2020 FORD EDGE Power Train Problems

No warning lamps came on but while crossing after stopping at a stop sign the car was jerking and did not want to accelerate almost causing me to get hit by another car. This issue has been present since around 45k miles. I’m currently at 85k on odometer. This was the first time I realized how dangerous this can be. I followed all traffic laws and due to the sluggishness of acceleration due to the jerking I was nearly hit. I went to the dealership and they said it was the torque converter gone bad. The same issue that has been the cause of recall on almost every other model of the same year, the 2020 Ford Edge. When accelerating the car hesitates or has jerking action from 10-30 MPH. When this happens I was almost rear ended a few times due to almost coming to a quick stop jerking action where the car is very slow accelerating from an intersection. I was traveling at about 60 miles per hour when I attempted to accelerate slightly to stay with traffic. It seemed like the car wouldn't change gears, but the engine decreased in power. EGR cooler faulty; the year this vehicle was manufactured in 2019 has an active recall with this same issue; however because my vehicle in the same year; 2019, was manufactured in a different time bracket Ford will not honor said repair. Leaving me with an extended warranty whom will not cover said repair also. $1800(+) out of pocket expense. Any insight on how one is too challenge this?

I purchased my 2020 Ford Edge in Dec 2021 with 8,000 miles at Covert Hutto. Looks like this car was being transferred to dealership after dealership. I feel that Ford should payoff my car and give me another car and take ownership of it being a bad production seed. It was built in Canada during the pandemic. Severe jerking, hesitation and jerking when starting acceleration up to 35/40mph. Already had faulty EGR cooler replaced one month ago. Lost ALL coolant with no overheating signs on dash and coolant leaked into exhaust causing dense white smoke and horrible smell. This happened when only driving 5 houses down from my house.

The torque converter is failing and in one incident failed to provide power when accelerating. This created a safety risk as I was nearly rear ended when merging into a highway and lost the ability to accelerate. The torque converter has deteriorated and now caused the need to replace the transmission as well. I took the vehicle to a FORD dealer and they confirmed the torque converer has failed. They did not further inspect the transmission at that time. I have now taken it to an independant repair center and they inspected the transmission as well and found black transmission fluid due to metal shaving from the torque converter. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. Vehicle jumps and surges forward when shifting in the lower gears.

Just bought this car not even a month ago. Drove less than 80 miles. After doing my actual behind the wheel test w highway patrol in the car (Missouri) I noticed the car shifting and jerking into gear as I'd accelerate from a stopped or parked position. No warning lights displayed at that time. Husband drove it this morning to work and did the same thing and now the wrench light is displayed. Husband was driving us home. Vehicle lost power, car started slowing down. Had to pull over to side of road. Car would restart but continued to die and would not change gears. 3 occurred for several hours. Got car towed to dealer ship. The next day car started ok. This could have caused an accident and could have killed somebody. Car is currently at dealership. Have not been told what is wrong at this time. Only have towing paper work at this time.
