THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (LONGMONG FORD IN LONGMONT, CO) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALVE AND CANNISTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL, IT SHAKES AND HESITATES AND JUMPS/SHUTTERS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS UNTIL IT GETS UP TO A CERTAIN SPEED. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AND BASICALLY EVERYWHERE I AM STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. IT HAS ALSO STARTED HESITATING WHEN PUT INTO GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MONACO FORD, 767 NEW LONDON TURNPIKE, GLASTONBURY, CT, 06033,) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE E-VAP CHAMBER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
BOUGHT A 2014 FORD FOCUS 1/17/16AND 6 MONTHS AFTER OWNING IT, THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED WHEN TAKING OFF AT A GREEN LIGHT, HAD LOST POWER AROUND CORNERS. GOT A RECALL NOTICE JUNE 2016 GOT A NEW CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION POWER TRAIN. JANUARY 2017 PROBLEM PERSISTED BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER THEY SAID ITS OVER 60,000 WARRANTY AND HAVE TO PAY CASH FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR . COULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY IT WOULD NOT SHIFT. BROUGHT IT BACK WITHOUT RECALL NOTICE JUNE 20, 2017, AND THE DEALER SAID THEY WILL FILE A 360 ON REPAIR OF THE CLUTCH. WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO CALL NOW 6/21/17 . I NEED A RELIABLE CAR FOR WORK AND MY FAMILY AND CAN NOT DRIVE THIS CAR. SO SCARED DRIVING IT 3/4 CLOSE CALLS AND REAR ENDS. IT SITS AS I PAY FOR IT EVERY MONTH.
WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP AND I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, MY FORD JERKS RAPIDLY. IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE I HAVE TO PRESS ON THE GAS FORCIBLY IN ORDER TO ACCELERATE TO A NORMAL SPEED LIMIT. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO COMPLAIN TO THE ORGINAL DEALERSHIP METRO FORD ON NOLAND ROAD OF THE ISSUE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SHUDDER TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE AND ALTHOUGH THEY STATED THEY RESET THE ISSUE THEY TRY TO CONVINCE ME THAT IT IS NORMAL WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. THIS VEHICLE IS AN EXTREME HAZARD AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN. I AM AFRAID IT WILL STALL AT A BUSY INTERSECTION IN THE FUTURE.

WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT COOLANT HAD LEAKED ONTO THE ENGINE FROM THE COOLANT RESERVE BOTTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (DUPHY FORD LOCATED IN PHILADELPHIA, PA), BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWN HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE FAILURE CAUSED A LEAN CONDITION IN THE ENGINE AND CAUSED THE OXYGEN SENSOR TO FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE AT THE DEALER. HOWEVER, DURING THIS INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE IDLED AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND AN OVERHEATING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WARNED THE CONTACT TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO...
FIVE TIMES THIS CAR HAS COMPLETELY STOP AT 60MPH DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY 494 MINNEAPOLIS,MN. STALLED 5 TIMES. THIS CAR HAS ALMOST KILLED ME 5 TIMES. ITS BEEN SERVICED 5 TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR A NEW CAR THAT WONT KILL ME. EVERY TIME ITS SERVICED THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES ME A FEE.
ONE OF THE MANY INCIDENTS: WHILE AT A CITY STREET STOP SIGN, I PRESSED THE GAS, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE (THE ENGINE REVVED WITHOUT MOVING) I LET OFF THE GAS AND REAPPLIED PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL. THE VEHICLE SLOWLY MOVED, THE VEHICLE GAVE A HARD JERK THEN THE VEHICLE MOVED AT A REASONABLE SPEED WITH THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED WHILE DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET. WHILE ACCELERATING, VEHICLE FREQUENTLY STALLS AND/OR HESITATES TO CONTINUE ACCELERATION CREATING A JERKING AFFECT UNTIL IT CAN ACTUALLY CATCH AGAIN OR PROVIDE FUEL TO ACCELERATE. THIS TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN PRESSING ON THE PEDAL BOTH WHEN STOPPED/START OR IF IN MOTION AND ACCELERATE TO GO ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING ON A DAILY BASIS.
ENGINE VIBRATES ON BLOCK AND IS VERY NOTICABLE WHILE SITTING IDOL AT STOP LIGHT IN EITHER DRIVE OR NUETRAL. I HAD TO DEALERSHIP TWICE AND LAST TIME THEY REPLACED STABLIZERS THAT THE ENGINE SITS ON AND IT DID HELP A LITTLE BUT STILL HAS SAME PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT IT IS THE BEST THEY CAN DO. THE PROBLEM BECAME NOTICABLE ABOUT 10,000 MILES INTO OPERATION.
