Vehicle got stuck in the snow. Tried getting vehicle out and almost had it free when I noticed the temperature gauge rising. I then shut the vehicle down and was calling for help for 10 minutes then noticed a flame come out of the engine bay. Yelled for my family to get out. Me and my wife rushed to get our kids out of the vehicle and down the road. The cab and engine bay are gone. I don’t know what caused the fire but it needs to be figured out my family was endangered.
I was travelling down the highway at near 60 mph and without warning the truck shuttered and shifted to first gear. This nearly started and chain reaction crash with myself and 3 other vehicles as I was nearly rear ended, I also could've easily lost control. Had I been towing my travel trailer at the time this would have caused a major accident without question. 2 codes were thrown at this time P0720 and P0722, this comes back to a Lead Frame issue with the transmission. I took the truck to my local dealer and they stated they couldn't get the issue to happen again and that there was nothing wrong as they could tell because the codes do not store. The only symptom prior to was all the went blank just before the truck shuttered and went to first gear.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the speedometer went to 0 MPH and the transmission inadvertently shifted to 1st gear, the engine revved up, and the rear tires almost locked up. The service engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle shifted to LIMP Mode. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 290,000.
Approx. speed of 50 mph vehicle suddenly dropped into 1st gear resulting in rapid deceleration. Both speedometer and tach were fluctuating and had no direct correlation with actual vehicle motion. Defect was momentary and truck resumed to normal shifting pattern and normal speedometer/tach function.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made knocking sounds and then lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that there was a connecting rod failure and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
My transmission had been acting funny earlier in the day. Like not changing gears correctly. Later in the day, driving home from work, it started bucking and and the instrument cluster started going crazy. It started accelerating and I had to hit the brakes. It never threw any codes. A couple days later driving I had no power, and instrument cluster went crazy again. I seen a wrench and finally threw a code. I keep a code reader in my truck, it threw po720. It started driving fine after I turned it off and back on. I went home and read about the Ford F150 lead frame recall and my truck was made at the same plant. However Ford says, I am not covered. I do not understand how they can cover trucks a couple months before mine.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted to first gear, making the vehicle uncontrollable. The speedometer became inoperable. The contact stated that the rear tires locked up with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the lead frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 185,000.
Timing cover seal is leaking oil onto exhaust pipe causing the engine to smoke.
Hello - My 2014 F150 experiencing this issue, but FORD says my VIN is not on the recall list. Truck pulled brake fluid into the engine from faulty brake booster / master, lost all brakes, lots of smoke, brake fluid reservoir empty. Brake Master Cylinder May Leak into Booster NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V332 A loss of brake fluid may result in a change in brake pedal travel and feel, increased pedal effort and reduced front brake function, possibly requiring greater effort and distance to stop the vehicle. These conditions can increase the risk of a crash.
The driver side exhaust manifold it warped can hear chirping noise and leaking exhaust fumes into cab on start up
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and the contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V709000 (Exterior Lighting, Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and shifted into Limp Mode. The contact pulled off the highway safely and turned the vehicle off. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that she was able to turn the vehicle back on and the warning lights were no longer illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring issue at various speeds. The contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at speeds above 45 MPH, the transmission would erroneously shift to 5th gear and remain seized in 5th gear. During the failure, the check engine warning light and wrench warning lights were illuminated. The contact indicated that while disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, the vehicle would operate as normal but eventually, the failure would reoccur. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the shift solenoid but the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 118,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal with the bank-1 sensor warning message displayed. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who replaced the bank-1 sensor; however, the failure persisted. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his employee was driving, the brakes became inoperable. The low brake fluid message was displayed. The contact stated that the brake fluid reservoir was 95 percent empty; and additional fluid was added to the reservoir. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that brake fluid had entered into the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 106,173.
Engine underpowered/turbo under boost: had this issue numerous times with the original engine (which failed at just over 85k miles). I've put less than 5k on the current replacement engine and it's happening again. This is especially concerning when merging into interstate traffic. Second issue: backup camera starting malfunctioning intermittently shortly after purchasing. It displays an error message 90% of the time. When it does display the image is backwards.
The studs for the exhaust manifolds rusted away and the exhaust is now leaking into the passenger compartment and bypassing all emissions systems. This is a common problem with Ford F150s. Ford has since changed the alloy used in the studs to prevent this from happening.
-Exhaust manifold leak and stud breakage. -Vehicle isn't performing as expected. -Yes -Not inspected by manufacturer -Yes, check engine light appears when problematic
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the transmission malfunctioned and downshifted to 2nd gear. The contact stated that the engine control warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle home and called the dealer. The vehicle was driven to the dealer but was not yet repaired. Submitting another complaint about this issue. 2014 F-150 SuperCrew 3.5L TT with 6 speed transmission. Was driving with my whole family in the car yesterday, 03/06/22. Truck started hesitating again, RPMs went crazy, MPH gauge freaked out. I shifted into neutral before the truck would go into a skid like it did the other day. Put the truck back into drive and it was fine. Turned around and took our other vehicle. This thing is a death trap. Recall the 2014 model year now. I've found several others online with 2014 model year with the same issue.
