2007 FORD EDGE LOOSES POWER. SPEEDOMETER GOES TO 0. EXCLAMATION MARK, AIR BAG AND TOOL LIGHT COMES ON. MOTOR REVS UP TO HIGH RPM. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SENSOR ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. AND IT IS A VERY COMMON HAPPENING WITH THIS VEHICLE. WITH THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THAT IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. THIS HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS WELL AS IN TOWN SPEEDS. VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOWED TO MECHANIC. ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS CODES P0351, P0352, P0354, P0301, P0302, P0316, P0420 BANK CATALYST BELOW THRESHOLD. PERFORMED PIN POINT TEST ON ALL COILS, FUEL SYSTEM, AND RELATIVE COMPRESSION. PERFORMED ALL REPAIRS RELATED TO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 12_8_17. AFTER VERIFYING BURNT COIL AND INTERNAL DRIVER FAULT OF PCM TO COALS! REPLACED ALL IGNITION COILS, ALL SPARK PLUGS, UPPER INTAKE GASKETS AND PCM! USED ALL FORD OE PARTS.REPROGRAMED PCM AND ROAD TEST TO VERIFY ALL REPAIRS. COST $2039.29. VERIFIED CONVERTER DAMAGE RELATED TO IGNITION FAILURE DUMPING RAW FUEL THROUGH BANK 1. REPLACED ORIGINAL CONVERTER, SEAL, GASKET, CLEANED ALL O2 SENSORS. COST $704.94. *TR
I FILED THE ORIGINAL COMPLAINT (10680995) ON FEBRUARY 3RD, BUT I WANTED TO EDIT OR UPDATE IT, BUT COULDN'T FIND THE WAY, SO I AM TAKING THE LIBERTY TO POST A NEW ONE. IT HAS BEEN 2 AND A HALF MONTHS SINCE THE INCIDENT AND AS A DISGRACE IT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE FOR THE FORD DEALER IN CENTRAL AMERICA TO GET THE COMPUTER MODULE PART. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS AMOUNT OF TIME WITHOUT YOUR VEHICLE, SPECIALLY IF IT IS YOUR WORKING TOOL? I HAVE A 2007 FORD EDGE WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE TO DATE. THIS IS USUALLY MY FAMILY CAR, DRIVEN BY MY WIFE. WE LIVE IN GUATEMALA AND DROVE TO A HOUSE ON THE BEACH, THAT IS ABOUT 100 MILES AWAY. ON JANUARY FIRST WHEN WE WERE RETURNING I STARTED THE CAR AND NOTICED A SHAKE AND SPUTTER, AND I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUG. I MANAGED TO DRIVE OUT OF WHERE WE WERE AND AS SOON AS WE GOT TO THE MAIN HIGHWAY I HAD TO STOP AND CALL FOR A TOW. THE SHAKING AND SPUTTERING WERE FRIGHTENING. THE SHOP I TOOK IT TO SAYS THAT AT LEAST 3 IGNITION COILS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND ARE NOT SURE IF THE PCM ALSO HAS TO BE REPLACED. UNFORTUNATELY, SINCE THERE ARE PARTS STOCK PROBLEM HERE, I HAD TO WAIT ALMOST A MONTH TO GET THE PARTS...
MY CAR STARTED TO DRIVE "ROUGH" AND LATER THAT DAY I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED. WHILE THERE WERE NO LIGHT INDICATORS OFF ON THE DASH THEY SAID TO GO AHEAD AND BRING IT IN ON MONDAY TO BE LOOKED AT. SUNDAY NIGHT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT JUST DIED. AGAIN, NO LIGHTS INDICATING SOMETHING WAS WRONG, IT HAD JUST NOT BEEN DRIVING SMOOTHLY. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT DAY WE WERE CONTACTED TO LET US KNOW THAT THE VEHICLE'S PCM HAD SHORTED AND MELTED THE PLUGS, INTAKE VALUES, COILS, BATTERY AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD THIS VEHICLE SERVICED BY THIS DEALER AND HAD ALL OF OUR RECOMMENDED AND / OR REQUIRED SERVICE / MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. WHICH IS WHY IT IS SO VEXING THAT SOMETHING THAT IS NOT A SERVICEABLE ITEM AND HAS NO NOTIFICATION CAN NOT ONLY...
