On October 15, 2023, with my EV battery charged at 69% and about 2 minutes after beginning my drive, I suddenly received a warning on the dashboard which stated "Stop Safely Now". Within 5 seconds, the vehicle would not accelerate and eventually came to a stop. The first episode of this occurred on Sunday, October 15. My car had to be towed to Gullo Ford in Conroe, TX, where I purchased the car in March 2022. The vehicle was serviced by Gullo Ford's service department on October 16, 2023. The repair invoice references replacing the electronic parking brake harness connector and reprogramming the battery charge control module per recall on October 16. 2023. I picked the vehicle up from Gullo Ford on the afternoon of October 16. The car worked normally until Monday, October 30, 2023 when the same thing happened. About 2 minutes after starting and driving the car,...

Display gave warning - Service Vehicle soon and car did not start after being parked for about an hour. Outside temp was 65F. Car was driven about 400 miles that day including DCFC once. Had to be towed to dealership where it has sat for over 3 weeks with no repair and no information about what is wrong. I had someone familiar with the Ford system look up the codes who found that there was likely a problem with HVBJB that now is recalled. Not sure what to do anymore since dealership has car for 3 weeks now.

After using fast charger in Santa Rosa Ca, to 85% proceeded to freeway on ramp, getting on freeway on ramp, Message came up on screen "STOP SAFELY NOW" 2nd Message. "FULL ACCESSORY POWER ACTIVE. I pulled over to shoulder, unable to restart car. After getting started after 15-20 minutes again the same thing happen again 5 minutes later blocking lanes of traffic. Restarted after 25 minutes went to Ford dealership which was 1 mile away. Rented car and waited the next day till I called at 4;30 to see how car was and it was. The reason for incident from Ford technician was due to Erroneous network traffic caused the fault.??????? Needs to say I'm selling my MME 2021 I can't be stuck on freeway onramp or anywhere else, this is very unnerving to a [XXX] women and her 14 year old dog. while driving, the range on the electric battery went from 150 miles to only 64 miles in less than a minute. when i went to the DC fast charger it gave error and could not charge even after i verified that the fast charger was operational because the next car was able to charge car with no issue. after a while when i charged the car, it started charging but drastically reduced the battery range. i have attached the picture. at 78% it only gave me 76 miles range. usually at 78% it gives me a 180 miles or higher. took my car to the dealer to run diagnostics and dealer don't seem to agree to any battery issue.

Car gave me the high voltage fault that many Mach e owners have reported. Car is in the dealership now and I don’t have the car. Why weren’t these recalled?
#11549035 |
Ford delivered the car with only one key FOB which was corrected in later builds of the car. To fix this they had a program where you could go to your dealer to get the second key FOB for free. I set up an appointment to go to the dealer and was reassured that even though the date was after the expiration of the program I would still get the second key for free. When I went in I was told this was untrue and every Ford representative has told me that even though I was lied to they would not fix things for free as it should be with the program. Eventually I was told to contact nhtsa about this issue. I currently have to use my phone as a key which has become increasingly unreliable requiring my backup code often to be entered into the car even when...

Forward collision warning constantly going on. Brought it for service and told them but still going on
#11548102 |
I want to draw attention to a significant concern: U.S. auto safety regulators announced in August of this year that they are currently investigating whether Ford Motor's 2022 recall of nearly 49,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicles comprehensively addressed the associated safety concerns. The basis for the 2022 recall was that the high voltage battery main contactors could overheat, particularly from DC fast-charging and repeated wide-open pedal events. This overheating presents a very real danger as it could result in an immediate loss of power, markedly increasing the risk of a vehicular accident. Furthermore, after the recall, Ford issued a technical service bulletin, directing the replacement of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box on the recalled vehicles. However, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has since opened a recall query. This action was prompted by 12 consumer complaints related to Mach-E vehicles that had supposedly received the necessary recall...

We came out to our parked car and got a message that said Stop Safely Now. The vehicle would not shift into gear. The dealership had confirmed that the high voltage junction box has failed. We did not get the Service Vehicle Soon warning prior to the failure, despite having had the recall software update applied. The first sign of failure was a loss of motive power. This is a safety issue because loss of motive power while driving can result in loss of control of the vehicle. The loss of heating and cooling combined with the loss of motive power is also a significant safety risk if the failure occurs in a remote location experiencing extreme temperatures. The part has yet to be replaced, but I’m sure Ford will be retaining it for inspection.

