THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

MY SHIFT GEAR GOT STUCK AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND REPAIRED.
UNABLE TO SHIFT GEAR OUT OF PARKING POSITION. THIS ISSUE WAS FIXED AUGUST 2009 AND IS HAPPENING AGAIN. UNFORTUNATELY, I NEVER KNOW WHEN THE ISSUE WILL SURFACE AND RECENTLY, I WAS IN A NOT SO NICE NEIGHBORHOOD AND FRIGHTENED TO DEATH BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO REVERSE. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS OF CUTTING MY CAR OFF AND ON AND EXECUTING THE BRAKES, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR GOING AGAIN. SO OVER THIS ISSUE RIGHT NOW. *TR
ON MANY OCCASIONS, MY CAR HAS BEEN STUCK IN PARK. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS, AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER 300'S. SOME OF THE CARS WERE RECALLED, BUT OF COURSE, MINE WAS NOT. HOWEVER, I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CARS THAT WERE RECALLED. SOMETHING UNDER THE GEAR SHIFTER BETWEEN THE FRONT SEATS IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IN THE PAST, IT WOULD COME UNSTUCK AFTER A FEW MINUTES, BUT NOW, I THINK IT IS FINALLY FULLY MESSED UP! I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET MY CAR OUT OF PARK FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS. I'VE TRIED PULLING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT APPLIED), I'VE TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RE-CRANKING IT, I'VE TRIED PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, I'VE TRIED SHIFTING THE GEAR WHILE...
THE VEHICLE WILL FREQUENTLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER. IT ALSO STALLS, THE GEAR SHIFT HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT IT CUT OFF ON ME ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN TODAY AT 75MPH!! VERY DANGEROUS!! LUCKILY THE SEMI TRUCK WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AROUND ME BUT THAT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.... *TR

THIS CAR HAS ISSUES FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO ELECTRICAL THE COMPANY NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THEM BETTER. *TR

I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINT ARTICLES FOR SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME MAKE AND MODEL. FOUND A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 ON INTERNET. CALLED THE NUMBER TO CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER LISTED IN THE NOTIFICATION ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THE LETTER ADDRESSED 2005 CHRYSLER 300S MY VIN DID NOT APPLY. ALSO CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, SAME ANSWER, CANT HELP ME UNLESS I PAY. NOW I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION TO WORK OR OTHERWISE AND HAVE TO PAY TO GET VEHICLE TOWED AND FIND A MECHANIC THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $$. THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM FOR...
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS CHANGED AT 109318 MILES BECAUSE OF SLIPPAGE. SINCE THEN I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SHIFTER GETTING STUCK IN PARK. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE AT A CHRYSLER DEALER 5 TIMES AND THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I CALLED FOR A TOW WHILE IT WAS STUCK IN PARK TODAY AND THE AAA TOW DRIVER DEMONSTRATED HOW TO GET IT OUT OF PARK. HE STATED THAT ITS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THAT YEAR CHRYSLER. I'M CONFUSED WHY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROCEDURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 128238. I WILL TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND DEMONSTRATE THE PROCEDURE FOR UNLOCKING THE SHIFTER, PERHAPS THEY CAN MAKE A REPAIR. *TR

RATHER THAN ASK FOR A RECALL. CHRYSLER IS HAVING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, WHILE THEY NEEDED THREE DIFFERENT SHIFTER(CLIPS) TO REMEDY THEIR DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I HAVE WRITTEN THEM A LETTER STATING MY CONCERNS BUT THEY HAVE DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. *TR CHRYSLER HAS REPAIRED OR RE-DESIGNED THE GEAR SHIFT MECHANISM 4 TIMES. THEY REFUSED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT STICK YOUNG FAMILIES WITH A $500 PLUS REPAIR BILL, DUE TO THEIR FAULTY SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. I PAID FOR THE REPAIRS AND DO NOT WANT ANYTHING FROM THEM, BUT TO KNOW THEY HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF UNSUSPECTING FAMILIES. ..UPDATED 12/17/13 *BF

THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V460000(POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
I WAS INTENDING TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE MY FLOOR SHIFTER OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO AT THIS POINT. I HAD TO MAKE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRANSPORTATION. THE COST OF REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND $500.00. I HAVE SPOKEN BOTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. CHRYSLER TOOK MY INFORMATION INCLUDING MY VEHICLE MILEAGE OF 54000. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. A HIGH NUMBER OF OTHER 2005 CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT PROBLEM. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER. I WENT TO THE POST OFFICE, PARKED AND CUT THE CAR OFF. WHEN I GOT READY TO DEPART. I CUT THE CAR ON AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE GEAR INTO REVERSE. THE GEAR WOULD NOT MOVE INTO REVERSE. ON 3/9/2012 I WENT TO DRIVE MY CAR, AS I WAS PUTTING THE CAR IN REVERSE I FOUND THAT THE GEAR SHAFT WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I DID EVERYTHING TO GET IT TO ENGAGE, BUT IT WOULDN'T BUDGE, AFTER A WHILE I GAVE UP AND CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALER WHO INSTRUCTED ME ON HOW TO GET THE BRACKET TO MOVE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT (THE BRACKET) MOVED, ALLOWING FOR THE GEAR SHAFT TO MOVE OUT OF PARK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNDER RECALL, I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH TRANSMISSION CUP PLUG BRACKET WAS UNDER RECALL FOR CERTAIN CHRYSLER, DODGE, AND JEEPS MY CAR DIDN'T FALL WITH IN THE PARAMETER OF THE VIN NUMBER. THE CAR ALMOST IMMEDIATELY NEEDED THE BRAKE STEPPED ON NUMEROUS TIMES TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO RELEASE SO THE CAR COULD BE PLACED IN GEAR.9-19-2012 THE CAR WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO NAPLES DODGE, WHERE ANOTHER SHIFTER WAS INSTALLED AT A COST OF $560.00. THE SECOND UNIT WAS 4578029AC THE THIRD 68091343AA. A NEW CLIP HAS BEEN ADDED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WHICH HAS OCCURRED IN AVENGERS, SEBRINGS, ETC. RATHER THAN ASK FOR A RECALL. CHRYSLER IS HAVING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE REPAIRS, WHILE THEY NEEDED THREE DIFFERENT SHIFTER(CLIPS) TO REMEDY THEIR DEFECTIVE DESIGN. I HAVE WRITTEN THEM A LETTER STATING MY CONCERNS BUT THEY HAVE DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. *TR

PARK LOCK OUT MECHANISM FAILED RENDERING VEHICLE NOT USABLE. THE MOUNT POINT ON THE MECHANISM FAILED SO EVEN THE OVERRIDE DEVICE WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL ON 05-07 VEHICLES OF THIS TYPE BUT THEY CLAIM MY 05 IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL (SB-10038199-2853) AND THAT THEY WILL OPEN A CASE. ON JULY 17,2012 I DROVE MY VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 A.M TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO CAMP. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME I PARKED THE CAR. APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES LATER I GOT INTO THE CAR, STARTED IT, AND PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO RELEASE MY GEAR FROM THE PARK POSITION. AS I DID THAT, THE GEAR WOULD NOT MOVE. I TRIED THIS APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 10 TIMES BEFORE GIVING UP. I THEN CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER DEALER IN NEW CARROLTON, MD AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE PART. I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAVE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE IN REGARDS TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE CHRYSLER 300 WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK SHIFTER LEVER WAS BROKEN. THERE IS ALSO A K-39 RECALL ISSUED BY CHRYSLER BUT MY CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER IT. I SPOKE TO CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX IT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE SPRING THAT IS BROKEN PREVENTS THE CAR FROM BEING SHIFTED OUT OF PARK IF THE BRAKE IS NOT PRESSED. *TR

THE FAILURE OF THE "TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER" COMMONLY CALLED "THE PINK THINGY" ON LINE SOME OWNERS TELL OF HAVING GOTTEN A RECALL. I CALLED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO DRIVE BUT THE SHIFTER REMAINED STUCK IN PARK. THE CONTACT NOTICED A PLASTIC SPRING LOCATED IN THE GEAR SHIFTER THAT WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP OR DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE CAR IS STUCK IN PARK IN MY DRIVEWAY.IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD IT IS SHIFT INTERLOCK LATCH THAT IS PLASTIC. I HAVE ORDERED THE REPLACEMENT PART IN ALLOY, A DORMAN PART # 924-706. I WAS TOLD IT IS A RECALL, AND CALLED MY DEALERSHIP BUT ALAS MY VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THE SAME PLASTIC PART GETS REINSTALLED INTO THE VEHICLE FOR $200-475 FEE AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MANY TIMES AS THE PLACE I PURCHASED THE PART SAID THEY ORDER THIS PART OFTEN DUE TO THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OWNERS NEED TO REPLACE IT THEMSELVES. THE CONTACT'S PERSONAL MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AND INTO NEUTRAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE DRIVEN IN NEUTRAL POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE TECHNICIAN ON DUTY DAMAGED THE GEAR SHIFT FURTHER. THE TECHNICIAN THEN SHOWED THE CONTACT HOW TO MANEUVER THE GEAR CABLES TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT REPAIR. THE CONTACT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE WITH PARTS PURCHASED FROM A SALVAGE YARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
