2019 HONDA PILOT Forward Collision Avoidance Warnings Problems

Below features stopped working and when I showed it to the dealership, it was diagnosed to be a Failed Front Camera which I had to get replaced at the dealership to get below features restored. Adaptive Cruise Control Forward Collision Warning Lane Keeping Assistance Auto High-Beam Headlights

The vehicle experiences a persistent stutter/hesitation while driving, which is especially pronounced during acceleration from a stop or at low to moderate speeds. This condition occurs consistently during normal operation and is not a one-time or intermittent event. The hesitation creates a safety concern when accelerating from intersections, merging into traffic, or maintaining smooth vehicle speed. The vehicle feels as though power delivery is interrupted or unstable during acceleration. Multiple warning lights are present. Dealer diagnostics confirmed permanent communication-related fault codes, including CAN bus communication errors and camera/radar-related safety system failures. These fault codes return after clearing and coincide with the drivability hesitation. During inspection, a transmission fluid service was discussed; however, no transmission-specific fault codes were identified. All the ADAS systems have stopped working. I get warnings and beeping as I drive my vehicle. Numerous people are telling me that it is the $2,000 front sensing camera that needs to be replaced. This is a huge safety concern and it is plaguing the 3rd generation Honda Pilots.

Received five warning lights at idle. Adaptive cruise control problem, Lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem. None of these safety features work in my vehicle. I have taken this to the dealership to troubleshoot the issue and they confirm that the issue is there and said that it was the multi-purpose camera on the rear view mirror. This will end up costing around $2,000 to repair. Without these safety systems, my family Is obviously not as safe... As a consumer we pay extra for all the engineering and the physical components to have these safety features. Otherwise, I could have saved $20,000 and bought a 2000s model suburban that doesn't have these safety features.

My cruise control stopped working and all my lane assist stopped working. My front camera stopped working. I went to the Honda dealership, and it was going to be over $2000 to replace. The car is only 6 years old, it has had no accidents or problems. I’m incredibly upset that this already is a problem, and because i didn’t buy an extended warranty it’s on me to fix.

After only 76K miles the ADAS stopped working. Honda Sense safety features no longer work. Honda dealership diagnosed the problem and said the ADAS camera needed to be replaced. The car is in excellent condition. It was never in an accident, windshield in perfect condition. Up to date with its scheduled maintenance.

So my front sensing camera failed after 125,000 miles , Honda sensing features disabled and dealer in Elk Grove, CA zip code 95624 quoted me 2,215 plus tax and that includes diagnostics. It showed 5-6 errors on my dashboard which have disturbed my focus on driving. Advisor said there’s no recall on this issue or warranty at all except if you bought an extended warranty. This is not fair as this is an electronic automated design, this should have a warranty. This will pose danger to customers who owns this vehicle.

My 2019 Honda Pilot’s (125,000 miles) forward-facing sensing camera (behind the rear-view mirror) failed, disabling Honda Sensing features like Lane Keep Assist, automatic high beam, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Collision Mitigation Braking. The dashboard shows “Honda Sensing Problem”, braking system and “Collision Mitigation System Problem.” Dealer diagnosed a bad sensing camera and quoted around $2,316 plus tax for replacement and calibration, not covered by warranty. Many other owners report the same issue. This is a safety risk since it disables key safety systems. Please investigate and consider a recall.

There was an internal failure of the multi-purpose camera located behind the windshield rear-view mirror. It was inspected by Russ Darrow Honda and the failure code diagnosed. The camera needed to be replaced. Service included a video from the dealer and the defective camera was so hot he could barely hold it while wearing gloves. This caused the Lane-Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Collision Mitigation and Road Departure Mitigation Systems to fail, and the dummy lights on the dash to warn of the system failures. There was no accident or injury resulting yet, but none of the advanced safety features were operable. We have since learned that this camera is a common failure in Honda vehicles, and we feel there needs to be a recall. This critical and expensive safety feature should not be failing this frequently, or in vehicles this new.

