Constant gas smell . Was told there is a fuel tank leak. Also check engine light came on and the codes that came up is for supercharger/ turbo boost.
At a speed of about 60 mph I engaged the cruise control. About 10 seconds later car went into limp mode. Had to acceleration. Was able to pull off to side of road and then vehicle stalled. Put car in park waiting a few seconds and was able to start car again and continue driving with no further problems. This same problem occurred about a month earlier. That event was the same except it happened just after backing out of the driveway and starting up the road at a speed of about 5mph. Was able to restart and continue trip without any problems. Researched the problem and read comments from other people stating the same problem. Never happened before these two incidents
Had diagnosis test done and did process of elimination. Said needed ignition coils/ spark plugs did all that plus fuel injector and oxygen sensor put in bran new and check engine still blinking and car stutters. Only 10miles per gallon on car. You can smell fumes inside car severally. Looked on website and said this car had recall on fuel system/ gasoline. So am I able to take in to manufacture and they fix free cuz of seriously dangerous defect. Car could egnite.
DRIVING ON US HIGHWAY 27, 65 MPH AT NIGHT. CAR JUST STOPPED DEAD ON THE ROAD, NO WARNING, PLENTY OF GAS. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALER WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. THERE IS A PARTIAL RECALL ON THESE MODEL FORD EDGE'S. WHERE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ARE DEFECTIVE AND CAUSE THE BRAKES TO FILL WITH AIR AND LOSE PARTIAL AND SOMETIMES TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. THIS HAPPENED TO MY 2012 FORD EDGE SPORT. I BOUGHT NEW FACTORY PARTS AND HAD THEM INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL. THEY WENT OUT AGAIN. IT HAD TO DO WITH HE FACTORY OF THE PARTS. PLEASE PLACE A MASS RECALL ON THIS PART. MY WIFE AND KIDS SHOULDN'T GET INTO A WRECK DUE TO BRAKES GOING OUT AGAIN. THEY ALREADY HAVE TOTALLY GONE OUT TWICE. TAKATA RECALL I PURCHASED MY 2012 FORD EDGE SEL APRIL 22, 2019. TODAY, MAY 31ST 2019 ON MY WAY HORNE FROM WORK THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING AND POWER. I HAD JUST PASSED A SEMI-TRUCK ON A SMALL FARM TOWN BLACK TOP ROAD AND CAME UP ON A STOP SIGN. IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING TO THE LEFT FROM THE STOP THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT OUT OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE I HAD TO FIND AN ALTERNATE WAY HOME. *WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE DID RUN HOWEVER IT SOUNDED AS IT WAS "STARVED" OR "MIS-FIRING", THERE WAS HEAVY WHITE SMOKE DISPERSING FROM THE EXHAUST AND WHEN I WOULD ATTEMPT TO PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WOULD DIE. THE OIL LEVEL IS FINE, THE ANTIFREEZE IS FINE, IT IS NOT OVERHEATING AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS OR SYMPTOMS OF AN...
WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED, THE ODOR OF GASOLINE IS VERY STRONG INSIDE THE VEHICLE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THE CAR MUST BE VENTED TO BE ABLE TO BREATHE. CAUSING HEADACHES AND FEAR OF ANY IGNITION OF THE FUMES. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST FOUR TIMES I HAVE FILLED MY TANK. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE FOR OTHER 2012 EDGE'S BUT MINE IS NOT LISTED AND IT SHOULD BE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I COULD BE KILLED.
CHECK FUEL FILL INLET MESSAGE KEEP POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD, AND MY CAR PUTTERS WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT'S SO BAD I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE ON HIGHWAYS.
I WAS HAVING AN ENGINE LIGHT COME ON INTERMITTENTLY SOMETIMES EVEN JUST AFTER MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN FOR WARRANTY WORK. IT WOULD SOMETIMES EVEN MAKE A STALLING ENGINE SOUND WHEN I FILLED THE TANK WITH GAS. WITH THE LIGHT ON ONE OF THESE OCCASIONS I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND WAS TOLD THAT TWO OF THE 02 SENSORS WERE BAD. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE I'M TO FIND OUT THAT A CANNISTER PURGE VALVE HAD GONE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A WEEK LATER I GET A RECALL ON MY 2ND VEHICLE, A FORD FOCUS 2014 FOR THE CPV.
ISSUES WITH FUEL NECK FILLER. CODE P0456. AFTER FILLING UP UNLEADED GAS IN THE CAPLESS GAS TANK, THE VEHICLE STALLS UPON STARTING IGNITION. THIS IS NOW A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. AIR MAY BE FILLING UP IN THE GAS TANK. IN 2014, 2012-13 FORD EDGES WERE RECALLED FOR FUEL LEAKS. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THAT RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME YEARS.

