THE CAR STATED TO RUN HOT AS THE OIL WAS RUNNING INTO THE ANTI FREEZE POT THROUGH THE MOTOR WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND IT MADE A NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO RESTART IT BUT IT WON'T START THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN.
SINCE I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, THEY HAD REPLACED THE ENGIE DUE TO,THE RECALL, THEY HAD TO,REPLACE MY FUAL SENSORS, STEERING COLUMN PIECE, AND ANOTHER PART. BUT SINCE THEY REPLACED MY ENGINE, MY ELECTRICAL IN MY CAR IS,MEVER ACCURATE. SPEED SENSOER IS WRONG, THE RADIO SHORTS ALL THE TIME, AND MY CRUISE CONTROL DOESNT WORK. THE PROBLEMS COUNTNIUE TO GET WORSE ESPECIALLY WITH THE ELECTRICAL. THIS CAR HAS COSTED ME 1000'S OF DOLLARS AND IT JUST COUNTNIUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI IN REDLANDS CA. THEY HAVE ALL DOCUMENTATION ON THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE LEFT WHEN THE ENGINE WAS MADE, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. *DT CONSUMER STATED SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND ENGINE REPLACED. MECHANIC FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN ACELLERATING ON THE GAS, AFTER PASSING THE VEHICLE THE CAR STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A GAS STATION. CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO STATES THE ENGINE IS LOCKED UP. TOLD IT WOULD COST 2900-3500 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. SINGLE DAD, TWO TODDLERS CANNOT AFFORD THIS. IS THIS SOME SORT OF RECALL? ENGINE AS 125000 MILES AND HAS OIL IN IT. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE CAR SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN AND THE ENGINE LOCKED UP AND THE BOTTOM OF THE MOTOR CAME A LOOSE BURNING UP THE ENGINE.
WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA. LESS THAN A YEAR AGO OUR ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENGINE AND SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD STARTING AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. WHEN WE WENT TO PICK UP THE CAR IT DIDN'T START RIGHT AWAY AND THEY TOLD US WE NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. WE BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND ABOUT A WEEK LATER IT STILL WOULDN'T START ON AND OFF. SINCE WE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED, WE HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS 4 TIMES! WE BELIEVE THAT WHEN THE ENGINE DIED IT CAUSED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. FAST FORWARD ABOUT 9 MONTHS AND NOW THE CAR HAS 3 ENGINE CODES. P0017 P0014 AND P0560. CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND A SYSTEM VOLTAGE MALFUNCTION. WE WILL NEVER BUY A HYUNDAI AGAIN! THEY CLAIM THEY TOTALLY REPLACED THE ENGINE BUT...
THE TURBO CHARGER STOPS WORKING ANYTIME I QUICKLY STEP DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF THE ENGINE, RESTART IN ORDER TO RESET THE TURBO CHARGER, OTHERWISE THERE IS NO REASONABLE ENGINE RESPONSE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THIS PROCESS. TURBO CHARGER MOTOR UNIT WAS REPLACED, BUT THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN ATTEMPTING QUICK LANE CHANGES TO AVOID AN OBSTACLES IN THE ROADWAY.

MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA' RECALLED ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING AND WAS REPLACED BY HYUNDAI MOTORS AMERICA FREE OF CHARGE IN AUGUST 2018, NO ONE WAS INJURED. HOWEVER, IN LESS THEN 2 MONTHS THE NEWLY REPLACED ENGINE ONCE AGAIN SEIZED UP BUT THIS TIME ON THE FREEWAY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE HIT BY ANOTHER DRIVER TRAVELING AT 80 MPH. THE AIRBAGS, ALSO RECALLED DID NOT DEPLOY. FORTUNATELY, FOR MYSELF, I WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SECOND ENGINE SEIZE UP. ENGINE STARTED MAKING SOME NOICE AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE A FEW DAYS AGO.
I DROVE MY 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA ON THE HIGHWAY, WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE TO MATCH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH. I PULLED MY VEHICLE OVER TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE AND ENGAGED HAZARD LIGHTS. I RELEASED THE HOOD LATCH AND OPENED HOOD TO ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I SAW SMOKE AND COULD SMELL BURNING PLASTIC. I CHECKED MY OIL LEVELS AND DID A QUICK INSPECTION OF FLUID LEVELS. WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART MY CAR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE STARTER WAS BURNED OUT. HE REPLACED THE STARTER AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR THE NEW STARTER BEGAN TO SMOKE AS WELL. HE STATED THAT IT WAS GOOD THAT I PULL THE CAR OVER SO QUICKLY CAUSE THE CAR COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THIS HAPPENED...
ON DECEMBER 4 2017, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY SONATA COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING SIGNS. TRIED TO RESTART AND THERE WAS NOTHING. I HAD TO CALL MY ROADSIDE SERVICE PEOPLE TO TOW IT TO A SHOP. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT MY ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED ON OCTOBER 1,2017 AND HAD ABOUT 200 MILES BEFORE THE NEXT OIL CHANGE. I ALWAYS CHECK MY OIL AND EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR THERE WAS A RECALL ON ENGINE SO I CALLED THE DELAERSHIP TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND HE SAID THEY HAD CHECKED IT BEFORE MY PURCHASE. SOMETHING WENT WRONG OR THEY DIDN'T INSPECT IT PROPERLY. THIS PROBLEM COULD OF CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY.

