Driving down a street when the Jeep shut down all propulsion systems and sent an error code that the charging system would not work. We moved safely to the side of the road, restarted the Jeep, and drove home with no error lights. The next day, the Jeep threw error codes again upon startup. We took to the dealer who is analyzing.
While driving on highway/freeway at approx 70 mph 2023 Jeep wrangler 4xe suddenly lost power/engine shut down. I coasted safely and pulled over from the fast lane to the right lane of the freeway to the shoulder. Vehicle was able to be restarted and able to be driven. Now at the dealership.
Starting in late February 2024, my new vehicle has had numerous major oil leaks which have not been able to be repaired successfully. Oil has leaked out and pooled on the drivers side of the transmission bell house. Given the oil leaks proximity to the heat from the turbo charger down pipe, exhaust pipe, and various other ignition sources, the vehicle is at an elevated risk for catching on fire. This could result in a accident or serious bodily injury up to death of myself or others. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle. Given the volume of oil leaking from the undercarriage of the vehicle, the vehicle is at an elevated risk for engine seizure from lack of lubrication. This could result in the engine stalling causing an accident or serious bodily injury up to death of myself or others. I no longer feel safe operating this vehicle....
This is the second time this jeep stalls out on us. This most recent time we were traveling on the freeway going about 70mph when all the sudden the jeep’s motor shuts off and is unresponsive. We are literally coasting in the middle of nowhere hoping the vehicle has enough momentum to get out of the way. Something was blinking on the dash but i couldnt pay attention to that as I was trying to pull over safely. Jeep did not start back up until 2 hours of of waiting on freeway. There are a ton of recalls for this vehicle and as it sits right now the plug in for EV port is not working at all. It makes a ton a strange noises. And to top it off this is a rental car that shouldnt be on the streets earning revenue. This jeep needs to be appropriately recalled...
When vehicle is in drive gear, the steering system has a high pitch squeal. It gets louder when the steering wheel is turned. It makes the squealing noise when the tires are straight, when turned a little left or right, and all the way left and right. No warning lights are on or have ever turned on. The engine area also makes a loud tapping noise only when in gear. Loud enough to hear in the cab. I took it to the dealership, after they had it for over 8 hours, I was told all was normal, and even another new model makes the same noises. It must be the new electrical steering system sounds. To have an inspection done, I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment, after I had asked if it was normal and the service manager heard and confirmed, a service mechanic and the lead...
Lost total power in the fast lane on the freeway! Lots of flashing indicators: "Service Charging System", "Brake and Push Button to Start", Transmission Gear "D" flashing with the gear it was in "D and little 8", telling me to put it in Park while I was driving on the freeway trying to get over to the side...how is that even possible?, further it was coming to a stop quickly like a heavy regenerative braking was one making it even more dangerous as we would about to come to a total stop on the freeway! (I read someone in a Tesla died this way). This was dangerous for us and the cars around us. I have read they have a recall for this very issues in Dec 2022, but MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED in the recall so there is a much bigger issue going on! All my recalls are...
I understand this is an ongoing recall, but will the NHTSA get involved to help push for a resolution? I have not had a vehicle since March and according to Jeep, the "fix" is still in an engineering and design phase which could take months/years. There was a class action lawsuit and Jeep asked to have the lawsuit dropped if they did a voluntary recall. Well, now it feels like since they are not under a lawsuit, they can take their time with the recall. Who can help push Jeep into getting this thing done? Thank you.
The jeep will suddenly lose power while driving at highway speed and will lose all speed without any check engine lights or system notifications noted . The vehicle will not maintain speed and will suddenly accelerate after a minute of losing powe . This happens multiple times .The vehicle has been at the dealership and they are unsure of what the problem is .
Yesterday 8/27/23 at 5pm I pulled into a parking lot and then into a parking space. As I came to a stop my Jeep lunged forward into the vehicle that was parked in front of me. At the time my Jeep Wrangler 4XE was operating in Hibrid mode running on electric with 49% charge left. As my Jeep came to a stop the gasoline engine started and the Jeep lunged forward striking the vehicle in front of me pushing it approximately 3 feet back before coming to a stop. This action caused significant damage to the other vehicle and minor damage to my jeep. I believe it was the abrupt start of the gasoline engine that caused the jeep to lunge forward even though my foot was on the brake. This action put me and others at risk, it was fortunate that the othe vehicle was unoccupied. I have contacted...
