On 10/10/25, I lost drive power after the OTA Uconnect update. On my drive, I abruptly had absolutely no acceleration, the gear indicator on the dash started flashing, the power mode indicator disappeared, an alert said shift into park and press the brake + start button, and the check engine light and red wrench lights came on. I was still able to steer and brake with power steering and brakes for maybe 30 seconds before those went out too. This happened in the middle on an intersection which was terrifying. After putting it into park and pressing the brake and start button it started back up and I could drive it normally for a little bit, but it happened two more times on my 1.5 mi drive home. I called AAA to tow it to the dealership (Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Millbury, 2 Latti Farm Road)....

Saturday morning, approx 10:00 am vehicle screen showed it was updated U-Conn (not sure exactly) when update finished vehicle lost power while driving (*Note 4xe Hybrid electric Jeep in hybrid mode). Every light on instrument cluster lit up. I was able to coast to the side of the road and park. The display said to place vehicle in park and hit start. I was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle would drive for 3-5 minutes and then completely lose electrical power again. This is VERY SCARY to happen while driving, losing power steering, power brakes and being a sitting duck in traffic! When we looked on line, it appears this is an issue with 4xe electric jeeps and many, many people have had the same issue. We were very lucky to have not had a major collision. Jeep needs to be accountable for this safety issue, how many people...

The jeep die while I was driving on CR530. Check engine light came on and stuff flashed I quickly pulled over rto the shoulder. After ten minutes I was able to drive it into a dunkin donut shop but it turned off three times risking my life each time. I had my hazard lights on but people dont care. Called dealership and waited for the jeep to be towed

Complete loss of power in vehicle after an update.

Car flashed “Shift to Park”, stalled in an intersection and now check engine light is on. This is related to Jeep’s ridiculous and unacceptable software issue. Despite a “fix” being allegedly issued by Jeep, this issue still happened today November 14th despite me never accepting their flawed software update. This is an ALARMING safety issue.

I was driving my car and came to a near stop. when I attempted to drive the car again the vehicle displayed a message to shift to park and then restart the vehicle. I did that and was able to drive another 30 miles home. The next day, I drove the car 20 miles to get an oil change. When I drove a mile away from the oil change location the car displayed a shift to park and restart message again. After that, I was able to drive the car 20 miles home. About an hour later, I drove 1/2 mile up the road and the car again displayed a shift to park message and restart as I was driving up to 50 mph on the highway. I was able to get the car home, but the message displayed again twice. The car shuts off if you do not follow...

Installed a mandatory update to car electronics on Friday night (Oct. 10, 2025). The car -- an 8-month-old Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe 2024 -- literally died while driving on a local highway at highway speeds. All warning lights lit up. Then the car just died... Had it towed to the local dealership where 4 other people already were being processed with the same problem. Two others walked in while I was there. Dealership provided "Jeep Care" phone number but the office was closed over the weekend. Spent a weekend without a vehicle and contacted them on Monday at ~5:30 a.m. Pacific time. Spent almost an hour on the phone. (Phone call recorded.) was told that someone will contact us within 24 hrs to assist with vehicle rental/replacement while the issue is being resolved. It is Tuesday, Oct.14, 2025, afternoon. Spent multiple hours (!) on hold with "Jeep Care." No one...

The 4xe system had a software update that ran and caused sudden lost of power. Vehicle has been at the dealership since September 15th and should be available for inspection. Upon completion of the update, the vehicle turned off and came to a quick stop. The vehicle did restart and while driving it, it died again. Second time it turned off, I was not able to move it from the traffic lane. Driving east in the morning facing the rising sun on a 55 MPH road. Yes, it was duplicated at the dealership after they thought it was repaired. Vehicle has been inspected by a Mopar Representative. No indication of complete loss of vehicle power and this occurred on September 15th.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway at 60mph. The car turned itself off, I lost power steering and brakes and drove into a drainage culvert after almost hitting several cars. The vehicle would not restart initially and I had to wait 5 minutes before it started back up. It died 3 more times with in 1 mile before I made it to a safe area to park the vehicle. There was no warning before this happened.

Completed OTA update previous day. Driving the next day 1 mile into the drive the check engine light, went off, a warning on the dash said something about electrical stability system failure, showed a picture of the jeep with red electrical highlighted. The car ran very poorly, could not accelerate and the car slowed from 35 to 15. During this time the car flashed instructions to put the car in park. After about 1/2 mile I slowed to stop and put the Jeep in park. Restarted by pushing holding brake and pushing start button. Ran well for 10 + miles, then same thing happend again. The Jeep flashed engine warning light, dings and lights flashing. Had to into the left turn lane and came to stop at the stop light. Put the Jeep in park again, tried to restart but this time it did not restart. The gear stuck in...

