WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF, CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. JEEP DEALER SAID NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, I HAVE BEEN ALMOST INVOLVED IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE ON THE COMPUTER WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM.
TTHE 4.7 ENGINE SUDDENLY QUITS WHILE DRIVING, BOTH AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS.. I HAVE HAD TO PULL INTO BREAKDOWN LANES IF ANY, WITH NO POWERS STEERING, AND AT GREAT RISK COASTING ACROSS LANES TO SAFETY. THE JEEP DEALER IN MY AREA SAID THERENARE NO RECALLS, ALTHOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH THE ENGINE QUITTING. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT, ESPECIALLY IF YOU CANT GET OVER TO A SAFE SPOT.
Original owner of this vehicle. Has 73,000 on 5.7 hemi engine. Engine blew up on 12/25/2022. Only warning was the gauge went to overheat high red. Stopped vehicle, at fuel station and added more anti freeze. Gauge dropped to while normal range. Got back on highway drove 7 miles and enginle like came on and heat gauge went to high red then dropped to nothing. Got vehilcle off the road and it immediately shut down. Engine blew up. Had vehilcle towed to Jeep Dealership 12/26/2022. Need engine replaced at only 73, 000 miles. Chrysler no longer makes this engine and a rebuilt will have to go into this vehicle. No offer or explanation of why this engine blew up with such low mileage. I was left stranded in 5 degree weather for about 45 minutes along interstate trying to get my roadside assistance to help. They couldn't speak understandable english....
Unknown. While my vehicle is set on cruise control and the weather is over 50 degrees or the air is running my cruise control will shut off. Warning lights abs, esp bas, & stability control will come on, then my cruise control won’t work anymore. Now just this morning going up a hill my car wouldn’t go pass 20 mph while my foot was to the floor basically. Then almost to the top of the hill it took off. The rmps went high Jeep shifted to next gear. Of course took my foot off petal and pushed brakes slightly. As slowing down it started shifting hard with high rmps still. I have a jeep commander 2007 limited. According to your recall dates my VIN number doesn’t fall within those dates for my car to have the recall. Although my jeep is completely stallling out while driving 69 mph, I mean loss of all electrical inside my jeep. Power steering fails, engine shuts off, I am lucky enough that my brakes still work but who is to say that won’t happen again. So when looking my VIN number up seeing that this is ONE of the recalls, my VIN number ISNT part of the vehicles that was affected by the recall but I’m still encountering the SAME issue as the recall. INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUE. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I HAVE 2 KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND NEED TO GET TO IMPORTANT APPOINTMENTS. I START MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER, I GET TO WHERE I AM GOING, WHEN I GO TO RESTART MY VEHICLE IT SOMETIMES DOESN'T WANT TO START. IT WILL CRANK OVER JUST REFUSES TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE KEY WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