AT A STOP, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE,LOUD CLUNKING SOUND, AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON. WOULD NOT MOVE, HAD TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF CAR FOR A FEW SECONDS, ONLY MOVED A FEW FEET BEFORE IT DID AGAIN. NEXT DAY SAME PROBLEM. *TR
DOME LIGHTS STAYS ON ALL THE TIME DRAINING MY BATTERY. *TR
DROVE TO PANAMA CITY, FL. FOR VACATION AND PARKED IN APT. GARAGE. WENT TO MY BROTHERS APT. AND WITHIN AN HOUR, THE PARKING ATTENDANT KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND SAID THAT OUR CAR HAD THE FOG LAMPS ON. TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF AND COULDN'T. HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE. HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND TO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. FUSE IS STILL REMOVED AND CANNOT USE THE FOG LIGHTS. WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RUN VERY ROUGH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STALLED. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED, RAN VERY ROUGHLY AND HAD ALMOST NO POWER. I WAS IN TOWN SO I DROVE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER PULLED A ERROR CODES INDICATING A FAILED POWER CONTROL MODULE WHICH LED TO THE FAILURE OF THREE OF THE SIX COIL ON PISTONS. THIS IS AN IDENTIFIED PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR WITH A TSB IN PLACE. FORD WAS COVERING THE COST OF FAILURES FOR VEHICLES UNDER 80,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE, WITH 97,000 MILES DID NOT QUALIFY. FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE UNITS. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND COULD LEAD TO ENGINE SHUTDOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT COST $2,097 FOR REPAIR. TO BE FAIR, THE PRICE INCLUDED REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS SINCE THEY WERE COMING...
CAR IS SKIPPING OR JERKING WHEN GOING UP HILLS. HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN CAR IS MOVING UP HILLS. MOST LIKELY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM OR SENSOR PROBLEM. *TR
THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE DOOR IS CLEARLY SHUT, BUT THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT SHOWS ON DASH BOARD ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON. THE MAIN CONCERN IS WHEN THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT / SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING, THE DOOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK. EVEN IF YOU PUSH THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON, THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, BECAUSE CHILDREN CAN OPEN THE DOOR OR A STRANGER CAN HOP IN THE CAR. SUPPOSEDLY THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH A LOT OF FORD'S, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED OR RECALLED. *TR
UPON REPLACING A BURNED OUT TAIL LITE I NOTICED THE SOCKET WHICH HOLDS THE BULB WAS MELTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH SIDES OF TAIL LITES. *TR
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO THEN DASH LIGHTS ALL COME ON. GET OFF HIGHWAY PULL OVER AND CAR DOES NOT MOVE. WAIT ABOUT 20 MINUTES, PUT CAR IN D, HEAR LOUD BANG, CAR LUNGES FORWARD A LITTLE THEN DRIVES NORMALLY. SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON HIGHWAY AT @60MPH WHEN SAME THING HAPPENS, GET OFF HIGHWAY AND STOP AT 2ND RED LIGHT WHEN THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. LET CAR SIT FOR @10 MIN. THEN IT STARTS GOING @10MPH, AFTER ABOUT 1 MILE RESUMES NORMAL OPERATION. HAVE BROUGHT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER AND HAD 2 SENSORS REPLACED ALONG WITH A TRANSMISSION FLUID EXCHANGE BUT NOW TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED AT BUSY BACK ROAD INTERSECTION THEN TRIED TO RESUME SPEED THE VEH. WOULD NOT MOVE. E-MAILED LOCAL FORD DEALER TO LET THEM KNOW THAT ISSUE WAS HAPPENING ONCE AGAIN AFTER SENSORS WERE REPLACED....
BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT SOCKETS HAVE BURNED AND CHARRED. PLASTIC IS MELTED. BULBS BURN OUT REPEATEDLY. FOUND OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND FOUND THE BEST SOLUTION WAS A CERTAIN BULB THAT HAD MORE GLASS AT THE BASE AND IT WAS RATED FOR A HIGHER VOLTAGE. THAT COMPANY HAS NOW DISCONTINUED THAT BULB AS OF JUNE 2014 SO NOW I AM UNSURE IF IT WILL EVENTUALLY CATCH ON FIRE. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THE BULBS BURN OUT A COUPLE OF TIMES A YEAR WITH THE REGULAR STORE BOUGHT BULBS. AGAIN, SOCKET AND END OF BULBS THAT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE SOCKET ARE VERY CHARRED AND MELTED. *JS
TAIL LIGHT PLUGS ON BOTH SIDES WERE BURNED/ MELTED NEEDS REPLACED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD EDGE WITH 3 CHILDREN IN IT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST THE ABILITY TO NOT ONLY ACCELERATE BUT MY SPEED SUDDENLY FELL FROM 45 MILES AN HOUR TO 15 MILES AN HOUR WITHOUT ANY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. MY CAR WAS IN A CONSTANT STATE OF SHAKING AND SPUTTERING AND INCREASED WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THERE WAS SOMETHING SIGNIFICANTLY WRONG AND IT WAS PRETTY SCARY TO EXPERIENCE PARTICULARLY WITH 3 SMALL CHILDREN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE COMPANY WHERE THE CAR'S SOFTWARE SYSTEM DISPLAYED CODES INDICATING TWO IGNITION CODES FAILED. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE SERVICE PROVIDER REPLACED ALL THE SPARK PLUGS AND TWO COILS. THE CAR WAS NOT FIXED AND IT WAS FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THE PCM BOARD IS SENDING EXTREMELY HIGH CURRENT TO THE IGNITION COILS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ENGINE FIRE. THIS IS VERY DISTRESSING. FORD HAS ISSUED...
PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND EXPERIENCED VERY HARSH SHIFTING. THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERED AND SHOOK, ALMOST REFUSING TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. *TR
TAIL LIGHT BLINKERS ARE MELTING INTO THE SOCKETS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BULBS ONCE A YEAR BECAUSE THEY BLOW, I WAS ALSO TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE REASON MY SPEAKER BLEW ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR WAS DO TO EXTRA ELECTRICAL POWER. *TR
AFTER PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE DIDN'T STOP BUT PRESSING GAS DID NOT HELP. WAS FORCED TO COAST TO SIDE, CAR SHUDDERED, THEN STALLED. AFTER WAITING A FEW, CAR STARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT A MILE TO A NEARBY REPAIR SHOP. WE WERE CALLED AND ADVISED IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND DUE TO MILES ON THE CAR, IT SHOULD BE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP (UNDER WARRANTY). FORD SERVICE COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG & TO PICK IT UP. PRIOR TO PICKING UP, WE FOUND A TSB THAT DESCRIBED WHAT WE HAD BUT WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. MAY 2013, CAR DID SAME BUT THIS TIME, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. TOWED (TO ANOTHER FORD SERVICE DEALER),& ISSUE WAS FOUND. REPAIR MADE. NOT SURPRISINGLY, ISSUE WAS SAME TSB WE PULLED IN 2011. 7 MONTHS...
TAILLIGHT SOCKETS AND BULBS SCORCHED AND BURNT TOGETHER. SIGNS OF HIGH HEAT. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT HAS BURNED OUT AND MELTED THE BULB AND THE SOCKET. THIS HAS OCCURRED 4 TIMES IN THE 4 MONTHS WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR. *TR
ELECTRIC RADIATOR COOLING FAN QUIT. CAR OVERHEATED. HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
SECOND TIME A YEAR OR SO LATER ELECTRICAL COOLING RADIATOR FAN GOES OUT. REPLACING AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER HE WAS INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, HE WOULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE IGNITION COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WE STARTED UP OUR CAR ON A SUNDAY MORNING, PUT IT IN REVERSE, BACKED OUT OF OUR SPOT, AND THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. RIGHT AWAY, WE NOTICED THE CAR SHAKING, NOT MUCH POWER, AND IT WAS SPUTTERING ALONG. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING AS WELL, INDICATING ENGINE MISFIRE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. THE FORD DEALERSHIP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND DETERMINED THAT THE PCU HAD OVERHEATED AND THE CYLINDER COILS MELTED. THEY ALSO SAID THE PCU IS NO LONGER OPERABLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ALONG WITH THE COILS AND PLUGS. GENERALLY, ENGINE MISFIRE INDICATES A TUNE-UP IS NEEDED; HOWEVER, IN THIS CASE, THE CAR NEEDS A BRAND-NEW COMPUTER. THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED US AT 2,700 TOTAL FOR THE REPAIR. FURTHERMORE, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CAR, AS DETERMINED BY FORD, AS IT ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 13-4-7, CITING THIS MODEL AND SEVERAL...
