TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STOP/START SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BLAKE FULENWIDER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP OF CLYDE (110 N S ACCESS RD, CLYDE, TX 79510, (325) 893-1416) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY SENSOR, UNDER HOOD SWITCH, AND AN UNKNOWN ELECTRICAL PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,266.
ONLY 60K ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE AND SHIFTER LIGHT COMES ON. THIS REMAINED ON THE 21 MILES TO MY JOB.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED HAS A PARKING BRAKE ISSUE. MY PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT DISENGAGE, THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACK, THE LIGHT REMAINS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD. MY JEEP IS INOPERABLE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT IN TRAFFIC AND MY CAR REFUSED TO MOVE AT ALL. IT FINALLY MOVED OUT OF PARK IN 30 MINUTES. THE NEXT DAY MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHILE I WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT THE STORE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP. THESE TWO INCIDENTS CAUSED ME TO BE STUCK DANGEROUSLY IN TRAFFIC AT A STREET LIGHT, AND THEN AGAIN AT THE GROCERY STORE IN THE PARKING LOT. AS OF NOW I AM WITHOUT MY CAR, BEING TOLD WATER GOT IN THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE MODULE. I AM TOLD IT ALSO REQUIRES A ELECTRONIC...
PURCHASED 75,000 MILE WARRANTY WITH TOB. AROUND 30,000 MOTOR REPLACED. OIL CONSUMPTION. NC. HAD IT AT MIDAS AT 67,584 MILES BECAUSE OF UNUSUAL NOISES IN THE FRONT END. WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE DRIVETRAIN. ADVISED ME TO CHECK WITH TOM O'BRIEN CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP RAM IN GREENWOOD INDIANA THAT IT MIGHT BE UNDER WARRANTY. HAD IT THERE TWICE, MIDAS GREENWOOD TWICE AND FLETCHER CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP RAM IN FRANKLIN INDIANA TWICE. EACH MADE REPAIRS TO IT COSTING ME $595 TOTAL IN OUT-OF-POCKET DEDUCTIBLES. WITHIN 7 MONTHS OF BUYING THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP, THE 4WD SAYS UNAVAILABLE, THE WIPER SPRAYER BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I HAD TO PULL OVER BECAUSE I COULDN'T SPRAY MY WINDOW ON A SNOW-MELTING, MESSY DAY. THEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER BROKE WHILE DRIVING IN TORRENT RAINS WHERE I ALMOST GOT RUN OVER BY A SEMI-TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY FOR HAVING TO PULL OVER. THE MUD FLAPS CONTINUE TO RIP CAUSING MUD AND ICE TO BUILD UP BEHIND THE TIRES. I WAS HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP TO THE STORE WHEN THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASH. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK AND SHIFTER WILL NOT GO PAST NEUTRAL. KEY WILL NOT RELEASE AND IS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION WITH NO WAY TO REMOVE OR TURN OFF IGNITION. VEHICLE IS IMMOVABLE AND IS A ROLL OFF HAZARD DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO PLACE TRANSMISSION IN PARK.

SEVERAL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP AT THE SAME TIME (WITH ALARMS SOUNDING CONTINUOUSLY): CHECK ENGINE; PARKING BRAKE; SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SEATBELT WARNING GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ALL ON AT THE SAME TIME: P, R, N. D AND THE MANUAL SHIFT +/- INDICATOR (ALL LIT RED) THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT (OUT OF WHAT FELT LIKE 3RD GEAR) WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. A FEW TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF NEUTRAL, AND I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE (AFTER COMING TO A STOP) ON THE OFF RAMP AND ON THE SIDE STREETS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE AN ABNORMAL NOISE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. UPON RESTART OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000.
ON 01/16/2021 I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 4TH TO 5TH AND MY ACCELERATOR PEDDLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. UPON CALLING JEEP AFTER READING THE RECALL I LEARNED THIS VIN WAS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH THE SYMPTOMS FOR THE RECALL WERE THE SAME WE WERE EXPERIENCING. AFTER READING ABOUT THIS ONLINE I THINK THIS IS A WIDER RECALL THAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN BECAUSE SINCE THE RECALL AND SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASE DATE IN JUNE 2018 THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. GEAR SHIFT ERROR LIGHTS! WHILE DRIVING ALL THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. WHEN I PICKED UP TO SPEED THE LIGHTS CAME BACK. THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN TURNING AND STARTED JERKING WITH TAKE OFF. ONCE THE POWER SHUTS OFF THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO START AND TURNED OVER UNTIL IT CAUGHT ON. I DRIVE AROUND A LARGE CITY WITH LOTS OF HIGHWAYS FOR A LIVING AND I AM AFRAID THE CAR MAY LOSS POWER IN TRAFFIC! THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE SUMMER 2020
I KEEP HAVING 'SERVICE SHIFTER' POP UP WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER IS. IT ORIGINALLY POPPED UP ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT POPS UP AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED A WIRING HARNESS. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. AND THE THIRD TIME THEY CLEANED A CONNECTOR. AFTER ALL THREE TIMES I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THE CAR WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH, THEN THE MESSAGE CAME BACK.
THE 'SERVICE SHIFTER ' ICON WAS ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE GEAR SELECTOR INDICATOR LIGHTS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. AFTER REVIEWING WEB SITES THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP CHEROKEES.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BACK IN NOVEMBER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT FAILURE. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THEY SAID MY VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER IT. I HAD THEM ORDER THE PART AND THEY KEEP GIVING ME NEW ETA'S ON THE PART. AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS SUCH A DEMAND FOR THIS PART THEY HAVE GIVEN ME A NEW ETA OF FEBRUARY 4TH 2021. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE SO WHY ISN'T MY VEHICLE COVERED. NOW I WILL NEED TO RENT A CAR FOR AT LEAST A MONTH AND A HALF IF THERE ETA IS CORRECT WHICH IT HASN'T BEEN THE LAST 5 TIMES. SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING COMES ON, RANDOMLY, AND VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED TO CLEAR WARNING AND WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS AS NOTHING, GEAR RELATED, WILL FUNCTION (DRIVE/REVERSE, ETC) UNTIL SAID RESTART IS DONE. I HAVE READ SO MANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I NOTICED MY VIN IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. I ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE I GOT ANY OF THESE MESSAGES AND STARTED HAVING THESE ISSUES. AFTER INVESTIGATION THIS SEEMS TO BE A WELL KNOW ISSUE WITH THESE PTU'S FAILING. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN'T EVEN LOCATE ONE OR GET AN ETA FOR THESE UNITS BECAUSE THEY ARE IN SO MUCH DEMAND. NO MATTER WHAT DEALER I CALL THEY ARE ALREADY WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS SOON AS I SAY PTU WHICH PROVES THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE.