LINCOLN HWY MERRILLVILLE, IN 46410) AND AN UNKNOWN RELAY SWITCH WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MECHANIC THEN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,700.
UPON STARTING THE ENGINE READS A HIGH IDLE, DRIVE THE JEEP DOWN THE ROAD AND A RED LIGHTNING BOLT APPEARS AND THEN ACROSS THE DASH READS CHECK GAUGES. AT THIS POINT THE COOLANT GAUGE QUITS WORKING. IF SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE JEEP SOMETIMES WON'T START AND WILL SAY TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING EVEN WHEN IT'S NOT. IT WILL SOUND LIKE THE STARTER IS STUCK AND KEEP TRYING TO START UNTIL THE KEY IS REMOVED. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF IT SITTING IT WILL NOW START AND THE GAUGES WILL WORK PROPERLY AND NO WARNING LIGHTS. ALREADY REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR.
WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH OUR JEEP JUST SUDDENLY TURNING OFF. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE OUR KIDS IN THE JEEP WITH US WHEN IT HAPPENS. WE COULD BE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE JEEP WILL JUST SHUT OFF AND WILL NOT SHOW NO PROBLEM CODES. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED AND NO SPEED. WE TURN THE JEEP ON A LET IT WARM UP. ABOUT 2 MINUTES LATER IT SHUTS OFF. WE HAVE TO TURN IT BACK ON. THEN WE WOULD BE DRIVING AT SPEED BELOW 30 MPH AND TURNS OFF. AND MOST DANGEROUSLY ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT JUST TURNS OFF AND WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND THIS IS HARD SPECIALLY BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL IS SO STIFF. HOPEFULLY JEEP/CHRYSLER CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP 10-4-19. SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIME WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN WAS WITH MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I FIRST THOUGHT SHE JUST DID SOMETHING WRONG AND DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF THE ISSUE. UNTIL I WAS TAKING MY SON TO A BASEBALL CAMP IN UT KNOXVILLE. IT DIED ON US TWICE WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK US ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES AND IT FINALLY WOULD START BACK UP AND RUN NORMAL. ON THE TRIP HOME IT RAN FINE UNTIL WE CROSSED OVER THE GEORGIA STATE LINE AND IT DIED ONE MORE TIME. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY. I READ SOMEWHERE THAT IT WAS A GROUNDING ISSUE SO I PULLED THE GROUND WIRES OFF TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE TOUCHING METAL. THIS HASN'T HELPED...
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN THE FAST LANE ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AND I NOTICED THAT ALL DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A FAST-LANE SHOULDER THAT I WAS ABLE TO STEER IT ON, OR I MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START SO I DISCONNECTED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RE-CONNECTED IT AND THEN THE VEHICLE RE-STARTED BUT RAN VERY ROUGH. I PROCEEDED ALONG THE SHOULDER TO TRY AND GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, BUT THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN. I REPEATED THE SAME PROCESS AND IT AGAIN RE-STARTED AND I MANAGED TO DRIVE HOME ON BACK ROADS AT 40 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AT LEAST THREE OTHER OCCASIONS, BUT THE INCIDENTS OCCURRED MANY MONTHS APART, WHICH MADE ME THINK IT WAS A ONE-OFF SITUATION. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED...

PERFORMANCE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM GEORGESVILLE (1130 AUTO MALL DR, COLUMBUS, OH 43228, (614) 272-0000) TESTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT PROVIDE AN EXACT DIAGNOSIS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO REMEDY THE FAILURE BY TAPING UP THE FUEL LINE. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

ENGINE DOES NOT START SOMETIMES, HAVE HAD RECALLED IGNITION PUT IN ALREADY. THEN IT STALLED ON HIGHWAY, HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC, COULDN'T GET IT JUMPED. HE TOOK OFF SERPENTINE BELT AND SHOWED US ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. IT HAS A 5.7 HEMI IN IT. I GET ALL FLUIDS CHANGED WHEN I'M SUPPOSED TO. CHANGE OIL AND FILTER RELIGIOUSLY WITH BEST OIL AND FILTER AVAILABLE . MECHANIC EVEN SAID ALL FLUIDS LOOKED GREAT. HE CAN'T UNDERSTAND IT. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, FROM LEAKING WEEPHOLES IN SON ROOF TO DRIVETRAIN, NOT WANTING TO START AND STALLING WHEN EVER TO NOW A SEIZED ENGINE!
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING ALONG AS NORMAL ON THE CITY STREET WITH MINIMAL AND MY VEHICLE CUT OFF ON ITS OWN. IT WILL NOT TURN OVER OR EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER.
TAKATA RECALL ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. WHEN EXITING THE INTERSTATE MY CAR JUST SHUT IT'S SELF OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS, SOUNDS, ETC. WE TRIED FOR ABOUT 20 MINS TO GET IT TO START BACK AND STAY RUNNING ONCE RUNNING WE TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO A MECHANIC WHO PUT IT ON A MACHINE. NO PROBLEMS SHOWED UP ON THE MACHINE AT ALL AND IT'S BEEN FINE EVER SINCE UNTIL TODAY. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.
THE 2007 JEEP COMMANDER I OWN IS HAVING A FUEL PUMP RELAY ISSUE.IT WILL NOT START BUT CONTINUOUSLY TURNS OVER ALSO WE HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS MAKING IT A RATHER DANGEROUS SITUATION. MANY OF THE VEHICLES FROM 07 AND UP HAD A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT REASON BUT UNFORTUNATELY MINE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. I AM CERTAIN THAT THIS IS MY ISSUE BUT THE MANUFACTURER HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT PAYING AN ARM AND A LEG.
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, MY JEEP HAS JOLTED LIKE IT HAD LOST POWER FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. THE JOLT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT IT MADE MY ARMS ACHE FROM IT. THIS WORRIES ME AS I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT COMPLETE STALLS AT HIGH SPEEDS AND THIS COULD CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT. MY JEEP HAS 150,000 MILES ON IT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY.

