Consumer Description

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN ACELLERATING ON THE GAS, AFTER PASSING THE VEHICLE THE CAR STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A GAS STATION. CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO STATES THE ENGINE IS LOCKED UP. TOLD IT WOULD COST 2900-3500 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. SINGLE DAD, TWO TODDLERS CANNOT AFFORD THIS. IS THIS SOME SORT OF RECALL? ENGINE AS 125000 MILES AND HAS OIL IN IT. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?
