GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK. THE INTERLOCK RETURN SPRING HOOK IS BROKEN. I HAVE TO PRESS A PINK LEVER UNDER GEAR SHIFT TO GET OUT OF PARK. I HAD TO TAKE CONSOLE APART TO GET TO LEAVER. I AM FINDING OUT THAT SOME VEHICLES HAVE A RECALL ON THIS DEFECT AND OTHERS DO NOT. I AM TOLD THAT VEHICLES MADE IN CERTAIN FACTORY'S HAVE RECALLS. WHY IS THAT FAIR THAT ALTHOUGH MINE WAS NOT MADE IN A CERTAIN FACTORY, BUT IS STILL BROKE, IT WILL NOT BE REPAIRED? I HAVE PURCHASED MANY CHRYSLER PRODUCTS IN THE PAST AND HAVE BEEN VERY COMPLIMENTARY OF MY CHRYSLER 300 EXCEPT FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 15 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE FAILURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO PARKING THE VEHICLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK AFTER ENGINE STARTUP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:05V460000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 110,000. KMJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THE PARKING SWITCH FAILED. THE GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT COME OUT OF PARK OR MOVE INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES. THE CONTACT WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST; HOWEVER, THE DEALER AGREED TO REPLACE THE GEAR SHIFT SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES PRIOR TO THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE PLASTIC HOOK IN THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY FRACTURED AND AS A RESULT, THE SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS STUCK IN PARK. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A PLASTIC PIECE IN THE GEAR SHIFTER THAT FRACTURES AND COULD POSSIBLY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
COULD NOT GET THE GEAR SHIFT OUT OF PARK - BROKEN - A/T SHIFT INTERLOCK LEVER REPLACEMENT- PART CHEAP - LABOR $80.00. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE AS THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,569.
IN REFERENCE TO MY 2005 CHRYSLER 300 - I WENT OUT TO DRIVE MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. I FOUND OUT IT WAS A SMALL PIN IN THE SHIFTER MECHANISM. AS I RESEARCHED ONLINE, I FOUND THIS PROBLEM TO BE WIDE SPREAD WITH CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS. THE DEALERSHIP KNEW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE MINUTE I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT IS VERY COMMON AND THEY SEE THIS REGULARLY. THEY ALSO SAID THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT SELL THAT PARTICULAR PART SEPARATELY AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT. LASTLY, THE DEALERSHIP EVEN QUESTIONED WHY THIS PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN RECALLED. I ALSO CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM (AND MOUNTING COST TO TOW MY CAR AND HAVE IT FIXED). I PARKED MY CAR ON SUNDAY MID-DAY. I TRIED TO LEAVE ON MONDAY MORNING FOR THE STORE AND IT WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE OTHER THAN MY RESEARCHING THE NET AND FINDING THAT YOU'VE HAD HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS CHRYSLER'S 'PARTIAL RECALL K39' THAT THEY'RE SAYING WILL ONLY COVER CERTAIN VIN'S. THAT IS CRAP! IF THE SPRING IS BROKEN IT'S BROKEN. DON'T MATTER WHERE THEY MADE IT OR WHAT STAMP IS ON MY DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,320.

MY CHRYSLER 300 IS STUCK IN PARK! *TR
MY CARS ENGINE STARTED CLACKING AND SMOKING FOR SEVERAL DAYS - THEN THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND WOULD DIE DOWN AND ALMOST STOP WHEN DRIVING. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE AUTO SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT HONOR MY WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WAS A LOT OF SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE AND I HAD NOT CHANGED THE OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS. MY HUSBAND KEPT UP TO DATE ON ALL CHANGES OF OIL. IT IS A 2.7 ENGINE MADE BY CHRYSLER MANUFACTURE WITH 78,844 MILES AND THE WARRANTY IS UP TO 80K MILES. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE AG'S OFFICE IN BOSTON, MA WHERE I LIVE AND CALLED CHRYSLER TO TELL THEM THAT I KNOW ABOUT THE 2.7ENGINE SLUDGE PROBLEM. THE AG IS INVESTIGATING IT WHILE MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE CHRYSLER SERVICE CENTER WAITING FOR ME TO GO AND GET IT BACK. I ALSO HAVE...
GEAR SHIFT GETS LOCKED INTO PARK AND WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE WHEN CAR IS ON AND BRAKE IS PUSHED IN. IN THIS CASE WE HAD TO REMOVE PARTS AROUND THE SHIFTER TO GET TO THE PINK RELEASE TAB THAT IS LOCATED BELOW THE SHIFTER, AND MANUALLY PUSH THE PINK TAB SO THAT THE SHIFTER COULD GO IN REVERSE. THE CAR IS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AS OF NOW, SO THAT THE CAR DOESN'T GET STUCK IN PARK AGAIN. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS ON BUT CAN BE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM IF NOT FIXED. *TR

1. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT LONG TERM AND SYSTEMIC OIL SLUDGE PROBLEMS CAUSING SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURES IN DODGE AND CHRYSLER VEHICLES USING THE 2.7L V6 ENGINE SPANNING FROM APPROX 1998-2005. MY WELL MAINTAINED 2005 CHRYSLER 300 ENGINE FAILED SUDDENLY AND DANGEROUSLY WHILE DRIVING. AND THIS WAS 1 MONTH AFTER PAYING THE CHRYSLER DEALER $850 TO CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT AT FACTORY SUGGESTED DATES. WITH ONLY 56,000 MILES AND OIL CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES (OWNERS MANUAL SUGGESTS 7500) THE CHRYSLER DEALER INITIALLY WANTED OVER $2000 TO FIX AN UNEXPLAINED INTERNAL WATER PUMP LEAK, AND TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. ONLY AFTER HEATED DISCUSSION DID THEY BACK DOWN AND REPAIR IT FOR A $100 DEDUCTIBLE UNDER THE 7/70 DRIVEDRAIN WARRANTY. 2. THE FAILURE, HOW OFTEN IT OCCURS, ITS CONSEQUENCES. SIMPLY USING GOOGLE AND ENTERING "CHRYSLER 2.7L ENGINE FAILURE" LEADS...
I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CHRYSLER 300, WHICH ARE BECOMING MORE COSTLY AND DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF MY PURCHASING A NEW CAR. FIRST, I WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. NEXT, THE RACK AND PINION WENT OUT. THANKFULLY THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW I HAVE TO REPAIR THE OUTER TIE RODS WHEN I HAVE LESS THAN 75,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THIS REPAIR IS $500.00 ON TOP OF WHAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CAR PAYMENT AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE BRAKES RECENTLY HAD TO BE REPLACED (ANOTHER $350.00) AND I AM ALSO BEING PRESENTED WITH ISSUES PERTAINING TO THE OIL PAN (WHICH APPARENTLY IS MADE OF PLASTIC). *TR