2007 JEEP COMMANDER WITH 112,000 EST MILES, BOUGHT USED IN AK 2016. A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT I KEPT HAVING O2 SENSOR CODES POP UP. I HAVE HAD ALL SENSORS REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE AND NUMEROUS OTHER PARTS WITH THE LATEST BEING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE. TODAY WAS MY BREAKING POINT, I WAS DRIVING ON I-24 TO NASHVILLE TO TAKE MY SON TO AN APPOINTMENT AT VANDERBILT. IT WAS RAINING THIS MORNING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RED LIGHTING BOLT AND OTHER LIGHTS CAME ON. MY JEEP LOST POWER, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK, THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND I WAS SCARED I WAS GOING TO GET HIT. I PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND WAS ABLE TO GET ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE SHOULDER. I SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS...
JEEP SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVE DOWN ROAD, JEEP RESTARTS WITHOUT ISSUE, AND WILL RUN WITHOUT PROBLEMS. THIS HAS BEEN THE 11TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENS, THIS TIME I WAS ALSO REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK. I HAVE HAD THIS LOOKED AT FROM DODGE MANY TIMES OVER THE YEARS, BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE ISSUE,OR DON'T CARE TOO. BUT TO THERE DEF FENCE IT ONLY HAPPENS EVER SO OFTEN.

THE SERVICE WRITER COULD NOT TELL ME THAT IS A FIX AND THE TECH SAID THAT IS WHAT IT...
VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON FREEWAY DUE TO RECALL CAUSING ANXIETY, FEAR OF LIFE AND POTENTIAL ACCIDENT ON MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE IGNITION SWITCH ON YOUR VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE AN UNINTENDED CHANGE IN IGNITION SWITCH POSITION WHILE DRIVING. THIS MAY RESULT IN A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING ASSIST, POWER BRAKE ASSIST OR DISABLE THE AIRBAG FUNCTION. DISABLING ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY FEATURES COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF VEHICLE OCCUPANT INJURY DURING A CRASH AND/OR CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING
THERE WAS A VALVE SEAT THAT FELL OUT OF THE HEAD WHICH CAUSED MAJOR INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR. THIS MOTOR ONLY HAD 120K MILES ON IT AND DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER ISSUES. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, SHUT OFF AND THEN WHEN IT WAS STARTED AGAIN IT HAD THE ISSUE.
MY FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS BROKEN AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT BROKE. IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE AS SIMPLE AS WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, AS IT IS 10 YEARS OLD. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL AND/OR A CRASH.

MY 2007 JEEP COMMANDER IS STALLING AND SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN PARK AND WHILE DRIVING REGARDLESS OF SPEED. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AT A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD THOUGH ARE UNSURE IF THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM.
FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS NOW I INTERMITTENTLY RECEIVE A "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" MESSAGE IN MY DASH AND THE CAR WON'T START FOR ABOUT 24 HOURS LATER. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER A GOOD RAIN. I WILL DRIVE TO SOMEWHERE AND THEN PARK FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. WHEN I TRY TO START THE VEHICLE, IT DOESN'T START UNTIL ABOUT 24 HOURS LATER. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. AUTO SHOPS WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND NO ONE SEEMS TO HAVE A CLUE HOW TO FIX THIS. RIGHT NOW THE VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE AS IF I GO SOMEWHERE THERE IS A RISK THAT I WILL BE STRANDED.

AFTER THE REPAIR AND DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH CAUSED THE FINAL DRIVE MODULE TO OVERHEAT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FINAL DRIVE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED A CASE REGARDING THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, A DECISION OF THE REPAIR WAS NOT FINALIZED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

IT IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO US WHEN ON A HIGHWAY. THE FIRST TIME MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND WE HAVE OUR CHILD WITH US. WE THOUGHT IT WAS A PART OF THE LATEST RECALL WE RECEIVED IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE KEY IGNITION. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I STARTING LOSING POWER, TACHOMETER STARTING GOING DOWN AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE AND SIGNIFICANTLY HARD TO PUSH DOWN ON IT, THE SPEED CONTINUED TO GO DOWN AS I WAS TRYING TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AS FAST AS I COULD BUT WITH AN UNRESPONSIVE ENGINE IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT.
