TO MY KNOWLEDGE CHRYSLER CORPORATION DID NOT NOTIFY OWNERS ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE PARTS OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I FOUND THIS INFORMATION OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR WINDOW REPAIR AT THE JEEP CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP (THE FARICY BOYS CHRYSLER, JEEP) ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2013. CHRYSLER KNEW ALL THE SIDE WINDOW PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE, BUT WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE WINDOW LIFT PLATES THAT WERE NOT WORKING ON THAT DAY. TWICE THE LEFT REAR WINDOW HAS FALLEN INTO THE DOOR DUE TO A REGULATOR WHICH WAS FAULTY AND ON THE THIRD OCCASION IS WAS THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW THAT FELL. LUCKY FOR ME, I WAS STOPPED WHEN MY WINDOWS DROPPED. WHEN THE PART FAILS, THE GLASS JUST FALLS DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE COST TO REPAIR IS $750. AT THE DEALER BECAUSE YOU MUST REPLACE THE WHOLE REGULATOR, YOU CANNOT REPLACE JUST THE FIFTY CENT PART. THE ALTERNATIVE WHICH MOST PEOPLE DO IS TO TAPE THE WINDOW GLASS UP WHICH OBSCURES THE VISION AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM THAT JEEP HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS. IMAGINE A MOTHER DRIVING WITH A CHILD IN THE REAR CAR SEAT IN A HEAVY RAINSTORM AND PASSES A TRACTOR TRAILER AT NORMAL SPEEDS....
RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED THE THE LEFT REAR WINDOW IN 2009, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS, WHICH CONFIRMED THE REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ONCE AGAIN THIS IS A DOOR THAT IS SELDOM USED AND THE WINDOW IS ALMOST NEVER USED. *KB
LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED. THIS DOOR IS SELDOM USED AND THE WINDOW HAD NOT BEEN ACTIVATED SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2006. CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPT. STATED THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. BECAUSE IT WAS "ONLY" 1200 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY, CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WOULD COVER ALL BUT $100 OF THE COST. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALED MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS OF THIS ISSUE. *KB
LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. DEALER SERVICE SAID THE REGULATOR WAS OK BUT THE LIFT PLATE WAS BROKEN. YET AGAIN, THIS IS A DOOR THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS AT A MINIMUM. CHRYSLER SERVICE REP WHO TOOK INITIAL CALL SAID THAT HE GETS LOTS OF CALLS FOR THIS ON 2005 & 2006 MODELS. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT MOST OF THE TIME IS IT IN DOORS THAT ARE SELDOM USED. CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER STATED THAT CHRYSLER IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS A SECURITY ISSUE. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR WINDOWS WOULD DROP DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANELS WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC ON FOUR OCASSIONS WHERE THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATORS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE WINDOW. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. FORM RETURNED NO CHANGE
THE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN IT SLID DOWN AN INCH BUT DID NOT KEEP GOING. WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT THE WINDOW BACK UP, IT DID NOT MOVE BUT THE MOTOR KEPT SPINNING. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I USUALLY HAVE MY CHILD RIDING IN THE BACKSEAT AND STUFF CAN FLY INTO THE CAR AND CAUSE INJURIES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED IT FOR AROUND $400. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AS BEING COMMON BUT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS GIVEN TO OLDER MODELS. I CALLED THE NATIONAL CHRYSLER HOTLINE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN NOT ESCALATE MY ISSUE UNLESS IT OCCURRED MORE OFTEN. *TR
WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN FROM JEEP LIBERTY 13 TIMES. WINDOWS WILL FALL WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY, AND UNEXPECTEDLY, FELL OPEN FROM THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION WITH A LOUD CRASHING SOUND. ONE OPEN IT WAS UNABLE TO BE RE-CLOSED. FAILURE IN THIS MANNER WAS VERY STARTLING AND CAN BE SEEN SEEN AS AN UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION WHICH, IN MY OPINION, CONSTITUTES A SAFETY HAZARD. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THE PART OF THE MECHANISM THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE WINDOW IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND FURTHER IS OF INSUFFICIENT DIMENSION TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE GLASS THROUGH REPEATED CYCLES. THE DEALER OFFERED ME THE SAME INADEQUATE PART AS REPLACEMENT WHICH IS DESTINED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY HAVE FAILED ONE AFTER THE OTHER . I HAVE NOW REPLACED ALL REGULATORS MORE THAN ONCE. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR POWER WINDOWS WERE INOPERABLE AND WERE UNABLE TO ROLL DOWN IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. THE CONTACT HAD THE SWITCHED REPLACED IN JUNE 2010; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. ALSO THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, CAUSING IT TO FALL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE SWITCH REPLACED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 97,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
I, LIKE MOST OTHERS OWNING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS THAT JEEP CONTINUES TO USE. I HAVE REPLACED TWO REAR WINDOWS WITHIN A WEEK COSTING ABOUT $1000.00 ON MY VEHICLE WHICH HAS LOW MILEAGE. I CONSIDER THIS A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE IS NO WARNING TO WHEN THE WINDOWS FAIL AND OBJECTS ENTER THE VEHICLE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH OR DEATH. *TR

YET AGAIN, A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR IN THE JEEP LIBERTY. I'VE HAD 2 WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS AND JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE FAULTY PART. *TR
THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS HAVE HAD THE REGULATORS BREAK - THE FIRST ONE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, THE SECOND THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME (EVEN THOUGH I HAD A WARRANTY IN EFFECT) AND THE THIRD WINDOW IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN PLACE BY GORILLA TAPE (THE VIEW OUT THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW IS FORTUNATELY NOT OBSCURED). THIS WINDOW STARTED FALLING IN WHEN WE HIT A BUMP DRIVING DOWN I-95 AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GIVEN THE HUGE NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL YEAR WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS, IT SEEMS INEVITABLE THAT THE WINDOW OF THE FINAL WINDOW WILL GIVE WAY AT SOME UNKNOWN POINT IN THE FUTURE. WHY JEEP HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. *TR
1. POWER WINDOWS - THREE OUT OF FOUR OF THE POWER WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT HAVE FALLEN WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. IT IS NOT WEAR AND TEAR BECAUSE I HARDLY USE THE BACK WINDOWS, IT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE AN INFANT DAUGHTER AND THIS IS A HAZARD FOR HER SINCE SHE HAS TO RIDE IN THE BACK. 2. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL OFF IT'S TRACK. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE OTHER TIMES INVOLVED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S WINDOW IN APRIL OF '07, AND THE LEFT REAR WINDOW IN JULY OF '08.. THE FIRST TWO WERE COVERED BY WARRANTY. OUR '06 JEEP IS ONE YEAR PAST THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY AND HAS ABOUT 22,000 MILES. I HAVE TALKED WITH TWO DEALERS AND THE CHRYSLER COMPLAINT LINE AND THE INFORMATION SO FAR IS THAT CHRYSLER, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS PERVASIVE ENOUGH THAT THEY ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN # 23-008-09 TO THE DEALERS ACKNOWLEDGING THE CHRONIC PROBLEM, WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND MAKES THE OWNER FOOT THE BILL. I HAVE SINCE BEEN ONLINE AND THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES BEING REPORTED. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO SUCK IT UP AND ISSUE A RECALL. PERIOD. *TR