THE TRANSMISSION/ENGINE HESITATES/STALLS WHILE DRIVING. ROUGH ACCELARATION.THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 65MPH AND NOTICE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVING WEIRD WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, WHEN I SLOWED DOWN THE CAR WOULD SHAKE WHEN TRYING TO GAIN SPEED AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OFF OF THE FREEWAY PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO LOOK THE CAR OVER. TURNED OFF THE CAR TO CALL SOMEONE, TRIED TURNING THE CAR BACK ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES AND THE CAR HAD COMPLETELY LOCKED DOWN, HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW TO DEALER CAR HAD 21,000 MILES ON IT. DEALER STATED THE ISSUE WOULD BE FIXED SOME TYPE OF UPDATE NEEDED DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER STATES EVERYTHING IS WORKING PROPERLY. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (NEW), I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BE REPAIRED TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEAL DURING THE 3 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT - ONCE, THEY REPLACED/REBUILT THE CLUTCH, TWICE FOR UPDATES TO THE COMPUTER, AND A SEPARATE TIME FOR THE TIRES AND WHEEL WELL (THE DEALERSHIP SAID SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY UNEVENNESS IN TIRES, THE WHEEL WELL ALSO NEEDED REPAIR AFTER MY TIRES WERE ROTATED). THE CAR CONSISTENTLY STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE AFTER COMING TO STOP, SUCH AS AT A YIELD, MERGE, STOP SIGN, STOP LIGHTS, OR FROM SLOWING DOWN. IT SHAKES, JERKS, STUTTERS, MAKES A CREAKING METAL SOUND, AND MOST CONCERNING, STALLS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO LEARN MY DRIVING STYLE, HOWEVER, THREE YEARS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALL MAINTENANCE....

CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CORPORATE OFFICE REQUESTING A BUYBACK DUE TO THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS, THEY DID AN "GOOD FAITH REVIEW" AND INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT BUY BACK MY CAR. THE WOULD NOT EXPLAIN THE REASONING OR ISSUE AND PAPERWORK SHOWING THE REVIEW, "FORD DOES NOT HAVE TO RELEASE THE FINDINGS SINCE IT WAS A GOOD FAITH REVIEW".
POWER LOSS TO DRIVE TRAIN AND VEHICLE DISPLAYS "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE. THIS HAD HAPPENED REPEATEDLY WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON PUBLIC ROADS.
GOING LESS THAN 10 MPH THE CAR WAS MAKING A WIDE TURN ON MY STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE WHEN FOCUS ACCELERATED AND WENT THROUGH A WIRE FENCE, TAKING DOWN A METAL STAKE, OVER LIMESTONE BOULDERS BEFORE HITTING A TREE, STUMPS, AND BUSHES ON MY PROPERTY. WE ARE EXPERIENCING EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE (41) REPORTED ON THIS WEBSITE AND MORE PEOPLE ON OTHER WEBSITES ON INTERNET. TURNING CORNERS ALSO MADE MY CAR LAUNCH FORWARD THEN BACKWARDS SUDDENLY. CAR WAS REPAIRED. CONDITION SLIGHTLY IMPROVED BUT I COULD STILL FEEL A CONSTANT HESITATION UPON ACCELERATION. I BECAME USED TO HAVING TO MASH MY FOOT ONTO THE GAS TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY, THEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF AS IT VIOLENTLY JUMPED INTO EACH GEAR. I PURCHASED IT ON 5/3/2014 AND TOOK IT HOME TO NOTICE 2 DAYS LATER THAT THE TRIM OF THE BODY FRAME WAS COMING UNDONE AND ALSO THE FRONT BUMPER WAS DETACHING (IT WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE). I TOOK IT BACK AND GOT THE PARTS FIXED. THEN A MONTH LATER I RETURNED IT BACK TO THE SHOP FOR STALLING, HESITATION, RPM'S GOING UP TO 5, VIBRATION OF CAR AND GOT THE PCM/TCM REPROGRAMMED. THIS WAS ALL GOING ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN ANY ROAD AND GOING ON THE GAS FROM A LIGHT/STOP SIGN. I'VE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED (TOOK 3 MONTHS OF CAR IN SHOP TO DO THAT). HAD THE PCM/TCM REPROGRAMED ABOUT 8-9 TIMES. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 11 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. I JUST PICKED IT UP LAST NIGHT FOR ANOTHER REPROGRAM OF THE...
TRANSMISSION IS JERKY, DIFFICULT/SLOW TO ACCELERATE MAKING FOR UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE CAR HAS OTHER IS ISSUES BUT THIS IS THE WORST. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND FAILS TO ACCELERATE WITH POWER OR SPEED WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP, CHANGING LANES, GETTING ONTO A FREEWAY, OR DURING TYPICAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. FORD MAKES EXCUSES - FIRST IT WAS THE COMPUTER, NOW IT IS THE CLUTCH. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I LEASED IT AS A BRAND NEW CAR DEC. 2014.

