CHRYSLER HAS ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH DESIGN AND SENT OUT RECALL (P41/NHTSA 14V-438) IN OCT OF 2014. THEY HAVE NOT DEVELOPED THE PART YET TO FIX THIS RECALL. THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T WANT TO TOUCH IT UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE. THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES CRANK AND SOMETIMES WILL NOT DUE TO THE FAULTY SWITCH. I HAVE CONTACTED AND FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER AND GET THE IMPRESSION THEY ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON THIS RECALL. THEY CLAIM TO BE DEVELOPING THE PART, BUT THAT HAS BEEN 9 MONTHS. WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF GOING DOWN THE ROAD ALL POWER IS LOST INCLUDING POWER TO THE AIRBAGS.

SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP COMMANDER I HAVE EXPERIENCE TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON MANY OCCASIONS. THIS HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 6 MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING IN SPEEDS VARYING FROM 20 - 70 MILES AN HOUR MY CAR WILL LOSE POWER. PRIOR TO LOSING POWER ALL DASH LIGHTS, TACHOMETERS, HAZARDS, WARNING LIGHTS AND PERFORMANCE INDICATORS WILL FLASH REPEATEDLY, VERY QUICKLY. WITHIN MOMENTS OF THE FLASHING LIGHTS MY GAS WILL SHUT OFF, MY BRAKE SYSTEM COMPLETELY FAILS AND MY STEERING WILL COMPLETELY LOCK UP. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF CONTROLLING MY VEHICLE IN ANY MANNER.