The contact's daughter owned a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid. The contact stated while his daughter was driving 30 MPH, the vehicle ahead of hers stopped unexpectedly. The contact stated that the daughter slammed on the brakes and swerved to the right; however, the driver's side front end of the vehicle hit the passenger's side rear end of the other vehicle and damaged its taillight. The air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that it was a fender-bender. The contact's daughter then noticed smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. The contact's daughter immediately exited the vehicle and contacted emergency services. The vehicle caught on fire and burned significantly. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. The contact was unsure whether a fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The contact's daughter did not sustain any injury. The vehicle was towed to a tow...
4XE electric mode, while driving on the freeway, the vehicle said Electric Mode Temporarily Not available. The car loss power as I was going 70 MPH and it loss power and slowed to 8mph. The diesel traveling behind us slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting us and he tailspinned and caused a huge accident, all cars behind him had to come to a halt. I had my 2 year old granddaughter in her carseat in the back and my 70 year old mother in the front, we could have been killed. I have over 30 videos of this occurring and the vehicle only has less than 300 miles on it. The two local dealerships said they could not "duplicate" the problem and one told me not to drive in electric mode so, well would would be the purpose of me purchasing a hybrid if I can't use that function....
I was driving on Highway when the dashboard prompted me to park and slow down. I lost power on the engine and have to pull over to the side to restart the engine. I have enough fuel but not EV battery left.
My vehicle suddenly shut down while at freeway speeds on a 5 lane freeway. I could not get the vehicle restarted. There were no warnings to indicate of a potential problem. I experienced an extremely unsafe situation.
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while entering the vehicle, the contact smelled an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was also taken to another dealer, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 2.
I'll start by stating that I currently have two Jeep Wrangler JL models that are identical, a 2020 and the one that I'm contacting you about the 2023. There is a safety issue with the 2023 where the vehicle programming causes the engine to rev itself to around 2,800 RPM's upon a cold start. This is after the engine has warmed up to operating temperature at idle. So the safety complaint is that as I begin to drive the vehicle in a parking lot with pedestrians in it, the vehicle will auto rev while in gear causing excessive and unsafe speeds in that situation. My identical 2020 Jeep Wrangler does not and never has done this. I strongly suspect that this is an emissions compliance programming issue with the software to heat up the catalytic convertor. Whatever their reasoning for doing this it's still an unsafe vehicle feature, one that...
Brand new 2023 wrangler with 600 miles on it that I’ve had for 4 days and the engine completely cut off on the busy highway with my whole family in the car. Message appeared on the screen stating “performance limited, service charging system”. We were eventually able to get the engine on again by turning the car off and on which was incredibly dangerous in the middle of a very busy highway. We are very very lucky that this did not all result in a serious accident
Car just died while driving about 30mph in all electric mode. Charge fault error came on. Loss of steering and brakes. Able to coast to stop. Placed car in e save mode to start engine, was able to get home.
Driving on the freeway my JEEP stalled. It was flashing red tk plug it in. I was driving hybrid on a full tank of gas. A truck almost hit me in this process.
I was driving down the highway around 60 miles an hour and the engine shut off. There was a flashing light on the dash telling me to safely put the car in Park. I had no acceleration and had to get across three lanes coasting until I could safely stop. A light also flashed showing a picture of the plug-in and said something about lack of performance. I cannot remember the exact wording. Once I got to the side of the road, I put the car in park and turned the car off, then turned it back on and was able to drive away. I did notice when I got to the side of the road that the D was flashing on my gearshift. i’ve called the dealership and I’ll be taking it in tomorrow, but they advised they haven’t had this situation before. But someone advise me about a...
I was driving on the highway and as the electric engine ran out of power (it is a plug-in hybrid), the car failed to switch to the gasoline engine. There were warning lights that flashed and the "D" on the gear shifter was flashing. Power steering still worked, but could not accelerate. I was in the far right lane and was able to coast into the breakdown lane where I turned the car off, waited a few second and turned it back on and it was running on the gas engine. I took it to the dealer the next day and they said they tried to recreate it, but the electric engine had not been drained, so I don't believe they had.
