Codes: P2002, P242F, P2463, P1451 Failures: DPF, Charge air cooler leak, PM sensors, EGR internally cracked, Catalytic Convertor, Pink tinged oil, strong diesel odor in oil - post failures. Erratic def gauge readings, unstable idling, clunking downshift when exhaust brake decelerates, warm up stumbling. Power reduced, see dealer (over and over and over and over). Limp Mode (5 MPH). Permanent ticks/taps from front left motor, front passenger wheel well, passenger side mid-truck. Extremely loose gear shifter plus an occasional “Vehicle Not in Part” message on the dash display. Manufacturers Service Center (local and ONLY Ram dealership) has reproduced the issue. Independent Diesel Mechanic shop also reproduced. Service center and Independent shop both inspected. The safety issues of a 5 MPH limp mode and risk of sudden engine stalls while driving in traffic, especially on an interstate should be fairly self explanatory… As is a constant “Power Reduced See Dealer” problem,...
While driving Down a paved roadway on 6/30/23 @ 5pm doing approximately 20 miles per hour the vehicle died and the dash lite up with every single message possible such as 4WD inactive, oil change due, fuel filter service required and etc. Attempted to restart the vehicle for about 25 minutes when another citizen noticed we were having issues with the vehicle so they stopped to assist us. The citizen towed my vehicle to location we were staying at for the weekend and upon arrival to the location I disconnected both battery terminals to allow the computer modules to drain/reset. After allowing the batteries to be disconnected for several hours I hooked them back up and tried starting the vehicle and was unsuccessful getting it to restart. I disconnected the batteries again for the night and returned the next morning to hook them up. after hooking the batteries back up,...
My check engine light went on, along with the DEF warning, early June 13th,2023. The DEF warning stated I had 150 miles to get the Track to a Dealer. After Dealer evaluation, I was told the truck had DEF contamination, from ,Diesel Fuel. I asked how this could happen? I was not given an explanation. To me this is a DEF Pump failure. The DEF Pump did not have enough PSI to inject DEF into the Diesel Fuel, so the Diesel Fuel back flowed into the DEF system. Additional facts, my Truck warranty expired 5/15/2023. My truck has less than 36,000 miles. I had the High Pressure Fuel pump, Recalled fixed in May 2023. I was told this repair did not lead to this issue. The Repair bill is over $3700 for this repair.
My high pressure fuel pump went out while I was towing the 43 ft enclosed trailer causing the engine to shut down. I was able to get it home and onto a car hauling trailer took it to a dealership and confirmed the high pressure fuel pump was the culprit they informed me that they would not perform the safety recall because of a modification to the vehicle which has no bearing on the safety issues at hand I contacted FCA they encouraged me to take it to a different dealership which I did. I had to pay a tow truck to haul it to another dealership in which they told me they would do the recall however when they put my VIN number in their system my pickup had been blacklisted by the parent company Chrysler saying do not work on this vehicle for safety recalls. I at this...
As of today, manufacturer/dealers have failed to comply with repairs based on national recalls. On several appointments, the parts are never received. Manufacturer and dealers are not complying with mandated recalls. Please take action!
Y78 Recall. The recall for the CP4 pump has been issued. Ive been on the dealership waitlist since the recall became available. My truck began to have rough idling and surging which it never had before. I called the dealer to ask a timeframe for when the recall would be completed, they advised me that they were no longer receiving pumps for the recall and had not received any in a few months. The lady in service advised me if I was that concerned for pump failure to try and source a pump conversion kit myself and submit for reimbursement afterwards (which I did). I submitted copies of receipts from both the retailer I ordered from as well as credit card statements showing proof of purchase which FCA required per their email. However, FCA has denied my request for reimbursement of parts. I have been in communication with them via email...
