After starting the vehicle and putting it into drive, the vehicle would not shift out of 1st gear. RPS revved nearly to red-line and even when I removed my foot from the gas pedal, the revs remained high. Even when underway, the speedometer registered 0 MPH and the odometer was showing only dashes "-------------". After a short time, the wrench symbol appeared on the display and the airbag warning icon was illuminated. I pulled over and turned the truck off and back on and it operated normally. No error codes were stored and my service shop will not work on it since it is not happening all the time. On a different occasion about a week ago, I was driving up a residential street incline and the truck was not shifting from 2nd gear. I pressed the accelerator more and all of sudden the truck shifted extremely rough jerking myself...
IN JUNE OF 2018 I PURCHASED MY 2012 F150 5.0 WITH 16,250 MILES. I NOW HAVE 40,650. BACK IN OCT OF 2020 I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRUCKS ENGINE SPUTTERING, CHUGGING, ETC.. WHEN ACCELERATING IN DAY TO DAY TO TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE WOULD RUN VERY ROUGH WHILE I SAT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WAITING FOR THE TRUCK TO "WORK THROUGH IT" OR COMPLETELY DIE. I'D WAIT A FEW MINUTES, START IT BACK UP AND BE ON MY WAY. I CAN BE SITTING AT A LIGHT, IT TURNS GREEN AND I TAKE OFF AND IT'LL ACT UP OR EVEN WHEN I'M TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWS DOWN TO TURN AND AFTER THEY TURN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND IT ACTS UP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150 THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 TO 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DARKENED DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MOVED ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER, SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND OPENED THE DOOR TO RESET THE COMPUTER. THE CONTACT THEN UNLOCKED THE DOOR, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A SELF DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE VEHICLE AND RETRIEVED DTC CODES: P0722, P1500, T0720 WHICH CONFIRMED A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE SPEED SENSOR WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DON RICH FORD COMPANY INC (221 E MONTGOMERY ST, VILLA RICA, GA 30180, (770) 459-5132) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER DECLINED TO RE-FLASH THE COMPUTER AS REQUESTED BY THE CONTACT....
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL ON A MAIN STREET WITH MY KIDS WHEN MY F150 2012 SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME ALSO. I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND MAKE MY WAY TO MY HOUSE. I TOLD MY WIFE WHAT HAPPENED AND SHE MENTIONED THAT SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED TO HER. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL TO SOLVE THE ISSUE AND COULD FIX IT IN APPROXIMATELY SIX DAYS. AFTER PICKING THE TRUCK UP THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE DRIVE HOME. IT DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR FROM 3RD OR 4TH AND ALMOST LOCKED UP THE TIRES ON A BUSY ROAD. I WAS...
THE 2011-2013 FORD F-150 ECO BOOST IS KNOWN TO HAVE TIMING CHAIN STRETCH ISSUES CAUSING POSSIBLE TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. 25 MONTHS AGO WE SPENT $3,700 HAVING CAMS AND PHASERS AND ALL CHAINS REPAIRED BY A FORD CERTIFIED DEALER WITH FORD MOTOR CRAFT PARTS. LESS THAN 1 MONTH FOLLOWING THE WARRANTY OF THE WORK THE SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN HAS FAILED LEAVING THE VEHICLE USEABLE WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING DOWN A GRAVEL ROAD AND WE ARE LOOKING AT ANOTHER $3,700 REPAIR PLUS A TOW AND INCONVENIENCE FOR A KNOWN AND REPEATED PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THESE ISSUES.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN AS SOON AS I GOT OUT MY TRUCK SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE SERVICE LIGHT AND ALSO THE WRENCH LIGHT AND AS I WAS DRIVING MY SPEEDOMETER WOULDN'T GO PAST 0 BUT WOULD STILL ACCELERATE. MY TRUCK WAS 10,000 MILES OUT OF ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN ON COLD START UP THE ENGINE WOULD RATTLE ON STARTUP. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER IN MY AREA AND WAS TOLD THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAM PHASERS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAD MY TRUCK FOR 2 MONTHS. WITH PARTS ON BACK ORDER. WITH THE TRANSMISSION SERVICE I HAD DONE THE TOTAL BILL WAS 3,085.51. THE TRUCK WAS REGULARLY SERVICED EVERY 5,000 MILES BY A FORD DEALER. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT LACK OF MAINTENANCE IT WAS AN ENGINEERING FLAW FROM THE MANUFACTURER. DUE TO THIS I FEEL LIKE I SHOULDN'T BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE.

OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN CHANGED WITHIN RECOMMENDED INTERVALS.THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEMS FOR THIS MOTOR, FORD ISSUED A TSB ON TIMING CHAIN STRETCH. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE PART FAILURE, AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.

I TOOK MY 2012 F-150 TO BYERS FORD IN DELAWARE,OH. THEY WERE TO PERFORM THE 19S07 RECALL. THEY SAID THEY DID IT. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE TRUCK SHIFTS VERY QUICKLY INTO FIRST AND THE BRAKES FELT DIFFERENT. THEN SINCE I HAVE PUT 4 BOTTLES OF COOLANT IN IT IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. OVERHEATING FREQUENTLY AFTER ONLY 15-20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THEN THE BREAKS DON'T WORK HALF THE TIME AND THE LIGHT COMES ON SERVICE BRAKES, I HAVE THEM CHECKED BY FORD THEY SAY NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. NOW THE TRUCK SHAKES, OVERHEATING FREQUENTLY, BRAKES WORK PART OF THE TIME, WHERE IS THE COOLANT GOING? NO LIQUIDS ON THE GROUND UNDER THE TRUCK BUT IT SMELLS BURNT AND WET IN THE TAILPIPE. UPON COLD STARTUP MY TRUCK MAKES A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE FOR 2-5 SECONDS. THEIR IS A CURRENT TSB OUT TO FIX THIS ISSUE FROM FORD TO REPLACE PRIMARY CHAIN AND ALL 4 PHASERS. THIS ONLY GETS FIXED UNDER NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY, WHICH MY TRUCK IS OUT OF. FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT UNWILLING TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE FOR THE MANY PEOPLE IT IS AFFECTING.

WHILE DRIVING AT 60MPH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO FIRST WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING A SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THE SUDDEN DOWN SHIFT OVER SPUN THE MOTOR, RESULTING IN A LOWER ENGINE KNOCK WHICH A CERTIFIED FORD TECHNICIAN BELIEVES IS THE RESULT OF A BEARING FAILURE. EVEN THOUGH THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A CYLINDER LEAKAGE TEST IN WHICH NO INDICATION OF VALVE INTERFERENCE WAS IDENTIFIED, THE FORD ENGINEER HE WAS DEALING WITH SAID HE HAD SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE! THIS IS THE SAME RECALL ISSUE THAT HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS! THERE ARE DOZENS OF BLOG POSTS WHERE THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED, AT THE VERY LEAST, MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIPS AND IN RARE CASES (NOT INCLUDING MINE), ENGINE FAILURE. SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN LINK CAME APART SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN 2015 AT 66,000 MILES MY WARRANTY PAID FOR IT. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. 2 TIME CHAIN LINKS FALL APART. FORD IS NOT PAYING FOR THIS BECAUSE MY WARRANTY WAS UP 2 MONTHS AGO AND IT IS NOT A PRE CERTIFIED TRUCK, MILES ARE 120,066 MILES. 2 TIMING CHAIN LINKS BREAK IN 4 YEARS???????? THE TECHNICIANS AT SANTA MARIA FORD SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. FORD IS DENYING TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR!!!!!!!

THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED FAILURE CODE: 27 (FUEL PUMP). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE WAS LOCATED IN AN AREA THAT CAUSED THE FUSE TO OVERHEAT. THE DEALER RELOCATED THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO ANOTHER AREA THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO OVERHEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

HAPPENED ONCE PULLING EMPTY TRAILER, HAPPENED 4 TIMES MERGING ONTO INTERSTATE. HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES PASSING / ACCELERATING ON INTERSTATE. FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS WHEN TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY ON INTERSTATE. ROADS WERE WET OR RAINY CONDITIONS IN LAST 5 INCIDENTS. 2012 F150 FX4 WITH ONLY 87000 MILES. NO ACCIDENTS. TRUCK MAINTAINED AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
TSB 15-0131 TIMING CHAIN STRETCHES AND MAKES A LOUD RATTLE UPON STARTING AND EVENTUALLY LEADS TO LOSS OF POWER AND ENGINE DAMAGE. THE KNOWN CAUSE OF THIS IS ALL THE PHASERS,THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PHASERS. THIS IS MY MAIN CONCERN. EVERYONE I KNOW WHO OWNS THIS VEHICLE HAS THIS PROBLEM. THE OTHER COMPLAINT IS THAT I GET 14 MPG.

