Screen on backup camera is not clear. It now has purple and green coloring and is impeding the picture on the screen. The dealership thinks it is due to the wiring with the backup camera. When backing up I cannot clearly see if any objects are behind me. This is happening each time I reverse. There were no warning sign that I noticed. I did, however, have problems with the current recall with wiring and the audio almost immediately after buying the new car. Took it into the delearship on many occasions to have fixed, prior to recall. I’ve ready many similar issues happening after the recall is fixed.
My car has shifted from both park to neutral and drive to neutral on its own three times in the last six weeks. This has occurred when parked and when at a red light. My gear shifters are electric push buttons. This has previously occurred, been reported to NHTSA, and been checked by the dealership. I was told by the dealership that it was a battery issue and paid to replace my three and a half year old battery that tested in good condition. My new battery is about a year old and I am now having the same, very serious issues. This specific model has been recalled multiple times for continuous electrical issues. I called the dealership after the first new incident and was told if they cannot repeat it, they cannot fix it. It is not occurring everyday or seemingly with any pattern so I cannot replicate it...
Several times now when stopped at a red light, my vehicle's idle-stop features turns of the car and fails to restart when taking my foot off the brake. The screen behind the steering wheel says to take the vehicle out of neutral and restart but it is still in drive, the battery light also comes on. I have to put it in park (after putting on my hazards because there are cars behind me), turn off the vehicle and restart it. As far as I know there are no recalls for this as of yet.
The reverse camera suddenly started displaying distorted colors on approximately 1/3 of the screen. Turning the vehicle on and off has no impact. The previous recall for Fakra service cable replacement had no impact. The vehicle is garaged at home and has not been in high heat or direct sunlight for an excessive amount of time. From an internet search, this seems to be a common issue in 2019 Honda Pilots.
Overblown colorful backup camera image. Backup camera stopped working properly on 2019 Honda Pilot Elite SUV. Image has very bright red yellow and purple colors (like night vision) and the rear image is no longer legible. This is now a safety hazard as the driver is unable to view people, vehicles, and other obstructions while backing up the SUV. Need Honda to cover the repair and replacement of the backup camera under warranty. This appears to be a widespread issue for 2019 models that Honda dealers are not covering free of charge based on forum threads: [XXX] Please investigate immediately and have Honda cover this as a recall before this becomes a widespread issue affecting thousands of cars with non-functional backup cameras. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My back up camera has an issue where it is showing a green and purple tint that is distorting the view. It functions every time I put the car in reverse, but I can barely see what is on the screen because of the colors. I almost hit a person because I could not see her in the back up camera. I also have been unable to use it to attach my trailer because the view is so distorted. I have researched it and many other people have experienced this exact same issue with 2019 Pilots. This needs to be a safety recall as the camera is failing and needs to be replaced.
Operating vehicle on Interstate. After pulling onto off ramp engine shut off completely during application of brakes. This has happened twice in hot (above 90 degrees) conditions. Car restarted after multiple attempts. I was in danger of being rear ended. No warning lights, no I dictations there was a problem. Dealer cannot reproduce the problem, no solution offered.
On several occasions my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring AWD with Idle start/stop will not restart when the idle start/stop kicks in. At a stop light several times when I come to a stop and the engine will turn off and not restart when the idle start/stop engages. Very dangerous and a clear safety issue that Honda needs to rectify asap. I have read many others with the same issue occurring. Honda, please step up and do the right thing!
Dealer diagnostic performed and found that the multipurpose camera internal electronic failure has occurred (report attached). This camera controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), automatic headlights and high beams, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Collision Mitigation System, Road Departure Mitigation System. This issue first began in March 2023 and occurs all of the time. I brought the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected. The warning lights and dings occur constantly throughout my ride. I have attached a link to a video that I had recorded and uploaded through Youtube, due to the size of the file. [XXX] Dealer quote states $1579, plus tax for camera replacement and proper aiming. This seems to be a common issue with the 2016-2020 model of the Honda Pilot per online chat boards. The price of repair among people that have either received a quote or had the camera replaced is from $1500-$1800. As this...
The back up camera is no longer working, i see online lots of reports. Hoping enough reports to issue a recall, the fix is over $800
Reverse camera is failing. Screen flickers badly and can’t safely see what’s behind the vehicle, low to the ground, when reversing.
The idle stop cuts the engine when stopped at lights or stop signs or traffic slow downs but does not always start back up. Twice this month I have had to open the door and then press the ignition multiple times to get the car to start again. When this happens we also get an alert that there are other features being disabled. This was an issue last year and the dealer felt it was that we needed a new battery. So we replaced that and hadn't had issues until this month. It happened on the highway this weekend during a traffic slow down, and because we couldn't get going right away we almost caused an accident.
