I have had issues with fueling the vehicle as when I fuel it I am only able to get a few cents in at a time before the gas pump clicks off or gas starts coming out of the fuel filler neck itself. At most I have been able to fill up my tank halfway but when I try to fill it a few cents worth of gas above halfway, I have engine stalling issues. To try to solve this issue I replaced all the external fuel vapor parts (charcoal cannister, EGR valve, PCV valve, purge solenoid, gas cap, and leak detection pump). The issue is clearly a problem with the internal components of the fuel tank itself. Chrysler has a X53 lifetime warranty for my type of vehicle but only for 19 gallon fuel tanks and my car has an 18 gallon tank. However, NHTSA investigation PE13-016 has shown...
2006 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L V6 engine. Car has intermittent stall at slow speeds or at complete stop. Sometimes feels like it stumbles, other times it dies suddenly and unable to tell the engine shut down. I have to put car in park and completely switch the ignition fully off and turn back on to start position. When it stalls while rolling, I have to brake and bring car to full stop, with no power steering, and go through the same start procedure. No trouble codes are generated, and no check engine light indicator illuminated. Car usually starts right up, but sometimes I have to keep cranking starter, stumbles to catch as if starving for fuel. A/C was on first two times but also happens with A/C off. Research online reveals an open recall for the fuel tank on the 300C model with a 5.7L or 6.4L engine. Problems described...
I here to report what seems to be an on-going issue with the older model Chrysler 300's. I have an 2006 and just recently started smelling gas fumes or an gas odor inside my car. I had a mechanic look at the problem. He assumes it was a cracked or damaged seal. He took the backseat out and looked. The ring was intact but the fuel filter had a small crack in it. We fixed it and thought the problem was over. He said the car would have a heavy fuel smell for a couple of days but would go away once the car was aired out. 3 DAYS go by and though the fumes remained. Now,i see that gas isactually leaking from the underside of the rear passenger side. And the smell is still there. I am taking the car to another repair shop to do a more through...
EVERY TIME I FILL MY CAR WITH GAS I GET A GAS SMELL INSIDE MY CAR AND GARAGE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAY. I CALL ABOUT A RECALL FOR MY CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS TOO OLD TO BE SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT.
CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY, STALLING, I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND. NOW IT WON'T EVEN START. EVERY ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE FUEL ISSUE RECALL. BUT MY BECAUSE MY VIN ISN'T INCLUDED, I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS. YOU GUYS AREN'T PERFECT AND MISSED ADDING MY CAR TO THE RECALL.

AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE VEHICLE STARTED STALLING RIGHT AFTER I STARTED DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, DURING A HEAVY TRAFFIC HOUR ON CITY STREET. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED QUITE OFTEN. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG, BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS GETTING WORSE. AFTER TALKING WITH THEM TODAY, THEY SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN ALMOST FULL OF GAS AND THEY WILL TOP IT OFF AND CHECK FOR THE STALLING. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WORLD JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE RAM (681 SHREWSBURY AVE, SHREWSBURY, NJ 07702, (732) 918-1380). THE DEALER REWIRED THE ELECTRICAL LINE TO THE FUEL PUMP. AFTER THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOOSE FUEL LINE THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A CASE MANAGER WOULD CALL HIM BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS, THE CAR SOMETIMES STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS OR LOW RPM UNTIL A GALLON OR SO OF GAS IS USED UP, THE CAUSE IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE FUEL VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING.

5 MIN AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK, GOING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CAR STARTED LURCHING FORWARD. TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET, PRESSED GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED. THEN RESTARTED AS IF NORMAL. WE HAD 2 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR ON A VERY BUSY STREET. THIS COULD EASILY HAVE CREATED AN ACCIDENT. RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM, FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM. BUT, WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN ON THIS SITE, IT STATES NO RECALLS FOR THIS VIN. WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP? I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AND THE ORIGINAL OWNER IS DECEASED SO I CAN'T OBTAIN ANY INFO/HISTORY ON THE CAR.

THERE IS NO GASOLINE SEEN LEAKING FROM UNDER CAR AT THIS TIME. CONCERNED ABOUT FIRE HAZARD. HEARD OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THIS COULD ALSO BE A VERY SIGNIFICANT FIRE CONCERN AS THE FUMES ARE VERY STRONG IN GARAGE WITH VEHICLE PARKED, AND COULD BE A PROBLEM WHEN GAS APPLIANCES OR WATER HEATERS COME IN PROXIMITY TO VEHICLE.
I OWN A 2006CHRYSLER 300 WITH A 3.5 LITER ENGINE. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS, I'VE EXPERIENCED STALLING AND ENGINE SHUT OFF FOLLOWING REFUELING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO MY MECHANIC WHO ALERTED ME TO A RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYSLER OVER THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE CHALLENGE, I WAS TOLD, WAS THAT THIS WAS A VIN SPECIFIC RECALL, 14-002-14, DATED 4/2214, ON MY MODEL AND ENGINE'S FUEL SYSTEM, NOTED AS A LIFETIME WARRANTY REPAIR, AS STATED IN THAT RECALL, BUT IT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. MY MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THIS PROBLEM, ALLOWING GASOLINE TO ENTER THE EVAPORATOR CHAMBER IN THE FUEL SYSTEM BY DROPPING THE GAS TANK AND EXAMINING IT. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE THIS TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT ADDRESSED. AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THE SAME EXAMINATION WAS CONDUCTED AND THE SAME PROBLEM CONFIRMED. SHORTLY AFTER FILLING GAS TANK, WHETHER STANDING OR AT CONSIDERABLE SPEED, CAR STALLS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED (IE 65 MPH ON ROUTE 80) CAR WILL SHUDDER AND THEN RESTART ITSELF; AT SLOW SPEED DRIVER MUST RESTART MANUALLY BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL AND USING IGNITION. IF PARKED AT IDLE, CAR WILL JUST STOP SEVERAL TIMES. OCCURS AT ALL LEVELS OF GAS TANK PRIOR TO REFILL. (I AM FORCED TO SELECT A DATE, BELOW, BUT IT HAS HAPPEN MANY TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR.)

VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT ANY WARNING. NO INDICATORS APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS OCCURS IN THE MORNING AFTER STARTING THE CAR AND DRIVING LESS THAN ONE HALF MILE. WHEN I COME TO A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF.
POWER LOSS AFTER RE-FEELING CAR TURNED OFF
RIGHT AFTER REFUELING THE CAR IT ENDED UP STALLING AT A RED LIGHT. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF SO I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR IN ORDER TO DRIVE AGAIN. THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY SHUT OFF AT EVERY STOP. IT EVEN HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A U-TURN, SO I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET UNTIL RECRANKING THE CAR. I DID RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS WAS A FUEL TANK PROBLEM DO TO A FAULTY VALVE PLACED IN THE FUEL TANK. THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR SOME 2006 CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS, BUT NOT ALL. LEAVING ME WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO HELP GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THERE FAULT FOR BUILDING A FAULTY VALVE.
WHEN TANK IS FULL THE CAR SHIMMIES AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. WHEN TANK IS ONLY HALF FULL NO ISSUES.
FOR THE YEAR EVERY TIME I FILL MY CAR UP WITH GAS THERE IS AN OVERWHELMING FUEL SMELL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP AGAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON JANUARY 11TH WITH LEAKING FUEL. TANK IS DETERIORATING ACCORDING TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR MANAGER. CAR IS BEING REPAIRED. NOT SURE WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THE BASE MODEL REGARDING THE 2006 CHRYSLER 300. I HAVE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS CAR. THE "KINKS" SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED ON THE 2006 CHRYSLER 300 BASE MODELS WITH THE "GEAR SHIFT AND GAS LEAKS. CAN I GET A REFUND ON MY GEARSHIFT BEING STUCK IN TRAFFIC ON A BUSY CITY STREET. WHENEVER YOU PUT GAS IN THE TANK AND FILL IT UP THE CAR WE'RE ALL TURN OFF AS YOU ARE DRIVING GO A LITTLE BIT AND THEN TURN OFF AGAIN. IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME YOU PUT GAS IN THE CAR OR FILL IT UP.

MARK CHRYSLER 300 STALLS WHEN I FILL IT UP WITH GAS IS THERE A WARRANTY FOR A NEW GAS TANK IT RUNS FINE UNTIL I FILL IT UP WITH GAS IT SHUTS OFF AT LOW SPEED AND IN TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY STALL AND CUT OUT MAKING IT REALLY DANGEROUS ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR WILL JUST SHUT DOWN AND YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN NOW IT STALLS EVEN IN DRIVE SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT.
THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING AND IN REVERSE. I CAN RESTART IT WITH NO PROBLEM AS LONG AS I IMMEDIATELY STEP ON THE GAS PEDDLE. I HAVE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT & BACK TO DRIVE. WHEN I TURN THE KEY I DO NOT HEAR THE FUEL PUMP LIKE I USED TOO! I'VE HAD REPAIRS COSTING$509.96 AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! I THINK MY FUEL PUMP IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY OR ABOUT TO STOP WORKING! IS THERE A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP?

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE FUEL TANK HAD LESS THEN A QUARTER OF A TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IN THE FUEL TANK, THE O RING AND THE FASTENER PACKAGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE USED 2 WEEKS AGO. INITIALLY THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE UNTIL I FILLED IT UP WITH FUEL. AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION MY VEHICLE STARTED STALLING AS IF I WAS LOSING POWER TO MY VEHICLE. AFTER A FEW MILES THE STALLING STOPPED. IN THE PAST FEW WEEKS THE STALLING HAS BECOME WORSE EVERY TIME I PUMP FUEL. IT SHUTS OFF IF I'M IDLE AT A LIGHT, IT SHUTS OFF WHEN I'M ATTEMPTING TO PARK, TURN LEFT, OR IN A DRIVE THRU. AS SOON AS I WOULD CRANK MY VEHICLE UP AND GO TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WON'T MOVE UNTIL AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND THEN IT JUST JERKS OUT BEFORE A SMOOTH DRIVE. YESTERDAY I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AFTER INFORMING THE USED CAR SALES LOT WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND WANTED...