While driving on the road the vehicle suddenly loses power and shuts down. The check engine light illuminates and a message saying shift to park appears on the dashboard. You have no control of speed at this point. The vehicle stops and stalls in the middle of the road. Once you shift to park you have to completely shut off the vehicle while in the middle of the road and restart the engine. The vehicle will drive a few hundred feet and repeat the stall. It is completely scary and dangerous.

A serious safety issue that occurred earlier today. While driving with my family on the highway, my 2024 Wrangler 4xe suddenly shut down completely without warning. I was fortunate to pull over safely, but it could have resulted in a serious accident. A complete shutdown with no warning is extremely dangerous and there was no recall.

In early October 2025 (specifically around October 10), Jeep/Stellantis pushed an over-the-air (OTA) software update via Uconnect to 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe models. This update, intended for system improvements or recalls (e.g., related to hybrid battery management or telematics), instead caused widespread failures in the vehicle's computer systems, particularly the telematics control module (TCM) and powertrain control module (PCM). After the update I experienced the following. - Sudden loss of motive power while driving (e.g., the vehicle shutting off mid-drive, refusing to accelerate, or entering limp mode). - Check Engine Light (CEL) illumination. - Inability to shift gears or recognize transmission states, rendering the vehicle undrivable. - Vehicle stalling multiple times in short distances, leading to to the need for a tow. In my instance I was on a two lane road with no shoulder and no way to drive my vehicle. I was able to move to a parking...

10 minutes after a software update. My vehicle lost propulsion and would engage a gear unless the vehicle was shut off/on and would repeat the loss after less than a half mile. Vehicle was towed to dealer.

I performed a software update on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler as prompted by the Uconnect system. Immediately after performing that update the next time I turned the car on the engine completely shut off, and the dashboard blinked shift to park and then drive. The engine continued intermittently, completely shutting off while driving. It became clear after an online search that this was a common issue happening to Jeep Wrangler users who had performed this software update. This was terrifying. Supposedly there is a fix in the form of a new software update, being pushed out, but I have not been able to power cycle. The vehicle into performing that software update to fix the car.

When driving at full speed vehicle shuts off and says to put into park. You cannot accelerate. Warning lights come on saying Antilock system failure, Hybrid system issues along with many other lights. You can be going 70 and it just turns off. We were driving from Sandusky Ohio home to Indiana and this happened. Our safety was put at risk fue to being on highways and out of nowhere our vehicle would lose acceleration and you would have to pull over and restart the car.
#11693026 |
This morning my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe check engine light came on and had a loss of power. I had to pull over onto a highway to restart the vehicle. The dealership stated that there was an over the air update that was faulty and that they had no way to fix it, but they stated to bring it into the dealership service department even though vehicle is currently not drivable or unsafe to operate.

11-Oct-2025 - Made it about 1/2 Mile on eSave mode @ about 5-6pm. Engine shut down and lost all power going approximately 40mph of Dr. Braley Road in Freetown. Controlled vehicle until it stopper at the stop sign at the corner of Roundsville road and put the car in park and restarted the engine. With eSave mode made it about 1/4 of a mile back towards home before it started again and had to repeat the process of stopping putting the car in park and restarting. Used electric mode to get home. 12-Oct-2025 - Attempted again on Sunday and got about 1/4 of a mile before the problem happened again. Service Electronic Stability Control message popped up this time along with e-Save Mode Temporarily Unavailable, followed by Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable. Limped home again as the car would not go over 15 MPH with it floored.

The car updated with the latest uConnect on Friday night. The next morning car drove fine for about .5 miles, the drive gear selector on the screen started to flash with no power to the car. The car had stopped accelerating in heavy traffic with no where to pull over on the side of the road. Performed same issues 3 times, after the third time the car went into limp mode. Had to be towed to dealer, it is currently in service on limp mode with no next steps

Loss of motive power. During normal operation, the vehicle suddenly loses a drive power and prompts user to shift into park and push the break before ignition. To reset, I had to stop the vehicle, shift into park and restart. This behavior repeated 4-5 times in an 2 mile trip. The dangerously degraded performance described above was preceded by an OTA software update on 10/11/2025.

I was driving the jeep in my neighborhood when the dashboard flickered and it told me to put the vehicle in park and press the "start" button (same message it would give when you get in the car and get ready to start it, except it was already running and I was driving). Vehicle seemed to lose some power assist features like steering. I wasn't going fast, so it was hard to tell exactly what switched off, but the brakes felt stiff as well. I was able to stop the Jeep, turned it off, and then back on... which *seemed* to resolve the issue but then I had a check engine light on. I have a small diagnostic tool so I plugged it in and it give me 3 codes about control modules experiencing an "improper wake up" (whatever that means). Thankful I was not on the interstate at highway...

