I'm experiencing an intermittent malfunction of the combination meter (speedometer), as described in NHTSA Recall 25V595. I contacted my local dealer, who confirmed no resolution was available at this time. I contacted Toyota customer care who also confirmed no resolution at this time. They indicated my only option was to seek a Toyota loaner vehicle and then request reimbursement for that expense after returning the car. I received this recall notice from Toyota in November 2025. They indicated on this notice that they estimate the remedy may be available by December 2025. It is now February of 2026 with no remedy identified. As indicated in this recall notice, driving my vehicle without a functioning instrument panel is unsafe - "increased risk of crash or injury" Per the last paragraph in the notice, I am filing my complaint with NHTSA because I feel they have failed to provide a remedy to...
There is an active recall on this car with no available remedy. Upon starting the car, the instrument panel/instrument cluster screen remains completely black and doesn't turn on. This means there is no way to see: (a) speedometer, (b) odometer, (c) tire pressure, (d) available fuel range, (e) available EV range, (f) check engine lights or other emergency alerts, (g) lane assist, (h) drive menu settings, (i) temperature outside, (j) what gear the car is in, (k) whether the car is in EV mode or HV mode, (l) average fuel economy, (m) whether the parking break is engaged, (n) whether all seatbelts are fastened, (o) whether any doors or trunk is open, (p) battery status, and (q) oil status. To be clear, Toyota is well aware of this issue and has sent out the recall notice. Upon taking my car to the dealership, they confirmed that this is the active...
I own a 2023 Toyota RAV4 XSE that currently has an active safety recall related to the instrument cluster/speedometer display going blank. My vehicle is experiencing this issue — the speedometer/instrument screen has gone completely blank, preventing me from seeing my speed, warning lights, or critical vehicle information while driving. I contacted my Toyota dealership and was informed that this is a known recall issue and that I should contact Toyota Customer Care. Toyota Customer Care confirmed there is currently no repair or fix available for this recall and advised me to obtain a loaner vehicle through the dealership due to the safety concern. When I contacted the dealership again, they stated they have no loaner vehicles available and could not provide alternative transportation. As a result, I am left with a vehicle that may be unsafe to operate due to the lack of a functioning speedometer and safety warning...
I purchased a new 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime on March 30, 2023. During the summer of 2025, the vehicle's instrument panel began to fail and by October it completely failed. This component is digital and when it fails, drivers have no access to a vehicle's speed, fuel, temperature and other important matters. The failure is the subject of a Safety Recall issued in September of 2025, because the lack of access to this information can lead to accidents. I took my car to my dealer on October 15, 2025 and learned they expected to have a repair available by December of 2025. I left my car with the dealer, as it was deemed unsafe to drive, and was given a loaner car. By December, it became clear that Toyota could not fix my car. I filed a claim with Toyota USA (the brand, not the dealership) requesting they either a)...
The digital instrument cluster display failed completely while the vehicle was in operation. The speedometer, warning indicators, and safety alerts were not visible, making it unsafe to drive due to inability to monitor speed or receive critical warnings. There were no prior warning messages before the failure occurred. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Toyota dealer, Toyota of Temecula, who confirmed instrument cluster failure. The vehicle has been out of service since November 25, 2025. The dealership has ordered a replacement instrument cluster, but the current estimated availability is May 2026. The vehicle remains unusable due to the safety risk created by the failed display.
Recall 25TB08 is affecting the vehicle. Driver display is dead, will not display. No speedometer, no fuel quantity, no battery level, no tire pressure or engine check lights, etc. Toyota does not have a fix and dealer I purchased the vehicle from will not repair/replace defective components.
The dashboard screen (which shows all data, including speed, gas, charge, etc) has been completely blank/black regularly and will stay that way for days. There is no way to know how fast we are going, how much charge the car has, if there are engine issues, etc. This has been happening for a few months now. The car has not yet been to the dealer to be seen but will be soon. I found many reports of this same thing in the same models and years on reddit and other places on the internet.

The contact had not experienced a failure.
The digital display (including speedometer, fuel gauge, warning systems, odometer, and speedometer) remains blank for extended periods of time, at least once greater than 30min, while driving. Manufacturer recall in effect for greater then 4 months with no fix identified.
