THE CONTACT DISCOVERED A FUEL LEAK AND SMELLED A FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 04V113000 (POWER TRAIN) AND 03V471000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND FAILED TO READ THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL WAS SPEW BACK OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE JET AND PRIMARY RECEIVER FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 205,000.
I PURCHASED A PRE OWNED 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON NOVEMBER 23, 2013. ON DECEMBER 5, 2013 I STARTED UP MY CAR AND BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF MY GAS HANDLE STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN REALLY FAST, THE GAS PUMP SYMBOL WAS BLINKING ON AND OFF AND IT WAS CHIMING AS WELL. I HAD A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I SAT THERE AND COUNTED A TOTAL OF 3-4 TIMES OF THIS HANDLE GOING UP AND DOWN. IT ALSO DID IT ON DECEMBER 4, 2013 WHEN I STARTED UP CAR, I HAD WELL OVER A HALF A TANK OF GAS. I HAVE A ONE YEAR WARRANTY SO I GOOGLED THIS AND READ STORIES OF ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND SAW A LINK TO THIS SITE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED SMOKING WE PULLED OVER, THE FIRE FIGHTERS WERE CALLED. THEY HAD TO BREAK THE DASHBOARD IN ORDER TO STOP THE FIRE. THEY SPRAY THE CAR WITH WATER INSIDE AND OUT. CAR WAS TOTAL. THE FIRE FIGHTERS THOUGHT THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY THE WIRE THAT STARED THE FIRE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE READING FLUCTUATED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE STALLED TWICE AT DIFFERENT TIMES. ON ONE OCCASION, THE ENGINE FAILED TO RESTART AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ENGINE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE FUEL TANK AND SENSORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO BOTH FUEL PUMPS WERE FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. UPDATED 03/14/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS BOUNCING UP AND DOWN ON A REGULAR BASIS. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V471000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS) WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE BUT THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
AFTER DRIVING APPROX 200 MILES ON A FULL TANK OF GAS THE GAS GAUGE DROPS TO NEAR EMPTY AND THE ENGINE STALLS OR NEARLY STALLS ON LEFT HAND TURNS. THIS REPEATED NUMEROUS TIMES ON A CROSS COUNTRY TRIP. I HAVE RECENTLY MADE A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER ABOUT A 2004 PACIFICA THAT I BOUGHT ABOUT 4MOS AGO. I KNOW THAT MY CAR MAY BE OUT OF "DEALER WARRANTIES", BUT WHEN THERE ARE THINGS GOING ON WITH YOUR VEHICLE THAT'S UNDER RECALL, SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. AT ANY GIVEN TIME WHEN PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE ACCELERATOR LOCKS UP AND DOES NOT DEPRESS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT RELEASES AND LURCHES FORWARD. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS NOW. IT HAPPENS ABOUT 4 OR 5 TIMES PER WEEK. NO REPAIRS DONE TO DATE. VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
THE EVENTS LEASING UP TO THE DEFECT WERE ERRATIC GAS GAUGE READINGS, FROM 1/2 TANK TO EMPTY IMMEDIATELY, THEN SOMETIMES BACK TO HALF. THE CAR HAS STALLED ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING.BEING TOLD BY DEALER THAT IT NEEDS PARTS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH GAS GAUGE READINGS IE: THROTTLE BODY CLEANING, MAP SENSOR, FUEL FILLER TUBE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE PARTS THAT IM BEING TOLD ARE NEEDED ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER UPON READING ALL OF THE DISCUSSION BOARDS AND LOOKING AT FORMER RECALLS THE PARTS THAT ARE BEING RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE TO FIX THE PROBLEM ARE UNDER MY WARRANTY. *TR
FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT ENDED UP IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE. AUTO ADJUSTER NOTIFIED THE FUEL LINE CAUSED THE FIRE. *TR

IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD HAVE RESULTED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT BECAUSE THE COMPONENT WAS MANUFACTURED OUT OF INSUFFICIENT MATERIALS, IT EASILY FAILED. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 53,000.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD DOING ABOUT 35 MPH AND I RAN OVER A PIECE OF METAL WITH MY TIRE. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME I SMELLED GAS, LOOKED UNDER MY CAR, AND THE GAS WAS GUSHING OUT OF MY TANK UNDER THE CAR. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE SIPHONING HOSES TO THE GAS TANK REPLACED THREE TIMES. WHICH ALL THREE FAILED ALL THREE TIMES. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN CHANGED. THE WHOLE FUEL TANK HAS BEEN REPLACED. THE GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATES FROM HALF TANK TO EMPTY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON EVERY WEEK. AFTER RESETTING BY THE SERVICEMAN IT COMES BACK ON WITH IN A WEEK. ALL OF THESE SAFETY DEFECTS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED HOWEVER IT REMAINS DOING ALL OF THE ABOVE LEAVING THIS VEHICLE TO BE VERY UNSAFE. PLEASE NOTE THIS SO THAT ANY OTHERS MAY HAVE THIS TO REFER TO. *TR

THE HEATER DOESN'T ALWAYS TURN ON, BUT WHEN IT DOES IT CANNOT BE ADJUSTED UNLESS THE POWER TO THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. WE HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA MANUFACTURED ON 10/31/03. IN NOVEMBER 2006 @ 49K MILES, WE BEGAN TO ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR. EVEN THOUGH THE TANK WAS FULL IT WILL DROP TO EMPTY AND INDICATE LOW FUEL. IT THEN IT WILL BOUNCE BACK TO HALF FULL OR FULL. THEN DROP AGAIN TO LOW FUEL. IT MAY DO THIS 10 TIMES DURING A SHORT CROSS TOWN TRIP. WE TOOK IN BACK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A BAD FUEL CONTROL MODULE AND THAT CHRYSLER HAD JUST ISSUED A RECALL (F44) FOR THIS VERY REASON, BUT THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. DRIVING ROAD SPEED, THE 2004 PACIFICA WITH GAUGE READING "150 MILES TO EMPTY" STALLS AND THE GAUGE READ "38 MILES TO EMPTY". CANNOT RESTART BUT UPON ADDING 2.5 GAL OF GAS, STARTED AGAIN. LEAKS ON DRIVER SIDE WHEN RAINING WARPED ROTORS AT 35,000 MILES FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE WILL PLUNGE FROM F TO E WHEN THERE IS A LEAST HALF TANK OF GAS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THEY CAN NEVER DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM NOISES TO DIAGNOSE OR FIX. *NM
I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE GAS MILEAGE THAT MY VEHICLE IS GETTING. IT IS SUPPOSED TO GET 17 IN TOWN AND 24 HIGHWAY. I AM ONLY GETTING 12.8 IN TOWN AND 13 ON THE HIGHWAY. THEY TELL ME TO WAIT UNTIL IT GETS TO 5,000 MILES AND IT WILL GET BETTER. WELL, I'M AT 4,660 AND IT IS STILL BAD!! DEFINITELY NOT THE MILEAGE POSTED ON THE DEALERSHIP PAPERS IN THE WINDOW OF MY CAR WHEN I PURCHASED IT 5 MONTHS AGE.
