A MESSAGE WARNING "SHIFT TO PARK" APPEARS ON THE CAR DASHBOARD WHEN THE CAR HAS ALREADY BEEN PUT INTO PARK POSITION. THIS WARNING MESSAGE DISALLOWS THE DRIVER TO TURN THE CAR OFF - SHUT OF THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS ALREADY IN PARK AND MESSAGE LIGHT CONTINUES TO BE ON DISPLAY ON DASHBOARD. *TR
WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED THE DOOR ALARM STILL GOES OFF AND SHOWS DOOR OPEN ON SCREEN. AFTER OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES, IT SOMETIMES GOES OFF AND SOMETIMES STAYS ON. VERY ANNOYING. FORD SHOULD FIX. HAVE HAD TO DRIVE DOWN ROAD WITH ALARM GOING OFF EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED AND LOCKED. *TR
ONE DAY WHILE PREPARING TO DRIVE THE KIDS TO SCHOOL, I ENTERED THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND SHUT THE DOOR. I STARTED THE ENGINE VIA THE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION AND THE DASH GAVE AN AUDIBLE ALARM AND LIGHT FOR MY DRIVER DOOR BEING AJAR. I OPENED MY DOOR AND FIRMLY CLOSED IT. THE LIGHT REMAINED SHOWING MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AS BEING AJAR. SINCE THEN THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE. THE PROXIMITY UNLOCK FEATURE OF MY VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK ON THIS SIDE NOW EITHER, I ASSUME DUE TO IT NOT REGISTERING THE DOOR AS CLOSED. THIS FEATURE WORKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE I DO NOT HAVE THIS DOOR AJAR ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE AUTO-LOCK FEATURE DOES NOT WORK EITHER DUE TO IT REGISTERING THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AJAR. *TR
DRIVERS DOOR AJAR ALERT WILL NOT TURN OFF. COMPUTER SAYS TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT DOOR. THIS DOES NOT RESOLVE THE DOOR AJAR ERROR. *TR A SECOND PROBLEM IS NOW OCCURRING; THE BACK UP CAMERA MESSAGE IS ASKING IF YOU WANT IT ON. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD MINE ON, SO WHY IS IT CONTINUALLY ASKING. A THIRD PECULIAR BEHAVIOR I'M NOTICING IS THAT WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, IF YOU HAD THE RADIO ON, IT NORMALLY STAYS ON UNTIL YOU OPEN THE DOOR, NOW, THE RADIO SHUTS OFF IMMEDIATELY AS DO THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENTS.
PROBLEM: DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING COMES ON EVEN IF DOOR IS SHUT. I DROVE IT LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS WHEN BOTH HIGH BEAMS AND REGULAR BEAM HEADLIGHTS BURNED OUT SIMULTANEOUSLY AT NIGHT. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH FLASHERS UNTIL A GAS STATION TO CALL MY WIFE AND COME GET ME. I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR AND THEY SAID THERE MIGHT BE A SHORT DUE TO DOOR LATCH PROBLEM, SO THEY SUGGESTED I REPLACE BATTERY AND HEADLIGHTS FOR $400+. BY THE WAY, THE DEALER SAID HE OILED THE DOOR LATCH AND IT WAS FIXED. IT WAS NOT FIXED. THE DOOR AJAR WARNING STILL COMES ON AS I DRIVE. WHAT IS BAD IS WHEN I PARK IN A PUBLIC LOT, THE CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF INTERIOR LIGHTS AS THE CAR THINKS DOOR IS AJAR. IN ADDITION, I CAN NOT LOCK THE CAR WITH THE FOB SO I NEED...
DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR DRIVER'S DOOR KEEPS GOING ON AND WE ARE UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOORS (AND THE DOOR IS LATCHED). IT IS A DISTRACTION TO HAVE THE WARNING LIGHT GO ON INDICATING YOU SHOULD PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. WHEN MINOR CHILDREN ARE PASSENGERS THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS SINCE A LARGE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE ARE BEING FILED. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR LIGHT/WARNING APPEARS EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FULLY CLOSED. THIS PREVENTS ALL DOORS FROM LOCKING. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE WARNING IS NOT ON BUT AFTER A PASSENGER CLOSES THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING TURNS ONS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SERVICED ONCE BY FORD BUT IT IS NOT HAPPENING AGAIN. FORD ISSUES A SERVICE BULLETIN BUT THAT APPEARS TO BE ONLY A STOP GAP MEASURE SINCE THE PROBLEM RECURS. *TR
THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. *TR
THE "DOOR AJAR" SENSOR IS MAKING A FALSE READING THAT CONSTANTLY SAYS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. DUE TO THE CAR "THINKING" THE DOOR IS OPEN, YOU CAN NOT LOCK THE DOORS WHILE DRIVING. A CHILD FALLING OUT OF AN UNLOCKED DOOR OR A CAR JACKING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THIS ISSUE WILL SHOW THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY FORD VEHICLES. TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPAIRED COST ANYWHERE FROM $250 TO $400 WHICH IS MOST LIKELY WHY FORD CONTINUES TO LET PEOPLE DRIVE THESE UNSAFE VEHICLES. *TR
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS ON LIGHTING UP. WE HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVERS DOOR UP TO 20 TIMES AND SOMETIMES THE WARNING GOES OFF AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. IT IS VERY ANNOYING BECAUSE IF IT DOESN'T TURN OFF THERE IS A BEEPING SOUND GOING ON WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING ASKING YOU TO PULL ASIDE AND CLOSE THE DOOR AGAIN. IT ALSO AFFECTS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT BECAUSE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WONT TURN OFF AND IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE DRIVING, SPECIALLY IF IT'S ON REVERSE, OR WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND PUT THE ALARM ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS KEEP ON AND AM AFRAID IT WILL AFFECT MY BATTERY IN THE LONG RUN. WE TOOK IT TO SERVICE AT THE DEALER BUT THERE IS NO RECALL YET AND IT COSTS AROUND $418 TO FIX. I THINK IT'S A...
THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATES THE DOOR IS OPEN WHEN THE DOOR IS ACTUALLY CLOSED TIGHT. IF YOU SLAM THE DOOR HARD, THE WARNING CLEARS SOMETIMES BUT MAY COME BACK ON WITHOUT THE DOOR BEING OPENED. THIS IS A POOR ALARM SYSTEM DESIGN. FORD SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DESIGN AND ISSUE A RECALL. THE ORIGINAL LATCH WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT ABOUT 30K MILES. *TR
THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BEING AJAR WILL NOT GO OFF. THE DOOR IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT OPEN, YET THE INDICATOR DOES NOT REGISTER THE DOOR AS BEING CLOSED NO MATTER WHAT WE DO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 45MPH, VEHICLE LOST POWER TO THE EXTENT THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER. A MECHANIC WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASH. VEHICLE REMAINED RUNNING BUT IDLE WAS VERY ERRATIC. AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF, I USED A CODE READER AND DTC "P2111" APPEARED ON THE READER (THROTTLE BODY FAILURE). AFTER CLEARING THE CODE, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND ENGINE IDLE APPEARED NORMAL. DROVE VEHICLE FOR 20 MILES WITH NO OTHER ABNORMALITIES. DURING A BRIEF REVIEW OF FORD RECALLS, TSB'S, ETC. I AM FINDING THAT THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ON OTHER MODELS BUT FOR SOME REASON NOT THE EDGE. *TR

THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR. *TR
THE DRIVER DOOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT HAVE TO SLAM DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES. HAD TO GO GET A REPLACEMENT DOOR PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. WHILE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED, THE DOOR AJAR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE CHIME SOUNDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,500.
