Due to a lack of available parts for this recall, the vehicle repairs will take up to 30 plus days before the parts arrive. On top of that, there is a waiting list for the vehicles that need to be fixed. This means, I will be without a vehicle for a lengthy amount of time. They don’t have enough loaners vehicles and I cannot afford to purchase a new car at this time. This recall issue has caused people lots of unneeded stress, maintenance cost, and loss of wages. Ford needs to be held accountable on this issues. Additionally, I took the vehicle to a Ford Dealership (LaFayette Ford) on/about the 2 of May 2025. There were two recalls on the vehicle at that time. The fixed one recall. They informed that, there was nothing they could do with recall 23S64 until the vehicle was having issues. They did not...

The engine died in an unexpected earlier timeframe than recall notice. I had to get vehicle towed at my expense as no offers existed for recalls yet to the nearest Ford. This means it sat longer with a dead engine and battery not in use. The battery was brand new before the engine died. After Ford installed a new engine I picked up my vehicle. I now had a new problem. The battery light came on. It was late when I picked up my car and the dealership was closing. I notified Ford c/s the next day and they approved to take it back to ANY dealership. There are several Ford dealerships near my home. My 2nd option was Bill Fick Ford. In short I told them my story listed above + recall final engine repair due. Initially there was a female that approved towing and said Ford would help...

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that the engine seized while driving at an undisclosed speed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer after several months, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). Upon retrieval of the vehicle, the battery light started flickering. The contact called another dealer, Gullo Ford of Conroe (925 Interstate 45 S #2, Conroe, TX 77301), but no further assistance was provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.

Oil light and check engine light came on and notification for poor oil pressure out of nowhere. Car started making weird sounds and acceleration was poor. One minute the car was fine and the next I had to tow it to the dealership to get it looked at. Over 2 months now and the issue isn’t resolved as the dealership hasn’t received the parts that they need to repair it.

23S64-Engine Oil Pump RECALL 8/19/2025 driving from Hillsboro Beach, Florida to St. Petersburg, Florida. We had a full engine seizure, we lost oil pressure, and also lost use of the transmission. We overheated and the engine seized. With a loss of power, we had to guide the car off the road. The engine was smoking heavily. The back of the car was completely covered with motor oil. The Florida Highway Patrol called us a tow truck that took us to DeSoto Ford, 3039 Southeast Highway 70, Arcadia, Florida, 34266, 863-494-4848. DeSoto Ford ended up doing multiple repairs on the car. They did the replacement of the 23S64 recall for the oil pump belt and tensioner. The car was there for 24 days. We drove down on 9/12/25 and picked up the car. When they pulled the car out, the car was still covered in oil in the back. We found...

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving 30-40 MPH, the messages "Save the Battery", "Turn off Engine", and "Restart" were displayed. The program restarted, and the screen went blank, and the instrument cluster became inoperable. Additionally, the contact was informed about NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V126000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer again, where it was diagnosed and determined that the alternator, engine, transmission, and computer needed to be replaced. The mechanic informed the contact that there was no warranty coverage for the failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle decelerated to 50 MPH. The vehicle was shaking abnormally. The phone App alerted the contact that there was a powertrain malfunction and reduced power. The "Service Engine Soon" message was displayed. The oil and maintenance warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer previously, where it was diagnosed with engine and powertrain failures. I scheduled a recall repair appointment at Metro Ford, Miami (9000 N W 7th Ave) for my 2021 Ford EcoSport, recall 23S64/25S12. However, the service department verbally refused to perform the recall, stating that “the part must fail first” and that it was a manufacturer issue. My wife was told this directly at the service desk. This recall involves critical components that could cause engine failure or power loss, and the refusal to repair violates federal safety requirements under 49 U.S. Code §30120. I am reporting this refusal and requesting NHTSA to review and ensure compliance.

Myself, my husband and our son were driving on the freeway going 70 mph and all of a sudden with no warning and our engine lost all power we almost got killed by a semi my husband had to put the car in neutral to restart it and then it would only go about 40 mph, the RPM were between 4 and 5 going 30 mph, I took my car to valley Ford of Columbus and they told me it was some kind of valve and it was going to take 2 months for the part to come in, I told valley Ford we almost got killed and this car is a death trap, they didn't care at all they made me drive this car for 2 months with the motor shutting down on me We almost got killed 3 times from semi almost killing us, so finally after 2...