A recent computer upgrade was requested via the jeep computer system and initiated. The next day, while driving, the jeep kept losing power and the engine shut off multiple times. The check engine light went on after the loss of power but not before. There were no symptoms prior to the malfunction nor prior to the update that was initiated the night before. This was especially dangerous while highway driving. The jeep was brought to the dealership service department. The dealership service department stated they can not touch the jeep for this item until a fix is initiated by Stellantis.

The car stalled completely (‘Bricked’) while driving at approx 30mph. Everything cut off, power, steering, braked and the vehicle came to a stop in the road. I put the car in park and restarted it but the engine light has been on ever since. I took it to Jeep who told me to keep driving it unless it got worse and to call back in two days as they had a garage full of jeeps with the same problem.

other the air update on 10/10/2025 resulted in forced stalling of vehicle while in motion

As I was driving on the local road, the speed dropped to 0 mph and could not accelerate. The jeep shuts down in the middle of road. Put it back in the Park mode, restart, all lights including engine lights were ON. Drove another 100 ft and stop again and repeat the whole process. I was luckily within 2 miles of my home and was able to drag this back to home in 20 minutes with 5-7 stops. The other cars were honking and flashing as I keep stopping every 200 ft with no warning. Not sure if this is software issue as a lot of people are posting on facebook and other Jeep forums of having same problem between Friday 10/10/2025 and now. I towed the car back to the dealership on 10/13/25 and have no vehicle to drive for now.

Driving my JEEP on [XXX] and while attempting to turn at a busy intersection in Colonia, NJ the JEEP stopped while flashing the check engine light and put in park message. Both kids were in the JEEP which needless to say made the situation even more dangerous. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jeep lunched an OTA update on Friday October 10, 2025 in the afternoon (Los Angeles time area). I did the update when I came home and the next day when I started driving the car it abruptly stopped, signals were blinking including the engine system one and it was stating that I was experiencing an electric issue. It was also asking me to put the car in parking mode and I needed to shut off and restart the car to gain power again but it was stopping really quickly after again. I also have videos that I could not upload here if necessary to show exaclty what is happening.

The incident happened between October 10 and 13, 2025. Updating the Jeep Uconnect and software. It was a long weekend for me, so I decided to take my family, my wife, and two kids to the sand dunes at Pismo Beach. Luckily, I tried to avoid updating on Friday night because of a Facebook post from other Jeep Wrangler owners from 2024. A long weekend of supposed fun and activities turned into a nightmare Sunday afternoon when it updated over the air through Uconnect. Every 7 to 10 minutes of driving, the Jeep began to stall. It's okay now that it's October 13, 2025, Monday, but a long weekend of fun turned into a scary and nerve-racking situation, so I had to use another car to move on and do errands.

The Jeep turns off at random times that I have to coast to a stop, put it in park, and then try and restart it again. That’s dangerous going down a highway and the Jeep to completely lose power and shut off or going through an intersection and having the Jeep shut off.
#11693084 |
After the update it did, it will only drive like 20 feet. We lost acceleration and power in the middle of a busy road numerous times. Had to restart the vehicle every time. Severe safety issue, we had to coast into an intersection through a red light because we couldn’t stop because the engine kept stalling.

Car engine light appeared after a recent uconnect update. Shortly thereafter the car randomly shut down while driving. It results in a flashing light stating to put the car in park and press on the brake to restart. It restarts no problem but randomly shuts down again with the same messaging. It shut down 4 times in less than 3 miles and is a major safety issue. You have no acceleration but can brake. It is extremely dangerous when it occurs as i was pulling into traffic when this occurred. My model is a 2024 and has no open safety recalls as I was informed that the previous unconnect update issue was not a factor for my vehicle.

The jeep lost power after only driving abojt a mile down the road. all the lights came on the dash and I had to pull over until it came to a slow stop, the brakes didn’t seem like they working. Once in park I got a dash light that said Service Charging System. I was not able to move it out of park to even neutral. After about 15 minutes I was able to get it to start and drove it home about 1 mile- it did the same thing. When it restarted the check engine light is on.

While driving, all of the lights started flashing and was told to shift into park right away and the car stopped and turned off

Vehicle shut down in the middle of driving. Went into limp mode. Then would only run in gas mode at half power.

