Engine coolant over temperature condition. Cylinder head overtemperature condition. Engine air filter restriction pending. Ceased running boards/ rusted. Broken suspensions and bad tie rods. Bluetooth doesn’t connect sometimes. Engine or turbo making loud noises when accelerated.
3.5L ecoboost timing chain failure at only 58,000 miles (code P0016 possible turbo problems TBD Front suspension springs are broken. All of these are common threads on many forums. Ford should be held accountable even though mine is 10 years old, the mileage is the issue. FWIW, they completely redesigned the engine a few years later, but never notified anyone to watch out for these common problems or offer a recall
WHILE DRIVING THERE IS A NOISE COMING FROM THE FROM SUSPENSION AROUND THE WHEELS THAT SOUNDS LIKE RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS. IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT OCCURS ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. THE MECHANIC SAYS IT IS SOMETHING IN THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE COMPONENTS
FRONT SPRINGS HAVE BROKEN WITHIN 1 YEAR OF THIS REPORT
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 F-150 I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD COMPUTER AND THE STEERING WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSE ME TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE STEERING WENT OUT AND I HAD TO MUSCLE THE WHEEL TO TURN THE VEHICLE.
IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING AN OIL CHANGE, MY TRUCK BEGAN MAKING INSANELY LOUD GRINDING NOISES. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE FROM KNOXVILLE TO CHATTANOOGA AND BARELY MADE IT TO CLEVELAND. MY TRUCK STALLED, STARTED BACK UP AND I COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT. IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 50. I THEN FOUND A MASSIVE PUDDLE OF OIL UNDERNEATH WHERE I PARKED. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO JIFFY LUBE.
LOWER STEERING SHAFT IS BAD ( JUST STARTED STEERING VERY HARD )
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR SLOW ROLL, THE TRUCK WILL JERK HARD FEELING LIKE THE IT IS COMING FROM THE DRIVESHAFT. THERE IS NO COMMON CAUSE FOR THIS ISSUE SUCH AS GOING OVER A BUMP, ETC. BROUGHT TRUCK TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS "LEAF SPRING SLAP" WHICH IT IS CLEAR UNDER THE TRUCK THAT THERE IS DEEP GROOVES ON THE DRIVE SHAFT, YOKE AREA. FORD DENIES THIS IS THE ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS 80% OF THE TIME THAT I ACCELERATE EITHER FROM A STOP OR SLOW MOVEMENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 40 MPH OR MERGING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE SPEED DECREASED TO 35 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS POSSIBLY RELATED TO A PREVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE CHARGED AIR COOLER (RELATED TO THE TURBO). THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER HOWEVER THE CALL DROPPED WHILE SPEAKING WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
MAKES CLUNKING NOISE WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS, ESPECIALLY WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED FULLY TO THE LEFT. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ITS GOING FORWARD FOR REVERSE. SEEMS LIKE NOISE AND VIBRATION IS COMING FROM RIGHT SUSPENSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT FRACTURED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,900.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED. ALSO, THE COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND COIL SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
MY TRUCK WITHOUT WARNING JUST STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND BECOMES HARD TO CONTROL. IT HAS HAPPENED 10-12 TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND OVER DIFFERENT ROAD SURFACES. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK "FIXED" TWO TIMES. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND HAS BECOME WORSE AFTER THE SECOND "FIX". NOW NOT ONLY DOES IT SHAKE VIOLENTLY IT MAKES A GRINDING SHOULD TOO AS IT SHAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT END NEEDED TO BE ALIGNED AND A RE-LEVELING KIT NEEDED TO BE ADAPTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
I HEAR A THUNKING NOISE UNDER THE FRONT SUSPENSION OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. MY FIRST REACTION IS IT'S A BRAND NEW TRUCK. IT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE A BAD SWAY BAR LINK. SO I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY FRIENDS MECHANICS GARAGE AND NOTICED FRONT TIRES ARE CUPPED BADLY, AN UNUSUALLY WEAR FOR A NEW TRUCK. WE ROTATED THE TIRES AND CHECKED SUSPENSION. WE NOTICED WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A BAD INNER TIE ROD CAUSE THERE WAS LOOSE UNUSUAL MOVEMENT SIDE TO SIDE WITH THE TIRE ON DRIVER'S SIDE. SO I WENT HOME AND STARTED TO READ ON F150 FORUM.COM AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH 2011-2013 F150 YEAR TRUCK IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE OF THUNKIN NOISE. THE VEHICLE FROM ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE IN OCTOBER OF 2012 HAS EXHIBITED A KNOCK/CLUNK/VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING THAT TRANSMITS UP THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN AND CAN BE FELT WHILE HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD FROM THE FRONTAL AREA OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO OFF CENTER TO THE LEFT AND VEHICLE SEEMS TO PULL LEFT REGARDLESS OF ROAD CROWN AND THE FRONT TWO TIRES ARE FEATHERED ACROSS THE TREAD. THE FIRST VISIT TO DEALER AT 2700 MILES THE DEALER RESET THE TOE AS IT WAS TOE OUT CAUSING UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT ROUGHLY 4700 MILES FOR THE KNOCK/CLUNK/VIBRATION AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AGAIN AND IT WAS FOUND THAT PINCH BOLTS WERE LOOSE ON THE STEERING COLUMN CAUSING THE CLUNK. DEALER STATES THE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR WAS DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE. AFTER PICKING UP VEHICLE...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS HITCHED TO A 2011 FOREST RIVER FLAGSTAFF TRAVEL TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY ACROSS THE ROAD. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY REDUCED THE SPEED AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR AXLES WERE NOT DESIGNED TO ACCOMMODATE THE WEIGHT SPECIFIED ON THE VEHICLE'S GROSS WEIGHT STICKER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE.