I STARTED MY 2012 EDGE AND HEARD THE STARTER TAKE LONGER TO TURN OVER AND START THE CAR. WITHIN MOMENTS THE CHECK ENGINE ICON APPEARED. I TOOK MY EDGE IN TO AUTO HOBBY SHOP LOCATED ON A MILITARY INSTALLATION. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE USED HIS CODE READER MACHINE TO VIEW CODE P0456. WHICH HE SAID IT INDICATED A MINOR FUEL LEAK. HE PERFORMED A SMOKE CHECK SAID HE NOTICED SMOKE LEAKING. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO CHECK IF THERE WERE ANY FUEL SYSTEM RECALLS. THEY SAID THERE WAS, BUT NOT FOR MY VIN. OF THE 3 RECALLS OUT FOR A 20012 EDGE, I ONLY RECIEVED ONE. ARE RECALLS ONLY FOR SPECIFIC YEARS/MODELS/VIN'S? HOW CAN I GET MY ISSUE REPAIRED? COULD MY VIN BE ADDED TO THE RECALL IF I HAD A RELATING ISSUE?
I HAVE THIS CAR IN THE SHOP FOR PTU X2, THE SENSORS IN THE CAR WENT OUT CAUSING THE SHIFTER AND LIGHTS AND DOORS NOT TO WORK THE BREAKS WENT OUT AND NOW THE CYCLIC CONVERTER IS GOING OUT AND THERE IS A GAS LICK SOMEWHERE IN THE CAR OR A VIPER LICK SOMEWHERE AND ALL OF THIS STARTED 3000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY AND IT HAS BEEN IN SHOP A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS
ENGINE CAME ON AND VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN OR STALLS WHEN DRIVING. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM WAS THROTTLE BODY #AT4Z-9E926-B AND REPLACED IT AT A COST OF $333.23. DEALER AND GEORGINA AT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED NO WARRANTY OR "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" COVERAGE FOR COST. PROBLEM IS SAME AS FORD ESCAPE COVERED IN PROGRAM.
SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENT POST TO FORD. OUR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ONGOING FOR A FEW MONTHS....ONE REPAIR AFTER ANOTHER. I HAVE NOTED THE DATE OF THE "UNABLE TO TURN OFF LIGHTS"ISSUE BUT HAVE DOCUMENTATION FOR ALL REPAIRS THIS YEAR.

FUEL SYSTEM STOPS WORKING (THROTTLE BODY). CAR LOOSES POWER, PRESSING GAS PEDAL DOES NOTHING. MUST GET OFF ROAD VERY QUICKLY WHILE DRIFTING. VERY UNSAFE.
TODAY OUR 2012 EDGE LOST ALL POWER AS WE ACCELERATED FROM A STOP SIGN ONTO A MAIN ROAD FEEDING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 25 MILES /HOUR SO WE WEREN'T ACCELERATING QUICKLY. WE HADN'T EVEN COMPLETED THE TURN WHEN ALL POWER WAS LOST AND WE COASTED TO A STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAVING HEARD OF OTHER FAILINGS LIKE THIS WE SHUT OFF THE CAR AND AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR RAN THE REST OF PLANNED TRIP AROUND TOWN WITH NO FURTHER TROUBLES. IF WE HAD BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH LIMITED SAFE AREAS TO PULL OVER, OR IN THE FAST LANE ON THE FREEWAY WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN SERIOUS TROUBLE.
DRIVING DOWN BUSY STREET I WENT AROUND A BEND AND MY EDGE LOST POWER. EVERYTHING SHOT DOWN AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON. SEVERAL VEHICLES ALMOST HIT ME AS THEY WERE COMING AROUND THE BEND AND I HAD NO POWER TO MOVE. I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO START MY CAR. WE WERE ON VACATION AND STOPPED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND SAID IT WAS FINE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY ARE 75% SURE IT IS WAS A THROTTLE BODY. OVER $400 LATER I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. I MADE A TURN THE OTHER DAY AND IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS LOSING POWER BUT IT DID NOT STALL. IT WAS SLUGGISH FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE THEN IT WAS OK. I...
STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH BRAKING HARD PEDAL AT AROUND 63000 MILES. AT THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR WHILE VEHICLE IS IN PARK MODE.

AS A RESULT, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. FUEL NOZZLE INLET SET A MIL LIGHT CODE FOR FUEL VAPOR SEEPAGE. THIS IS THE CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM. THIS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE. ANY TYPE OF IGNITION SOURCE GOES NEAR THE FUEL DOOR WILL IGNITE THE VEHICLE INTO FLAMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET, VEHICLE GOING UP A HILL THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THE ENGINE DIED (ZERO RPM INDICATED.) A FEW SECONDS LATER, THE "LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE" WARNING WAS DISPLAYED. LOSS OF POWER STEERING/BRAKES. VEHICLE WAS CAREFULLY MANEUVERED OFF THE HIGHWAY. ATTEMPTED TO RESTART REPEATEDLY. ENGINE WOULD ONLY RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN DIED. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER. NO ENGINE TROUBLE CODES DETECTED. AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT, VEHICLE STARTED AND RAN WITHOUT ISSUE. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD WHEN A VEHICLE STALLS AT HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

GAS THROTTLE QUIT WORKING. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKED. ENGINE WOULD NOR REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED. SEE MANUAL LIGHT APPEARED WITH A WRENCH SYMBOL ON DASH. COASTED INTO PARKING LOT AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED. EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON COMPUTER SCAN AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE THROTTLE BODY,BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM. I KNOW FORD JUST RECALLED SEVERAL CARS THIS YEAR FOR EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AND ARE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODIES. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING ON OTHER EDGE MODELS. *TR

CAR LOSES ALL POWER WITHOUT WARNING. LOSS OF POWER STEERING, VERY TIGHT BRAKES, NO ACCELERATION POSSIBLE AND A LOW OIL WARNING.
