-Cylinder walls excessive engine oil consumption. My engine was replaced in June 2019 For my 2015 Kia Sorento. My vehicle presently and right before my 2019 engine replacement would drain oil, but no visible leaks. Smokey exhaust, and loud knocking sounds. Sludgy oil that regularly needs to be replaced. No horsepower or pick up to drive at normal speeds -Due to the oil depletion I was fearful of my vehicle catching fire. It recently stalled on the interstate. -Yes the problem was confirmed 2/24/2022. -Vehicle was inspected at Ed Voyles Kia dealership by a service technician -My vehicle was losing momentum. I was commuting to work and without any warning, no lights at all, the whole front of the car starts violently vibrating and making all sorts of metallic banging noise. I had it taken to the local KIA dealership where they diagnosed it was the Crankshaft and Connecting Rod Bearings.

Engine shut off without warning while driving. My wife was driving and Was able to roll off road thankfully. December 28, 2021 On Hwy 85 right next to Auburn, Alabama, on my way to Houston, Texas, I began to notice that as I accelerated with my 2015 KIA Sorento there was a sound as if my muffler had a hole in it. Kia is refusing to replace my engine related to a product improvement issued in 2018. I never received a notice about the required product improvement. The vehicle simply failed while I was driving. Car continually trying to over-heat. Had to keep pulling to shoulder every 1/4 mile or so, and letting car cool down again. Mechanic diagnosed as a head gasket problem, but upon further research it looks like it may have actually warped the engine block itself. When mechanic calls around to multiple junkyards, found many 2015 kia sorentos, but no engines available due to the same problem. Vehicle is at approx 133,000 miles, and Kia is stating that the vehicle is not in the extended engine warranties effected by this problem (apparently happens more so in another model of kia, I believe they said Optima, but I didn't pay that close of attention since my car is a Sorento.)

My vehicle had two safety recalls regarding the possibility of a sudden engine fire due to a defective Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). Additionally, in Milwaukee, theft of Kias has increased exponentially. The number of Kia models stolen increased 25 times higher in the first six months of 2020 by a gang calling themselves the "Kia Boys." The thefts have risen because Kia models 2011 or newer do not have an immobilizer which could prevent thefts. As a senior, my safety is placed at risk because of a combustible engine fire that could start without warning. Moreover, my vehicle is at risk of being stolen at any time because it lacks an immobilizer to prevent easy access. The engine failed and is available for inspection. My daughters and my safety were put at risk when trying to accelerate onto the interstate on ramp and was slow to do so. The car never made it to the speed limit and actually started slowing down. When trying to speed up it started making a knocking sound which ended up leaving us stranded on the side of the interstate on Easter Sunday, so there was more than the normal traffic. The engine light or any other warning lights came on before this happened. The engine was inspected by a Kia service center. And as this was a mechanical issue, the insurance would not do anything.

The cars engine started knocking while we were in a family vacation. Before we started driving I checked the oil and it was at the acceptable level. We turned around and began to drive home. When we reached the town next to home the engine started knocking horribly and stalled and stopped running. We had the car towed to a repair shop. Prior to receiving the Recall letter around mid-July 2021, we had complained to the dealership about the engine humming after a ride and AC going on and off On July 17, I was scheduled to visit the dealership and take care of the Recall. Although, I was scheduled for an appointment, nothing happened! The dealership did not have the component required for the recall. We then left and insisted to return the following day and requested that a diagnostic be conducted in addition to the recall on July 23. Vehicle is now un-drivable because of a P1326 code that is common in these Hyundai/Kia engines. Oil change was last done less than 2 months ago and an oil change plus facility. A campaign suggests this is a defect of the engine. There is a class action suite in favor of the owners of this and other vehicles with Hyundai/Kia engines.

Had engine replaced due to recall and now its doing the same thing as it was before the engine replacement by kia. I was going 65mph with cruise control active on the highway and all of a sudden it slowed me down to 20mph, check engine light blinking and went into limp mode. Will not go over 2000rpm and literally shifts like a standard when it is an automatic. This is such bull on having these issues, and doing the same crap as it did before the engine replacement which was done in March/April. I hope I dont have to keep driving it til it throws a rod like before in order to get it replaced and fixed. Kia is not a safe vehicle. I would like a rental.