Loss power, high voltage problem. On August 13 2023. On a road trip .
#11541581 |
Pre collision assist and front camera malfunctions randomly. Dealer did a software update and has not resolved the issue. This happens at least once every time the vehicle is driven. It is out of warranty and will not be covered. This is a problem that plagues a significant amount of vehicles, I follow a mach-e group on social media and it’s a prominent issue. If you’re using blue cruise. The vehicle stops self driving abruptly.
#11541333 |
The front camera system has failed. The cables need replacing, which was diagnosed by a Ford dealer. I have no collision assist, no cruise control, no lane keeping abilities, nothing that has to do with the camera in front. This is a known problem that Ford is not admitting to. All years of the Mach-E are having this issue, frequently. It has put myself and others on the road in danger by not being able to function as it should. Every time I turn the car on I get multiple warnings on the dash concerning these issues. This is not the only problem and safety issue I've had with this car in less than 9 months of owning it. Something must be done to hold Ford accountable.
#11540624 |
It would appear that after the recall repair my car is experiencing problems that we’re supposed to be addressed with the recall. All systems are constantly malfunctioning.

The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contacts that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice. Unfortunately, the internal damage to contactors is not visible externally, and warning notices on display only AFTER the damage has occurred, and can result in sudden loss of propulsion power at highway speed, loss of power steering, and power brakes... and failure of other 12v systems due to failure to charge the 12v battery properly after contacts are damaged. Less catastrophic results can include failure to start; which can 'strand' driver's and passengers in remote areas, bad weather conditions, as well as cause loss of use for weeks due to delays in replacement parts and local Dealerships needing equipment and training to effect removal/replacement of faulty unit with a new HVBJB having re-designed 'beefier' components. ...

I am filing this complaint regarding the potential failure of the High Voltage Battery Junction Box. There have been many failures reported on the forums some experiencing multiple failures. Ford provided a software update that supposedly predicts an impending failure reducing available propulsion power. I do not feel comfortable driving a vehicle with a ticking time bomb. Losing propulsion power while driving at highway speeds could result in a serious safety senerio. I would like to see Ford provide a real fix.
#11540027 |
Ford has installed a sub par HVBJB in my car which was manufactured in 12/01. In lieu of replacing the poorly designed unit they have added software that does not guarantee that the car will not brick. Numerous car have failed and I am afraid of having my wife drive the car at night for fear of it breaking down. This is a ticking time bomb.

Began to receive error messages stating "Front Camera Fault" and "Forward Collision Detection Fault". For a while it fixed on its own, then the messages started to become more and more frequent until now the error messages come up every time we turn on the car. With the malfunction that is happening with front camera and collision detection, it prevents cruise control from being used (which is adaptive) and forward collision warnings are not working/inactive. The lack of both of these systems presents a safety issue. The car has been taken to the local Ford dealership which has determined what needs to be replaced (the front camera and cables connecting the camera). However the parts must come from the Ford manufacturer and there is current no ETA that the dealership is being given for the parts to be delivered. When searching online for this issue, there are other owners that...

I had my 2021 Mustang Mach-E updated with the recall software last year. In July of 2022, my High Voltage Battery Junction Box (HVBJB) still failed, giving me a service vehicle soon and SEVERELY reducing power WHILE driving. I was on the freeway and my car just started reducing speed since I was trying to pass someone and I almost hit them. I received the new HVBJB from my dealer and had been fine since. Then a couple of weeks ago, I received the errors AGAIN with this "new and improved" HVBJB that Ford said is more robust and not supposed to fail. Same thing, on the same freeway I commute (73 toll road in California). I was passing someone and the car hit me with all these errors and SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my power. Like 66% reduction. I had to get back into my lane and was able to get...

On Friday 8/18/23 I was driving down a major freeway and my Mach-E jolted violently. I then received a "Stop Safely Now" and "Service Vehicle Soon" message. The vehicle lost all power at this time. Being on a very busy freeway my safety was at risk and I was luckily able to coast over to the right shoulder. The car refused to "start" after pulling over however the 12v battery did work so I was able to use accessories. Once towed to the dealer I was able to confirm a P0AA2 TSB code that indicated that a conductor was stuck open on the high voltage junction box. This was supposed to be fixed by a previous recall software update that FORD uploaded to my car however that was not the case. I am now without a car for 2 weeks but more importantly I am concerned for the safety of...