0N 4/4/2022 while traveling on interstate 64 E in WV ,towing an R V camper , no warning signals on the dash screen, my truck started losing power and went completely dead, just missed by a tractor trailer rear ending me, as I rolled off to the side of the road. Iwas towed to the nearest Dodge dealership. When I arrived at the dealership a mechanic came and open the hood, he found diesel leaking and a metal rod of the camshaft sitting on top of the engine, which he stated shot through the engine block. Warranty company doesn't want to tear down engine after I gave approval to investigate issue. This is my work truck and source of income. Four weeks later, I am not getting help from dealership that sold me the truck and warranty. Warranty company is trying to use loop hole to get out of paying. I...
While towing 5th wheel vehicle check engine light came on I was out of state in arizona vehicl then started to stall I canceled my trip checking all fluids headed back to California as I was nowhere near a dealership made a appointment at ram dealer when I got there light went out I talked with technician he said would have to leave it for 3 weeks before they could look at vehicle needless to say I took it home then in early Feb about 3 weeks after the first incident the check engine light came on again made appointment which was 3 weeks away just to check it in shop and a week before they even looked at the issue they found a cracked hose on inter cooler dealer stated vehicle ok well again on March 4 2022 vehicle again has check engine light on I took to auto...
DEF reservoir got low and light came on indicating about 300 miles until truck goes into limp mode 5 MPH. Added 1 gallon of DEF and the guage showed to be in the safe zone. The computer system never registered that fluid was added and truck went into limp mode on the way home. When in limp mode you are unable to move vehicle off the roadway in a safe manner or even drive on any roadway without major risk of getting hit. Truck has to be towed to a dealership to have the computer reset. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. Ironic that first responder and government vehicles with this same engine ect are omitted from the limp mode function due to safety concerns but not the general public.
As I was preparing to travel for the holidays comíng up, I was traveling to Texas to see family. I was driving around 65 mph when suddenly the truck started jerking and slowing down when the gas pedal would not give it power. The car behind slammed the brakes and in order to avoid hitting me had to went the the side of the highway. Before coming to a complete stop the truck a 2020 ram 3500 shut off and will not come off. The tow truck was able to scan the truck and the codes are for low fuel pressure and fuel pump. This was a very scary situation because I’m with all my family and not only did I put them in danger by this truck failing with out a notice of any kind but also put others like the vehicle behind in danger because the truck failed....
I was on my way home from the local RAM Dealer last night, where I wanted to sell my truck (after inspecting it, they offered me $82K for it), when, spontaneously, my truck started to smoke from under the hood and literally burst into flames! I had to pull over and jump out to avoid being burned alive! I am so traumatized. I'm attempting to tow what's left of this truck to the dealer this morning. I hope FCA will take responsibility for this!
I was driving my truck towing a fifth wheel trailer weighing over 10,000 pounds on a rural state highway in Missouri with many hills, curves, and little to no shoulders. As I was traveling on a downhill slope at approximately 60mph my engine abruptly died with no warning, causing an immediate loss of power steering, power brakes, and engine brake. I began applying heavy pressure to the brakes slowing the vehicle and began looking for a side road to pull into. I came upon a driveway with an open gate into a field. With much manual force to the steering wheel and brakes I was able to guide the truck and trailer off of the highway into the field to a stop. I was fortunate to not have anyone stopping in front of me as I am certain I would not have been able to avoid a crash with the...
Truck was with high pressure pump issues, spent $2600 in rental truck, $400 i. Towing truck and about one month with no truck, Chrysler still doesn't want to pay me back, this is my second truck with same issue, previous truck was a 2019 3500 ram having the same problem when truck was with only 4,000 miles on it. Now they repaired my truck but now i feel like my truck lose already torque, is using more diesel and more DEF.
I was towing a light trailer (4000 lbs) on I-5 in Oregon on 10/22 when I slowed from ~58 mph to about 45 mph to allow a hasty SUV to merge from the right. When I tried to resume speed the truck seemed "stuck" at 45mph for quite some time. I gave it full throttle and it didn't accelerate. I tapped the brakes, turned off cruise control and it felt like there was no power at all, like it was freewheeling. Finally the motor 'caught' and it accelerated to highway speed. I looked for the problem online and believe this may be related to the CP4 fuel pump issues. Is it safe to continue driving or should I take the truck to a dealer or what? There is no recall yet and I hear the dealership people are telling owners that it is from bad fuel and not covering it!...
