TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 CHRYSLER 200. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT WAS ALTERED BY ANOTHER MOTORIST THAT FLAMES WERE PRESENT UNDERNEATH HER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AS TALL FLAMES ERUPTED UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A TOW YARD. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V043000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A CALL BACK TO DETERMINE IF THEY COULD INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
MY ENGINE HAS CUT OFF NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE TURNING AS I WAS DRIVING. WHEN I TRY TO RESTART THE ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WON'T STAY RUNNING. I HAVE TO LET CAR SIT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES THEN TRY AGAIN & IT STARTS.
I HAVE A 2013 CHRYSLER 200 WITH THE 'PENTASTAR TICK'. A KNOWN PROBLEM TO BE FOUND IN THE 2011 TO 2013 DODGE, JEEP, AND CHRYSLER. THIS ISSUE COMES FROM THE CYLINDER HEAD OR IN MY CASE THE CAMSHAFT ROCKERS AND LIFTERS. THESE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE PENTASTAR ENGINE, TO THE POINT IT HAS RECEIVED THE NAME THE 'PENTASTAR TICK'. A 150,000 MILE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED TOWARD THE CYLINDER, BUT AS FOR THE CAMSHAFT NO EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED. SINCE LESS CONSUMERS ARE AFFECTED BY OR REPORT THE CAMSHAFT ISSUE, FIAT CHRYSLER AUTO FEELS IT IS NOT LIABLE. A PROBLEM THEY KNOW EXIST BUT IF IT APPEARS AT THE END OF THE 5 YEARS/100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND IT DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY LIFE THREATENING ISSUE FOR THE CAR OWNER, THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PENTASTAR ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT CUT OFF SUDDENLY WITH NO WARNING OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO A DEALERSHIP THEY TORE THE ENGINE DOWN AND DISCOVERED CHUNKS OF METAL IN THE OIL PAN AND METAL CLOGGED THE OIL FILTER. THEY DID NOT GIVE ME A CAUSE FOR THE METAL BEING PRESENT. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MORE MONEY IN LABOR TO HAVE THEM DIG IN TO THE ENGINE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT FAILED.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR FOR IT TO RESTART. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE RPMS REVVED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO DRIVE 20 MPH OR THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO MIKE RIEHL'S ROSEVILLE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM WHERE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON APPROXIMATELY SIX OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. 12/22/2017 MY FRONT END STARTED BOUNCING AND SHAKING, ON THE FREEWAY IT GOT REALLY BAD I WAS SCARED AND MY GRANDSONS GOT VERY UPSET AND THOUGHT WE WE GOING TO CRASH. MY VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF/STALL WHILE DRIVING, LOSING SPEED CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN I CAN COUNT. ON RESIDENTIAL STREET, MAIN HIGHWAYS, AND FREEWAYS WHILE DOING SPEEDS UP TO 70MPH. IF I AM ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SAFETY I WOULD ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD CRANK BUT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. AFTER 2HRS THE VEHICLE WOULD START. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY MY CARS ENGINE LOST ALL POWER. LIGHTS STILL WORKED, IT JUST WOULDN'T RUN, I GOT MY CAR BRAND NEW LESS THEN 5 MILES ON IT, IT WONT RUN NOW WONT TURN OVER WONT DO ANYTHING. BOUGHT CARE USED FROM THE DEALER 9 MONTHS AGO AND AT APPROX. 52,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR DECELERATED TO 30MPH AND LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. LUCKILY I COULD PULL OVER AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND WHEN I STOPPED THE ENGINE SHUTTERED VIOLENTLY THEN CUT OFF. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IF IT HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE. HAD TO RESTART THE CAR OVER A DOZEN TIMES TO GET IT HOME. FINALLY GOT IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY HAVE REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND COMPUTER. STILL AT THE SHOP AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. THE BILL IS ALMOST $600 AND I DON'T HAVE A WORKING CAR . AFTER DOING RESEARCH I SEE THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT HAPPENS TO THIS CAR. THIS MOTOR AND OTHERS LIKE IT HAVE A BAD LIFTER IN THEM WHEN BUILT. THESE MOTORS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE BAD LIFTER REPLACED.
SOMETHING ELECTRICAL IS DRAINING MY BATTERY. WHEN I DRIVE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THE ABS, TRACTION, AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I'M IDLE NOTHING HAPPENS. ENGINE STOPPED WHILE WAITING AT RED LIGHT AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. ALL LIGHTS RADIO ECT.. WERE WORKING. CAR HAD GAS. GOT A HOTSHOT, CAR STARTED BACK UP. THE NEXT DAY GO TO START CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START. 2DAYS WORK MISSED. UPSET$?!!