On June 17 I was driving on the highway in Tupelo,MS with my sister and three children. I was going about 80 mph when the entire engine shut down spontaneously. The dash lights said plug into a power outlet. I was driving in hybrid mode with a half tank of gas. I briefly lost control of the car because it was such a powerful jolt when it shut down. I was able to pull over to shoulder of the highway, completely terrified and shifted the jeep into park. The warning lights were telling me to put in park and press the start button. I followed the instructions and the jeep engine started and the warning lights turned off. I have contacted Chrysler to file a complaint as well as the dealership. I am afraid the drive my vehicle on the highway for fear of having a major accident
Was driving down the highway, warning lights on the dashboard illuminated. Lost power, engine and electrical power. Message to place Jeep in park came on. Pulled car to shoulder. It would not start for two hours. Tow truck arrived. Jeep would start. Taken to Jeep dealership and nothing was found wrong with it. Same thing happened one week later. I checked ant there is no recall for my specific car
This vehicle was sold unlawfully to me, with an open recall on it. I purchased the brand-new vehicle from Sterling Heights Dodge, Chrysler Jeep New car dealership on 3/23/23. I got at open of business 9am left shortly after 11am with the new car.3/24 The vehicle engine lights came on, RPM's were revved high, engine was making loud noises. I called the dealership to make an appointment with service, I was told I can't bring my car there for service it had to go to Toledo Service Dept Grogan the closest to me. I was told to drive it as is it would be fine. On 3/26 my vehiicle abruptly stopped in heavy traffic with my 5 year old grandson in the backseat. Nothing worked, all power was dead. I have videos of this. I had to get out and motion for traffic to go around us, several time we...

The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased new. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start at first attempt within two weeks of ownership. The contact stated that she was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The check engine warning light and a turtle warning light were illuminated. While on the highway, vehicle engine simply went off without warning. Loss of power and ability to accelerate. Vehicle message indicated to turn off vehicle. Was able to safely pull the vehicle over and turn it off and back on. Brought vehicle to dealer to get checked out and they could "find no issues with the vehicle." Concerned with driving vehicle now as this could happen again.
Was driving my one week old 2023 wrangler Sahara XE. Came to a stop. I started to drive and my engine completely shut down. Rendering me stuck in the middle of a roadway in traffic. The message on the dash read that there was a shut down on my vehicle and stated something about the transmission . There was no warning, the engine just shut down and put itself in park! I have three children.. this is scary . I contacted the dealer and dropped the vehicle off for the day Where it was inspected but no code was found as a fault. I see thousands of other jeeps (XE’s) have the same engine shut down issue. I presented these facts to the dealer. They dated that they can’t do anything without a code! Please help fix this. Too many are experiencing this very real and dangerous issue!
Vehicle shut off at highway speed. Msg was charge fault.
The contact was an attorney who was filing a complaint on behalf of his client, who owned a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while his client was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. The failure caused his client's vehicle to be rear-ended by another vehicle. No air bags were deployed upon impact. The contact's client was transported to the hospital for a brain bleed and neck and back injuries. The client suffered a recurring concussion. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer on three separate occasions because the vehicle failed to start. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V86500 (Engine) however, the VIN was not included in the...

Jeep Wrangler 4xE car engine died for reason unknown while traveling at a steady speed of ~40mph. Dashboard and car lights remained powered on, but the engine suddenly became unresponsive and the car began to coast. An error message appeared on the dashboard display but disappeared before it could be written down. About 5 seconds prior to the engine dying the cruise control, which had been engaged a few minutes earlier, but which was not believed to be active at the time, was toggled. It was a very dangerous situation, but no injuries resulted from this event. Car dealer could not replicate the problem. No error messages found stored on the car computer were found by the dealer. The problem has not occurred again, but the car has not been driven much since the event. Cause of the problem remains unknown.
I was driving approximately 30-35 mph when my vehicle engine no longer would accelerate. On the dashboard, the "D" to signify I was in drive was flashing in red, as opposed to being lit in white as usual. There was another warning light flashing in red, which was a lightning bolt with the characters ) ( around it. My car was dinging an alert sound. I was able to turn my flashers on and coast over to the side of the road. There was a significant safety concern considering I was in a city with cars driving around me, and had they not slowed, may have struck my vehicle because it decelerated so quickly. I attempted to push on the gas to accelerate, and nothing happened. After pulling over, I turned the vehicle off and back on again, and the problem was no longer there. Following this, my engine over-revs...
Engine turned off and vehicle came to an abrupt stop. Battery level showed less than 1% on the 4xe at the time of the stoppage. I was driving about 25 mph when it occurred. Placed the vehicle into park, pressed brakes and restarted vehicle. Went to dealership to complain and they said they could not replicate the problem.