At 28,000 miles my vehicle in the middle of the Highway going up a hill stall and suddenly lose boost or was inoperable to safety get out of the road. i was able to do a unsafe maneuvering to get out of the way with the momentum of speed that i have at the moment When this happened a message on my screen said power boost service require, contact your dealer. Later and after the poor customer service in moreno valley ca. And yuma az my local dealer provide., i found out that my fuel pump(cp4) went down, completely destroyed on the inside sending metal particles trough the entire fuel system. 93,000 and again my vehicle went out of service exactly for the same reason(cp4) And now at 135,000 miles my vehicle is down again the reason is idle pulley broke and my serpentine belt got damage at the same time serpentine...
CP4 fuel injection pump and entire fuel system. The original part was replaced by the dealership under warranty. I am 400 miles away from that dealership and the truck has broke down with another suspected CP4 failure and will need a full fuel system replacement again. I do not know if it would be available for inspection upon request. It put my safety and my passenger’s safety at risk as it died while moving on a freeway at night. The problem was confirmed at the first dealership, it is currently pending at the current dealership. The part was inspected at the first dealership that did the warranty work. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The incident date below, mileage, and invoice is from the FIRST incident. The second incident occurred on 10/18/2021 at approximately 101,300 miles and is currently waiting...
The component that failed was the CP4 high pressure fuel pump. Currently the truck is at RAM dealer in Champaign IL. If I need the part, I can ask for it. When the fuel pump failed, the engine quit running and I lost power steering and brakes. I was not in a high traffic area at the time and was able to get the truck w/42 foot 5th wheel travel trailer to side of highway safely. The issue with the fuel pump has been confirmed by Hendershot Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM' Has the vehicle component been inspected by manufacturer? UNKNOWN Just prior to the engine shutting off, the following message appeared on the dash, Exhaust Service Required — See Dealer Now— This message indicates regeneration has been disabled due to a system malfunction.
CP4 High Pressure Fuel pump failed @17,500 miles. I was pulling an 18,500 LB 5th wheel trailer on a 2- lane state highway. Stranded family for 6 hours in 106 degree heat until multiple tow trucks arrived to move both vehicles. 85 miles to nearest dealer. Most expenses covered by Good Sam Platinum coverage. Replacement parts and service covered by Cummins. 35 gallons of diesel NOT replaced by FCA, 5 days lodging and towing expenses denied by FCA. No warning lights or messages prior to failure. No prior issues. 3 identical trucks delivered same day to Redding, CA dealer. Crown Motors with same issue. Blame placed on Low Sulfur diesel mandated by State of CA.
I WAS DRIVING ON I-44 10 PAST MIAMI OKLAHOMA HEADING EAST BOUND AND THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER THE DODGE 3500 2020 HAD 35,000 MILES ON IT HAD IT TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALER IN MIAMI OK THEY SAID THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP EXPLODED
With 20k miles the High-Pressure Fuel Pump blowup in middle of the freeway in NY. This part name is CP4. My truck subtlety stops in freeway in very dangerous situation. My luck is I had a State Patrol few cars back and he help me to safety the area and wait the tow. My truck stays 2 months parked on at Dealer to fix. The reason is they don’t have a new CP4 to replace is because all 2020 diesel Ram trucks had the same problem. 5 months later my CP4 blowup again with 49k miles now my CP4 and my Tank Fuel Pump breakdown in same time. More 2 months to fix.by the way my truck don’t had 9 months old and stay parked on dealer for 4 months. I paid 4 months of car payments and insurance for not use the truck. Other point is my braking pads....
