On the highway my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel briefly stalled and the check engine light came on. I then lost all power and could only maintain a speed of 45MPH in a 70MPH speed limit highway. I turned on my flashers and could not get off the road due to construction and Jersey barriers for several miles. When I had the opportunity I pulled off the side of the road and called to have my vehicle towed to a service facility. I was informed by the mechanic that scanned my car for trouble codes, a P0336-00 was set in my PCM. The mechanic informed me that I would have to take the vehicle to a Jeep Chrysler dealer. This is apparently a known issue with 2014 to 2018 Jeep Grad Cherokees equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine including RAM 1500s of the same vintage with the same diesel engine...

2015 jeep grand cherokees going into neutral on occasion while driving at speeds above 45mph. I brought my truck to jeep and expressed my concern about this safety issue and my safety. I was informed by jeep there is nothing wrong with my jeep since no codes are showing. I asked to speak to the mechanic and the mechanic told me that there is not one problem with that jeep and the 8 gear transmission is the most stable. He then said you probably put the jeep in neutral while driving. I was completely frustrated with his response and said to him, do you think I would put my jeep in neutral while driving 55mph and risk my life and possibly someone elses? I left the dealership very upset as you can imagine. A few days later it happened again and I contacted the jeep dealer to let them know...

"Check shifter" seems to come on almost everyday. From what I've gathered about it it could shift out of gear while driving. Could be a sensor or harness issue that I was told by a mechanic. No incident yet. This should be recalled as it seems to be a common issue with this Jeep.

WHEN STOPPING AND SUDDENLY ACCELRATING JEEP HAS A POWER DELAY AND YOU HAVE TO HIT THE THROTTLE AGRESSIVELY TO GET GOING OR ELSE I RUN THE RISK OF GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR, BUT ONCE YOU HIT THROTTLE THE POWER IS MORE THAN YOU NEED IT OR EXPECTED IT, FORCING ME TO BRAKE OR ELSE I HIT THE PCAR INFRONT OF ME. I AM STILL NOT ABLE TO MAKE THIS WORK. I PURCHASED THE CAR USED, I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND I BARELY USE IT BECAUSE I FIND IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AT TIME. THE POWER DOESNT COME WHEN I NEED IT BUT WHEN I DO ITS TOO MUCH, FEELS LIKE I FLOORED IT AND I HAVE MANAGED NOT TO CRASH BUT ITS SOMETHING SOMEONE SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

Th cylinder has low compression causing misfire in the vehicle. The misfire can cause the vehicle to lose power. If you lose power on a highway it could cause an accident. This has not happened to me, but I have read the cyinder issue is a common problem with the 2015 jeep grand cherokee Seems like bad parts. A mechanic has ascertained the problem with my vehicle. If this is a common problem why has the manufacturer not fixed the problem and inspected these parts?

Driving on highway 290 West near Waller. At 75mph I attempted to pass slower traffic by accelerating after moving into the farthest left (passing) lane when my Jeep lost power. Had to maneuver while coasting between traffic in lanes (frogger anyone?) to farthest right lane by coasting through to an exit by chance. Would not restart while coasting. Traffic line formed behind me for those also seeking same exit I needed at the last second. I was unable to fully move into shoulder because of debris seen and fear of damage to tires. After coasting to a full stop a quarter mile from Love's Truckstop, put vehicle in park, and was able to restart after hesitation. Engine light on with my reader stating "confirmed" codes P0336, U1401; and a "pending" code of P05ED. Now takes 3-5 seconds to start when used to be "instantly." In a nutshell, this was not...

The contact and his wife drove the vehicle several times and the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The car will shift into neutral and become undrivable. Had car towed and they say the part is a transmission control module/valve body #R8259301AC. They say this is a common problem for this model and have had many complaints of same issue. It has been 3 months and the part is not available. This seems to be a very serious and common safety issue.

Jeep issued a recall almost a year and a half ago, and have taken no action
#11535190 |
I was driving in the high and when I went to accelerate the vehicle went into “limp” mode. I made it to the closest dealership to get checked. The dealership explained to me the tone wheel delaminated and that is the reason my check engine light came on. The codes read camshaft position sensor issue, but the dealership said it is because of the delaminated tone wheel

Loud ticking noise from engine that speeds up upon acceleration. Failing rocker arm causing debris leading to ticking noise. No error codes. Upon personal investigation online, have found "Pentastar Tick" to be a known problem in 2013-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees on Jeep forums. Problem can lead to misfire while driving, including jerking, damage to cam shaft, as well as engine damage.

I’ve recently noticed when leaving my driveway my 2015 jeep grand Cherokee shifts hard / feels as if the transmission is slipping. Today out of now where my vehicle starts slowing down and the rpm is getting higher . I luckily was able to get to the side of the highway to pull over with 3 children in the car . I cut the vehicle off opened and closed the door cranked it and it drove as normal until I was a couple of miles away from home when this happened again . I could not go over 40 mph and the vehicle wasn’t shifting it just sounded like it was reving up . I’ve also been smelling a burning smell inside of the vehicle that smelled like burnt rubber / burning wires. The smell is worse when cutting on the seat warmers . When putting the vehicle in park...

The transmission fails and defaults to 3rd or 4th gear when downshifting or hitting a pothole. The vehicle then has to limp to a service center for evaluation and repair. At such low speeds during the limp for service, the highway driver is at significant risk or accident
#11526111 |
Transmission failed when I was merging on a highway. Had it replaced and still doesn’t seem normal. This is the electronic shift and apparently has nonstop issues with the 2015 model. Will probably need replaced again before warranty is up and it was done at a jeep dealership.

While driving my car, it will randomly shift into neutral. The engine will almost shut off while the battery will remain on. I get a message on the dash telling me to shift into gear but can only shift into park. After shifting into park, I have to turn my car off, and back on before I can shift into drive. I have had multiple parts replaced on my car to fix the issue but it is still happening. I find the car shifts to neutral when going over 55 MPH and then I lose all power.

I can hear My Jeep clicking into every gear and making a ticking noise this is because of the faulty shifter in these jeeps. Also the computer isn’t working correctly software is to old to update.
#11481513 |
There is loud ticking/tapping noise coming from the engine when in motion or when the engine idles. This vehicle was not inspected by the dealer (out of warranty) or the police but was inspected by my mechanic and is available for inspection anytime, upon request. At time, the noise become extremely loud and scary and is a cause for great concern, especially knowing that this vehicle is mostly driven daily on the highway for at least 1 hour one way. This noise suddenly appeared about 9 year ago as a slight ticking/tapping but got progressively worse.
#11481473 |
There are two issues. One is that the air bag light is on and never goes away and could mean faulty air bags, two the car is making a clicking noise and jerking when accelerating and the 4 wheel drive service light has come on. It could be the transfer case or differential. The car only has 60,000 miles and isn't driven everyday. It should not be having these safety issues.