MY HUSBAND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR ME LESS THAN SIX MONTHS AGO, I WENT TO PUT GAS IN IT ON SATURDAY 09/10, GOT OUT AND NOTICED A SWEET BURNING SMELL, THOUGHT IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE'S VEHICLE. I WENT TO A STORE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET GOT OUT AND NOTICED THE SAME SMELL. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, AIR FILTER& PCV VALVE AT 74,516 MILES. IS THIS TYPICAL WITH THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE COST IS 823.19 AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY.

THE VEHICAL WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AS, I TURNED THE KEY TO START THE CAR THE CAR ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE A KNOCK, CLUNKING SOUND AND IT HESITATED TO START. THE ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO BREAK, OR ENGINE DAMAGE HAD OCCURED. THIS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCATIONS WITHIN 6 MONTHS. IN MORE THAN 5 OCCATIONS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY TO SPEED UP, OR TO CHANGE LANES THE VECHICAL ACCELERATING IS STUCK AND KEEPS ACCELERATIMG IN AN UPWARD RHYTHEM. IN ADDITION, THERE IS NO CONTROL OF THE GAS PEDAL DURING TIME THE VEHICAL IS ACCELERATING. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IN THE FAST LANE ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH OUT 3 GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF...THEY ALL COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED HAD HE NOT MANAGE TO COAST THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD...TOOK A TRIP TO TAKE MY GRANDDAUGHTER TO COLLEGE 2 HOURS AWAY AND THE ENGINE AGAIN SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING...BECAUSE OF THIS MALFUNCTION I HAVE TO STOP DRIVING MY CAR AND THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS BECAUSE I AM AFRAID SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO MY FAMILY IF WE CONTINUE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND WE HAVE SIT FOR AT LEAST 1/2 HOUR TO 45 MINUTES BEFORE THE CAR STARTS AGAIN.
ON APPROXIMATELY 7/14/15, UPON ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, MY CHRYSLER 200 HESITATED ON TAKE OFF. I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND SLOWLY TRY ACCELERATING AGAIN, STILL WITH HESITATION, BUT FINALLY TAKING OFF. THERE WAS SLIGHT HESITATION AS MY VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING, THEN THE FUEL SEEMED TO CATCH UP. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES RANDOMLY SINCE 7/14/15. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/23/15 AS IT IS STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY, EXPLAINED THE SITUATION, AND THEY SAID THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS, THAT "NO CODES" SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO EFFECT THE ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM AND SPEED CONTROL. I WAS VERY CONCERNED EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED OF BEING INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT. I WILL CONTINUE TO BE CONCERNED UNTIL THIS PROBLEMS IS RESOLVED. I INTEND TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM.

ON OCTOBER 28TH, 2014 I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR WITH COMPLAINTS OF ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE ALARM WAS PERFORMING WITH UNPREDICTABLE TENDENCIES AND WAS NOT DISARMING IN ORDER TO ENTER THE CAR. AFTER DRIVING A RENTAL FOR TWO WEEKS THAT CAME OUT OF MY POCKET THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO FIX IT.I WAS FORCED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK KNOWING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED.THE RANDOM ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PROGRESSED AND THE CAR IGNITION BEGAN HAVING SERIOUS ISSUES.