My truck like all 2019-2020 trucks have the plagued CP4 pump that could fail without showing any symptoms. FCA has failed to step up and have ownership and integrity on this issue. I have asked multiple times to RAM Cares and all I have received is cookie cutter answers from them. I do not know if mine will be next to go or ever will go but FCA has a solution in the 2021 HD Ram trucks and that is the CP-ISB21 fuel pump which looks like the old reliable CP3 fuel pump. Companies out have a solution and that is the CP3 swap but it voids the warranty on the vehicle. The warranty is what is holding me back from having the CP3 pump swap done. Can you please pressure FCA to step up have integrity to replace the plagued CP4 fuel pump with the CP-ISB21 pump. I have...
MY 2020 RAM 3500 CUMMINS 6.7 LOST THE INJECTOR PUMP (CP4.2) AND I'M TOLD IT'S ABOUT 15K TO FIX AND WILL TAKE 2 MONTHS TO FIX DUE TO BACK ORDERED PARTS.
I AM ONE OF THE MANY 19-20 HD RAM OWNERS OUT THERE THAT HAVE THE PLAGUED BOSCH CP4 FUEL PUMP. IT IS ESSENTIALLY A TIME BOMB WAITING FOR OFF BECAUSE WHEN IT GOES IT SEND METAL THROUGHOUT THE FUEL SYSTEM MAKING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THAT IS BAD ESPECIALLY THOSE OF US THAT TOW HEAVY. I HAVE ASKED RAM MULTIPLE TIMES ON WHEN THEY PLAN TO HELP US 19-20 OWNERS OUT AND I KEEP GETTING A COOKIE CUTTER ANSWER FROM THEM THAT NOTHING IS IN THE WORKS EVEN THOUGH THE 2021 MODEL HD RAMS HAVE THE RELIABLE CP3 FUEL PUMP AND IT IS A DIRECT SWAP OUT. LUCKILY NOTHING HAS YET HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE BUT I WORRY WHEN I DRIVE TOWING OUR HOME AROUND, FULL TIME LIVING IN AN RV, THAT THE FUEL PUMP WILL GRENADE ITSELF. WHEN THAT FUEL PUMP GOES ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME THE DEALERSHIPS ARE...
I BOUGHT MY TRUCK JUST OVER A MONTH AGO AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO ADD LUBRICANT TO MY FUEL IN ORDER TO KEEP MY FUEL PUMP FROM BLOWING UP, AS WELL AS ONLY PUT IN 'GOOD DIESEL.' I KNOW DIESEL CAN CHANGE FROM ONE GAS STATION TO ANOTHER, BUT TO ADD A LUBRICANT IN ORDER TO KEEP MY FUEL PUMP FROM BLOWING UP ON AND BRAND NEW $80000 TRUCK! ALL BECAUSE OF THE CP4 THAT RAM DECIDED TO USE FOR TWO YEARS, THEN WENT BACK TO THE CP3 IN 2021. THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAVING THEIR PUMPS BLOW UP IN THE FIRST 10000 MILES, BEING LEFT STRANDED FOR MONTHS BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO REDO THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM AT A PRICE TAG OF $17000. I HAVE HAD SURGING ISSUES THAT ARE MAKING ME NERVOUS TO THE POINT THAT I'M WILLING TO TAKE A $10000 LOSS ON MY TRUCK AND...
THE 2019 TO 2020 MODEL YEAR RAM 2500 HEAVY DUTY EQUIPPED WITH A 6.7L CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE HAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A STALL AND INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE BOSCH CP4.2 FUEL INJECTION PUMP HAS A VERY HIGH RATE OF SUDDEN FAILURE LEADING TO IMMEDIATE STOPPAGE ON THE ENGINE AND ENGINE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE PUMP DESTROYS ITSELF AND TAKES OUT THE REST OF THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM LEADING TO REPAIRS IN THE $20,000 USD RANGE. FCA & RAM HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REVISE THE PUMP IN LATE (JULY) 2020 TO SOLVE THE ISSUE BUT THE FAILURES KEEP OCCURRING. FOR THE 2021 MODEL YEAR, FCA & RAM HAVE CHANGED THE PUMP ENTIRELY AND REVERTED BACK TO USING AN OLDER, SAFER, MORE RELIABLE DESIGN. NO PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS OF NEITHER THE PUMP REVISION IN 2020, NOR THE PUMP CHANGE IN 2021 HAVE BEEN MADE. THE ISSUE IS SO...