After receiving the remedy to NHTSA campaign 22V-412 on Aug 5, 2022 via a Ford Power-Up over-the-air update, my high-voltage battery contactors still overheated and failed on Oct 25, 2022, requiring warrantied replacement by my Ford dealer on Oct 27, 2022.
#11539544 |
This is the second time they have to replace the HVBJB on my car . First time was on 9/2022 and now again on 8/16/2023. the car is in the shop for the same issue.

I was driving on the highway (12) in Mandeville, Louisiana and the car (a 2021 all electric Mustang Mach E with only 13k miles) flashed a 'Stop care safely now' sign and then proceeded to power down within 3 seconds of the message. I exited (luckily I was at my exit) and felt the car lose power on the exit ramp. Three signals came up (battery - yet I was at 100% - then a turtle mode and not sure what the third symbol was) and then the car locked up - went into park, would not move or allow me to put into neutral to pull off a very busy highway ramp. I was forced to a dead stop on the ramp (very dangerous). I put on my hazard lights but cars still pilled up all around me, beeping etc. at high rates of speed. I called 911 and...

Erratic behavior when semi-autonomous Blue Cruise engaged. Fault may be due to failures/malfunctions in side view mirror camera modules.
#11520294 |
I have been having an intermittent warning error saying my front camera is faulty and my lane assist is no longer operational. The error seemed to come and go with bumps. Here recently it has become permanent around the beginning of April 2023, and I no longer have functionality of many safety features including adaptive cruise control, regular cruise control, lane assist, crash prevention warning, automatic braking, or even regular cruise control (if I try to turn off the adaptive cruise in the settings regular cruise control still does not work), automatic bright lights don't work. I have been trying to get this resolved since I purchased the car but despite a dozen or so trips to the dealership I cannot seem to get it fixed. I've attached a screenshot of some of the dozens (hundreds?) of error messages I have received through the Ford app with the car, which...

I went to start the vehicle and it gave me a red warning "stop safely now". It was already stopped and would not start at all. It had plenty of charge on the battery pack. It's been at the dealer for nearly two weeks and they have had to order the HVJBC, I believe. I am fortunate that it didn't fail while driving or parked in a place which was inaccessible to a tow truck. The forum I read recommended making a report. This seems to be an all to common problem with this car and can lead to sudden acceleration or deceleration while in motion. Had had received an earlier yellow warning for "service vehicle soon" and took it to the dealership and they assured me they had updated all the software (in the hopes of preventing the "stop safely now" problem). Obviously, that didn't work.

Unintended acceleration from a stop when pushing accelerator. Has happened 2 times in the last 2 days. I touched the throttle from a stop 2 time and it took off like I put the accelerator to full throttle (which I didn’t). Very dangerous situation in parking lots or around pedestrians. I have scheduled an apt with my local dealer.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the park safely warning light was illuminated and the vehicle stalled. Additionally, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

Ford released an OTA update for the HVB issue Mach-E were having and leaving drivers stranded. I have seen that even with the update many people are still having the cars break down while driving and needing the High Voltage Battery Connector replaced. I am worried that this may happen to my car one day while driving and could cause an accident or death. Is there anyway to force Ford to fix every car that had this issue before we break down? The temporary fix of software is not good. I think FOrd should be forced to recall all Mach-E and replace the connector before there is an accident that leads to deaths on the road.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that several local dealers were contacted; however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Occasional blank/inoperative info screen, typically recovers after reset or re-start, but sudden loss of visibility of ALL settings and controls for heat, navigation, and most importantly loss of the ability to enter backup Start code for keyless start can cause possible stranding in dangerous conditions. Loss of control of heating/cooling could cause loss of visibility if defrost is unavailable, or heat stroke if air conditioning is unavailable. My understanding is that re-designed console screens are available to address this known defect in vehicles built prior to June 2022, but no recall has been issued.