I WAS DRIVING ON SR 71 NORTH OF COLUMBUS OHIO IN THE RAIN WHEN I CHANGED LANES AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE ENGINE JUST STARTED SHAKING AND MY ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER SITTING A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER A 3RD ATTEMPT THE TRUCK FINALLY GOT UP TO SPEED AND I MADE IT HOME. MY ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. I BEGAN TO READ FORUMS ON THE FORD F150 FX4 AND DISCOVERED MANY MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH MOISTURE AND THE INTERCOOLER SYSTEM.. I COULD'VE DIED TODAY. ENGINE KILLS WON'T START DUE TO FUSE #27 BLOWN
WHEN STARTING TRUCK WHEN HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL HOURS ENGINE MAKES A LOUD GROWLING NOISE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE SOUNDING NORMAL. IT HAD DONE IT OCCASIONALLY BEFORE 02/2019 BUT NOW DOES IT DAILY. SOME RESEARCH ON OTHER FORUMS THAT IT IS THE TENSIONER ON THE TIMING BELT. TRUCK WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. ANY INPUT?
A TICKING/KNOCKING NOISE ON PASSENGER SIDE OF ENGINE. TOOK TO FORD DEALER WITH 52,905 MILES ON 7/12/16 AND STATED FUEL INJECTOR NOISE. TOOK TO SAME FORD DEALER ON 11/7/18 FOR SAME NOISE, ONLY LOUDER, AND DEALER DETECTED NO UNUSUAL NOISE. TOOK TO DIFFERENT DEALER A 3RD TIME ON 3/27/19 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND STATED "NOISE FOUND TO BE NORMAL CHARACTERISTICS" AND WAS GIVEN A COPY OF "SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE 47787 WHICH ADDRESSED A "TICK TAP AND/OR TYPEWRITER NOISE AT IDLE" ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF FORD WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY AND THE SOUND IS ONLY GETTING WORSE WHICH IS WHY I KEEP TAKING IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE SOUND IS NOT HEARD WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED, ONLY WHEN IT STARTS TO WARM UP AND IS QUITE LOUD AT AN IDLE. IF THIS ENGINE WERE TO BLOW UP GOING DOWN...
I BOUGHT IT WITH @ 10,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT [XXX] WITH IT FROM DAY ONE. FIRST OFF I PUT TWO NEW FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND AND BOTH IDLER PULLEYS WERE SQUEALING SO I REPLACED THEM . THEN AT @ 19,000 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH CVJ HALF SHAFTS . NOW AT 45,000 MILES THEY ARE BOTH SHOT AGAIN THE CVJ HALF SHAFTS ARE . ON THE FIRST OF JANUARY THIS YEAR I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING GOOD SUDDENLY IT BEGAN TO CUT OUT AND THE POWER FELL OFF ON ITS FACE. I PURCHASED AN OBD11 CODE READER TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. IT TELLS ME THAT RANDOM MISFIRE DETECTED AND THAT CYLINDERS 5 6 7 8 ARE MISFIRING . LET ME JUST SAY THAT 4 MONTHS LATER AFTER GOING THRU EVERYTHING...
TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL ON IT DUE TO IT GOING INTO FIRST GEAR UNEXPECTEDLY. TOOK TRUCK TO CLOSEST DEALERSHIP TWO WEEKS AGO AND HAD THE RECALL SERVICE COMPLETED. WAS TOLD TO EXPECT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE ON FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS. WHEN IT STAYED ON A WEEK I CALLED THEM BACK TO DISCUSS THE LIGHT STILL BEING ON. RESCHEDULED A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT FOR APRIL 12. ON APRIL 5 AND APRIL 7 THE TRUCK HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. GOING APPROX 50MPH WHEN THE TRUCK WENT INTO FIRST GEAR WITH WHEEL HOP AND SOME FISH TAILING. WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL BASICALLY GO TO ALL ZERO'S AND IT TAKES THE TRUCK BEING TURNED OFF FOR THE COMPUTER TO RESET AND ALLOW TRUCK TO DRIVE NORMALLY. JUST WANTED TO DOCUMENT HERE SINCE TRUCK GOES BACK TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW.
MY TIMING CHAIN ON MY F1 50 WAS STRETCHED AND I PAID OVER $8000 TO HAVE IT FIXED AND HERE IT IS NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER AND IT IS STRETCHED AGAIN. DRIVING VEHICLE AT APPROX 65MPH, ENGINE LOST POWER, ENGINE WRENCH LIGHT, ILLUMINATED, OIL PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, ENGINE SHIFTED TO 'LIMP MODE'. NO ACCELERATION. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. WAITED 2 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. TOOK TO CERTIFIED FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. ISSUE OCCURRED TWICE MORE WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY.
I WAS ENTERING THE INTERSTATE SYSTEM BY WAY OF "ON RAMP". WENT TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED (65 MPH) AND MY TRUCK BEGAN TO SHUTTER AND LOOSE POWER. I HAD TO STAY ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO AVOID GETTING HIT BY A SEMI TRUCK. IT EVENTUALLY BEGAN TO RUN NORMAL.

