TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE MISFIRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE ECO BOOST. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. RED ROCK NISSAN (2582 US-50, GRAND JUNCTION, CO 81501, (970) 644-8020) DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR SPECIFICS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
ENGINE FAILURE - LIMP MODE - THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE FORD F-150 ECOBOOST THAT FORD AND NHTSA HAVE YET TO ADDRESS/ ISSUE A RECALL. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR LESS THAN A MONTH AND IT HAS TWICE NOW GONE INTO 'LIMP MODE'. MERGING LANES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE FAILED, A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER READING HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM OTHER F150 OWNERS I WAS ABLE TO SEE THAT THE DEALERSHIPS AND FORD KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BUT HAVE YET TO ADDRESS IT. I CHECKED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THEY WERE FROM THE FACTORY, YET GAPPED INCORRECTLY AS OTHERS HAVE STATED. THE THROTTLE BODY ALSO WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS HORRIBLE PRACTICE BY FORD AND NHTSA SHOULD ADDRESS THE THOUSANDS OF...
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. WRENCH APPEARING, TRUCK IN LIMP MODE, NO POWER WHEN ACCELERATING, EVEN WHILE IN PARK. TRUCK HAS 31,000 MILES.
I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND DECELERATED AND A WRENCH ICON APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY. I PULLED OVER LUCKILY SAFELY WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT TURNED MY TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON AND DID NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE AGAIN. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. HOPEFULLY MY FAMILY DOES NOT GET HARMED WITH THIS VEHICLE IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL SOMEONE DOES WITH THIS ISSUE HAPPENING.
BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 14,000 MILES. BEFORE 30,000 MILES HAD A SMALL RATTLE WHEN STARTING. ALWAYS FOLLOWED SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. AT 92,000 MILES CODE P0016 COMES UP. TOOK IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT WAS TOLD TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED AND ALL 3.5 LITER ECO BOOSTS FROM 2011 TO 2014 HAVE DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS BUT FORD HASN'T RECALLED IT YET. APPARENTLY THEY HAVE SENT BULLETINS TO TECHNICIANS ON IT, ADMITTING DESIGN FLAWS. WHY NO RECALL!?
THIS VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN DURING OPERATION ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE FIRST, WAS A MINOR REPAIR. THE SECOND, CAUSED OVER $11,000 IN DAMAGES, AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. EACH TIME IT OCCURS, THE LOSS OF POWER CAUSES A DECREASE IN THE ABILITY TO STEER AND ALL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN. WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, WE HAVE BEEN IN FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES AS WE HAVE HAD TO QUICKLY STEER THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE LANE OF TRAFFIC AND HOPE THAT WE ARE ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP.
CYLINDERS 5, 6, 7 AND 8 ALL BLEW HEAD GASKETS ONE RIGHT AFTER THE OTHER STARTING WITH NUMBER 8.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SONORA FORD (13254 MONO WAY, SONORA, CA 95370, (209) 532-5593) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUSE WAS NOT COVERED EVEN AFTER THE CONTACT SHOWED THEM THE TSB. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

AFTER THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

1) DUE TO A POOR DESIGN, MYSELF AND MULTIPLE OTHERS USERS HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH FAULTY / POORLY DESIGNED COOLANT HOSES. THESE HOSES WOULD RANDOMLY DISCONNECT OR SPILL COOLANT. CURRENTLY, MY TRUCK IS LEAKING COOLANT AND EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE HOSE, IT IS STILL OCCURRING. HAVING LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH MISFIRES. ENGINE SHAKES AND SHUTTERS DURING IDLE. IF I TRY TO PASS A CAR ON HIGHWAY THE TRUCK WILL GO IINO A SEVERE SHAKE AND THEN WILL NOT ACCELERATE. GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. HAVE TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE TRUCK DOWN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN START BACK UP. THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM. MORE PRONOUNCED DURING RAINY DAYS. HAVE REPLACE COIL PACKS SPARK PLUGS MAP SENSORS AND STILL HAVE NOT SOLVED PROBLEM.