My 2019 Honda Pilot [XXX] with 68k miles) recently began to have startup errors and issues with the automated driver safety systems. The multi function camera is causing multiple system failures within the safety systems associated with the camera as well as additional issues with transmission. Honda suggests throwing parts at it until repaired. Many owners on forums report same issue across different model years and trim levels. Known issue not being resolved by manufacturer.

The ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation, High beam, lane departure warnings light errors are on. This happened 2 years ago and Honda wanted me to pay $1,200 to replace all sensors of this car. Of course I just left it. It's not worth the hassel. However, for a car bought brand new in 2019 to have these systems fail in 2023, and for this to be a main component advertised for consumers to buy vehicles, it is not good. We pay thousands of dollars for a car because it has these safety features only for it to fail within 4 years and then expect the customer to pay over $1,000 to fix, is simply not right.

2019 honda pilot exL all of sudden multipurpose camera doesn't work. As a result of the camera issue break system sign came on and all safety feature turn off. I didn't have any accident prior to the sign came on. Dealer is asking 1800+tax to replace the camera.

Sensor lights turned on and frequent events occurred causing lights to come on. Took to the dealer and informed me code u3000-49 multi purpose camera unit wave radar internal electronic failure upon researching several other people have the same issue and has not been resolved.

dash instuments goes blacked out , entertainment system goes black in sequence to dash, this has happened multiple times . I cannot tell my speed, gas levels, etc, the LKAS, collision warning, adaptive cruise control , auto emergncy breaking ,lane departure warning failed with lights coming on with various failure warinings, it fails ,then works randomly then fails again. I have taken my vehichle in starting in 2022 for the dash instruments and entertainment going out .The transmission has rough shifting multiple times, i have brought for diagnostic service 4 times on transmission, they cannot find the causes. I have had transmissions serviced and flushed as required.

During normal operation of the vehicle, the dashboard information display on the gauge cluster lit up displaying the following error messages: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist Problem, Auto High-Beam Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. Additionally there is a fixed "dash light" that is showing "BRAKE SYSTEM" illuminated in amber color. After research I have found that Honda issued a TSB for other vehicles with their sensing system for the same issue and referenced the high-mounted mono camera on the windshield. This issue extends to the 2019 Pilot Elite that I own and significantly reduces the safety features of this vehicle.

BRAKE WARNING, SIGN

My whole dashboard is lit up high beams lane keeping assistance break system go’s off , seatbelt warning, my high beams this puts my safety at risk as my passengers. I have had this diagnosed by my mechanic. It came up on the computer that it is the front camera that is making this all happen. I told the Honda dealership they say there’s no recall? They said I would have to get it diagnosed for $260. I’ve already had that done. at the time I took it in for a recall on the fuel pump modulator also the back up camera cables, which they fixed.

Multiple warning lights and alarms sounding after starting the engine: Collision Mitigation System Problem. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem. Lane Keeping Assist Problem. Auto High Beam Braking System Error. When these warning lights are on, the vehicle continues to drive and brake as if these features were not installed. HOWEVER, since the "Brake System Error" light is now always illuminated, there is no longer an on dash warning to indicate an actual problem with the braking system. This began in August of 2024 as a single episode. It escalated to intermittent occurrences. It now happens every time. Malfunctioning braking and lane minding systems pose obvious danger to passengers. Problem was noted by Virginia State Vehicle Inspection station.

The cars smart car controls stopped working. ACC, Collision Mitigation System, LKAS, Road Departure Mitigation, and Auto High Beam Problem warning lights are on.

Vehicle would brake suddenly. Then shortly thereafter, the collision mitigation system error appeared on the dash. Honda dealership says the camera no longer works and the entire system needs to be replaced. The fact that the camera stopped working spontaneously is concerning.

The forward collision warning and automatic braking system are terrible and have been terrible since we purchased our Pilot new from a dealer. The warning lights and beep go off frequently when driving on highways and surface streets, in fact it’s nearly impossible to have an incident-free trip longer than 20-30 minutes. The automatic braking system has engaged many times, causing unexpected and sudden slowing of the vehicle, which has the potential to cause confusion, loss of control, or even a vehicular accident. Making matters worse, one cannot simply disengage the system permanently; it must be turned off each time the engine is started and requires holding a button down for several seconds.