I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED AND I JUST GOT IT. IT LOCKED UP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT SHIFT IN TO NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR SO I COULD GET IT OUT THE ROAD. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE THIS IS WAY BEYOND YOUR TYPICAL CAR ISSUE THAT CAN BE FIXED FOR A FEW BUCKS. UNSAFE FOR MY KIDS.

AFTER ABOUT A YEAR OF OWNING THE CAR THE ERROR MESSAGE "SERVICE SHIFTER" CAME ON. THE MESSAGE COMES AND GOES WITHOUT WARNING USUALLY AFTER DRIVING THE CAR OVER AN EXTENDED TIME PERIOD. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT LOCKS YOU OUT OF THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER AND YOU HAVE TO RESET IT BY HOLDING A FEW BUTTONS AND IT WILL COME BACK ON.
CAR IS AT 52,000 MILES AND THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WENT ON, AS SOON AS I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2016 CHEROKKE SINCE JAN 2020 IN APRIL IT BEGAN TO RUN FUNNY THATS WHEN I DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE SUFFERING FROM EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE BEEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS DOING OIL CONSUMPTION TEST JUST TO BE TOLD I WENT OVER THE MILEAGE A NEW TEST HAS TO BE STARTED. NOW HERE I AM WITH THE SAME ISSUE JUST THE RUN AROUND. TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY , VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP AND ROLLS BACK AND WHEN PUT IN GEAR IT TAKES MORE THAN 10 SECONDS TO ENGAGE AFTER GAS IS APPLIED.VEHICLE ALSO STALLS OUT WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP, ONCE IT STALLS OUT YOU HAVE TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURN IGNITION OFF AND TRY TO TURN IT ON AGAIN ALMOST GOT HIT FROM BEHIND COUPLE TIMES.ENGINE HAS EXTERNAL HEAD GASKET LEAKS VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 20K ONCE TRANSMISSION START ACTING UP AND LEAKING COOLANT FROM ENGINE BETWEEN CYLINDER HEAD AND BLOCK ALL AROUND ENGINE.THERE HAS BEEN A LEAK FROM THE CABIN OR DOORS FROM DAY ONE WHEN CAR WAS NEW ONCE YOU GET TO 45+MPH AND BRAKES ALSO CHATTER I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED 3 TIMES LESS THAN 30,000 MIES ON THE CAR THE CHATTERING KEEPS COMING BACK.VEHICLE STALLS AND TRANSMISSION POPS OUT...
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS COME ON BUT ONCE YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THE NEXT TIME YOU START THE CAR IT'S OF IT COMES ON AND COMES OFF. ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER LIGHT IN RED AND STAY ON. VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY.

SERVICE RD, WEST MEMPHIS, AR 72301, (870) 394-9608) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT LINKED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V343000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE IN MOTION DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND FREEWAY, "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" APPEARS ON DASHBOARD FOLLOWED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. VEHICLE BEGINS TO LOSE POWER, LOSS OF DRIVE. PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL DOESN'T WORK. VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE. HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK OR TURN THE ENGINE OFF. WE'RE GETTING THE 'SERVICE 4WD' WARNING AGAIN. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED.
THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT HAS BEEN ON PRETTY MUCH SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO ORILEYS AND WAS TOLD CODES WERE EITHER TRANSMISSION OR FIRING. I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE COIL PACKS. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE OF IT BOGGING DOWN WHILE DRIVING. LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT. IF U PUT IT IN MANUAL IT WOULD WORK. COIL PACKS FIXED ALL THAT. NOW MY WIFE DRIVES VEHICLE IN DETROIT TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE JUST SLIPS OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS WHILE IN FLOW OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. VEHICLE LIKE WANTING TO STOP IMMEDIATELY AND ALMOST GET REAR ENDED.