Ford has failed to take corrective action regarding their Safety Recall Notice 22S41 ( high voltage battery main contactors may overheat and remain open or weld closed). They have not supplied the program updates NEITHER by Wi-Fi or vehicle modem via Automatic Updates for which my vehicle is set up to receive NOR by way of the Ford dealership (Brewster Ford, Brewster, NY) having possession of my vehicle for THREE (3) full days. They are simply unable to remedy Safety Recall Notice 22S41 endangering my family and I. Please take whatever action that you are allowed to fixed the problem before someone gets hurt. Thank you.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V711000 (Visibility) and 22V412000 (Electrical System) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he received a warning from the manufacturer app of a high voltage spike and that the vehicle would shut down. The contact exited the highway and pulled into a parking lot where the vehicle shut down. The contact could not restart the vehicle. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The mechanic was able to restart the vehicle. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. * On October 16th, 2022, at about 7:00 pm, I was driving my 2021 Ford Mach-E GT when we began to change lanes (we were in the left lane heading East) as the vehicle in front of us slowed down to make a left-hand turn. There was a car behind us and two vehicles in the right lane (two-lane road in each direction) that were a few car lengths behind us as we began to change into that lane. When I turned on my signal and turned the steering wheel, I pressed the gas pedal to accelerate to get around the car in front of me to keep my distance from the vehicles in the lane I was transitioning into. Unfortunately, when I pressed the gas pedal, we experienced complete vehicle failure. I had no steering, brakes, or acceleration. Within a short time (30-45 minutes), we had no power as...

HVBJB failure, vehicle lost power and threw an error “stop safely now”; will not drive
#11490039 | Crash
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while her mom was driving, the vehicle accelerated without warning. The electrical system was inoperable. While the contact was driving at low speed in a parking lot approaching a stop sign, the vehicle accelerated. The brake pedal was applied but the vehicle continued to drive and crashed into a Toyota 4 Runner. The air bag deployed and impacted the driver in the face and she sustained knee injuries and cuts on her stomach and blood in her stool. A police report was filed. There were no reported fires. The vehicle was towed to an independent collision center. The vehicle was taken previously to the local dealer where the hardware was updated and a reboot was completed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not...

HVBJB failure
#11485919 |
My 2021 Mustang Mach-E GT Performance is exhibiting a Powertrain Failure and Stop Safely Now message in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). It is due to a high voltage battery junction box (HVBJB) failure. Ford needs to replace the HVBJB with an updated part and reprogram the BECM, at least. The dealer has no information on the replacement part, and has not associated TSB 21-2178 with the vehicle.

Have had 2 separate incidents in which while driving down highway, car switched into slow mode, powering down and ultimately coming to a stop. Had to call 911 both times to get to safety; it was very scary. Car is at dealer for 2 weeks as of today. Believe this is a battery problem which has been identified in lots of other vehicles

My vehicle has 13,000 miles on it and I have been driving it without any problems until August 12, 2022 when I turned the vehicle on and there was "service now" and a "Battery service" message. I was aware of this problem because it was posted online and Ford has sent me mail about this problem but I thought it could be fixed by an over the air update, which I performed already. So I contacted the nearest dealer to book an appointment to remedy this issue but the next available appointment was on August 31st so it was 2 weeks from then. I decided to give it a shot and drive it and I was able to drive approximately 40 miles before the car shut down as I was turning right on a stoplight on my way to work. The propulsion did not work along with a series of...

My vehicle had the NHTSA Recall Number 22V412 performed 2 weeks ago via an OTA update. Today while driving the vehicle I had critical failure while the vehicle was in motion rendering the vehicle unsafe. It was determined that the part which failed was the part addressed in the recall campaign. The recall should not be considered satisfactory remediation of the issue as it did nothing to prevent this safety concern with my vehicle. Software cannot fix an improperly designed piece of hardware.

The vehicle would not start and display an error message "pull over safely now" which the car was not able to put in any gear. This incident happened 2 times already. The first incident was when i drove the vehicle from Oregon to California. As i was about to leave the next morning from the hotel, the vehicle would not turn un and display the message "pull over safely now". We had to call a tow truck to pick up the vehicle and drop it off at a Dealership in California for about 30 days. We pick up the vehicle and drove back to Oregon and the same issue happen again in less than a week with the same error message "pull over safely now".

Failure of HVBJB after associated recall compliance. One day after recall compliance, “stop safely now” message displayed, vehicle would not power up. Towed to dealership. HVBJB failure verified via FDRS. Dealership replaced HVBJB.

On May 14, 2022, I stopped twice on a 120 mile trip to recharge my Mach E at a level 3 DC charger. Upon completing each charge, the ring around the charging port turned red and I received a default message. I plugged my car into my home level 2 charger and the car completely locked down and I was unable to reenter the car. I have since learned that this is the classic sign of a HVBJB failure. The dealerships updated the car's programming but did not replace the HVBJB. The HVBJB subassembly in ALL Ford Mach-e vehicles has known defects with 'under-designed' main contactors that are known to fail under normal charging and driving conditions as outlined in current open Ford recall notice for my vehicle 22s41.