FIRST OCCURRENCE. TURNED VEHICLE ON, SHIFTED IN DRIVE TO LEAVE PARKING LOT. DID NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY, AND FELT AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. TURNED VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON. IT SHIFTED FINE. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP, AS WE HAD ONLY OWNED IT S MONTH AND BOUGHT IN APRIL 2012. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. OVER TIME, THIS HAS HAPPENED 10-15 MORE TIMES. THE COMPUTER ALSO SEEMS TO BE AFFECTED BY THIS AS WELL. TODAY 7/26/2013, I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE, LEFT IT START UP, BEGAN TO GO INTO DRIVE, IT STALLED, AND A POWERTRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. MILEAGE COMPUTER DASH DISAPPEARED. I TURNED THE CAR OFF. TURNED IT BACK ON. WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT IT, TRANSMISSION WAS VERY VIOLENT. SAT IN THE PARKING LOT FOR TWENTY MINUTES. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, LET IT RUN FOR 2MINUTES, PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND IT WAS COMPLETELY FINE....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 73 MPH THERE WAS A SLIGHT REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY, HLA ENGINE CONTROL MODULE AND PCM WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,334. ...UPDATED 07-24-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE DONE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT ERRATIC IRREGULAR SHIFTING, ALTHOUGH NOT TO THE EXTENT FOR WHICH HE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN.
REAR BRAKE/TAIL LIGHT SOCKET ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR OF VEHICLE HAVE OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE PLASTIC AROUND LAMP. LAMP WAS BURNT OUT. NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE HIGH HEAT PROBLEM. NO FUSE WAS BLOWN, NEW BULB WORKED IN SOCKET. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY FREEWAY IN MORNING TRAFFIC AND WENT TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES B/C EXIT WAS COMING UP - NOTICED TRUCK JUST DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT. I FLOORED IT AND THE RPM'S SHOT UP TO OVER 4,000 BUT MY SPEED STAYED AT AROUND 70. I TAPPED THE BRAKES AND THE RPMS DROPPED TO RIGHT ABOVE 0 AND MY TRUCK STARTED SLOWING WAY DOWN QUICK AND I TRIED GIVING IT MORE GAS BUT WOULDN'T GO. THEN IT STARTED SHAKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY IN THE 2ND LANE FROM OUTSIDE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY TRUCK TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN IT OFF TO WAIT FOR THE TOW TRUCK. HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT AND HE SAID THE COMPUTER HAS MALFUNCTIONED (POSSIBLY COMPLETELY GONE OUT - WAITING ON HIM TO CHECK IT OUT TODAY) AND CAUSED THE #4 CYLINDER NOT...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE HORN WOULD NOT SOUND WHEN ACTIVATED AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY FIVE OLD SONS TO SCHOOL YESTERDAY MORNING, I START NOTICING THE CAR STOPS CHANGING SPEED AND START SHAKING ALL THE SUDDEN THEN THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT START BLINKING. I HAVE SLOWED DOWN AND KEEP DRIVING MY SOON TO SCHOOL BUT IT WAS BAD EXPERIENCE DRIVING WITH MORNING TRAFFIC. I AM GLAD THAT I AM NOT DRIVING ON THE BIG HIGHWAYS THE CONSEQUENCE COULD BE DIFFERENT. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE IGNITION COMPUTER (RPM) IS CAUSING ONE OF THE IGNITION COIL TO MELT AND CRACK. FOR SURE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN ON THIS CAR THAT REQUIRES RECALL. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR BLINKER HAS BEEN REPLACED EVERY 4-6 MONTHS. SOCKET IS COMPLETELY MELTED. BULBS ARE MELTED. BLACK IS ALL AROUND SOCKET. WHILE DRIVING MY '07 FORD EDGE ON THE EXPRESSWAY I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH AND BEGAN STALLING. I EXITED THE EXPRESSWAY TO NOTICE THIS BURNING SMELL COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF MY CAR. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT TO A SAFE PLACE TO PARK WHEN IT JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A WELL KNOW AUTO SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT AN IGNITION COIL WAS BURNED AND THE REASON MY CAR STALLED. I HAD THE IGNITION COIL REPLACED AND THE CAR STILL WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE CRANK SHAFT AND CAM SHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE 2007 FORD EDGE STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEMS, SHAKING, STALLING. 6/1/12 TOOK VEHICLE TO PEP BOYS THINKING IT WAS A SENSOR OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. THE IGNITION COILS WERE MELTED FROM A ENCLOSE EXPLOSION OF THE PART.. UPON REPLACING THE PARTS, THE CAR FAIL TO RUN PROPERLY. PEP BOYS CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE FORD DEALERSHIP KNEW RIGHT AWAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THEY OPENLY ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS A SERIOUS FIRE DANGER AND THE CAR HAD TO BROUGHT TO THEM TO FIX. HAS SOMETHING TO WITH THE ENGINE COMPUTER BUT..... NO RECALL FOR YEAR 2007 WAS TOLD HOW LUCKY I WAS THAT THE CAR DID NOT EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. THE REAR TURN SIGNAL BULBS ARE BURNING OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS OF APPROX EVERY 4-5 MONTH. THE BULBS AND ASSEMBLY BOTH SHOW SIGNS OF BLACKENING AND MELTING. THE ISSUE ONLY SEEMS TO BE WITH THE REAR TURN SIGNALS. I HAVEN'T HAD TO REPLACE ANY OTHER EXTERIOR LIGHTS SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN MAY 2009. *TR

BOTH REAR BRAKE LIGHT SOCKETS ARE BURNT AND MELTED. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED IN COMPLAINT NUMBERS 10439124, 10380902, 10372008, AND 10307462 AS WELL . A QUICK SEARCH ON THE INTERNET WILL REVEAL NUMEROUS OWNERS HAVE AND ARE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT ISSUE. THE SOCKET THAT PLUGS INTO THE BRAKE LIGHT PIGTAIL (ON BOTH SIDES) IS BURNT AND ACTUALLY MELTED. THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS BEEN HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE TAILLIGHT HOUSING ITSELF. AND THIS IS HAPPENING WITHOUT CAUSING A FUSE TO BLOW OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO AND ALL THE MILEAGE INFORMATION WENT BLANK. THE FRONT AIRBAG LIGHT, SERVICE WRENCH AND SHORTLY THERE AFTER THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LIGHT CAME ON. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND AFTER STOPPING FOR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, BUT MOVED SLOWLY APPARENTLY STUCK IN THE HIGH GEARS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT UP OR DOWN. I OWN A 2007 FORD EDGE. RECENTLY I REPLACED 3 PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE/TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS IN A MATTER OF WEEKS. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO STOP BUYING CHEAP BULBS. HERE'S THE KICKER - EACH TIME I WENT IN TO AUTO PARTS SHOP TO BUY A BULB, THERE WAS SOME ONE ELSE THERE BUYING A BULB FOR FORD EDGE REAR PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT. AND I'VE NOTICED A MUNBER OF FORD EDGE'S ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LIGHT / TURN SIGNAL NOT OPERATING. THE LAST BULB I PUT INTO MY VEHICLE BURNED OUT SO BADLY THAT THE PLASTIC BASE OF THE BULB MELTED INTO THE BULB SOCKET! FINALLY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SOCKET, BUT NOT UNTIL I ALMOST HAD A FIRE. I THINK THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT FORD IS IGNORING OR DENYING TO AVOID THE COST OF REPLACING TAIL LIGHT SOCKETS...
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FRONT BRAKES AND HE SMELLED A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. MOST RECENTLY, THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD ONLY CUT THE ROTORS AND REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE BURNING AROMA. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000.
