The start/stop function at times stalls car. Touch screen sometimes switches to other things. On/off and screen switch.
The car burns through oil and at often times is empty, which is not good.
This isn’t the first time it happened, I was about to make a right turn at an intersection and the car suddenly stalled with emergency brake engaged and the funny part is that the car wouldn’t turn off . This car is garbage and it’s drink oil like a monster
When vehicle in park mode it will not start. Seems to be an issue with Start/Stop system. Must place in neutral to start car. Auxiliary and main battery replaced. Seems to be bringing auxiliary battery down
I purchased a 2018 Jeep Compass 4 months ago with around 52,000 miles. The first month went smooth but going into the second month it began having system problems. The Jeep would stall out and turn off in my job parking lot, traffic, and the drive thru line. Seems as if the auto start/stop system would cause the Jeep to shut off so I would always try to disable it after starting the Jeep up. The entire dashboard and display would just flicker and turn off but I could still hear the radio. The windows would lock themselves when I would try to roll them down due to the heat from the hot weather. I would have to keep jumping the battery numerous times even after changing the aux battery. Latest incident (7/21/23) resulted in check engine light code: P1DD2 - “Torque Request Signal from TCM denied”. Check engine light came on - Jeep felt like it was going to stall. For several months now, I’ve had intermittent issues with the Jeep “shifting” on its own while driving without me touching the shifter. I then get an alert that I can’t change gears while driving & I have to pull over to try to resolve the issue. This has happened to me several times but when I’ve reported it, the mechanic / Jeep dealer couldn’t make the issue happen again. In addition, since owning this Jeep, the most I can drive is 3000 miles before needing an oil change. My oil is being “burned through”. Most recently I didn’t even make it 1000 miles after an oil change without losing atleast 2-3 quarts of oil. Not sure why this is...
Stop/Start system We took the car to get it checked out within the first month due to hard shift and for warning light. We were told the warning light for stop/start was on because it needed an update. It came back on within a few months. Then our car battery had died, changed it out, and within maybe 6 months the new one died. We changed out both batteries this last time, and the within a week the stop/start warning came back on. Now it comes on and off sporadically for the last month. So we are clueless about this stop/start and what to do about it.
When stopping at a red light the start/stop system activated and the truck would not restart. There was an alert saying service ecs system and the parking brake activated on its own. It took about 10 minutes for us to be able to deactivate the parking brake and for it to start again. This has happened 2x and only when the start/stop happens. My check engine light has come on and now I'm getting a service engine notification.
We purchased our 2018 Jeep Compass in December 2022, we started having problems with the headlights in January 2023 only 1 month after purchasing it. The headlights stopped working completely. We took the jeep to our local jeep dealership and they couldn't figure out what was going on with the headlights but confirmed it was the electrical system. They called their Electrical Engineer in and it was confirmed it was something going on with the electrical system via the headlamps so we replaced them along with the bulbs and it went again 3 months later. As I was pulling my 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk to a light off the highway exit, the vehicle did its automatic stop the engine function. After about 4 seconds a "high coolant temp, shutdown vehicle" note appeared. The engine turned off and I lost complete control. The car would not move, e-brake engaged automatically, and the vehicle would not restart. 30 minutes later someone came by to jump start the battery and the car started. I was able to drive to a safe location but I am worried this problem will continue. There was no real explanation online and I have read countless accounts of the same problem happening to others, some while driving at high speeds.
Key fob not detected since I bought certified pre-used. There’s an oil consumption issue. There’s a stall issue that completely cut my Jeep off in the middle of rush hour traffic almost causing an accident. I’ve replaced batteries 2x and had to dealer 3x with them unable to reproduce symptoms. They didn’t do the oil consumption test. Just changed oil. This Jeep is a serious hazard!!
This 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude has gone through several repairs already; a lot of them concerning the start/stop system and the battery that powers this feature. In the past 4-5 years, it's been replaced three times. In addition, the engine had to be replaced due to high oil burn. As of recent, the vehicle has started displaying "Stop safely. Vehicle with Shut Off Soon" message; especially during highway cruising. This has posed a highly increased safety risk for my family and there seems to be no way for the dealer to address the problem because they cannot replicate it. When at a stop sign the car auto shut off. After releasing the break, the car would not restart and would not go into park. After a few minutes of panic, I was able to move the gear shifter to park and after several attempts, the car barely restarted. This also happened a previous time at a stop light.