Unknown. There is a popping and static sound coming from the speakers. Also, the check turner or radio is not available. A notification will be displayed on the screen when the vehicle hits a bump in the road, or the street is not smooth.
The backup camera became distorted and pixelated. Confirmed by the dealership. No warnings or symptoms prior to the issue initiating. Dealership confirmed it to be a faulty camera. Multiple reports of the same issues online: [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The MOST communication cable connector recall causes the rear view camera to die early due to excess electrical noise going through the wire. There are many reports of the rear view cameras dying quickly due to the electrical issue of the MOST cable. The recall needs to cover the camera as well as the cable connectors, as they suffer damage as a result of the poor connection. My camera is still broken after the recall work was completed.
Auto start stop feature did not restart engine after I stopped in traffic ahead of me on [XXX] in New Hyde Park. This has happened twice to me and a few times to my wife although she did not report them through this site. All this is after I had reported earlier the same incidents and Honda diagnosed it to the battery needing replacement after 2 years. There is a problem with this feature and NHTSA SHOULD ACT. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
1ST OCCURENCE: 45000 miles on vehicle. I was exiting a busy ramp from [XXX] to Fort Oglethorpe, Ga and the Idle stop caused the engine to stall and not re-engage upon lifting the break. I was almost hit from the rear. The vehicle had power but would not restart. I had to wait for it to shut itself down and get it to restart. 2ND OCCURENCE: 62000 miles on vehicle. Almost a year and a half from the first occurrence-I was on a very busy [XXX] and came to stop at a red light. AGAIN, the idle stop caused the engine to stall and not restart. The light turned green, and I immediately turned my flashers on. I had a child in the backseat. Cars still began honking and going around us, leaving us to potentially get smashed from behind on a road that many people travel at 55mph plus!...
The alarm sounded all through the night killing the battery leaving me stranded almost 500 miles from home. Took it to the Honda in Pensacola to be diagnosed only to be told they couldn’t get the part and had to pay a $80 fee on top of renting a car to use while out of town. Then had to leave a day early from our trip (losing money there) because we could not cut the car off without the alarm, lights, and inside going crazy. When we got back home the Honda here said it was the keyless access control unit and replaced it. After researching I have found the is a common issue with the Pilot.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while at a stop light with the Auto START/STOP feature activated, the vehicle did not immediately restart after releasing the brake pedal. The contact had to shift to the park and restart the vehicle manually. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the idle stop module, and the failure was remedied however, the failure later reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 82,000.
Auto start stalled at highway stop light , then parked and shut off, went to leave would not start , emergency Alarm going off will not start , Emission light , Lane depart light , transmission light , battery dead , I’ve been dealing with problems with the Honda pilot since I bought brand new 2019 Honda pilot elite , auto pilot stop and go wouldn’t kick back on and that was 40,000 take in charge me 10,000
Started vehicle and proceeded to drive forward in my driveway when smoke started coming in the vehicle. Noticed after driving that the smoke was coming in the vehicle from under the glove box on the passenger side by the floor mat. Within approximately two minutes a flame ignited in which the dashboard caught on re. The whole inside on the vehicle was destroyed & totaled the whole vehicle. I have about 25 more pictures of the car (after the re and during) that I couldnt send via this webform. If you need them I would be happy to email them to you directly.
While stopped at a busy intersection the vehicle stalled and would not restart. Everything went blank. We believe it was the idle stop start feature malfunctioning. Lost all vehicle power including hazard lamps, speedometer, and gauges. Vehicle was previously in for recall on farka cables and idle stop start update. Honda dealer replaced battery 2 Months prior
Backup camera recently began displaying a purple and green screen making the image in the backup view unable to be seen. Vehicle is garage parked or nearly always under covered parking. Taken to a Honda dealership and told camera needs to be replaced.
Car dies at stop lights, we believe this is related to the idle stop. The battery was replaced battery 4 months ago due to the same issue.
The car shuts down completely at so lights. Have to charge it again for the car to start again.
For several months there was a crackling sound coming from the dashboard/ speakers. I mentioned this problem to my service advisor on at least 2 different appointments and even showed him a recording of the problem. It was never fixed. Finally, My entertainment center stopped working altogether. It would not even turn on. I once again reminded my service advisor about the crackling/ popping sounds and wondered if these problems were related. They stated a cable was loose, reconnected and my entertainment center began to work again. Unfortunately, the crackling and popping sound continued. When using the audio system, the speakers would abruptly make crackling and popping noises, similar to static noises, which caused the audio to interrupt and cut out. Even when I turned the audio off, the speakers continued to make the crackling and popping sounds. This was extremely nerve recking, and caused safety concerns because I was...