Oil pump tensioner failure still has not fix the recall on my vehicle since 12/23/2023 when it was issued. I had taken my vehicle in today for both recalls Ford only address the Half Shaft recall. But stated parts are not available on the oil pump tensioner. Being waiting for a remedy for year and a half. I can not claim lemon law in California with Ford hiding behind the recall issued. Ford should be forced to buy back vehicle or fix the recall.

I was exiting the freeway and my engine shut down and was unable to manever the vehicle. Stuck on feeder road, unable to place car in neutral to move car out of the road. Police and passerby have to disconnect transmission in order to move my car out of the road. I had car towed to ford dealership. Ford dealership submitted for recall repair approval twice. Both times denied. Dealership advised car is running but they can not repair anything because Ford will approve repair. When Ford Dealership repair service started to put the car back together they realized bolts were one time use and have to order parts. They have had my car for 5 days and still need to keep it for 3 or 4 more days for the replacement bolts to arrive. My car has not been repaired because Ford won't honor recall because they believe what...

2021 Ford EcoSport SES 2.0L gets an Engine Coolant Over-Temperature and Service Engine Soon Warning. In each instance, the Ford service center replaced the engine coolant temperature sensor and/or its associated wiring. In a short time after the repair, the same issue reoccurs (over six times now). Engine is not actually experiencing an over-temp issue, it is just that the sensor/wiring is faulty. When the issue occurs, the car is put into limp mode with reduced power/acceleration, sometimes at highway speeds or when accelerating onto the highway. I've been caught in traffic at highway speed then the car suddenly loses power in limp-mode forcing me to move over to slow lane or to pull over to the shoulder to avoid impeding traffic.

I am filing this complaint regarding critical safety issues with my 2021 Ford Ecosport that arose immediately after an engine replacement performed under Recall #23S64 (Engine Oil Pump Belt and Tensioner Replacement). On [XXX], I dropped off my vehicle at Covert Ford-Lincoln in Austin, TX, for the recall repair. The dealership replaced the engine, but since then, my vehicle has developed severe defects directly resulting from Ford’s improper repair procedures. On [XXX], I picked up the vehicle. Within 20 miles, it abruptly shut off while in motion and would not restart, creating a serious safety hazard. The vehicle was towed back to the dealership, where they blamed the issue on a faulty battery—despite no prior issues. I paid $300 for a replacement. During a test drive, the check engine light illuminated, and the dealership diagnosed a knock sensor issue, which they claimed was unrelated to the engine replacement. They charged...

Five days prior I had car assessed at mechanics ,it was good. Day of incident car started and drove fine. Low oil light come on. I pulled over checked oil level it was fine. I checked the car on my Ford app. There was nothing on the app saying there was a problem. Car drove fine I drove about a hour the car oil lights flashed again. Then the car completely shut down while I was driving. I immediately tried to steer car off the road. The steering was hard.I was trying to give it gas to get it off the road but the car was instantly dead hunk of metal. The car made no noise. I have heard of limp mode but I didn't experience that. I went drove 70 to 0 really fast.I was lucky no one was immediately behind me or was in fast lane because I...

Car has experienced loss of power randomly. Dealership wray ford of bossier city Louisiana sold car without disclosing recalls or defects. Unwilling to help in situation
#11651450 |
My vehicle has outright lost power and shut down entirely with the engine non functional approximately 6 times since I acquired it back in March of 2024. This recall has existed for 2 months prior to me getting my vehicle and I was unaware of the recall at the time I purchased it because dealerships selling vehicles with open recalls wasn’t something I was aware was legal considering the imminent potential safety risks. I have nearly wrecked 3 times while going 50+ mph on major local roads and highways because of my car shutting off entirely with 0 notice. To be entirely honest I don’t have enough money to go out and finance another car and I also don’t think a fault vehicle should become my liability when it’s faulty because of processes the manufacture has cut costs on. Not only is driving my vehicle extremely dangerous but it’s my...

The transmission has failed and was replaced, but the replacement engine has also been recalled and replaced with another recalled engine. Additionally, the tires and various electrical sensors continue to malfunction, the brake lights and sockets are persistently failing, and the front suspension along with wheel bearings require replacement. The car is unsafe to drive, vibrates excessively, and produces loud noises while in motion. I am concerned for my safety and seek assistance in resolving this issue.
#11642058 |
I was driving my vehicle and a loud clunking noise came from the engine, then a flashing engine oil pressure low signal came on the dashboard, the car wouldn’t go over 45 mph and the brake was hard. I had the car towed to the dealership and was told it needs a new engine due to the recall and it would take months to have it fix because there’s no parts but before they can fix my car they have to fix the one that’s been sitting I their lot for almost 3 months. I was told maybe we can help you get into another car. I went to the dealer and I was told there is nothing they can do and that my car will be sitting in their lot for many months. I called Ford customer service and I was told that the dealership has not dismantled my...