The front camera has gone out on the Honda pilot, but inconsistently works. It will turn on while driving and turn off while the adaptive cruise control is on. The vehicle does not have a way to bypass the camera, so then there is consistently lights and alerts on. With not being able to bypass the camera features they will automatically come on or off while driving while the camera is not working properly. This vehicle was purchased in October of 2019, and has had camera issues since January 2024. The vehicle is not even 5 years old and has consistently had problems. The fuel injectors went out at 3 years, which I would not expect to go out, and from discussion with dealership there was an extended warranty for the same year Honda Odyessy, which was not extended for the Honda Pilot, but both vehicles have the same fuel...

CMS IS NOT WORKING. Just stopped.

Radar and multi purpose camera simultaneously failed. Dash lights came on indicating that auto high beams, lane keep assist, forward collision, adaptive cruise control, and braking system where not working properly. I think my safety and the safety of others where compromised with these systems not working.

All electrical systems failed at once due to a malfunction in the front camera-sudden failure with no damage to the vehicle physically. Honda refuses to fix or honor the issue. A recall should be required due to the vast amounts of complaints on the same issues. This should not be a financial responsibility on the owner.

When I am driving and at times the braking system tell me to Brake when I am in my line and no one is heading my way.

This morning 01/30/2024, I was travelling in the right lane of two on the highway. The vehicle slowed rapidly just about to a stop. I barely had time to pull to the right shoulder. I narrowly was struck from a vehicle travelling behind. This was from one of the safety mechanisms in the Pilot SUV I think the lane departure sensor. This was very scary. I feel this is a huge safety concern and need to report it. If I didn't have a shoulder what the heck would have happened to me. I probably would have been struck from behind and who knows possibly injured or worse. The shoulder was approximately 8 ft wide thankfully. Later that morning it did the same thing but this time many error messages appeared. Thankfully this time there was nobody behind me and was able to pull to the right shoulder again. The error...

All my dash warning lights started coming on for Adaptive Cruise Control, ABS, LKAS, Front Collision Mitigation, Road Departure Mitigation. They all came on at once. I took it to Honda and they said it’s a front camera issue and I’d need to pay $1800 to replace it. Researching it online, I’ve seen many Pilot owners that have had this same issue.

While driving on two lane roads and roads with left turn lanes, the "BRAKE" warning comes on almost every other on-coming car. Most instances it just the warning light and sound, but every once in a while the automatic brakes are applied by the system momentarily at times. This became worse on a highway while driving in the left lane and passing a truck that was in a left turn lane, the system braked immediately and without prior warning, nearly causing a rear end collision by a vehicle behind. This occurred twice on a recent trip. Went to the Honda dealer and they informed me the only thing they can do is set it to the closest setting or turn off the driving assist system.

When i turned on my vehicle errors started coming up Collision Mitigation System problem, Road departure mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem, Adaptive cruise control problem and Lane keeping assist problem. Also has orange Brake System highlighted. Unable to use any of the safety features mentioned as well as cruise control. Took vehicle to Honda dealer on February 6th and was informed the camera behind the rearview mirror had gone bad. There were no warnings prior. I had driven the vehicle around and stopped to get gas and when I turned it back on all the errors begun to appear. This was the first time they appeared and they have been there since as the dealer wanted over $1800 to repair this. After looking on the internet/Facebook Honda Pilot group there have been several others that have had this same issue with their 2019 Honda Pilot.

My car was parked in my driveway, when I started the car, 4-5 warning lights started to flash in orange, ACC, LKAS, Automatic High Beam, Collision Mitigation Problem, Road Departure Mitigation Problem. When driving the vehicle, none of these safety features are working. Took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the Multi Purpose Camera had an internal failure and it was likely due to heat exposure. The vehicle only has 32,000 miles on it and it was not at any unusual heat exposure. The past 3 summers the temperature has been the same and no problems. This appears to be a Manufacturer Defect on this camera but dealer won't accept that. The same day I took my car to the dealer, on 7.12.23 for the check up, I was told 4 other customers came in with the same problem. That is Not Normal. I live in Southern California...

