No warning lamps came on but while crossing after stopping at a stop sign the car was jerking and did not want to accelerate almost causing me to get hit by another car. This issue has been present since around 45k miles. I’m currently at 85k on odometer. This was the first time I realized how dangerous this can be. I followed all traffic laws and due to the sluggishness of acceleration due to the jerking I was nearly hit. I went to the dealership and they said it was the torque converter gone bad. The same issue that has been the cause of recall on almost every other model of the same year, the 2020 Ford Edge. This has been ongoing issue for Ford because my mother has a 2016 Ford Escape that was recalled for the torque converter. This is costing me a few thousand dollars to repair...

Vehicle has 950000 miles. Started hesitating and shuddering while changing gears at 50k and has progressively gotten worse. Has been to two dealers with diagnosis of transmission and/or torque converter replacement. Estimates between $4-8.5k to replace/repair. Quick internet search shows that this is a very common and known issue to Ford. Why has there not been a recall on this vehicle for these problems?

When accelerating the car hesitates or has jerking action from 10-30 MPH. When this happens I was almost rear ended a few times due to almost coming to a quick stop jerking action where the car is very slow accelerating from an intersection. I have done some research to find out that there are hundreds with the same issue with Ford Edge cars. This issue is getting more noticeable as the car gets older. Having problems with some dealerships getting the problem resolved or fixed. I was told to fill out your form with this information. Thank you for your time.

I was traveling at about 60 miles per hour when I attempted to accelerate slightly to stay with traffic. It seemed like the car wouldn't change gears, but the engine decreased in power. It did not seem that the vehicle had any "power". The car would not increase in speed. I noticed the "wrench" warning light, which corresponds to the drive train of the car. I was able to coast into the next small town about a half mile from the location where I first noticed the issue. Applying the breaks slowed the vehicle. I placed the vehicle in park. The car would not change out of this gear again. The vehicle's gas pedal did not produce any forward or backward momentum in drive or reverse. The vehicle is at the Ford Dealership for repair/inspection at this time. I can provide repair notes from the dealership. The vehicle could be...

The transmission was slipping, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. The vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the torque converter failed and sent metal particles throughout the transmission. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the diagnostic result was confirmed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. On [XXX] at [XXX] I was driving home from work as I turned on [XXX] road in Jackson CA I felt the vehicle pull and not want to pick up speed to drive up the road like it wanted to stall and only rolled forward a bit. The vehicle then picked back up and I made it to the stop light at the end of the road once I stopped for less than 1 minute the light turned green, I tried to go and the vehicle shut off and began to roll back I had to step on the break and the car behind me reversed so I would not hit him and then the screen flashed a turn vehicle off and restart engine I tried multiple times about 6. Cars had to go around me as I was the first at the light. I finally got the car to...

I purchased my 2020 Ford Edge in Dec 2021 with 8,000 miles at Covert Hutto. Looks like this car was being transferred to dealership after dealership. I feel that Ford should payoff my car and give me another car and take ownership of it being a bad production seed. It was built in Canada during the pandemic. I won’t feel safe because they took my transmission apart and how would I know if or whenever the torque converter is replaced it won’t damage quickly or something else goes wrong before my 60,000 mile’s warranty expires. Powertrain was the component that failed and/or malfunctioned. It’s at Covert Ford and is it available for inspection upon your request. I was in my driveway when the powertrain wrench light appeared on my dashboard. Yes the problem has been confirmed by Covert Ford service department. My vehicle was inspected by the License Transmission specialist...

Severe jerking, hesitation and jerking when starting acceleration up to 35/40mph. Already had faulty EGR cooler replaced one month ago. Lost ALL coolant with no overheating signs on dash and coolant leaked into exhaust causing dense white smoke and horrible smell. This happened when only driving 5 houses down from my house.

The torque converter is failing and in one incident failed to provide power when accelerating. This created a safety risk as I was nearly rear ended when merging into a highway and lost the ability to accelerate. The torque converter has deteriorated and now caused the need to replace the transmission as well. I took the vehicle to a FORD dealer and they confirmed the torque converer has failed. They did not further inspect the transmission at that time. I have now taken it to an independant repair center and they inspected the transmission as well and found black transmission fluid due to metal shaving from the torque converter. This vehicle is 400 miles out of warranty and purchased as a certified pre owned from a ford dealer May 2023. Our mechanic has mentioned that this is a known issue for this vehicle. Up until this incedent there was no...

I just had my car looked at by two different mechanics about rear differential. They told me those last the life of the car. So, they told me to look up recalls because that could be the issue. I only have 64000 miles on the car.

I have a 2020 Ford Edge SEL and out of nowhere on 09-08-2023 smoke was pouring out of the exhaust and the car was misfiring. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. I sat in the car at a drive through for a couple minutes and it was unbearable to breathe. The car is stalling out while accelerating and could be very dangerous depending on where it stalls.

Powertrain went out in 4 lane hallway, transmission and drive shaft. There was a power train light that went on a few days before. I made appt with Ford and had to be towed there for my appointment, was unable to make it there. the people at ford told me that they have had to fix this same thing on multiple/many vehicles. But mine was under recall. Why? 2fmpk3j95lba74164

Purchased 5-25-23 from Chevy dealer with 70,000 miles on odometer. When putting car in drive to about 35 mph the car jerks then it seems to run smoother at higher speeds. Is it some sort of adaptive transmission issue or could it be something else? How do I find out without spending an arm and a leg after putting a great investment in purchasing this vehicle already? Any advice?

Just bought this car not even a month ago. Drove less than 80 miles. After doing my actual behind the wheel test w highway patrol in the car (Missouri) I noticed the car shifting and jerking into gear as I'd accelerate from a stopped or parked position. No warning lights displayed at that time. Husband drove it this morning to work and did the same thing and now the wrench light is displayed. Being towed to the dealership on Monday since everything I've read says do not continue to drive.

Husband was driving us home. Vehicle lost power, car started slowing down. Had to pull over to side of road. Car would restart but continued to die and would not change gears. 3 occurred for several hours. Got car towed to dealer ship. The next day car started ok. This could have caused an accident and could have killed somebody. Car is currently at dealership. Have not been told what is wrong at this time. Only have towing paper work at this time. Just received a call they says it’s the fuel pump.

Vehicle transmission bucks, jerks, and shutters when accelerating from 0-35 mph. This issue does not allow adequate acceleration when taking off from stop. Dealership conducted an adaptive transmission learning software reset for $224.00. Issue has not been inspected by any other entity. There were no warning signs or lamps illuminated during this issue.
