The contact owns a 2012 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, or while the vehicle was parked, the contact observed an abnormal gasoline odor in the vehicle. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power while attempting to accelerate, with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, a "Turbo Boost" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a fuel leak. The contact was informed that either the fuel tank or fuel lines needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,260.

Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power and stalled while in traffic. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and exited the highway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fuel line pulse damper metal housing was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel line needed to be replaced with one that did not have a damper. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and depressing with the accelerator pedal being depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as designed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to exit the highway and continued driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that both front axles, the exhaust pipe, and the fuel injector needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was a leak in the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). The vehicle was repaired, except for the evaporative emission control system (EVAP). The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, SHE SMELLED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR. THE DRIVER STATED THAT FUEL SPEWED THREW THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE, CUT THE FUEL LINE, ATTACHED ANOTHER RUBBER FUEL LINE ONTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION FORD (20777 KATY FWY, KATY, TX 77450, (281) 305-8949), BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND A WRENCH POPS UP ON THE DASH. LAT TIME IT HAPPEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN AN INTERSECTION . THAN 2 MORE TIMES IN A 4 MILE DRIVE . WE HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE AND HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO AND THAT WORKED TILL NOW. MY WIFE IS TO SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND I CANT SAY I BLAME HER . *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AFTER TURNING ONTO A STATE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT TOOK 1-2 MINUTES TO ACCELERATE TO 30 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACH SPEEDS ABOVE 30 MPH. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC GOING 60-70 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED UNTIL THE CONDITION REAPPEARED IN AUGUST OF 2014. THE CONDITIONS WERE SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES AS THE FIRST FAILURE. AS I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET TO 30-35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACH SPEEDS ABOVE 30-35 MPH AND SEVERAL CARS HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE OTHER LANES TO AVOID MY VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ONCE AGAIN THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. WITH THIS BEING THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE SAME PART IN A 30 MONTH...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A PERSISTENT GASOLINE FUEL ODOR AND THE FUEL MILEAGE WAS REDUCED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V002000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BUT THE REMEDY DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
AFTER ONE AND A HALF MONTHS OF DRIVING MY NEWLY PURCHASED 2012 FORD EDGE SEL, THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND I LITERALLY HAD TO STRAIN MY FOOT AND LEGS TO THE PULP AND GIVE IT ALL THE PRESSURE I COULD TO GET IT TO STOP AND TO AVOID HITTING SOMETHING OR RUNNING INTO SOMEONE. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE AND STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD DRIVING AND ESPECIALLY SINCE THE CAR HAD BEEN JUST PURCHASED LESS THAN TWO MONTHS WHEN THIS STARTED HAPPENING. WHAT A NIGHTMARE IT WAS!!!!! THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE FORD PLACE BEING REPAIRED AND HAS BEEN THERE SINCE FRIDAY, JULY 11, 2014. THEY HAD TO ORDER A POWER BOOSTER AND REPLACE THAT AND WHATEVER ELSE THAT WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THE BRAKES WORK PROPERLY. THERE IS A LOT THEY ARE NOT SHARING WITH ME AND AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS CONCERNING THIS VERY SAME...
ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON I NOTICED A FUEL SMELL IN MY CAR AS I DROVE IT TO THE STORE. THE SMELL OF GAS WAS ESPECIALLY STRONG WHEN I HAD THE HEATER ON. UPON ARRIVING HOME I OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED A MIST COMING FROM BEHIND THE ENGINE NEAR THE PLACEMENT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY IDENTIFIED IT AS A CRACKED FUEL LINE DAMPER. FUEL WAS LEAKING ON TO THE ENGINE AND INTO THE CABIN. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND NOTICED THAT THE 2012 EDGE HAD BEEN RECALLED PREVIOUSLY FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE SERVICE TEAM MEMBER, THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT MY EDGE WAS MANUFACTURED AFTER THE DATES COVERED BY THE RECALL. THE REPAIR COST $700 BECAUSE I WAS A FEW THOUSAND MILES BEYOND THE 36,000 WARRANTY. *TR
MADE 4 MILE TRIP FROM HOME TO CHURCH ON CHRISTMAS EVE 2013 AND UPON ARRIVAL AT CHURCH THERE WAS A PROFOUND SMELL OF GASOLINE AROUND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH ALSO PERMEATED THE PASSENGER CABIN. CONTACTED THE DEALER THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS TO ALERT THEN OF THE INCIDENT. THE RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY HAD PERFORMED AN INSPECTION ON 05 FEB 2013 AND FOUND NO PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NO OUTSTANDING RECALL. FUEL LEAK 2012 FORD EDGE, ECO BOOST WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 FORD EDGE ECO BOOST HOME FROM WORK ON CA101 I NOTICED A FUEL SMALL IN THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. BY THE TIME I ARRIVED HOME (15 MILES LATER) THE FUEL SMELL WAS OVERWHELMING. ONCE I PARKED THE VEHICLE I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE I NOTICE A TRAIL OF FUEL BEHIND THE VEHICLE AND COULD HEAR "LIQUID" DRAINING FROM THE ENGINE SECTION. A LARGE POOL OF FUEL FORMED ON THE GROUND UNDER THE ENGINE SECTION. IN TOTAL AT LEAST ~4-6 GALLONS OF FUEL LEAKED ON THE ROAD AND MY DRIVE WAY. I NOTIFIED MY FORD DEALERSHIP, SANTA MARIA FORD (888)-440-7149, OF THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE (VIN:[XXX]). AS OF 8:45 AM PST, 10 OCT 13 THE CAR WAS BEING TOWED TO SANTA MARIA FORD FOR AN INSPECTION....
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WE NOTICED A GAS SMELL COMING THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONER. WHEN WE STOPPED ON AN OFF RAMP, SMOKE STARTED TO COME THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND EVACUATED. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE IS A RECALL ON FILE THAT AFFECTS THE FUEL LINES BUT IT SAYS FORD CLAIMS THAT OUR VIN ISN'T INCLUDED IN THAT BATCH. *TR
MY 14 MONTH OLD, 2012 FORD EDGE, HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES, SOME VERY SERIOUS! FROM THE BEGINNING, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AND CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE. THEY HAVE HAD TO "UPDATE" MY SYNC SYSTEM MORE THAN ONCE. I FREQUENTLY GET A "NO KEY DETECTED" MESSAGE WHEN DRIVING. (PUSH START SYSTEM) THE FIRST TIME THAT HAPPENED I PULLED OFF THE ROAD THINKING IT WOULD STOP RUNNING, AND DID $1400.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE CAR. (COVERAGE WAS DENIED BY THE WHEEL AND TIRE PROTECTION PLAN.) LATER WAS TOLD THE CAR WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED EVEN IF IT DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THAT THE KEY FOB WAS IN IT. (A CAR-JACKERS DREAM!) I HAD A HOLE IN MY BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING ME TO NOT HAVE THE BENEFIT OF POWER BRAKES. FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES AND WASN'T STOPPING. I HAD THE REALLY PUSH ON THEM...
FORD HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHICH THEY REFER IT TO "CHECK ENGINE SOON" THAT COMES ON. THERE IS A DEFECT WITH FORD'S CAPLESS FUEL TANK. SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO LIGHT UP NON-STOP! I AM CONCERNED THAT DOWN THE LINE, THERE WILL BE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CAPLESS SYSTEMS. IT DOES NOT APPEAR DURABLE AND WILL COST HUNDREDS OUT OF THE POCKET OF OWNERS WHOSE WARRANTY WILL EXPIRE AFTER 2-3 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!