Vehicle automatically applies brakes in several unwanted situations: (1) driving down 2 lane road going around curve with other vehicle approaching from opposite direction (2) something small in roadway such as plastic bag or small limb (3) normal stopping when car thinks other vehicle is too close in front but driver is under complete braking control These actions are dangerous at normal highway speeds and on wet road!!!! This has happened multiple times, not just on date listed below.

Car is at 56K mileage. I was at a stop light engine was running, when I took my foot off the brake and tried to accelerate the engine died, the dashboard flashed a collision warning, (there were no cars or animals near my car), then all the screens dashboard behind steering wheel and on middle console all went blank. I restarted the car and made it home fine. Drove the car the next day for several stops (street and highway driving), then the same thing happened at a stop light and it restarted and I made it home fine. The third day there were no problems while driving 30+ miles streets and highway. The fourth day, drove about 15 miles to work and all was fine. Drove about 13 miles street and highway just fine. AEB/FCW. On January 24, 2023 while traveling on I-15 the Control Panel flashed “Warning” and the brakes were applied. There was no vehicle in my lane. There were other vehicles in adjacent lanes. This occurred additionally on the following dates. 1/22/23 (2x). 1/17/23, 1/12/23(3x) and 12/20/22.

On the highway traveling at ~60mph traveling straight away and the brakes slammed on without reason and almost caused a major accident. There was no vehicle in close proximity and no imminent collision that should have caused the vehicle to slam on the brakes. The random slamming of the brakes almost caused a rear end collision with our vehicle and the car behind us. Similar situation but driving around town at lower speed around 30 mph but same behavior. The car slammed again on brakes where there was not imminent collision that should have caused the vehicle to take evasive action or slam on the brakes.

Our 2019 Honda Pilot will flash the brake for the front collision warning system when there is no oncoming traffic or even when the oncoming traffic is in its lane. It does not always happen, but enough to be an annoyance. It also tends, when stopped at a light, and the auto stop engages not to restart. The entire electrical system goes haywire and then dies. This includes the ability to use your 4way or emergency flashers. The car then has to be jumped or towed to restart the vehicle.

The car is equipped with a stop-start system that is supposed to shut off the engine when you stop (eg at a red light) and restart almost instantly when you lift the foot off the brake. The restart feature fails somewhat regularly, maybe about 5% of the time. It has happened for many years, and with increasing frequency as the car is getting older. Sometimes the restart has trouble, the car misfires a moment, but then the engine restarts, sometimes a bunch of unrelated warnings sound when this happens, the car reporting that the collision avoidance systems are now offline or similar. Sometimes the engine completely stalls and does not come back online at all; when this happens, getting it restarted generally means putting it in park, turning the car completely off, then starting it again, a process that takes 10-15 seconds. When this happens at an isolated stop sign...

When the idle stop system is engaged and the brake is depressed to activate the vehicle engine to shut off (at a red light for example), sometimes when lifting your foot off the gas the vehicle does not restart as it is designed to. This leaves the driver stranded at a green light panicking to find a way to get the car started and other vehicles stuck behind the stalled car stopping the normal flow of traffic and causing a potential accident.

2019 Honda Pilot Collision Mitigation System flashing BRAKE on screen average 3 times per day. Includes shaking of steering wheel & if cruise control on, braking. All this is happening when there is nothing blocking car. If cruise control on & need to respond to car that just pulled in front of me on highway, because the brake pedal is already suppressed by the car I can not respond properly. The only thing I have found to override the car is to push the gas pedal, which is also very dangerous!! Please help!! This is so dangerous. If something is actually happening on the road it is difficult to think about how to respond because the car is freaking out. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS AND BACK-UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM CONCERNING THE SAFETY FEATURES DOESN'T WORK WHEN THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. WE HAVE TAKEN OUR CAR TO HAVE THE ISSUE REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT NOTHING THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE HAS PROVIDED A PERMANENT FIX. THIS HAPPENS SPORADICALLY WHETHER THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOVEMENT. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR IN JANUARY 2019.