ON NOVEMBER 29, 2016, WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AT WEST CHESTER PIKE IN WEST CHESTER, PA. I NOTICED A FLASH AND SPARK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ONE MORE BLINK AND A STREAM OF FIRE SHOT ACROSS THE TOP OF THE HOOD OF THE CAR. WITHIN IN MINUTES, THE ENTIRE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES GIVING ME SECONDS TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. WHILE TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED, THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS WERE CALLED TO DISTINGUISH THE FIRE WHILE ATTENDING TO ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS PART OF A NATIONWIDE RECALL AND WAS REPLACED "NEW" ON JUNE 10, 2016 WHICH I SATISFIED INCLUDING THE EXTENSION OF THE WARRANTY THAT WAS ISSUED TO ME AFTER GETTING IT REPLACED.
ENGINE FAILURE/STEERING PROBLEMS IN JULY OF 2015 I PURCHASED THE 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA FROM A DRIVETIME DEALERSHIP; STARTING MILEAGE; 76,262. I ONLY HAD THE CAR ABOUT 2 MONTHS WHEN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SEIZED ON THE FREEWAY IN AUGUST OF 2015. THE RECALL 132 DIDNT COME OUT UNTIL AFTER I ALREADY HAD MY CAR SERVICED BY A 3RD PARTY WARRANTY AND HAD TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR 500 DOLLARS. THE CAUSE WAS A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AT 77,498 MILES. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED IN SEPT OF 2015. NEXT ISSUE I STARTED TO HAVE WAS MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE ON ABOUT 10/2018 WHILE DRIVING OVER ANY UNEVEN ROAD OR EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BUMP. THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY TREMBLES IF I GO OVER 60MPH AND FEELS AS THOUGH THE STEERING WHEEL MAY COME UNATTACHED. MY WHEELS FEEL AS THOUGH THEY ARE READY TO FLY OFF....
THE ENGINE HAS SEIZED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ALWAYS ON AND IT MELTED THE HARNESS THE HOLDS THE BULB IN THE RECEPTACLE AREA. I CANNOT PLACE THE BULB IN THE SEATING FOR IT ANYMORE AND THEN SUCCESSFULLY PLACE IN THE AREA FOR IT. THE AREA JUST BENEATH THE GLOVE BOX BEGAN EMITTING SMOKE AND I SMELLED RUBBER MELTING. THE LANGUAGE OF THE CAR IS IN SPANISH CANNOT BE CHANGED BACK TO ENGLISH. THE BUTTONS DON'T CONTROL WHAT THEY ARE INTENDED TO. THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL, RADIO, A/C AND THE OTHER FUNCTIONS OCCASIONALLY ARE NOT OPERABLE, NO LIGHT NOTHING.
ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE MAKING A CLATTERING SOUND FROM WITHIN THE ENGINE AS WE WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 55 MIKES O'ER HOUR. LOCAL MECHANICS SAY IT IS IN THE LOWER PART IF THE ENGINE. THERE ARE ARTICLES IN THE INTERNET STATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO METAL SHAVINGS BUT I CANNOT FIND THE ACTUAL RECALL.

THE DEALER (NORTH TOWN HYUNDAI, 7420 TRANSIT ROAD, WILLIAMSVILLE, NY) CLEARED ALL THE RECALL CODES THAT WERE PENDING ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE CLICKING NOISE AND AIR BAG INDICATOR FAILURES STILL PERSISTED. IN ADDITION, SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,457.
I NO LONGER HAVE FOG LIGHTS THAT ENTIRE AREA HAS MELTED. MY TAIL LIGHTS GO OUT EVERY TWO OR 3 WEEKS AND THE BULBS ARE BLACK. RECENTLY THE CAR WAS LEAKING OIL AND SMOKING THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH THE ENGINE RECALL. MY ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING IN 2016 AND I HAD TO GET A ENGINE REPLACEMENT. AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT MY TURBO WENT OUT WHICH ONLY ALLOWED THE CAR TO DRIVE SLOW AND THE ENGINE SOUNDED THE WHOLE TIME DRIVING. IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH WHEN THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE.

OUR CAR WAS IN THE NUMBER 2 LANE OF A 5 LANE FREEWAY WHEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER AND THE GAS PEDAL DIDN'T WORK AND THEN A VERY SUDDEN, HARD JOLT IN THE CAR.