I TOOK MY TRUCK TO OIL CHANGE NEXT DAY I NOTICED SOME SMOKE FROM THE HOOD, I THINK, IS JUST SOME OIL SPILL SOMEWHERE AND IT IS ALL. BUT THE SMOKE KEEP APPEARING EVERY MORNING, I START USING THE HEAT AND THE SMELL OF OIL BURNING WAS INSIDE, SO I STOPPED AND CHECK WHAT IS GOING ON I DON'T SEE ANYTHING, SO I DECIDED TO TAKE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN CHECK WHAT IS GOING ON, BEFORE I MAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTS BLINKING AND THE TRUCK SHAKING WHEN I GET THERE I SPLAIN EVERYTHING TO THE GUYS, THEY CHECK EVERYTHING AND TELL ME THE TURBO HAS A LIKE. AFTER DIAGNOSIS BY FORD DEALERSHIP THAT TIMING CHAIN ON THE ECOBOOST ENGINE WITH ONLY ABOUT 75,000 MILES ON IT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. ABOUT 5 DAYS AFTER TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT THE HESITATION RETURNED AND UPON DIAGNOSIS BY FORD DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THE PHASERS WERE BAD. DESPITE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING IN 2011-2015 FORD F 150 ECOBOOST MODELS IN AMERICA AND CANADA FORD REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS A DEFECT. WHILE MAYBE NOT DIRECTLY A SAFETY ISSUE I BELIEVE IT IS AS ONE OF THE FAILURES OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTAE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE PASSING A SEMI TRUCK AND POWER WAS LOST AND EVASIVE ACTION HAD TO BE TAKEN TO AVOID A COLLISION DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN...
WHILE ACCELERATING UP A HILL TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WENT INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE. FORTUNATELY I HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO MAKE IT TO A SIDE ROAD AS THE COUNTRY ROAD HAD NO SHOULDERS. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTARTING, EVERYTHING RAN NORMALLY AGAIN. VEHICLE DEVELOPS A COOLANT LEAK FROM THE QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS ON THE TURBO. THE LEAK STARTED AT 30K MILES. FITTINGS CIRCLED IN GREEN LEAKED FIRST. THEN THE BLUE ONES BEGAN LEAKING AT 31K MILES AND WHEN REPAIRING THE ONES IN YELLOW WERE REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL
TRUCK HAS 46665 MILES. WHEN DRIVING FIRST 10 MINUTES (CITY DRIVING) VEHICLE SHUDDERS, SHOWS WRENCH INDICATOR AND GOES INTO LIMP HOME MODE (NO ACCELERATOR). HAVE TO PULL OVER, TURN OFF IGNITION AND RESTART ENGINE. PROBLEM CODE SHOWS P2112 (THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM...STUCK CLOSED). THIS MAY HAPPEN 3 TIMES IN FIRST 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING, BUT THEN GOES AWAY WHEN CAR WARMS UP. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED ABNORMAL EXHAUST SMOKE AND BAD GAS MILEAGE. HAVING TRUCK GO INTO LIMP HOME MODE IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS.
ETB. WE LOST POWER ON ARE 2014 F 150 ECO BOOST DOING 50 PLUS MILES AN HOUR .. OUT OF NO WHERE IT STARTED TO NOT ACCELERATE AND JUST SHUT DOWN . CHECK ENGINE POPPED ON WE MANAGED TO MOVE TO THE SIDE . IT STARTED UP AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON . IT DROVE TO NEAREST SHOP TO HAVE CODE CHECKED THEY SAID OH ITS THE ETB.. THAT'S RECALLED. SO WE EXPLORED AND RESEARCHING WHY IT'S NOT ON RECALL. WE WERE ABOUT A MOMENT AWAY FROM BEING SLAMMED INTO THE CONCRETE MEDIUM FROM BEHIND.