Purchased the 2021 Ford EcoSport from Courtesy Ford (new), where I have the regularly serviced the vehicle. However, my ownership experience has been marked by repeated mechanical failures that have escalated to the point where, after only three years of ownership, I am being asked to replace the transmission—a repair I believe is both premature and unjustified given the circumstances outlined below. Timeline of Issues and Repairs: July 17, 2023: First experienced significant engine performance problems, particularly with the Auto Start feature malfunctioning, which led to the engine stalling while driving. Despite multiple tests, these issues persisted. Eventually, the engine was replaced, but I continued to experience jerking and misfiring after the replacement. October 2023 – January 2024: Despite having the engine replaced, the car began showing worsening jerking and misfiring, especially at higher speeds (60-65 mph or above). February 2024: During routine maintenance, I was informed that a catalytic...

Engine failure at 9,664 miles. Took to dealership and advised coolant leaked into engine resulting in failure and inability to operate vehicle.
#11634765 |
Was driving the vehicle going approximately 35-40 miles per hour. Lost all power to the vehicle, no ability to steer or control the vehicle. Once vehicle stopped and after additional inspection at the Ford dealership was informed vehicle had experienced engine failure. First was told it occurred under current belt recall, later told engine failure occurred because of coolant leaking into oil. I was told it is a know problem and recall issue for Ford Escapes and other models with same EcoBoot engines, but that for the EcoSport it has not been recognized as a problem by Ford. Was told that I would need to pay $8816.38 to replace engine. The vehicle had approximately 9600 miles at time of engine failure. I contacted Ford and was told the vehicle was 1-3months outside of buyback timeframes. I was told to take the vehicle to another dealership and they would take care...

Vehicle engine stalled while driving on interstate highway, and it went into limb mode. Vehicle seized and was unresponsive and unable to move. It was incredibly hazardous. Vehicle was towed to the nearest Ford dealership. To date, dealership has not provided a rental vehicle and is unresponsive to recall assistance.

Was driving vehicle and lost power. Had vehicle towed to Ford dealership. Received email stating vehicle experienced engine failure. Also received a recall attachment and told the engine and turbo buster needed replaced. Was told it would be covered under warranty. Next day received call from dealership stating there were not going to cover engine under recall and I would need to pay almost $9,000 for a new engine. The vehicle is a 2021 ford ecosport with under 10,000 miles. When I contacted ford corp, they told me varied stories. First rep. Acknowledge the recall and then said it was up to the dealership to honor it. Second time I called ford corp. the rep said that there was no fix and only a work around and that my paying for the engine replacement was a work around the dealerships had come up with. When I reached back out to...

ENGINE OIL PUMP DRIVE BELT TENSIONER ARM FRACTURED My vehicle has been in the service department since June 30st, following a breakdown during a trip from Odessa, Texas to California. The vehicle malfunctioned in California, approximately a 24-hour drive from our home. Upon investigation, I learned that the part responsible for the breakdown was already subject to a recall. Despite waiting for several days at a hotel near the dealership, I was not provided with a long-term rental. Instead, I was given a Lyft to the nearest airport to continue my trip. I also had to cover the costs of a rental car to return to Texas. Additionally, the faulty part has no estimated delivery date, leaving the vehicle unrepaired for an indefinite period. I foresee potential issues when it comes time to retrieve the vehicle, given the distance involved. Given the extended downtime and the out-of-pocket costs incurred, what...

I started having issues with my 2021 Ford Ecosport the last week of December 2023. My engine completely stalled out [XXX]. I discovered that there was a recall (23s64) on my vehicle and immediately took my car into Elk Grove Ford for recall repairs 1/2/24. I was told that I was too early for the recall and would have to wait between April and August of 2024 for repairs. Ford would not cover the cost of my first few months in a rental due to the "recall being too early" even though my car has been undrivable due to the recall. Now here we are in September, and I am now being told I have to wait for repairs "the first quarter of 2025" meaning Elk Grove Ford would have had my car for over 1 year. This is ridiculous. I have a car note and insurance that I am...