While driving and vehicle is in motion, vehicle loses all power, all electrical components turn off and vehicle shuts off. To reiterate, this is not the idle stop power down, this is the entire vehicle shutting off. Last time I was driving at 45 MPH when all power lost. Taking vehicle to dealership for pending recalls this week. No warning lights, no messages on display, just seemingly a random loss of power.
My vehicle has completely shut-off numerous times after stopping at a stop light or stop sign while my idle stop option is on. I biught a new battery, which did not resolve the issue.
There are many instances where my wife Honda Pilot 2019 touring would shut off at a stop light and on high way with traffice and will not start back up. The whole car shuts off and there is a whole procedure to get the car back on. This has happened to my wife, my daugter and me several times, which is very dangerous situation.
Auto Idle function stopped the engine while waiting to make a left hand turn on a busy street. When trying to make the left hand turn the engine was unable to restart resulting in engine warning lights as well as battery warning lights and a complete shutdown of the car and all systems. Warning lights only appeared when I took my foot off the break and pushed the gas pedal to reengage the engine and move. This left the vehicles lifeless and stranded in the middle of the street for a few minutes before I was able to restart the car after a few failed attempts to do so. This left me stranded in the middle of a busy multi lane street in San Diego with cars having to go around me back into traffic to get by. I have had other instances of stopping at lights where the auto...
Switch assy don't work don't turn on the switch flash on and off i AM scary that i can get in a accident if the car turn off that other problem that i got is the paint is coming out that is not the original paint it be a recall for pilot for the switch i think the years is 2016-2017
When my car is at a stop, the engine idles and will not restart. Sometimes, charging the battery will upstart the engine, while sometimes it will not start at all. We've had the battery checked several times, and the battery checks out fine. The car has an electric shift, and I can't place it into neutral to push the car tot he side. So, we wait in the midst of a heavily trafficked intersection until a tow truck comes. This has happened several times in heavy traffic and once in our driveway. After yesterday's incident, I asked my friend who has the same car to see if she has similar issues. She said YES! After bringing the car to the dealer numerous times, she turns off the idle engine everytime she drives, and she hasn't had the issue. I also researched on Google, and this seems to be a recurring...
My 2019 Honda Pilot Touring (7 passenger) has a defect with the auto stop-start system that is a major (and scary!) safety concern. On a handful of occasions over the past couple of years, when stopped at a traffic light (and the auto stop-start feature engages) the engine will fair to restart. My wife has complained that this happened to her several times, and finally this week I was in the car to witness it for myself. The car went from drive to neutral ON ITS OWN, instruments began flashing, the "i" indicator came on, and we couldn't get the car back into drive. We had to turn the car all the way off and back on in order to get it back into drive. I took a picture of the dash and will upload it here. I've read online that this might be caused by a cold battery; however,...
Back camera failure and shows image with color mixed. This creates an unsafe environment and its hard to recognize anything with this issue. This makes it unsafe for the driver who is backing up and to the people behind the car. Honda will not address it saying its not related to the cable recall NHTSA Recall #: 23V-431. I believe this cable issue actually fails the camera as well and Honda should address it as well. This issue looks like is not a random issue and there are lot of cars that are having this issue.
Place vehicle into reverse gear, then backup camera displays on infotainment screen, The view on the screen displayed in purple , green and blue hues making the image of what is behind the vehicle unclear and unsafe to operate in reverse.
To address the General Guidelines questions, the responses are identified below: 1. Charging System problem appeared on dashboard. Took the vehicle for inspection 9/18/23. 2. Possible vehicle crash/death if stopped suddenly, highly possible 3. Yes, see uploaded 2nd file 4. No, the vehicle has not been inspected per entities noted above. 5. There appears to be hesitation in the vehicle operation. See 1st uploaded file as message appeared on dashboard. NOTE: On the dealership report, it appears the tech conducted tests of the components associated with the matter. Did he/she conduct a visual inspection of those components? I am scared of driving of vehicle because of the possibility of being stranded or crash or death to myself or others, as the reasons I am producing this report. I have made my family members aware of the problem and this report to you. Regards, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM...
My rear camera does not work in my car. I received a recall notice regarding this. It was unable to be completed because my Infotainment system is completely non functional at this point. This is an on going issue that I have had with this car almost immediately after purchase. My speedometer also disappears while driving… the screen goes completely black and I have no idea how fast I’m going. It happens numerous times a week at this point.
The rear view camera isn't working. The camera itself is the problem according to the dealer, which isn't covered by a similar recall that was related to a cable. They claim the module itself stopped functioning for no known reasoning, which costs about $800 to replace.
came to stop sign at busy intersection and engine shutoff as part of the auto engine stop. The issue is when I let off the brake the engine did not restart and put the car in neutral. had to cut off and restart.
