Voltage Battery being able to short curcut and catch fire. They don't know for sure the cause, nor do they have a remedy in place yet. I bought this vehicle new (under 3k miles) from the dealer Kiefer Kia. The very next day I brought the car back as there were obvious problems with it immediately. I have had several issues with my car. The check engine light is on, and now my traction control light comes on all the time now. When that happens my car won't tact. I had auto zone check out the check engine light, was told it was the catalytic converter. My mechanic changed my oil and told me to start checking my oil every 500 miles, that it was consuming oil. I paid Kia 170.00 to confirm what auto zone told me. So I average a quart of added oil every 750 to 1000 miles. I see no point in replacing the catalytic converter until we know what is going on with the engine. This started at 113,000 miles, my car has 127.000 now. My oil is burning and it's been changed several times and is BLACK the next day plus my electrical system is messed up

I have a check engine light on vehicle. Have started to notice drag and acceleration problems, loss of fuel mileage since check engine light appeared. Had code diagnosed and got a failed catalytic converter code. Also a previous Mass Air Flow code. There are recall notices based on this issue. My VIN is not populating that this is an issue however in a search. There are multiple complaints for this code. My fuel consumption has gone from 32 to 26 on highway and jerky acceleration, and hood is very warm to touch after turning off engine.

I’ve had my check engine light come on ever since I bought the vehicle and the code is for catalytic converter, my car overheats and does not properly shift right engine is very shaky and unstable while driving on the road. At busy intersection was stopped for red light. When light turned green put foot on gas and car would not move more then 5 miles per hour. No warning lights on dashboard. Was able to get to side of road. Has car towed to mechanic close by, they said both catalytic converter would have to be replaced $4,700. Strange to have this kind of damage fir car under75,000 miles. Looked up recalls and KIA had one fir that year of car. Recall number: SC176 Had car towed to closest KIA dealer in Gladstone Oregon. They said the engine showed damage and would $8,700 to fix. Said recall or the warranty would not cover cost. Warranty for up to #100,000 and recall states recall could cause engine damage.

Driving the car up the 101 Cuesta Grade and lost acceleration. The speedometer went to zero and as the car died I pulled to the right side of the freeway / grade. Smoke started to enter my vehicle. A car stopped in front of me and one behind and the people ran from their cars to tell me to get out of my car as my front engine underneath was on fire. WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON A HIGHWAY, MY KIA SOUL SPONTANEOUSLY BURST INTO FLAMES UNDERNEATH A STRANGER STOPPED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER LUCKILY. FIRE DEPT SAYS HAD WE NOT USED THE EXTINGUISHER, MY CAR QUITE LIKELY WOULD HAVE EXPLODED. PRIOR TO INCIDENT, I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS ON, NO OIL LEAK, OIL NEEDED CHANGING SOON BUT WASN'T TOO LOW. THERE WAS NO COLLISION.

WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL I NOTICED THAT THE CAR DOES NOT STAY AT A CONSISTENT SPEED ESPECIALLY GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS. THE VEHICLE LOSES SPEED WITHIN A 10 TO 20 MILE PER HOUR RANGE.

WHILE DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD CAME TO A STOP AND WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AND I WAS PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL, 5 SECONDS LATER MY CAR ACCELERATED REALLY FAST AND SUDDENLY AND I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ENGINE ABRUPTLY FAILED ON FREEWAY AND IS NO LONGER OPERATING. I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AS I EXITED THE FREEWAY. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING KNOCKING NOISES AND JERKED. I PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM DIRECTLY OFF THE FREEWAY. THIS WAS A WELL MAINTAINED AND OPERATED VEHICLE WITH SERVICE RECORDS TO PROVE IT.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE UP TO BENSON KIA TO GET RECALLS REPAIRED ON MY 2015 KIA SOUL. THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER DUE TO A RECALL AND I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICING STATION AT BENSON KIA THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. BEFORE I DROVE MY VEHICLE OFF THE LOT THE RATTING NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE BEFORE I DROVE OFF THE LOT. THE MECHANIC BRENT LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS THE RESONATOR MAKING THE NOISE AND IT IS FROM A BUILD UP OF GAS FUMES FROM THE EXHAUST. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE RESISTOR FALLS OUT OF WARRANTY. PRIOR TO GETTING THE RECALLS REPAIRED I NEVER HEARD THE NOISE. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT WANTING TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THEM...

