My engine was replaced under warranty due to the major Theta engine recall, after 20k miles on the new engine its failing too, burning oil, smoking, making loud valve train noise on acceleration, and at time operates very sluggishly and strangely no engine codes ,almost like my engine code system was programmed to ignore these issues. My new replaced engine seems to be failing again and they don't care. I'm afraid this car will catastrophically fail or catch fire like I've been reading about.. Because its past the 12k warranty they are declining to fix,12k warranty REALLY ???!! Here's my concern, I am hearing many many ,many stories from others and even the dealer people that Hyundai is replacing the recall engines with BAD faulty engines, some I've heard have received 3 engines. My dealer lied to me saying it was a PCV ,the PCV valve was replaced and my...

I was accelerating from a county road onto a state road, and the engine quit. The dash board displayed a bunch of tiny colored symbols of which I hadn't seen before. I coasted and pulled into an Elementary School parking lot and braked to a stop. I attempted to restart but got nothing. I smelled something and got out and opened the hood. The bottom end of the motor was on fire! I flagged down a lady and described my situation. She was the principal and went to get a matinance man with a extinguisher. Soon, two guys with water bottles stopped and extinguisher the flames. The principal and matinance man arrived and the guys pushed my Sonata into a parking spot. The principal (nice lady) gave me a ride home. I bought it used, no warranty, from a used car lot. I still owe a lot on it. Up...

Smell of fuel & starting issues. The car has been taken to the dealer multiple times regarding gas fumes and they could not find anything. And it is currently at a mechanic shop to for same reason. When you start the car it doesnt take long before the whole car smells like gas & the smell is so strong it is suffocating. The car is health & fire risk. Also the car sometimes doesnt want to start for days but the starter, battery, alternator all work & even the mechanic doesnt know whats wrong with it. Apperantly there is no recall & if you search online there are alot of people with same cars complaining about gas smell & starting issues..

The car suddenly stopped idling while driving at around 40-45 mph and everything seemed normal until it would not drive but the car was on and then the steering was difficult to pull over to a safe area and the brakes were hard to brake and stop but when it came to a full stop the vehicle dash warning lights were flickering and shut off. When I tried to attempt and start the vehicle it would not start but everything turns on ike normal al the lights except the engine was not on. Also it started smelling like some sort of electrical components were burning or something but I couldn't see any smoke or anything coming from the engine area but it seemed like electrical burn somewhere in the car. I was driving my 2011 Hyundai Sonota and it felt like a truck had slammed into the back of my vehicle but it didn’t, the car was knocking and finally stopped and wouldn’t accelerate when pushing the pedal. I had to have it towed and the shop didn’t know what to do and I had it sent to Rick Case Hyundai and I explained the situation about the debris being washed out of the engine and they asked for $1700 just to look at the engine. I had a few recalls and they should have looked at the engine with no problems and no charges. They had my vehicle towed and it took me a few months to figure out what happened to my car? I have been denied EVERYTHING BY HYUNDAI CORPORATE AND TAMMY OFFERED TO LOOK AT THE ENGINE AFTER SENDING THE INFORMATION TO BBB AND SHE SAID...

My husband was accelerating onto a highway and the engine failed. He was able to pull to the shoulder and brake to a stop. He was not able to start the car. He had the car towed to our mechanic and the mechanic reported that the engine seized, the engine had oil in it, and we needed to bring the car to the dealer to have it looked at. There were no lights, sounds, or warnings that there was a problem with the engine. This is the second engine failure for this car. The first failure was a fire and the engine was replaced. The dealer stated that it would take 3 weeks before they could look at the car. We brought it in 3 weeks later, 12/19/22. No-one has looked at the car. We don't know what the problem is, because they still have not looked at it.

My engine has failed, and my steering wheel column has locked. I had the software update on my engine with Napleton that qualified me for a lifetime engine replacement. I submitted maintenance records for my car and pictures of my valvetrain that are well maintained, and hyundai denied my engine claim for exceptional maintenance neglect on Dec8. On December 14th, after reviewing my oil changes, they still denied me for using low quality oil that's obscured. The problem I am having with my car is oil, not being able to get to the pistons inside my engine. It's not fair when the company know they engines have a manufacture defect. Then they blame the customers for lack of maintenance to have an excuse not to replace the engine. Knowing that with or without oil changes in the hyundai sonata 2011 -2012 models the engines will eventually seize anyway.I've reached out...

When I was driving on the highway there was a sudden knocking sound coming out from my engine. I dropped off from the highway and checked the engine and there was a smoke coming out from the engine it was scary. I took my car to the dealership and they took some time and they said I have to replace the engine. Even it is under a safety recall they decided not to replace the engine and they are saying that the engine is rebuilt. Please help me to get my engine replaced, I am a student I am not understanding what to do with this. NHTSA is my final hope to help me in this

In May 2022 the engine was recalled and replaced by Schomp Hyundai located at 100 Havan St, Aurora, CO 80010, and I purchased this car right after the engine recall. Since I bought the car vehicle the engine has been making noise and the AC and heater smell gas and burned fuel inside the vehicle through cabin air vents. I took the car to the Schomp Hyundai and asked them to fix the noise problem as the engine is not properly installed but they refused to fix it and asked me to pay $180 to diagnose the problem and to pay additional for the fix. The second time when I took the car for the gas and fuel fume and I was told that it is not part of the engine warranty; I have to pay $180 to diagnose the problem and pay additional for the fix. As the engine...

I was driving home from work & out of NOWHERE the engine seized & power steering was very hard due to it being electric. Hyundai then denied my engine for "Lack of maintenance" AFTER they KNOWINGLY put my life & others t risk for even letting these cars be driving without proper caution or engine replacement.

My vehicle should be covered under a recall for my engine, however Hyundai is denying the claim due to my title being branded as salvage, however according to my research a salvage title does not affect the recall. I believe my engine should be replaced, and Hyundai is refusing to return my calls at this point.

I have code P1326- Manufacturer Control show up on code scanner, first appearing on 08/19/2022, the engine light blinks on and off. Looking up the scan code one of connecting rod bearing is possibly getting to the point of failing through wear and tear on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited. The problem has been reproduced while Accelerating to 40mph before car will Decelerate and only shifting between 1800-2000 rpm, on a busy road near my home, that may could have caused an incident

On March 5, 2020 I was entering a highway and increased my speed a little so I can get into my lane. After I made it into the highway my car lost power in the middle of the road and immediately would not go past 20 mph. I had to drive slowly and get all the way over into another lane and stopped in a nearby neighborhood. I went to not having any dashboard indicators to now a check engine light, oil light, and ABS. I checked my dip stick to see how much oil did I have in my car and I was completely empty but I was not due for an oil change yet. I had to get my car towed to my home. The next day, we tried to let my car rest so it sat. On that Morning, I drove my car maybe 8 minutes up...

I would like to report a serious Safety Hazard. Hyundai Motor America replaced my 2011 Sonata's defective engine in January 2020. The new engine turned off on its own approximately 20 times without the "Check Engine" light turning on between August 2021 and January 2022. The "Check Engine" light did not turn on until January 24, 2022. I had my car towed to El Cajon Hyundai in August 2021 after the engine turned off on its own while my car was traveling more than 40 MPH. El Cajon Hyundai could not diagnose the cause of the problem in August 2021 because the "Check Engine" light never turned on each time the engine turned off on its own. I had to work when the non-flashing “Check Engine” light finally turned for three days starting on January 24, 2021. The engine turned off on its own approximately 20 more times from January...