Engine failure due to bad rod bearing. Kia will not fix the engine due to a software update not fixed previously. This vehicle was just purchased. A software update will not fix a premature engine failure. The update only turns on the check engine light if the knock sensor detects a knock.

I HAD MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE AND IT WAS VERY COLD. I WAS TOLD LATER THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND THERE WERE METAL SHARDS DISPERSED ALL OVER THE SYSTEM. WHEN I LOOKED INTO THIS ISSUE, MANY KIA VEHICLES HAVE HAD RECALLS ON ENGINES WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THESE RECALLS. MY VEHICLE HAS AROUND 70,000 MILES ON IT AND I STILL OWE 8000$ ON THE VEHICLE, WHILE MY REPAIRS WILL BE AROUND 6500$. I HAVE DONE ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE AND HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND FLUIDS CHECKED TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEIR SON WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE CONTACTS SON PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AFTER THE LIGHT TURN GREEN, THEY SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACTS SON PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACTS SON AND HIS GIRLFRIEND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED OVER STATED THEY SAW FIRE COMING FROM THE REAR UNDERNEATH OF THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER DRIVER HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE FROM THE UNDERNEATH THE FRONT HOOD AND UNDER THE VEHICLE. NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED FROM THE VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS INJURED, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DID ARRIVE TO THE SCENE BUT THERE WAS NO FIRE REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE NEXT DAY THE CONTACT...

AFTER MY 2015 KIA SORENTO SX WAS RECALLED FOR FAULTY ENGINE; IT WAS REBUILT. HOWEVER, MY CAR HAS RECENTLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING AND I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS ANOTHER ENGINE OIL LEAK. THEY CLAIMED TO REBUILD THE ENGINE, BUT I AM HAVING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES SINCE PURCHASING THIS CAR. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FIRE CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY HARM OR WORSE. VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. DAUGHTER IN-LAW WAS DRIVING VEHICLE. SHE MADE IT HOME WITH VEHICLE. MY SON LOOKED AT VEHICLE WHEN HE GOT HOME FROM WORK. HE FOUND OIL TO BE LOW, OIL WAS CHANGED IN JANUARY. NO SIGNS OF OIL LEAKING. HE REMOVED OIL FILTER AND FOUND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL. MY SON IS A SMALL ENGINE/DIESEL MECHANIC. HE HOOKED UP HIS CODE READER, ERROR READINGS WERE RELATED TO CYLINDER BANK. THEY HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO CLOSET KIA DEALER, ABOUT 70 MILES, VERDICT FROM DEALERSHIP NEEDS NEW ENGINE AT TUNE OF $10,000. MY SON CANNOT AFFORD A $10,000 REPAIR BILL, HE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME. I NOTICED MY 2015 KIA SORRENTO WAS IDLING VERY HARD. THIS STOPPED MOMENTARILY AND THEN BEGAN AGAIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. THE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE AND I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. UPON INSPECTING THERE WAS NO OIL LEAK BUT LITTLE TO NO OIL IN THE ENGINE AND NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS ROUTINELY OIL CHANGED AND MAINTAINED.

TOOK MY CAR TO THE MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION REGARDING LOW BEAM LIGHTS SHUTTING OFF WHEN I TURN ON THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS OCCURRED FREQUENTLY WHEN USING HIGH BEAMS. ALSO, MY HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS) CONSISTENTLY BURNT OUT. HAD TO INSTALL 2-3 NEW BULBS IN EACH HEADLIGHT (WITHIN 1 YR.). MECHANIC SAID PROBLEM IS MORE THAN JUST THE LIGHTS, THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS BAD AND NEEDED MORE WORK THAN WHAT THEY WERE WILLING TO DO AND RECOMMENDED ME GOING BACK TO KIA. DRIVING HOME FROM MY MECHANIC, I WAS ON THE SURFACE STREETS TO GET ON THE FREEWAY, A KNOCKING NOISE OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING, SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO THROW A ROD, WHICH LED ME TO CHECK THE OIL. MY OIL CHANGES ARE COMPLETED ON SCHEDULE AND WAS NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE FOR 3,000 MILES. THE OIL WAS BONE DRY. I PUT IN 4 QUARTS OF OIL...