I TOOK MY 2015 KIA SOUL TO MIAMI LAKES KIA TWICE IN DECEMBER 2019, TO CHECK A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT, MORE CONSISTENTLY WHEN TURNING RIGHT. I RETURNED MY CAR A WEEK LATER AND TOOK A TEST RIDE WITH TWO TECHNICIANS, ONE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THE THE NOISE NEEDED TO BE LOUDER FOR THEM TO REPAIR IT. CAR WOULD NOT START WHEN START BUTTON DEPRESSED. LIGHTS ON DASH AND RADIO COME ON BUT CAR WILL NOT START BY PUSHING ON BUTTON EITHER WITH FINGER OR SMART KEY. IN THE PAST, THE CAR HAS EVENTUALLY STARTED BUT NOT TODAY. DEALERSHIP HAS CHECKED CAR TWICE WITH NO CORRECTVE ACTION EVEN SUGGESTED. THEY SAY THE HAVE NO IDEA FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE CAR ALWAYS STARTS AT THE SHOP. THEY SUGGEST HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP WHEN FAILURE OCCURS AND HOPE THE CAR WILL NOT START WHEN IT GETS TO SHOP. THE BATTERY IS NEW. CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR ROUTINE MAINTAINENCE TUESDAY, IT IS THURSDAY AND THE CAR WILL NOT START AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS. ON TWO OCCASIONS I SAT THE SMART KEY IN THE CUP HOLDER AFTER A FAILED ATTEMPT AND THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE START BUTTON OR HAVING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL....

MY 2015 KIA SOUL BASE MT IS HAVING TROUBLE STARTING THE KEY WON'T TURN OVER THE IGNITION. OR THE IGNITION WILL TURN AND GET STUCK TO WHERE YOU CAN JUST PULL THE KEY OUT

WHILE GETTING READY FOR A 160 MILES TRIP, A FRIEND OF MINE CHECK THE ENGINE OIL AND FOR OUR SURPRISE IT WAS OFF STICK..NO OIL BUT THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD NEVER GOT ON AS A WARNING. I TOOK IT TO WALMART AND YES, THEY MADE THE OIL CHANGE WITH THE NOTE ON PAPERS THAT IT HAD LITTLE OIL ONLY...WHY THIS HAPPENED ON A KIA SOUL 2015 WITH ALMOST 50,000 MILES?..I DON'T UNDERSTAND AND WHAT MIGHT HAPPENED IF I WERE GOING INTO THE 160 MILES TRIP WITHOUT OIL?..VERY RISKY..I THINK

CAR WON'T START WHEN COLD. IT HAPPENED WHEN IT HAS BEEN SITTING FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME OVER 3 OR 4 HOURS. CAN BE JUMPED TO START ,AND IF I CHARGE IT OVER NIGHT IT WILL START 2 OR 3 TIMES BUT WILL THEN NOT START. WHEN TRYING TO START IT MAKES A SERIES OF CLICKS AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL FLICKER. IT BEGAN THE WINTER OF 2018 AND WAS FINE ALL SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL. NOW THAT IT'S GETTING COLDER AGAIN IT IS BACK TO NOT WANTING TO START

THE CAR COMPUTER IS NOT REGISTERING THE CORRECT GEAR THE CAR IS PLACED INTO, THUS CAUSING THE CAR TO BYPASS CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURES. THE CAR'S POWER TRAIN, ELECTRIC SYSTEMS, AND FUEL SYSTEMS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AS A RESULT OF FAILING NEUTRAL SAFETY INHIBITOR. THE CAR READS THAT THE GEAR IS IN DRIVE INSTEAD OF PARK AND WILL NOT TURN OVER. THOUSANDS OF OTHER KIA CUSTOMERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUES SINCE 2010 WITH NO RESOLUTION. DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTERS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HELP THE CUSTOMERS BECAUSE THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS DO NOT PICK UP ON THIS SIGNAL FAILURE. THE SEND CAR OWNERS AWAY SAYING THE VEHICLE IS IN GREAT CONDITION ONLY FOR THE CAR TO STALL ON THE HIGHWAY UNEXPECTEDLY A FEW DAYS LATER.