I was driving today, around 60 MPH, with my parents in the truck. All of a sudden my truck slammed into a lower gear, skidded the tires, and everyone was thrown forward in the vehicle. I almost lost control. I know there is a recall for the 2011-2013 Ford F-150 for this, but NOT the 2014 model year (mine). This is the second time it's happened where it's skidded the tires, and it's happened at least half a dozen other times where it hasn't skidded. This WILL cause an accident in time and this IS an issue with other 2014s that I've read about online. Today I was lucky there was nobody behind me or it would have caused a rear-end collision. This needs resolved NOW. I have a wife and three kids that also ride in this vehicle, it's our main family vehicle.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle downshifted from 5th to 1st gear inadvertently. In addition, the rear wheels seized without warning. The vehicle was restarted and was driven in third gear at a slow speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the solenoid needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
2014 F-150 engine shuts off, abruptly while driving. Burned F27 fuel pump fuse in fuse box. Ford states VIN [XXX] is not covered by TSB 15-0137. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Coolant leaks and rear glass shattering!!
Engine exhaust manifold warps and the manifold heads break off in the block
Exhaust manifolds are warping causing a severe exhaust leak at around 45K miles. Vehicle sounds like a bird chirping or wild animal screaming when accelerating. This repair is quite costly and requires several parts and labor hours. No vehicle with this low miles should require such a costly repair so early. Ford needs to make it right with all owners of these vehicle's by recalling and fixing the issue with the engine exhaust manifolds warping. I was quoted $1,700 per manifold x2 to get the leaks fixed and my truck safely running down the road again without making embarrassing noises. Anyone who has had to make this repair should be fully reimbursed for the parts and labor by Ford. When they make the repair they replace the failed parts with the exact same parts the truck come with so until they are forced to come up with a solution all us...
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THE TIMING CHAIN IS THE PROBLEM. 73,000 MILES. VERY FEW MILES A YEAR AND NO TOWING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE FUSE BOX TO BE RELOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THERE'S A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FUSE #27 OVERHEATING AND CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO STOP WORKING. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH. IT AFFECTS MANY YEARS PRIOR TO 2014. THIS IS SERIOUS AS IT CAN LEAVE PEOPLE STRANDED. IT HAS NOT THROWN A COMPUTER CODE FROM 2014 F15. SIMPLY REPLACING THE FUSE DID ALLOW STARTING BUT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE'S A FUSE RELOCATION KIT (EL3Z-14293A) AVAILABLE BUT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PERFORMING THIS REPAIR. THE FUSE DOES'NT BLOW OUT BUT THE FUSE SOCKET OVERHEATS FOR SOME REASON.
FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY MACHINED MANIFOLDS FOR THE F-150 THAT ARE LESS THAN RELIABLE AND LACK IN QUALITY. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE NOT HARDENED TO ENDURE ENGINE HEAT AND END UP WARPING. THIS CAUSES EXHAUST BOLTS TO BREAK, EXHAUST GASKETS TO BE DESTROYED AND IN TURN CAUSES LOUD NOISES AND POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR ON THEIR F-150 TRUCKS. FORD OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM ON THEIR HANDS AS THEY ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH 1,700+ VEHICLES THAT ARE SITTING IN SERVICE SHOPS ACROSS THE COUNTRY FOR THIS VERY REASON. I CALLED FORD TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS CAUSING THE ISSUE AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE MATERIALS JUST AREN'T HOLDING UP TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. FORD IS WORKING REDESIGNING THE MANIFOLDS AND RELEASING THEM FOR PURCHASE. HOWEVER, IT YOU HAVE AN ISSUE THIS LARGE AND HAVE ADMITTED THAT IT IS DUE TO YOUR OWN FAILURE TO PRODUCE A PRODUCT/PART THAT WILL...

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A COMMON ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TRAVELING DOWN A TWO-LANE ROAD ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK'S ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND AN ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN. HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BLOCKING TRAFFIC DUE TO NO SHOULDER. HAD TO PUT TRUCK IN PARK, TURN OFF MOTOR AND ONLY THEN WAS ABLE TO GET MOTOR RUNNING AGAIN. MANAGED TO GET 1/4 MILE BACK HOME. FOUND OUT FROM MY OBD DIAGNOSTICS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STUCK. ONLY OPTION WAS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY TO ENSURE IT DIDN'T OCCUR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR WORSE, A MAJOR INTERSECTION. NO PROBLEMS SINCE REPLACEMENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 70 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER COASTED THE VEHICLE TO SHOULDER AND WAITED FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE 3 TIMES BUT WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE ANY FAULT CODES. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
I RECENTLY FINANCED A TRUCK AND THE SELLER DID NOT DISCLOSE THAT IT WAS A FLOOD DAMAGE VEHICLE. I DID AUTO CHECK AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS ALSO RECALLS ON THE TRUCK WHEN HE SOLD IT TO ME. THAT HE DIDN'T FIX RECALLS ARE FOR THE SEATBELTS N THE BOLTS FOR THE SEABELTS. THE TRUCK ALSO IS LEAKING OIL. HE ALSO TEMPERED WITH THE ENGINE LIGHTS BECAUSE IT'S LEAKING OIL BUT NO LIGHTS TURNED ON. I WANT A FULL REFUND OF EVERY DOLLAR I HAVE GIVEN HIM. HE ALSO LIED ON THE ODOMETER .
WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD, THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND SERVICE WRENCH CAME ON. I PULLED TO SIDE OF A 2 LANE RD AND COASTED TO A STOP. TURNED THE CR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND CODE WAS GONE. I DROVE FOR ABOUT 4 MINUTES AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER AGAIN. THIS REPEATED ABOUT 4 TIMES AS I WAS IN A MOUNTAIN AREA WITH NO CELL SERVICE. I HAD TO TO KEEP TRYING TO COAST AS FAR AS I COULD TO FIND SERVICE. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF STALLING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I WAS ABLE TO GET CELL SERVICE AND CONTACT HELP. AT 1AM WE GOT A TOW TO THE DEALER THAT JUST REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS UNRELATED TO THE SERVICE JUST PERFORMED AND WE HAD A BAD THROTTLE BODY. THE ITEM WAS REPLACED.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN MY TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY, I HAD A JERKING MOTION WITH REDUCTION IN SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE CODE P0016 REPRESENTS A TSB OUT ON ECOBOOST ENGINES FOR TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED. THE COST FOR ME TO FIX IS $4100. THI
VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE OR USE ANY TYPE OF THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. HAD TO CONTINUALLY DRIFT TO A SHOULDER ON THE HIGHWAY TO TURN OFF VEHICLE BECAUSE THE THROTTLE BODY WENT BAD. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, VEHICLE BECAME INOPERABLE AND UNSAFE TO BE ON ANY ROADWAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED 65 TO 75 THE TRUCK JUST SHUTS DOWN ,STOPS RUNNING THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IN 5 YEARS THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US ALMOST HAD A MAJOR REAR END MISHAP AS A SEMI WAS ON US GOING UP A BRIDGE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC,A WRENCH SHOWED UP ON DASH DISPLAY TRUCK STARTED BUT DIED 3 MORE TIMES AT ROAD SPEED IN 20 MILES. *TR
MOTOR HAS BEGUN TO MAKE A LOAD CLANKING SOUND WHEN STARTING. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED IT IS THE TIMING CHAIN
AS I WAS ACCELERATING THE TRUCK STOPPED ACCELERATING AND IDLES ROUGH. WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO GET THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH OUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. CAME TO A STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, TRUCK STILL IDLEING BUT ROUGHLY. PRESSED DOWN ON ACCELERATOR AND NOTHING HAPPENED. ENGINE DIDNT REV UP AT ALL. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. RESTARTED AND THEN EVERYTHING WAS FINE. WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH EVEN WENT OUT.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF A PUDDLE OF OIL ON THE GROUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WAS STILL PENDING. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000. *DT*JB
I DROVE MY F-150 ECCOBOOST TRUCK TO THE SNOW, SAME AREA I HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND SUDDENLY SMOKE BURST FROM THE ENGINE, THEN FLAMES SHOT OUT AROUND THE HOOD, POPPED THE HOOD AND FOUGHT THE FIRE FOR HALF AN HOUR, IT KEPT RESTATING. IT STRANDED MYSELF AND CHILDREN, AND WE HAD A HARROWING EXPERIENCE THAT WAS PRETTY DICEY. FORD HAD JUST PUT IN A NEW ENGINE, AT MY COST, +14,000.00, AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED. THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT AT THEIR COST, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE COPIES OF THE FAULT CODES FROM BEFORE THE FAILURE OF THE TIMING CHAIN THAT DESTROYED THE OLD ENGINE. THE NEW ONE HAD UNDER 10,000 MILES ON THE NEW ENGINE, PROBABLY ABOUT 5,000 MILES ON IT. WE HAD DRIVEN ON THE RELATIVELY FLAT GRADE MAINLINE ROAD, AND DROVE UP ABOUT 0.8 MILES, CLIMBING MAYBE 400 FT ELEVATION OVER THAT DISTANCE. I WAS...

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WE SAW LOOKED OUT THE REARVIEW MIRROR AND SAW WHITE/GRAY SMOKE COMING UP FROM BETWEEN THE TRUCK BED AND THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. WE EXITED THE FREEWAY. WHILE EXITING THE WHITE/GRAY SMOKE TURNED TO BLACK THEN FLAMES SHOT UP. WE PULLED OVER AND GOT OUT AS THE FLAMES CONTINUED TO GROW. WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE BUT IT GREW VERY FAST. THE BACK GLASS EXPLODED AND THE ENTIRE CAB AND FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED. 911 WAS CALLED. FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED AND PUT OUT THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE AND CONTENTS WERE A TOTAL LOSS. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORTS STATES THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR UNDER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING FLAMES TO SHOW FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING HEAVY DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT.