I BOUGHT MY TRUCK IN TAMPA, FL IN AUGUST WITH 23K MILES TRUCK HAS 30K NOW I WAS DRIVING THANKSGIVING MORNING AFTER FILLING TANK OFF IN A TRUSTED GAS STATION THAT I FILL ALL MY 3 TRUCKS 2016, 2018, 2020 RAM 3500. I DROVE ABOUT 35 MILES AND TRUCK STARTED TO DECELERATE LOST POWER WITHIN 2 MILES AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND NEVER STARTED AGAIN I TOOK TO THE ARRIGO DODGE TAMARAC DEALER AND AFTER 6 DAYS THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT FUEL HAS REGULAR GAS IN IT BECAUSE THEY NEVER HAS SEEN THIS TO HAPPENED BEFORE. THEY SAID THE ONLY WAS FUEL PUMP EXPLODE IS THAT LACKS OF LUBRICATION. THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT ARE THEY SAYING I HAD MY FATHER IN LAW ASK THE MECHANIC TO GIVE A SAMPLE OF THE DIESEL AND AFTER MECHANIC GIVING ALL BUNCH OF EXCUSES FINALLY WE GOT A SAMPLE. I HAVE BEEN...
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 270 NB WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND LOST POWER. I HAD TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE AND WAS TOWED TO THE EXIT BY THE HIGHWAY RESPONSE TEAM. TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE THE FUEL SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED.
I WAS TOWING MY 5TH WHEEL TRAILER FROM RANCHO CUCAMONGA TO SAN DIEGO. WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON I-15, ALMOST NEARBY EXIT 15. SUDDENLY THERE IS A ERROR ON THE SCREEN , SAID 'EXHAUST BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED , ASK ME GO TO DEALER'. THEN I FOUND THERE IS NO POWER ANYMORE . I TRIED TO PRESS THE PEDAL AGAIN , STILL NO POWER. THEN I ROLLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. WHEN THE SPEED CAME DOWN TO ABOUT 15MPH, THE ENGINE STOPPED. THEN I POOLED OVER , AND TRIED TO RESTART IT . NOTHING HAPPENED. I CAN HEAR IT TRYING TO START, BUT NO START ANYMORE. THEN I CALLED ROADSIDE DEPARTMENT TO TOW MY TRUCK AND TRAILER AWAY . IT TOOK 6 HOURS TO FIND THE TOW COMPANY, BUT STILL DIDN'T COME. THEN I PAID THE TOW COMPANY, THEN THEY CAME TO SAVE ME AND TOW MY TRUCK...
I PURCHASED A KNEW 20 RAM 3500 AND ALL THOUGH I HAVEN'T HAD THE ISSUE HAPPEN TO ME YET, I'M A NERVOUS WRECK THAT IT WILL AND MY FAMILY AND I WILL BE STRANDED. THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE FAIRLY NEW CP4 FUEL PUMP. WHEN THIS GOES, IT TAKES OUT THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM RESULTING IN $17,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. WHAT'S WORSE IS THAT YOUR STRANDED ,WITH OUT A VEHICLE. DEALERSHIPS ARE ONLY DOING A LIMITED AMOUNT OF LOANERS BUT NOT A VEHICLE EQUAL TO WHAT YOU HAD. SOME HAVE WAITED FOR MONTHS AND FCA DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE DOING ANYTHING TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES. SOME OF US TRAVEL HUNDREDS OF MILES AT A TIME WITH AN RV IN TOW THAT IS A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF WEIGHT. QUITE OFTEN WHEN YOU TRAVEL, THERE IS NOTHING AROUND OR PLACE TO COAST...