THE CAR SEEMED FINE FOR ABOUT TWO DAYS AND IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. WE TOOK IT IN TO THAT SAME DEALER ABOUT A WEEK LATER AND ONCE AGAIN ADJUSTED THE SENSOR AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS IN MANUFACTURER STANDARDS. I'M PRETTY SURE WHEN I BUY A CAR I BUY IT FOR A SMOOTH RIDE, NOT SOME STUTTERING LOUD ENGINE MAKING CAR. IT'S LOUD ENOUGH PEOPLE STARE AT MY CAR. WE GOT THE RECALL NOTICE AND THEY SAID THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND THE SENSOR AND IT'S BEEN FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND NOW THE LOUD NOISE IS BACK SO I'M ASSUMING...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE "ENGINE FAULT, SERVICE NOW'' MESSAGE DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUTTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS FAULTY. THE PCM AND TCM WERE REPROGRAMMED AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR NOW FOR 18 MONTHS AND IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR CLUTCH ISSUES THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED NOW TWICE AND THEY UPDATED MY COMPUTER TRYING TO FIX THE CLUTCH AS WELL. MY CAR IS STILL NOT RUNNING PROPERLY. IT HAS A ROUGH IDOL WORSE THAN WHAT IT WAS BEFORE I GOT MY CLUTCH REPLACED YESTERDAY AND IT JERKS WHEN STARTING OUT ( THIS JERKING IS NOT BAD RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I JUST HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED BUT ITS STILL THERE) I HAVE REQUESTED THIS VEHICLE TO BE BOUGHT BACK MULTIPLE TIMES AND I GET A NO AND THEY WONT TELL ME WHY AND DONT RETURN MY EMAILS. DESIGN FLAW IN "DOUBLE CLUTCH" AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THAT CAUSES "SHUDDER" AT LOW SPEEDS, SLIPPING ON HILLS, AND "JERKING" AT HIGHER SPEEDS. MOST APPARENT AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN, OR ON A HILL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSE TO FIX, BEYOND A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. ONGOING.
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, GOING INTO REVERSE WHILE DRIVING, SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING, ETC. RECENTLY, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT OUT AND REVERTED TO MANUAL STEERING. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING IT FOR A WHILE, I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND PULLED OVER. UNDER THE HOOD, THE FUSE BOX HAD CAUGHT FIRE, BUT WAS BLOWN OUT BY THE WIND WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD. 20,500 MILES.
WE BOUGHT A 2014 FOCUS ON MARCH 27, 2015 AND DROVE THE FOCUS WITHOUT PROBLEMS UNTIL JANUARY 2016. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2016, THE ENGINE OIL WARNING WAS FLASHING. ALMOST ALL THE OIL WAS DEPLETED. IT HAD BEEN LESS THAN 5,000 MILES SINCE THE LAST OIL CHANGE, SO IT WAS STRANGE. WE TOOK OUR CAR INTO KAYSER FORD THE NEXT DAY. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT NOT ENOUGH OIL WAS FILLED PREVIOUSLY. THEY THEN FILLED OIL TO THE MAX LEVEL. ON MARCH 10, WE CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL AFTER 500 MILES SINCE THE LAST CHANGE. THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. WE WENT BACK TO KAYSER, AND THEY FOUND THAT THE OIL LEVEL VARIED. THEY SUSPECTED AN OIL BURNING PROBLEM. WE THEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ENGINE SPECIALIST AND HAD 2 QUARTS OF OIL PUT IN. ON MARCH 15, WE VISITED KAYSER AGAIN AND HAD THE ENGINE...
THE VEHICLE A 2014 FORD FOCUS S MODEL WAS MOVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED OUT DUE TO THE WIRING SPLICES GOING BAD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL OUT AND STOP WITHOUT WARNING
AT AROUND 12000 MILES, NOTICED UNSETTLING SHUDDERING OF TRANSMISSION GOING UPHILL. HAD FORD DEALER INSPECT AT 14000 MILES AT WHICH TIME THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT FOR 1000 MILES TO SEE IF THAT FIXED IT. IT STARTED SHUDDERING AGAIN IN FIRST GEAR AT 15000 MILES. I WAS TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A CLUTCH, BUT THERE WAS A BACKORDER LIST FOR THESE CLUTCHES OF 4-6 WEEKS. I AM DRIVING IN FEAR OF WORSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON THE WAY THAT MIGHT CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AND PEOPLE. BAD HESITATION/JERKING WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP POSITION I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE ORDERED A PART BACK IN OCTOBER 2015 WHICH STILL HAS YET TO COME IN, AND I WAS INFORMED TODAY IT WILL BE ANOTHER 6 WEEKS BEFORE IT ARRIVES. TAKATA RECALL. MY COMPLAINT IS THE SEVERE HESITATION WITH MY CAR WHEN TAKING OFF. I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE 09/20/2013. IT IS A 2014 FORD FOCUS.
