WHILE DRIVING #2 CYLINDER MISFIRE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE RUNS ROUGH. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AND DIAGNOSIS WAS COOLANT LEAK INTO #2 CYLINDER. DETERMINED ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING WHILE THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR.
AT ROUGHLY 77,500 MILES OUR ENGINE STARTING MISFIRING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE PULLED CODE P0305, INDICATING CYLINDER #2 MISFIRE. WE REPLACED THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO MISFIRE. WE THEN BEGAN HEARING FLUID MOVING BEHIND OUR DASH BOARD AND NOTICED THAT THE COOLANT TANK WAS LOW BUT NO VISIBLE COOLANT LEAK WAS FOUND. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER'S SERVICE CENTER (WOODHOUSE FORD - OMAHA, NE) FOR INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSIS. THEY CONFIRMED THAT ENGINE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #2, CAUSING THE MISFIRE. IT WAS ALSO LEAKING INTO THE HEATING ELEMENT, CAUSING A PUTRID SMELL IN THE CAB OF THE VEHICLE AND THE RUSHING FLUID SOUND BEHIND THE DASHBOARD. THEY CONFIRMED THIS IS RELATED TO FORD TSB 19-2346. FORD STATED THAT THE REPAIR REQUIRES A $6300 REPLACEMENT ENGINE AND THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR...
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 3/11/2019 IN WAS IN A TSP STATUS WITH FORD THAT TURNED INTO A RECALL. THE RECALL HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED TO THIS DATE AND HAS BEEN INTO THE SERVICE CENTER 10 TIMES. IT IS CURRENTLY THERE AGAIN. FORD HAS MADE ALL OF THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, A DANGEROUS ISSUE PERSISTS WITH THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND FORDS MASTER MECHANICS HAVE NOT SOLVED THE ISSUES. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT PRESENTS A VERY CLEAR HAZARD FOR THE OCCUPANTS AS WELL AS THE PUBLIC. THE ENGINE LOOSES COOLANT RAPIDLY WITH FORD NOT BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN THE COOLANT GOES. THE ENGINE SEIZES AND CAUSES YOU TO HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP.
MY VEHICLE HAS A CRACKED FLYWHEEL WHICH IS UNDER RECALL ON MOST 2017 EDGE VEHICLES. HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL SO I AM NOW PAYING OUT OF POCKET FOR IT TO BE FIXED.
I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS DRIVING AROUND TOWN ONE DAY WHEN I NOTICED MY AUTO ENGINE START/STOP FEATURE IN MY 2017 FORD EDGE STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY SAID IT WAS A MISFIRE IN THE ENGINE. A WEEK LATER, A YELLOW LIGHT WITH THE PICTURE OF AN ENGINE APPEARS ON MY DASH. I TOOK MY CAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. IT CAME BACK WITH THE CODE P0304. I TAKE MY CAR TO FORD AND THEY SUGGEST REPLACING THE LONG BLOCK. THEY QUOTE ME $6,800. I NOTICED THAT MY HEAT IN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING ON THE WAY HOME. I CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT WAS REALLY LOW. I PUT COOLANT IN MY RESERVOIR AND IT WORKS AGAIN. BUT, I HAVE TO KEEP FILLING THE RESERVOIR WITH COOLANT EVERY OTHER DAY, WHICH GETS EXPENSIVE. I TELL THE SERVICE GUYS, AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE COOLANT...
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2019 WITH 43K MILES, STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IN NOVEMBER 2020 I NOTICED THE VEHICLE MISFIRING DURING STARTUP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HAVING MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSIS, IT IS THE ISSUE OF COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER #4 AND THE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACED. IT NOW HAS 70K MILES SO IT IS OUT OF POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENDED ISSUE AS REPORTED BY FORD INNITIALLY IN THEIR TSB 19-2172. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSES SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE AND SHOULD BE RECALL UNDER EVERY REASONABLE CIRCUMSTANCE.
HAPPENS EVERY TIME I BRAKE. HITTING THE BRAKE TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AS I COME TO A STOP. IN ADDITION TO VIOLENT ENGINE SHAKING THE CAR IS THRUSTING FORWARD. I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT HARDER ON THE BRAKE NOT TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I WILL HAVE TO THROW IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP THE SHAKING. IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE REVS. WHEN TRAFFIC BEGINS TO MOVE I HAVE TO PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE AND HIT THE GAS BUT THEN IT LAGS SEVERELY. IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE FOR MULTIPLE SECONDS BEFORE IT FINALLY TAKES OFF. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO. IF YOU ARE IN PARK AND HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOO LONG BEFORE PUTTING IN A GEAR IT STALLS OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND OPENED A CASE WITH FORD CORPORATION WHO BOTH DEEMED THE VEHICLE...
THE FLEX PLATE WAS A PROBLEM THAT THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WAS AWARE OF DEFECTIVE WELDED STUDS FROM THE FACTORY. NOW I AM OUT OF POCKET FOR MORE THAN 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THEIR DEFECT.