Driving to work and felt like engine locked up. Looked at dashboard and the coolant gauge on left side suddenly spiked and said "Coolant Temperature High." Then 2-3 seconds later the coolant temp gauge went straight back to normal and engine came back on.
Was driving home on the highway and the dash board lights all flashed red then the car would no longer accelerate and the check engine light stayed on. We had a baby in the car and had to pull over using the cars momentum to exit the highway as safely as we could in a dangerous situation. On April 9, 2023, May 19, 2023 June 4, 2023 and today June 7, 2023 as I was driving the car stopped without warning. In both insistence in June I was entering the highway and had to pull over. In the upper right of the dashboard where it states the operation (i.e R for for reserve, d for drive and etc) it changed from "RUN" to "On". I looked down and noticed the emergency parking brake was engaged. I looked at the dashboard and it gave instructions to push and deactivate the parking brakes. A few months after purchase, my hazard lights came on while the vehicle was off and parked in my driveway. I couldn't get them to turn off until I disconnected the battery. I scheduled a diagnostic with the jeep dealership and before I could get it in, it started happening while I was driving it as well. I never know when it's going to happen. At the diagnostics appointment, they told me it's a problem with the electrical system but that they weren't sure exactly what is causing it. They offered to replace two parts at about $1,500 cost to me that "might" keep it from happening again. They wouldn't honor the warranty. While driving the "coolant temperature high" warning message occasionally pops up and it shows that the temperature is as high as it can go on the temperature meter. It will then shut my engine down and not allow me to resume driving until I completely turn my car off and back on again. After turning it back on, my coolant temperature always reads completely normal between 190-200 degrees Fahrenheit. This problem has occurred multiple times including while I have been on the interstate, in the middle of an intersection, and in heavy traffic. While stopped at a red light the vehicle just shut off would not start all the lights on the dash information were illuminated. After several minutes of sitting in traffic vehicle did start. Approximately 15 minutes later the same thing happened while driving in traffic.was sitting in moving traffic very dangerous.Drove directly to Jeep Dealer luckily I have a extended warranty but I had to pay a 100.00 deductible out of my pocket. And was told by Dealer that it is fixed a Hood sensor.
Vehicle has intermittently turned itself off while driving, locks the brake, and will not restart for a few minutes. Causing a serious safety concern as its happened while driving down the interstate. I have taken it to two different repair shops that can not find a cause. Currently the Jeep will not turn all the way on saying electronic brake engaged, but will also not turn off saying the car is not in park.
The touch screen stereo that also houses the back up camera is going out at only 40,000 miles. This controls many functions and randomly stops working and works again. It first started one month ago but is not fully out. It will have lines through the screen then they go away on their own.

Engine light comes on with a warning saying "Stop soon, Vehicle may shut off". A few times that light does not come on but the vehicle applied brakes while driving (5mph) on the road. Felt as if it put the parking brake on by itself. Engine light is still on now constantly saying to pull over. Dealer checked it out and re-grounded some wires but issue is still happening.

Driving 65 MPH on highway - car shut off, high coolant temperature alert on , coolant temperature gauge pegged to top - lasted one second at most. Car seemed to restart itself, alert went away, temperature gauge dropped to normal - car seemed fine. Had I stalled I would have been rear ended for SURE! This happened once before but I was stopped at a light - same scenario.
The auto start stop stopped working. My car overheated in May 2022 which I paid 900 dollars for repair. Also screen went out on Dec 2021. My car is in the shop now because it stopped on the freeway and the hot start/stop stops the car from moving.
On 2/6 I was driving down the road and my coolant tempature went from the middle all the way to high. My car turned off and locked up and then turned back on. This happened again on 2-9 and 2-13. The dealership said the electric, wires, coolant sensor, and coolant system were fine. There were no air bubbles, leaks or gas seeping into the coolant system.