The contact owns a 2021 Ford EcoSport. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 15 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed due to parts not being available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

July 12 my car overheated and shut down in the middle of the highway with no prior indication that there was a problem with my engine. I took it to the dealer the service dept told me it was due to the recall. Then proceeded to tell me that it’s from the cracked cylinder. Upon researching I found out that faulty part can cause over heating and cause cracks. They are currently saying that they aren’t responsible when the service tech told me it was a manufactured defect.

Ford is stating a parts will not be available until early 2025. I almost lost my light driving last night on the highway. The car started slowing down, and making a noise and then started shaking out the blue on the highway and the engine was making a lot of noise. Thank goodness I was able to maneuver my car and not strike a concrete barrier or another vehicle, but I had to pay $200.00 to tow my car home and missed my shift for work. The Low Engine Oil Pressure alert came up on my dashboard, which is related to recall; Campaign: 23S64/23V905. This recall states the vehicle is safe to drive which is a lie. I am still financing this car and it is undriveable. Ford MUST supply a loaner vehicle until the parts come in and/or pay for all Uber/Lyft, grocery delivery fees etc as no one...

I bought the vehicle six months ago and Ford will not complete the recall: Campaign/NHTSA# 23S64/23V905 Issue Date 2024-01-04 Description On your vehicle, it may be possible for the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm to fracture, and separate from the tensioner backing plate, andor the oil pump drive belt material may degrade and lose teeth, resulting in a loss of engine oil pressure. Safety Risk A loss of engine oil pressure can result in engine damage andor seizure, which can result in a loss of motive power and a loss of the mechanical vacuum pump required to provide power braking assist, increasing the risk of a crash. I brought a 2021 Ford Ecosport from Auto Direct in NC, February 2024( was not told about recall until after I signed the contract) and tried to fix the recall on the vehicle when purchased. I called Capital Ford dealership and was told they could not fix the recall until I got the letter. Presently, the vehicle is not working, the part of the recall has went out. It a big frustration issues because I have to keep making a monthly payments while my vehicle is sitting waiting for the manufacturer to decide to fix it. I would like to get out of this vehicle. I would like for the manufacturer to pay off my car so I can purchase another one. I need help.

On [XXX] I was driving on [XXX] towards Ashville, NC at 65 mph. My oil pressure light came on. Within thirty seconds my car had decelerated and come to a complete stop. I was able to roll onto the shoulder. There was no warning. The light had never come on before. I had just had my oil changed the month before. My car was eventually towed to Ken Wilson Ford in Canton, NC. I was told it was the oil tensioner arm and the engine needed to be replace. It is still there. Thankfully there is a dedicated service member that worked for more than eight weeks to get authorization for a rental car. I do not know how long they will allow me to keep that; without it I do not have transportation to and from work. I have talked to Ford Service and they have very concern about...

The engine oil pump belt tensioner is damaged, which caused me to be unable to drive the car and have difficulty braking. There is a recall for this part and no available repair.

The low oil pressure light came on and within minutes the engine completely stalled and multiple check engine codes came up. Lost all control of the vehicle. It is currently at the dealer and needs a whole new engine. It has been inspected by the technicians at the dealership. This all happened within minutes of the light coming on. The technician stated the oil pump belt was damaged and came apart resulting in a whole new engine being needed. Ford sent the recall notice in Feb 2024 and the part is still not available. They are refusing to pay for the new engine up front.

I have had nothing but problems with this car. It only had 36 miles on the car & dealership (Frederick Ford,Seaford de) classified it as used. The car wouldn’t start, had to call roadside assistance. After waiting the car decided to start. Going down road car kept cutting off & on and losing power. Everyone it lost power I had to try and pull over. What if there was nowhere to pull over and it just cut off in the road?!?! The dealership has been a total nightmare . I tried to exchange car & the sales manager was [XXX]. And was yelling he wouldn’t be able to sell a messed up vehicle. After complaining to Ford all I got was an extensive warranty with free oil changes. That’s it. This is the second time this has happened resulting in loss of my reliable transportation to/work, major repair while still in warrenty, WITHOUT vehicle loaner, rental or replacement during that time. I was again at the top of a steep hill- this time heading onto the highway- but midway into one of the busiest intersections in town. I heard a loud sound followed by mechanical spinning/winding when I try to accelerate on the green light. When I tried to drive or remove my food from the break, my car went backward down the hill and into oncoming traffic. Restarting my car didn’t help as park and drive didn’t engage. The only control I now had was the steering wheel and brake system. There were no warning signs before, during or after the ordeal. I’m not certain my lighting system worked on the outside of my vehicle as cars continued to...