Was driving normal and the windshield camera radar fail, and a lot of warning lights come on, take to a dealer and told me that some internal part of the camera fail, and need to be replace, they estimate for that is $1600, now I’m driving with out automatic brake, no cruise control, no line keeping assistant, 2019 Honda Pilot Ex-L, I think is a common problem and need to recall this,. Thank you
NHTSA Recall # 23V-431. MOST cable needs to be replaced for the backup camera. Received recall notification on August 5, contacted dealer on August 7 to schedule repair. I was given November 28 as the date for the recall repair. That date is 113 days from my scheduled date. This time frame is unacceptable and more than the 60 days noted in the recall letter.
Auto start-stop failure. After the auto start-stop engages (turns off engine at intersection), sometimes the vehicle does not restart. I have to press the starter on the dashboard to restart and put the transmission back in gear. Other times, when it does restart like it is supposed to, it flashes a "collision alert warning" on the dashboard when it restarts. These incidents started about three months ago and are now happening much more frequently.
Crackling sound in speakers and error message on touch screen (entertainment screen front) MOST NET OFF and screen goes off. This is a safety issue as when we are drving on roads we are usually relying on google maps, when screen goes off during critical turns, driver gets distracted and park the car to side road, which sometimes is dangerous due to other fast moving vehicles. Many times when screen goes off it distracts the driver by not keeping eyes on road. The crackling sounds are very loud, it sometimes make the driver apply sudden braking on highways due to distraction.
Auto off engine idle. At stop after activating the auto off, the engine cuts off and no power to move vehicle. Unable to restart or shift into park for at least 20 seconds. Have to shift to park, then off and on again.
The Infotainment System in my 2019 Honda Pilot Touring has had problems with its display since September 2020 when it went dim/dark all by itself while driving. The unit would come back on at some point by itself. The unit would not acknowledge the controls being accessed by me. This unit includes the rear camera-a vital safety item of the vehicle. The below is the sequence of events to date. The infotainment center is still not functioning properly. 1. Sep 9 2020: Brought car to Honda due to a dark not functioning infotainment screen which includes the back-up camera. Honda replaced the audio unit (Display, Center). 2. Feb 27 - Mar 7 2023: Infotainment center cracking from speakers and dropping calls and sudden signal off. The crackling and dropping calls would proceed the system completely shutting down by providing a multitude of errors to include: Network Communication Lost: MOST Net...
Car is at 56K mileage. I was at a stop light engine was running, when I took my foot off the brake and tried to accelerate the engine died, the dashboard flashed a collision warning, (there were no cars or animals near my car), then all the screens dashboard behind steering wheel and on middle console all went blank. I restarted the car and made it home fine. Drove the car the next day for several stops (street and highway driving), then the same thing happened at a stop light and it restarted and I made it home fine. The third day there were no problems while driving 30+ miles streets and highway. The fourth day, drove about 15 miles to work and all was fine. Drove about 13 miles street and highway just fine. Ran an errand and car would not restart. Pressing the engine start button resulting in...
My wife was driving the car with our six-year old son. She stopped at a red light. The engine turned off from the auto-stop function (which we find annoying but cannot be permanently disabled) and the car would not restart. The warning lights were going crazy. The battery was so dead that the car could not even be jumped. There was no warning whatsoever. It was an extremely dangerous situation as the car died in the middle of a busy street. Thankfully it was close to home and I was able to come and take over. until help arrived The police had to come and divert traffic. People were honking and threatening me while I waited for the tow truck. When the two truck arrived, we could not get the car into neutral to move it out of the street because the gear shifting required the engine to start. It...
In multiple incidents, our 2019 Honda Pilot stalled and would not restart. In two such incidents, the vehicle stalled and all systems became inoperable (including the hazard lights) at busy intersections, endangering the lives of my wife and two small children. The vehicle has been to the dealership where it was originally purchased (brand new) without resolution. There were no warning or indicator lights prior to the incidents. Honda has indicated that there may be an issue with the auto-idle system on certain vehicles (which this may be related to), but has not issued a recall despite this incredibly dangerous and life-threatening issue.
The entertainment display which is also the rear view camera display, turns off intermittently during driving and displays the following message: Network communication lost MOST Net Off. When this happens the rear view/back up camera doesn’t function creating an unsafe situation. The display will work again after turning the car off and then back on. The issue is random and unable to be reproduced. A dealer hasn’t confirmed the issue. It hasn’t been inspected. There were no warning lamps or display messages before the issue occurred. It has happened a 6-7 times in the past 9 months.
Auto stop/start in vehicle activated at red light, vehicle engine turned off and would not restart. Vehicle kept saying shift to Park to turn on engine, vehicle was in park. Waited a few minutes at the intersection, engine finally turned over and car started. An issue had occurred multiple times before stopping at a red light, but usually it just turns off my radio or digital dash board when auto start/stop is activated, and the radio comes back on if you let off the brake and the feature is disengaged.