TURBO WENT IN THE TRUCK WHICH THEN CAUSE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. MECHANIC SAYS THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND TURBOS NEED TO BE REPLACED QUOTING OVER 10K. ALSO, A NEIGHBOR HAD A 2014 F150 DO THE SAME EXACT THING AROUND THE SAME MILEAGE AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS VERY ODD.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WARPED EXHAUST MANIFOLD RESULTING IN BROKEN MANIFOLD STUD, EXHAUST LEAK AND EXCESSIVE ENGINE NOISE
TIMING CHAIN RATTLE ON START UP, LEADING TO COMPLETE FAILURE
2014 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST. ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER AND GO INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH ORANGE WRENCH. DEALER CLAIMS THEY CANNOT RETRIEVE PROBLEM CODE SO I BOUGHT A OBD SCANNER AND DTC CODE READS AS P2112. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I WILL HAVE TO GET THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY REPLACED. THE FIRST TIME THE TRUCK HAD APPROX. 62,000 MILES ON IT, THIS TIME IT HAS APPROX. 111,000. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. BOTH TIMES THIS PART HAS FAILED I HAVE HAD MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THE TRUCK AND HAVE HAD TO LITERALLY DODGE SEMI TRUCKS AND OTHER CARS NEARLY CAUSING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS TO MAKE IT TO A SAFE SHOULDER. WAITING FOR A FACTORY RECALL, I WILL NOT LET THIS GO. IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AT THIS POINT.
WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK MY TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF. THERE WERE ONLY 2 LANES WITH NO SHOULDER. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED OTHERS. I GOT LUCKY. I TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AND SAID I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. OF COURSE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND BEING FORCE TO PAY THE $400 BILL. THE SERVICE GUY PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THAT FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE YEARS AGO BUT IT'S NOT COMMON ANY MORE. WHY ON EARTH WAS THIS NOT RECALLED. IF FORD KNEW ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES THAT COULD POTENTIALLY KILL THEIR CUSTOMERS OR OTHER TRAVELERS THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING AND RECALLED THE VEHICLE!
THROTTLE BODY WENT OUT AFTER 40,000 MILES. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WRENCH ICON POPS UP AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE TRUCK STALLS AND ENGINE CUTS OUT. TAKE IT TO FORD AND THAT PART IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY.. BIG SURPRISE. TALK TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO EITHER. SO OUT 600 BECAUSE FORD KNOWINGLY SELLS THESE VEHICLES WHEN THEY KNOW THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IN MOTION WHEN PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTED TO STUTTER AND LOSE POWER. THE ENGINE ICON STARTED FLASHING. THE ICON WENT AWAY SHORTLY AFTER THIS BUT THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES IN REGARDS TO THE 3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINE DOING THIS.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH SAID VEHICLE. MY TRUCK HAD 35,863 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I WAS TOLD A VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY IT WOULD BE FIXED FOR FREE BUT PARTS ARE ALL ON BACK ORDER. I WAS ADVISED I COULD STILL OPERATE MY TRUCK UNTIL PARTS ARRIVED. TODAY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND AGAIN MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER WITH ENGINE STILL RUNNING AGAIN. I WAS AGAIN...
THE TRUCKS OVERHEATS AND IGNITION COILS FAIL. THIS MAINLY HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS.THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO LOSE POWER AND LEAVES ME STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY BROKE DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW. FORD HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY NO HELP IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF OVER TEN IGNITION COILS FAILING AND MULTIPLE ENGINE OVER HEATINGS.