THIS HAS RECURRED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR STARTED JERKING, WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A COUPLE OF SECONDS, RESTARTED IT AND IT WORKED GREAT. THE TIME BEFORE I WAS GOING ABOUT 55 MPH AND THE CAR DID THE SAME THING. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED IT OFF AND RESTARTED AND IT WORKED GREAT. I'M AFRAID TO TRAVEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT'S THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND WILL COST $400+/- TO FIX. *TR
ALARM AND DASH ICON WARN DRIVER TO SHIFT INTO PARK. I PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHIFT INTO PARK WITH NO PROBLEM APPARENT IN THE SHIFT OR TRANSMISSION. THIS ALARM IS RECURRENT MOSTLY WHEN MOVING ON THE ROADWAY AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN CAR IS STILL. THIS PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE FORD DEALER IS A DEFECTIVE SWITCH IN THE SHIFTER LEVER ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A $325 REPAIR AND TOO COMPLEX TO COMPLETE MYSELF. THIS ISSUE IS DISTRACTING TO SAFE DRIVING REQUIRING FINDING THE OK BUTTON OR PULLING OFF THE ROADWAY TO SHIFT THE LEVER. *TR
AN IRRITATING AND DISTRACTING DANGER SIGNAL AND DISPLAY ICON SHOWS "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" WHEN IN FACT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. EARLY THIS MONTH THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND IS NOW CONSISTENT AND REPETITIVE EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE AUTOMOBILE. FORD DEALER SERVICE SAYS THIS REQUIRES A $200 REPAIR. THIS REPAIR IS TOO COMPLEX FOR ME TO COMPLETE. TO SILENCE THE ALARM ONE MUST LOOK AWAY FROM THE ROADWAY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO FIND THE OK BUTTON. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE SENSOR NOT READING THAT MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS LATCHED. TODAY, IT IS CONSTANT AND WILL NOT EVEN ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS! I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET IT TO "LATCH" AND CLEARLY THE DOOR IS CLOSED, BUT THE "DOOR AJAR" WARNING IS STILL ILLUMINATED. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE POWER LOCKS FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH ON THE DOORS NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2012 FORD EDGE. IN NOV. 2013 A WARNING STARTED SHOWING ON THE DASH EVERY TIME I CLOSE THE DOOR (EITHER DRIVER SIDE DOORS OR PASSENGER SIDE DOORS) THAT SAYS DOOR AJAR. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CLOSE THE DOOR IT STILL SAYS IT. IF I IGNORE IT AND DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD ANOTHER WARNING POPS UP THAT SAYS SHIFT INTO PARK. WHEN THESE WARNINGS ARE ON THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AS WELL. WHICH COULD LEAVE TO A DEAD BATTERY . THESE WARNINGS GOING OFF EVERY FEW MINUTES IS VERY AGGRAVATING AND FOR ME A LITTLE SCARY AS WELL ESPECIALLY WHEN U R DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT SAYS WARNING SHIFT INTO PARK.... I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE HAD AND POSTED ON THE NHTSA SITE. THE DOOR AJAR ISSUE FOLLOWED BY THE SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE. I AM CURIOUS WITH THIS MANY ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LATCH FAILURE, WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL???? VERY ANNOYING TO TRY TO HAVE SOMETHING NICE ONLY FOR IT TO FAIL AT 2 YEARS OLD. BATTERY ALSO WENT DEAD AROUND 47000 MILES AND CRASHED MY GPS. APPROXIMATELY $900 TO FIX THE THREE ISSUES. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 4TH ISSUE WITH THE BACK HATCH NOT CLOSING THE FIRST TIME WE HIT THE BUTTON - THIS HAS BEEN OFF AND ON SINCE DAY 1 AND I'M TOLD YESTERDAY THAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WOULD NEED TO GO TO THE COLLISION CENTER FOR ESTIMATE ON REPAIR. NOT LIKELY. *TR

DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS OVERACTING. INITIALLY A FEW DOOR CLOSINGS RECTIFIED. HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME AND DISALLOWS LOCKING, WARNS TO SHIFT TO PARK OFTEN IN SLOWER TRAFFIC. INTERIOR LIGHTS REMAIN ON FOR MORE THAN 20 MINUTES DRAINING THE BATTERY. NO WAY TO SHUT OFF INTERIOR LIGHTS WITH THIS DOOR AJAR DEFECT EVEN WITH THE CAR OFF AND DOORS FIRMLY CLOSED. *TR
DRIVER DOOR SENSOR LIGHT WILL NOT GO OUT, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS SECURELY CLOSED. LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN DRIVER DOOR SENSOR LIGHT IS ON. MAY BE ISSUE WITH LATCH MECHANISM. POSES SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUES FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGERS BECAUSE ALTHOUGH VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE, LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE.IF SENSOR LIGHT IS ON. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WHICH FORD IS IGNORING. *TR