IF I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT GOES OUT FOR THE TIME BEING. I DON'T KNOW IF THE FREQUENCY WILL INCREASE ON HOW MUCH THIS LIGHT WILL CONTINUE TO COME ON.
CONSOLE SUDDENLY DISPLAYED 'SERVICE SHIFTER' MESSAGE WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY. IT WAS DRY OUT. ALSO ALL SHIFTER LIGHTS PRND LIGHTS ON SOLID. I'M AT APPROX 70,000 K. AFRAID TO STOP IN RIGHT ON EMPTY HIGHWAY LATE AT NIGHT, I DTOVE TO NEAREST SERVICE BEFORE SHUTTING OFF ENGINE. RESTARTING CLEARED ERROR. AS I WAS ON A LONG ROAD TRIP, CONTINUED ON. THIS ERROR OCCURRED FOR SECOND TIME, APPROX 2000K LATER. RESTARTING AGAIN CLEARED. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN SINCE. SAW ONLINE HUNDREDS WITH SAME ISSUE AND NO CLEAR FIX OR RECALL. JEEP NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ASAP.

THIS SEEMS TO BE RECALL, HAD THE WORK DONE IN MICHIGAN WHILE ON VACATION DUE TO THE DANGERS OF DRIVING IT BACK HOME TO TN. DEALER DID NOT MENTION IT COULD BE A RECALL AND HAD ME PAY FULL AMOUNT.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION CAME ON. IT STARTING ACTING AS THOUGH IT WAS STUCK IN A HIGHER GEAR. GOING FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND ACCELERATING, THERE WAS NO POWER. AFTER GETTING THE CODE READ, IT WAS DISPLAYING P0887 "TCM POWER RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT HIGH." I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND NOTICED THAT IT HAS HAPPEN ON A LOT OF THE CHRYSLER VEHICLES FROM 2014 TO 2018.
"SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS AND ALL POSITIONS ON THE SHIFTER CONSOLE ARE LIGHTED (P, D, R, ETC.). ALMOST ALWAYS HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. MOST OF THE TIME, BUT NOT ALWAYS, STOPPING VEHICLE AND TURNING OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN CLEARS THE MESSAGE. OCCASSIONALLY REQUIRES MULTIPLE POWER OFF/ON CYCLES TO RESTART WITHOUT THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE.
4 DIFFERENT TIMES AND MONTHS APART WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT GOES ON. MAX SPEED AT THIS POINT IS ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR. EACH TIME I HAVE LIMPED THE CAR OFF THE FREEWAY AND SHUTDOWN. I WAITING A FEW MINUTES THE CAR STARTS BACK UP AND DRIVES OK BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND HAD TO COME TO A FULL STOP DUE TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS DOWN, AND THERE'S A MESSAGE TO SHIFT THE CAR TO DESIRED GEAR. THE CAR WAS ON DRIVE BUT DID NOT RESPOND. I SHIFTED GEARS FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM CAR. IT ALSO SEEMED TO INDICATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED, BUT IT WAS NOT. HAD TO TURN OFF CAR COMPLETELY (ON A THREE LANE STREET), AND TURN IT BACK ON AGAIN. I GOT THIS CAR 4 MONTHS AGO, BOUGHT IT USED WITH 36,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS. NOW I SEE THIS IS A RECURRENT PROBLEM ON MANY CHEROKEES, AND I'M SO DISAPPOINTED THAT FCA HAS NOT LOOKED INTO FIXING THIS ISSUE. I WILL HAVE TO TAKE TO A DEALER.
A PIN FELL OUT OF THE SHIFTER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH THE MESSAGE SERVICE TRANSMISSION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY CLEARED THE CODE THEN TEST DROVE IT BUT WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE CODE. THE CODE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME AND GONE SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THIS INCIDENT. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND ARE IN 7TH OR 8TH GEAR.
JEEP WILL BE IN DRIVE. I WILL BE DRIVING. IT WILL STOP AND GIVE WARNING THAT VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PARK BEFORE IT CAN BE PUT IN DRIVE. BUT SHIFTER HAS BEEN IN DRIVE FOR A WHILE AND I HAD BEEN DRIVING. IT WILL LOSE POWER FOR NOW REASON. LIKE IT IS DOWNSHIFTING BUT MY FOOT IS ONE THE GAS PEDDLE. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES BOTH ISSUES.

WE WERE TOLD BY THE OWNER OF A TRANSMISSION SHOP THAT IT SEEMS LIKE A SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING ISSUE. WE CALLED JEEP AND WERE TOLD TO SUBMIT OUR VIN TO SEE IF THERE IS RECALL.