Engine died while driving

My car stalled 16 times on [XXX] due to unknown issues. The first time happened on [XXX] . Then multiple times driving from the first location to my residence in East Quogue and then to the dealer. The car would be in drive and suddenly stall, saying there was an issue with the hybrid motor. It also had multiple engine errors pop up. The car is only 15 months old. The idea that it would stall on a highway is very dangerous. I had to pull over, put the car in park, and sometimes it would power on. Otherwise it would take two to three attempts to start the car to continue driving. It was an extremely hazardous situation. It looks to be a software update error on behalf of Stellantis. This is really scary and unacceptable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

On [XXX] Jeep sent out a software update to my car. I did not agree to the update but it obviously updated my vehicle. The next day I went to drive the vehicle and after 1/4 mile the car started flashing the check engine light, it said to put in park and the vehicle died including no braking or steering. It happened three more times before I could get it to a safe place to park. Since it was a Saturday and I was in western North Carolina, there were no Jeep technicians available to help me. I hit SOS on my Jeep and connected to Stellantis. They were having to send a tow truck. I finally read a blog where someone figured out how to rest the uconnect system. ( the one Jeep recommended did not work). It worked and the check engine light came off. However, this was...

As I was driving I lost all power to the vehicle as well as the steering wheel locked. I was able to pull to the side of the road but the back end of my car was hanging out into traffic. The car flashed a message reading to shift into Park which once I did I was able to turn the car off and back on again but the check engine light as well as a symbol of a tool remained up. Upon further investigation I now understood this was all due to an update on the UConnect screen system that was pushed out a day prior and many others had the same effect of their Jeeps completely turning off mid driving. This was extremely dangerous and terrifying as I had zero control over the car. Keeping lucky I am still alive! I do not feel comfortable continuing to drive...

while driving vehicle, the engine light came on, the steering locked up and the car stalled.

A software update was pushed to the vehicle and prompted me to update it when I turned the vehicle off. The next time I drove the vehicle, after about one mile, many warnings lights went off, and the vehicle turned off and was not driveable. The vehicle would not restart. Jeep acknowledged that the software update made the vehicle inoperable.

While driving on the highway, the car just stops. It says to put it in park and turn on the car engine light comes up. A wrench comes on had to be towed to the dealership. Chrysler is very aware of the issue gave us no warning not to drive the cars I couldn’t have been killed. I was driving on the highway on my car just shut down.

Updated the center screen and minutes later, my Wrangler popped and the frontal collision, CEL, Stability Trak lights came on And the truck came to a halt in traffic on a busy street. I shockingly was not hit, and got the truck to the side of the road. And I was able to army crawl the truck to the dealership. The vehicle was grinding gears and the 4xe system was completely inoperable. This was extremely dangerous.

While driving my 2024 4XE, the engine would automatically turn off and the message would display that I needed to pull over put it in park and restart the car. Engine light then popped on after that so I took it to the local auto shop. nothing was coming up on their computer. Decided it was probably just a bit of a fluke. Decided to leave there and head to the grocery store while driving on a main road with multiple cars around my vehicle did it again thank God I was able to manage safely to get the car into a parking lot. Called up our dealership was able to safely get the vehicle to the dealership same day. Engine shut off at least four times and that small 1 hour window of driving.

Jeep over the air update caused my car to shut off completely in the middle of an intersection. I had to come to a complete and violent stop and restart the car. This happened three more times trying to get home - with kids in the car - though thankfully subsequent times were kess precarious because I took side streets and was careful.

After performing hey system update on October 10, 2025. I was driving on a major highway and my car shut down. The press start option was displayed on the dashboard and check engine light turned on. I was unable to accelerate leaving me at risk for accident. After bringing in my car to the dealership I have since learned that this was due to an update that was pushed without proper quality control. This put myself and my children in danger of immediate severe harm.
#11692868 |
Immediately after installing a system update, car shut off/stalled while driving. Attempts to restart and continue driving only resulted in minimal forward progress. Very scary and very dangerous situation to have car just stop functioning while driving.
#11692873 |
After updating software shortly after finished as I was driving home on the turnpike going 70mph my vehicle lost power and I couldn’t accelerate and had to rush to get my vehicle of the road as cars and trucks were flying up to my stalling vehicle at night in a dark area! I felt my life was in danger not knowing what was about to happen next.

On 10/11/25 approximately 9pm my vehicle completed an OTA update initiated by the manufacturer. Upon completion of the update, I went for a drive. At approximately 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off, shifted into neutral, and ceased to operate leaving me stranded in the middle of the road. The vehicle would not start, shift into neutral, or operate in any manner. Several warning instrument lights came on. After about 30 minutes, the vehicle started and continued to loose power several times before I could get it back home. We were lucky that we were not rear ended. There are hundreds of complaints on social media referring to the same situation for other Jeep 4xe vehicles after completing the OTA update. Stellantis has not issued any official statement regarding this. This is a situation that could result in serious injury or death to many as the vehicle suddenly loses all...
