Defect: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A NGC-1 POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, THE SOFTWARE PROTOCOLE USED TO TEST THE VEHICLE EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) SYSTEM MAY LEAD TO ENGINE STALLING UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS.

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON MARCH 15, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

Recall 03V471000 — FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

Defect: ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE CHASSIS FUEL SUPPLY TUBE MAY HAVE BEEN INCORRECTLY MANUFACTURED.

Consequence: UNDER CERTAIN ENGINE AND VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONDITIONS, THE FUEL LINE MAY SEPARATE, RESULTING IN A FUEL LEAK AND AN INCREASED RISK OF A VEHICLE FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SECONDARY RETENTION CLIP TO THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON DECEMBER 15, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-992-1997.

Subframe/Engine Cradle failed due to rust. Subframe is available for inspection upon request. My safety or the safety of others is put at risk due to the failed (rusted, corroded, rotted) subframe/engine cradle. Vehicle’s engine is at risk of falling through the vehicle’s frame at any moment whether the vehicle is parked or being driven. This problem has been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle and the subframe component has been inspected by a Master ASE Certified Mechanic. No symptoms of the problem prior to the failure that owner has ever been made aware of.

TL* THE CONTACT'S SON OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH, A STATE TROOPER HAD BEGUN TO WAVE HIS SON'S VEHICLE DOWN. THE TROOPER THEN INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. ALL OCCUPANTS IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE STATE TROOPER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AT THE SCENE AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE IT REMAINED IN HIS POSSESSION. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED MCINERNEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF THUNDER BAY(832 W CHISHOLM ST, ALPENA, MI 49707) WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 03V471000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