For the second time this week , the emergency brakes have engaged while my vehicle was in motion . Both times in the middle of a busy intersection . The car gives me about 5 seconds to try to get to somewhere safe before it totally cuts off. Luckily both times i was able to put hazards on , get a clear path to the side of the road and fidget with it until it started up again . Terrifying to think that i could lose my life or cause someone else to get seriously injured because my vehicle just STOPS in the middle of driving . Question #1: Power Window Circuit. No voltage found in circuit. The rubber protective cover to the electrical connector of the power window circuit was not fully on. Because of that large amounts of corrosion was discovered on both the body and door harness sides of connector. Extended warranty WILL NOT cover corrosion. Therefore, the consumer is forced to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to fix in order to have drivers side window operate again. Drivers side window will not go up or down. Question #2: Can't operate the drivers side window in case of an emergency. The service tech advisor at the dealership noted that the corrosion could spread to other electrical wirings throughout the vehicle causing the the car to not operate whatsoever. Question #3: Problem was confirmed/reproduced at dealership when vehicle was brought in for inspection. Question #4: No Question #5: No warnings signs whatsoever. Was...
Coolant overflow thruogh the repirator and that coolant drop in the computer of the transmition, and don't let the car star or turn off bucouse ther no comunication, end, and I think is a manufactuere defect
The touch screen continuously goes out flickers with lines across it. The touch is operational, but you can’t see anything. There is no other way to use these functions besides the screen and it is not visible.
After being serviced by my vehicle’s dealership only a month earlier (and still well within the powertrain warranty), my vehicle suddenly stalled and shut off in the middle of the freeway during peak morning traffic. I narrowly escaped being hit by a semi-truck from behind and had to quickly pull over to the side of the freeway as safely as I could. I’ve taken my vehicle to several mechanics who could find nothing wrong with my vehicle, save the open recall on similar models (though not my VIN in particular, which I do believe to be an error) involving an issue with the powertrain and an electrical chip. This vehicle has been thoroughly maintained with regular service intervals, yet somehow will randomly stall and shut off when driving. It is dangerous and discouraging.
The UConnect screen does not display images. You cannot see radio controls, temperature controls, etc. The screen is consistently showing bright white lines across the whole thing which is very distracting when driving at night. The main concern is not being able to use the back up camera. The car has quite a few blind spots, hence the need for a back up camera in order to safely reverse to insure you don’t injure a pedestrian or cause an accident. When I took it to the dealership, they said they’ve had many other cars with the same problem. However they are not figuring out what it is and their solution is instantly just installing a new screen for over $700.
Vehicle warning lights for Service 4wd, ABS and the A! with arrow flashed on. The vehicle lost the ability to accelerate while turning at the stop light. Coasted to side of the road. Powered Vehicle off then back on. Stop/Start error message flashed on screen "start/stop unavailable Service Stop/Start system" Oil and coolant levels are good. Only error message remains is the stop/Start system.
All lights randomly flashed on dash then the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic. This is the third time it has happened, and the dealership had claimed to have fixed it. Just had brand new batteries installed to ensure sufficient voltage, and it still happened. 32k miles.
The auxiliary battery has failed at least 3 times (2018) and been replaced, as well as the main battery. When this happens the car is dead in the water, even the SiriusXM Guardian controls on the rear view mirror do not respond leaving you in dangerous situations. You are unable to contact emergency services for a tow, or emergency vehicles. The dealership said it was faulty batteries but has had to replace them one more time after replacing the ones they say were faulty by manufacturer. The dealership wants additional money for tracing the issue but the car is just out from warranty by a few months. Prior to this, the dealership did not trace to find any shorts and the batteries were confirmed to be malfunctioning. There are no error codes found when this occurs. Dealership has confirmed MANY Jeep Compass have had the batteries replaced.
Drove the vehicle I purchased and the lights on the dash board began to illuminate at 2500 miles. The u connect would go black, the dash lights air bags, emergency break, cruise control, etc would illuminate. The the car would shift out of gear automatically put in park flashing, and die in the middle of the freeway without warning, has happened like 3 times, now I am scared to drive it due to the safety of myself and others. I will be driving and suddenly the car stops. The parking break comes on and the car won't start. Takes awhile to get it restarted. It seems dangerous and as I've googled seems like a problem all across the board not just me.