DRIVE SHAFT VEHICLE PULL BACK ON ACCELERATION
WHEN TURNING THE CAR ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR IDLED ROUGH AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC AND THE CODE WAS FOR A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. MECHANIC CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND CLEARED THE CODE. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AND THAT THE LONG BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES. WITH THIS PROBLEM, THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE ACCELERATION DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT AND THE CAR SHAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO LOOK AT THE SITUATION AND DO THE RIGHT THING. THE FORD EDGE IS NOT A SAFE VEHICLE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS CLEARLY A DEFECT IN DESIGN.
2017 EDGE CODES CAME ON FOR TORQUE CONVERTER NOT LOCKING UP TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ( GREEN FORD OF GAINESVILLE GA. ) WAS INFORMED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND FRON PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS 69,000 MILES ON IT THEY WOULD NOT HELP US WITH THE FACTORY. SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. WE CALLED FORD DIRECTLY AND COULD NOT GET ANYONE TO HELP US. $3020.00 FOR REPAIRS, THEY WILL NOT HELP IN ANY WAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT WILL BE THE LAST VEHICLE WE WILL EVER BUY FROM FORD. THIS IS A SAD WAY TO TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER ON A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. IF YOU ARE OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SPENT 500 DOLLARS TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COIL REPLACED. THEN NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER CHECK ENGINE IS ON AGAIN SAME ISSUE AGAIN. APPARENTLY BREAK FLUID IS LEAKING DUE TO A RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK FOR WHAT WAS FIXED DUE TO IT BEING THERE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE ENGINE REVVED UP HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER EPIC FORD (5200 EVERGREEN WAY, EVERETT, WA 98203, 425) 353-7171) TO NOTIFY THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V427000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.
MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF. READING CYLINDER 2 MISFIRING. REPLACE PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS RECEIVED SAME ERROR. ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGHER AND WHITE SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM EXHAUST. VEHICLE OVERHEATED IN THE MIDDLE IF THE FREEWAY WITH MY CHILDREN INSIDE. I FILLED THE COOLANT AND NEXT DAY IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. COOLANT LEAKING INTO CYLINDER 2. ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. HAPPENED BEFORE 60,000 MILES BUT BECAUSE I TOOK IT AFTER 60,000 MILES WARRANTY WAS OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCLARTY DANIEL FORD LINCOLN (2609 S WALTON BLVD, BENTONVILLE, AR 72712) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE ENGINE ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.

SHEEHY FORD OF MIDLTOHIAN, VA HAS INFORMED ME THAT TORQUE CONVERTER WELDS ARE FAILING, CONSISTENT WITH THE RECALL ON OTHER 2017 FORD EDGE MODELS: HOMERECALLSSAFETY RECALL 17S16 ' TORQUE CONVERTER STUD WELDS ' 2017 LINCOLN MKZ, FORD EDGE & FUSION RECALLSSAFETY RECALL 17S16 ' TORQUE CONVERTE TORQUE CONVERTER CONNECTION MAY FAIL IF THE TORQUE CONVERTER WELD STUDS FAIL, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WILL NOT BE CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE FLEXPLATE AND THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO MOVE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN 2017-2018 FORD EDGE AND 2017 LINCOLN MKZ VEHICLES. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. A WRENCH ALSO CAME ON. HAD IT PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE WITH A READ OUT OF "TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF." MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILES ON IT.
OUR 2017 FORD EDGE EXPERIENCED CATASTROPHIC TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE DRIVING - WITH ABSOLUTELY NO ADVANCE WARNING. THE TORQUE CONVERTER FELL APART AND THE VEHICLE WENT FROM DRIVING AT SPEED TO LOSING ALL MOMENTUM. IF WE HAD BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. FORD HAS IDENTIFIED THIS ISSUE WITH 2017 FORD EDGE VEHICLES. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2017 FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR VEHICLES BUILT DURING THE TIME PERIOD THAT OURS WAS BUILT, BUT ACCORDING TO FORD, OURS WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THAT RECALL (NHSTA ID #18V390000). IN 2018, FORD ADDED A RECALL ON 25 ADDITIONAL VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY FOUND THAT MORE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS HAD BEEN INSTALLED THAN INITIALLY THOUGHT (NHSTA ID#17V427000). OURS WAS ALSO NOT ONE OF THOSE IDENTIFIED. OUR VEHICLE HAD 67,032 MILES WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED IN EXACTLY THE FASHION DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. AT LESS THAN 40,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED MAKING A VERY LOAD RATTLING NOISE WHEN IDLING. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. 5 DAYS LATER THEY SAID IT WAS A CRACKED FLYWHEEL CAUSED BY AN ISSUE WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER.
THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE AND WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS. SOLENOID, COMPUTER, TORQUE CONVERTER. STILL NOT BACK. HAS A RATTLING SOUND IN THE DASH

WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. THE CONTACT CALLED CROSSROADS FORD OF CARY AT 919-335-4612 (LOCATED AT 2333 WALNUT ST, CARY, NC 27518) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