HE MANUVERED TO THE SHOULDER FROM THE INSIDE LANE. THE TRUCK INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON, BUT NOTHING ELSE. NO POWER TO ANYTHING WHEN KEY IS INSERTED. WE ARE LUCKY WE WEREN'T KILLLED. THE COOLANT IN MY VEHICLE HAD LEAKED OUT AT THE FIRST SIGN OF UNUSUALLY COLD WEATHER HERE IN ATLANTA. I HAD TO WAIT A WEEK TO GET THE HOSES/ORINGS TO FIX MY VEHICLE BECAUSE FORD CO. REPORTED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE BECAUSE SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES THAT HAD THE SAME FAILING PARTS WERE TRYING TO ORDER DURING THE COLD WEATHER LAST WEEK. NOW THAT IS IS REPLACED, IT IS STILL LEAKING THE COOLANT OUT. MY MECHANIC SAYS LEAKING THIS MUCH COOLANT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO IT HARMING ENGINE/MOTOR AND VEHICLE FIRE. THE HOSES AND O RINGS LAST WEEK THAT THEY PUT ON MAY ALSO BE COMPROMISED., AS THEY ARE LEAKING TOO. SURE WOULD LIKE TO BRING THIS TO ATTENTION OF FORD CO.

F150 REPEATEDLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND POWER. THE TRUCK WENT INTO A VERY LIMITED LOW POWER STATE AND MANY NEAR COLLISIONS WERE NARROWLY AVOIDED AS THE TRUCK RAPIDLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND GLIDED TO A STOP.A RED WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE DRIVER DISPLAY STATING A "MECHANICAL" ISSUE. THIS HAPPENED 50 PLUS TIMES ON SURFACE STREETS AND 10 PLUS TIMES WHILE ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS ISSUE GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER A TWO-WEEK PERIOD CULMINATING IN THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY BEING FULLY REPLACED.
LOSS OF POWER IN 2014 F150 ECOBOOST. THE PLUGS WERE CHANGED OUT AT 30,000 AND THEY WERE COVERED IN OIL. I HAVE NOTICED THE ENGINE STRUGGLING MORE WHEN I TOW UTV WITH SINLGE AXLE TRAILER. THE POWER IS DIMENISHING WITH MILEAGE. THE OIL (SYNTHETIC) IS CHANGED EVERY 3,000 AN ITS IS SPENT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW FROM FORD WHY MY TRUCK AT COLD START IDLES RUFF, DECREASE IN GAS MILEAGE AND NOTICED DECREASE IN TORQUE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A YEAR AND A HALF.
THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH ON I-25 IN NEW MEXICO. IT WAS VERY SCARY TRYING TO PULL TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER IN TRAFFIC WILL NO ENGINE POWER APPARENTLY AVAILABLE. THIS OCCURRED ON TWO MORE OCCASIONS BEFORE THE DEALER COULD SEE THE VEHICLE. SUBSEQUENTLY LEARNED THAT WHAT THE PU DID WAS ENTER THE "LIMP HOME" MODE. WHEN THE DEALER FINALLY LOOKED AT THE ERROR CODES IN THE TRUCKS MEMORY, THE CAUSE WAS A DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY (ETB). IT'S REPLACEMENT HAS RESOLVED THE ISSUE AT LEAST FOR NOW.

THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY AFTER CHECKING OASIS AND FOUND MULTIPLE HOTLINE CONTACTS WITH SIMILAR CONCERNS. WHEN PULLING TRUCK INTO SERVICE BAY THE THROTTLE BODY STUCK PARTIALLY CLOSED. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO NOT GET HIT BY...
2014 FORD F-150 LOOSES POWER AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED IN JUNE OF 2016 BECAUSE OF SAME PROBLEM. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY SERVICE REPAIRS. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I HAD TO QUICKLY SIGNAL AND COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. THERE WAS A WRENCH ICON ON THE DASH AND A WARNING THAT THE TRUCK WAS STUCK IN 4X4. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER READING THE MANUAL, I STARTED THE TRUCK AND ALL SEEMED FINE UNTIL I TRIED TO MERGE AGAIN AND AGAIN NO POWER FROM THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER.