DOOR AJAR SWITCH WENT BAD ON OUR EDGE,WHICH IS A GOOD VEHICLE.HAD IT REPLACED AND JUST FINE NOW. *TR
THE 2012 FORD EDGE DOOR SENSOR HAS GONE BAD IN MY CAR. NOTHING HAPPENED OR CHANGED, BUT HAVE READ 100'S OF INCIDENTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT STARTS WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR, AND THE DOOR SENSOR LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. YOU OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR 1-2 TIMES AND IT GOES OFF. NO BIG DEAL. OVER TIME, YOU HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE 5-10 TIMES TO GET THE CAR TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE DOOR IS SHUT. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, THE SENSOR WILL COME ON WHILE DRIVING FOR NO REASON. ULTIMATE, WILL NOT GO OFF AT ALL. SOUNDS LIKE IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL UNTIL YOU REALIZE THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE DOOR SENSOR IS ON, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, AND THE ALARM WILL NOT SET. MY DRIVERS DOOR LATCH AJAR SWITCH IS BROKEN AND IT WILL NOT LET ME LOCK THE DOORS AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND EVERY TIME I STOP THE CAR THIS ANNOYING ALARM COMES ON TELLING ME TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND MY DEALERSHIP WILL NOT PAY FOR THE SWITCH TO BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR ALARM WOULD NOT GO OFF. I TRIED TO OPEN AND SHUT THE DOOR, BUT THE ALARM STAYS ON - WHICH MEANS THAT THE LIGHTS INSIDE THE CAR STAY ON DRAINING THE BATTERY. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN MERIDIAN, ID AND THE COST FOR FIXING THIS PROBLEM IS $316.00. AFTER LOOKING AT THE INTERNET FOR SOLUTIONS, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON. PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL AND MAKE THE FORD CORPORATION STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. *TR

WHEN IN DRIVE, AND DOOR CLOSED, DOOR AJAR INDICATOR CONSTANTLY DINGS. WHEN CONTACTING DEALERSHIP, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED ITS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE, YET FORD DOESN'T DEEM IT A SAFETY ISSUE, THEREFORE WON'T RECALL IT. IT IS A DISTRACTION, AND DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE LOCKED WHEN IN DRIVE, CREATING A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO, SINCE THE VEHICLE THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN, WHEN IN PARK AND LOCKED, INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OFF, LEADING TO BATTERY DRAIN. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE, BEFORE IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE IS. OF COURSE THE ISSUE HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER VEHICLE WENT OVER MILEAGE WARRANTY. DOOR LOCK WAS ALREADY REPLACED WITHIN A MONTH OF VEHICLE PURCHASE, AND THE SECOND ONE WENT BAD ALREADY. THOSE ONLY HAVE 1000 MILE WARRANTY ON REPLACEMENT PARTS, FORD IS KNOWINGLY PUTTING DEFECTIVE PARTS IN THE VEHICLES. *TR

WHEN THE EDGE IS STOPPED AND THE DRIVER DOOR IS OPENED AND THEN CLOSED THE DOOR AJAR WARNING REMAINS ON. THIS CAUSES THE INSIDE LIGHT TO REMAIN ON AND THE DOORS TO NOT LOCK. WHEN IN A PARKING LOT AT NIGHT THIS CAUSES A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR 5 OR 6 TIMES BEFORE IT WILL REGISTER THE DOOR IS CLOSED TO ALLOW THE DOORS TO BE LOCKED. THERE WAS ONE OCCASION THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPEN AND CLOSED THEN THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR WARNING CAME ON, I HAD TO FIND A PLACE TO PARK OUT OF TRAFFIC TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. ON ONE OTHER OCCASION I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE DOOR AJAR WARNING CAME ON AND THE INTERIOR LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR UNTIL IT REGISTERED IT WAS CLOSED...
2012 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REAR BRAKE PROBLEMS AND SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLE ISSUES. *SMD THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT SENSOR WAS INOPERATIVE AND THE INSIDE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO OFF. ALSO, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD ELECTRICAL HUMMING NOISE AND WOULD SHUT OFF. THE SOUND WOULD LAST ANYWHERE FROM 10-30 MINUTES, THE RADIO WOULD NOT TURN OFF AND THE REMOTE START WOULD ONLY WORK IN THE AFTERNOON. ALSO,THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. *JB