I am reporting an unresolved safety defect involving the 12.3-inch instrument panel display on my Toyota RAV4 Prime, which is the subject of NHTSA Recall 25V595 (Manufacturer Recall 25TB08). The defect affects the LED digital display that provides critical driver information, including vehicle speed, warning indicators, and operating status. Initially, the display would intermittently go blank at startup and sometimes return during the drive. However, the condition has progressively worsened. The instrument panel display has now been completely blank and unresponsive for over three consecutive days and has not returned at all, including after multiple drive cycles. As a result, the vehicle cannot display critical operating information or malfunction indicators. This issue was first reported to an authorized Toyota dealer in August, prior to the recall being issued. At that time, I was informed that I would be responsible for replacing the entire display/instrument system at my own expense. On...
My car's instrumental panel display (aka combination meter) went blank. This has been described in the NHTSA recall# 25V595, but no remedy is available at this time. It will not come back by restarting the car or disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. The dealership tried to reset the ECU multiple times, but that did not bring back the display. The dealership has not provided me with a loaner car. I cannot see the vehicle's speed and remaining gas, or if any doors are not shut. This makes operation of the vehicle unsafe. I respectfully request increasing the severity of the recall to Do Not Drive. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Vehicle: 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime Plug-In Hybrid Component/System: Digital instrument cluster / dashboard display Description of the problem: The digital instrument cluster intermittently and unpredictably goes completely blank while the vehicle is being driven. When this occurs, all dashboard information is lost, including vehicle speed, fuel and battery level, warning indicators, cruise control status, and tire pressure information. The screen remains entirely black and provides no information to the driver. Safety risk: This failure makes the vehicle unsafe to operate. The driver cannot see speed or critical warning information, and multiple safety features become functionally disabled due to the lack of display feedback. The screen has gone black while driving, which significantly increases the risk of an accident and poses a serious safety hazard to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. Timeline and progression: The issue first occurred in October 2024. Initially, it happened infrequently (about once per...
Instrument panel is blank on start up. Unable to see speed, fuel state or any other information normally displayed. No associated warning messages. Car has been at dealers for over 30 days for repair. No remedy identified.
The contact owns a 2023 Toyota Rav4 Prime. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable and intermittently turned on and off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred and that the instrument panel failed to operate. The dealer was contacted again and informed the contact that the vehicle was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V595000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, and the dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.
The digital instrument panel in front of the driver is blank and will not turn on. This happens intermittently at start up for up to an hour after starting the car. This causes the driver to not see alerts/warnings, current speed, tire pressure, gas gauge levels, etc. When contacting two Toyota dealerships and Toyota corporate, I was told that there is no remedy and that I essentially cannot do anything until they find a remedy. Toyota has left me with an undrivable car with no solution to the problem.
Display screen goes blank it has happened numerous times and dealer refuses to repair. Without the display I am unable to see the speed Or any other dashboard guages.
The digital dashboard (instrument cluster)on my 2023 Toyota RAV4 Prime, suddenly went completely black. This included the speedometer, warning lights, fuel gauge, and all other driver information. I was unable to monitor my speed, vehicle status, or receive safety alerts — a serious risk while operating the vehicle. I have not authorized repairs yet. I brought the issue to Toyota’s attention, but since the vehicle is out of warranty and over the mileage limit, the dealership is requiring a $200 diagnostic fee just to evaluate the problem. There has been no formal decision from Toyota yet on whether they will cover the cost. After researching online, I discovered that numerous other owners of 2023 RAV4 Prime vehicles are experiencing this same dashboard blackout issue, suggesting a broader defect. This is not a result of wear and tear, and it directly impacts safe operation of the vehicle. I am submitting this...
Our dashboard has gone completely blank. This means we can’t track speed, charge and fuel remaining, and other important aspects of the car’s health.
The primary instrument display started to go out when it was cold, below 50'F. This could be mitigated by running the engine or running the defrost for a period of time to warm up the area around the display. When it was too cold this winter, that was no longer effective and the display would not come on at all. The car would drive and all of the instruments displayed on the screen would work (cruise control, etc.), but there was no way to know how fast I was going and if there were any warning lights illuminated. Running the car long enough without the display until the environment warmed, the display would come on, showing the animated start up sequence, then showing whatever speed and other car conditions were current. It took three tries for the dealership to finally see this issue, because they would put the car in...