2012 FORD KING RANCH 3.5 ECOBOOST F150 SUDDENLY DOWN SHIFTS DURING ACCELERATION. IT IS LABORED WHEN ACCELERATING, IT GETS TO THE 6TH GEAR THEN SUDDENLY DOWN SHIFTS.THIS HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO MERGE ON TO THE HIGHWAY AND ALSO WHEN COMING FROM A COMPLETE STOP AFTER SITTING AT A LIGHT, THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO 75 MPH TOO. IT SEEMS LIKE IT LOSES POWER.
I HAVE A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED FORD F150 2012 LARIAT 4WD SUPER CREW 3.5L ECOBOOST, AND I AM HAVING METAL TAPPING NOISE IN THE TOP FRONT OF THE ENGINE ON COLD START UP !!! I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NO TROUBLE CODE SET ! AND SAID NO ISSUE PRESENT, MY TRUCK HAS ONLY 70,000 MILES AND I CANT GET FORD TO VERIFY ENGINE PROBLEM !
THESE TRUCKS HAVE NOW HAD 3 DIFFERENT TSB'S ON THEM FOR CAM PHASERS AND THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHING. WHEN IS THERE GOING TO BE A RECALL? TSB'S I AM REFERRING TO ARE: TSB 16-0027, TSB 15-0131, AND TSB 14-0194. THIS IS COMPLETELY OUT OF HAND. THE FIX DOES ACTUALLY FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE IMPROVED PARTS, BUT THESE VEHICLES HAVE FAILED AND FORD IS EITHER REPLACING THE ENGINE OR ACTUALLY DOING THE WORK IN THE TSB. IF A CUSTOMER IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY MUST PAY FOR THE WORK. THIS IS NOT WHAT FORD IS SUPPOSE TO BE ABOUT AND IS A DISSERVICE TO THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMER BASE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED, THE RPMS SEIZED, AND THE REAR WHEELS SLID. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND WAITED. UPON BEING RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO L.B. SMITH FORD LINCOLN (1100 MARKET ST, LEMOYNE, PA 17043, (717) 761-6700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A VALVE AND SOLENOID BODY NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH HEADING TO TOWN ON A MAIN ACCESS ROAD. I LOST ALL POWER, ACCLERATION, BUT COULD STILL STEER TO A STOP. NOT THE BATTERY IT READS 12.3 AND HAVE POWER TO MY MAIN FUSE BOXES, DOME LIGHTS, BUT NOTHING ON THE DASH AND WILL NOT START. I HOOKED UP AN OBDM AND IT ONLY SHOWS CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE WHICH I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE PLUGS COIL PACKS AND ALSO STILL HAS NOT YET FIXED THE PROBLEM.
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING AN OIL CHANGE, MY TRUCK BEGAN MAKING INSANELY LOUD GRINDING NOISES. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE FROM KNOXVILLE TO CHATTANOOGA AND BARELY MADE IT TO CLEVELAND. MY TRUCK STALLED, STARTED BACK UP AND I COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 50. I THEN FOUND A MASSIVE PUDDLE OF OIL UNDERNEATH WHERE I PARKED. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO JIFFY LUBE.
