GEAR SHIFT ERROR LIGHTS! WHILE DRIVING ALL THE SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHTS CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. WHEN I PICKED UP TO SPEED THE LIGHTS CAME BACK. THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN TURNING AND STARTED JERKING WITH TAKE OFF. ONCE THE POWER SHUTS OFF THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO START AND TURNED OVER UNTIL IT CAUGHT ON. I DRIVE AROUND A LARGE CITY WITH LOTS OF HIGHWAYS FOR A LIVING AND I AM AFRAID THE CAR MAY LOSS POWER IN TRAFFIC! THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE SUMMER 2020
ENGINE CUTS OUT WITH NO WARNING WHEN VEHICLE IN MOTION. IMMEDIATE LOSS OF STEERING, BREAKING, AND POWER. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING AT 10-15 MPH FOLLOWING ROAD TO THE RIGHT ON A RISE. IMMEDIATE RISK OF COLLISION FROM FOLLOWING CARS.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING! APPARENTLY WHEN OIL IS LOW, ENGINE IS BUILT TO SHUT OFF AS A SAFETY FEATURE! NO OIL LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON. THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING VEHICLE WITH NO WARNING. CHECKED THE FORUMS ONLINE AND MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF SAME ISSUE. THESE VEHICLES (MINE INCLUDED) ARE BURNING OIL LIKE CRAZY! ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE VEHICLE HAD 60K MILES ON IT. WILL BURN THROUGH 5 QUARTS OF OIL IN 3K MILES OR LESS AND THEN VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF BECAUSE OF NO OIL!
EIGHT TIMES NOW MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL JUST QUIT. DEALERSHIP KEEPS MAKING ME CHECK MY OIL MYSELF. I AM 3000 MILES BEFORE A SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND THE VEHICLE HAS JUST STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS . I LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55 ON ALMOST ALL ROADS. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI WAITING FOR A TOW. I GOT HOME AND AGAIN MY OIL IS LOW. MY CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL. AGAIN I WILL HAVE TO TOW TO DEALER FOR THEM TO PUT OIL IN AND DO NOTHING TO FIX THIS OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS IN FULL MOTION. DASHBOARD GIVES A WARNING TO PUT CAR IN GEAR WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IT IS IN GEAR
VEHICLE ENGAGES EMERGENCY BREAK AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION WHILE IN MOTION'REDUCING THE SPEED TO 0. IT FORCES A RESTART AND ONCE THE RESTART IS DONE VEHICLE WILL MAKE ABRUPT SOUNDS WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. STEERING WILL BECOME STIFF AND VEHICLE WILL DO THIS ON REGULAR STREET ROAD OR HIGHWAY MAKING IT DANGEROUS. ONCE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED A FEW TIMES SENSORS CLEAR OUT. IT'S BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
CAR SHUT DOWN IN MIDDLE OF ROAD, HAPPENED FEW MORE TIMES, CAR IS CONSUMING GAS IN LESS THEN 700 MILES, MECH SAYS ITS A ENGINE ISSUE, I HAVE TO REFILE EVERY FEW DAYS, CAR IS STRUGGLING TO MOVE, I FEAR SHUT DOWN AGAIN IF I DO NOT FILL IN A DANGEROUS LOCATION
VEHICLE STALL WHILE PARKED OR DURING MID TURN. VEHICLE WOULD ALSO HAVE SOME SORT OF OVERHEATING WHICH CAUSES ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ONE AND VEHICLE STARTS TO LOSE POWER CAUSING LIGHTS TO HAVE A SHORT FLICKER. ALL ISSUE HAPPEN DURING MOTION AND WHILE PARKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART HOWEVER, THERE WAS A DELAY AND AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEYS AUTO CENTER (1618 N ROOSEVELT BLVD, KEY WEST, FL 33040) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE JEEP HAS 36.4K MILES. WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR IS OVERHEATING AND SHOOTS ALL THE WAY HOT INTO THE RED AND THEN COOLS DOWN, THEN GOES UP AGAIN. IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 15 MIN. WE FILLED IT WITH ANTIFREEZE. THERE IS NO LEAK. THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM BUT MY MECHANIC SAYS IT'S AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX. IT ALSO HAS A CYLINDER MISFIRE THAT I HAVE HAD TO HAVE FIXED BY CHRYSLER TWICE IN SEPTEMBER AND DECEMBER BECAUSE IT CHUGS WHEN I START THE CAR AND AT STOP LIGHTS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THEY SAY IT'S BAD SPARK PLUGS. I ONLY DRIVE ABOUT 14 MILES A DAY.

ENGINE BURNS TO MUCH OIL. OIL LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON UNTIL ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. CAR STOPS SUDDENLY AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. AN ERROR MESSAGE WILL POP UP TELLING YOU TO PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK AND YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY TO START IT A COUPLE TIMES AND IT WILL TURN OVER BEFORE START.
MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT SHIFTER STOPPED WORKING AS I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD. IT HAS A SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT ON AS IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF THE SAME VEHICLES. I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET THIS FIXED AND I JUST GOT IT. IT LOCKED UP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT SHIFT IN TO NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR SO I COULD GET IT OUT THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES I FINALLY GOT IT TO RELEASE INTO NEUTRAL AND IT ROLLED BACK OFF THE ROAD. NOW IT SAYS SERVICE E BRAKE. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE THIS IS WAY BEYOND YOUR TYPICAL CAR ISSUE THAT CAN BE FIXED FOR A FEW BUCKS. UNSAFE FOR MY KIDS.
SERVICE TRANSMISSION ERROR ALERTING AFTER CAR REACHES 50MPH. CAR LOSES ABILITY TO CHANGE GEARS AND DROPS DRASTICALLY IN SPEED. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. AFTER RESET WHICH ONLY LASTS A SHORT TIME AND ERROR CONTINUES. WHEN CAR IS PUT IN PARK TEMPORARILY RESETS BUT THEN ERRORS AGAIN OVER AND OVER WHEN SPEEDS INCREASE. RED SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON REGARDLESS OF ANY RESET.
CAR HAS HAD REPETITIVE ISSUES LOSING POWER DIRECTLY AFTER A SHARP RIGHT HAND TURN. COMPLETELY LOSES POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS BUT LONG ENOUGH TO POTENTIALLY BE REAR ENDED. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR THE LAST 30,000 MILES AND SEEMS NO HELP IS COMPING FROM THE DEALERSHIP OR MANUFACTURER. I WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD THAT IT WAS A LOW OIL ISSUE ALTHOUGH THE OIL WAS NOT LOW. THIS IS THE V6 VERSION AND DOES NOT CONSUME OIL LIKE THE 4 CYLINDER. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REFLASHED TWICE AND DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO FIND SOURCE AND FIX. I HAVE ONE PARTICULAR TURN ON TO A INTERSTATE HIGHWAY I MAKE EVERY DAY AND THE VEHICLE CONSISTENTLY STALLS ON THAT TURN. WHEN TURNING, LEFT OR RIGHT MY 2016 JEEP CHEROKEE STALLED. IT EMITTED A DING SOUND AND FLASHED THE MESSAGE 'SHIFT GEAR TO PARK FIRST'. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE ENGINE SHUT ITSELF OFF. I LOST POWER STEERING AND ACCELERATION. IT HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 2019, SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY. I SUSPECT THE OIL LEVEL BEING LOW IS THE CAUSE. BUT I HAVE NO INDICATION THAT THE OIL LEVEL GETS LOW.
I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN 2016. AT 33,000 MILES THE ENGINE FAILED RESULTING IN THE CAR SHAKING WHEN ACCELERATING IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT IN AND WAS TOLD THE SPARK PLUGS FAILED AND THEY WERE REPLACED. AT 58,000 MILES THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS AND THESE WERE REPLACED AGAIN. AT 74,100 IT HAPPENED A THIRD TIME. I BROUGHT IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. AT THIS TIME, THE CAR WAS ALMOST 10,000 OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS OIL LEAKING OUT OF MY ENGINE ONTO MY SPARK PLUGS CAUSING THE SPARK PLUGS TO MUD UP AND FAIL AND THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW ENGINE. AFTER SOME ARGUING BACK AND FORTH, FCA, USA AGREED TO SUPPLY A NEW ENGINE IF I PAID FOR THE LABOR, WHICH I DID.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT LOW COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER NUMBER 3 SHOWED INTERNAL FAILURE WITH DTC NUMBER: P0303 (CYLINDER #3 MISFIRE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.

STARTED HAVING SERVICE SHIFTER CODES AT APPROXIMATELY 30K. WOULD BE REPAIRED & AFTER ABOUT 8 WKS IT WOULD THROW THE SAME CODE. REPEATED THE SAME CYCLE 2 ADTL TIMES. TOOK A TOTAL OF 4 TIMES TILL THE ENTIRE SHIFTER, MODULE & WIRING WERE REPLACED. AT 40K MILES MY JEEP DIED ON ME GOING DOWN A HILL. HAD TO COAST DOWN HILL & FIND A HALFWAY SAFE AREA OFF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD NO ABILITY TO START THE VEHICLE. THE ELECTRONICS WOULD COME ON WHEN I TURNED THE KEY BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER WOULD BE SOLID & THE SERVICE SHIFTER ALERT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE ADVISER WALKED ME THRU HOW TO RESET THE CAR. WAIT FOR 5 MINUTES. TURN THE KEY ON & LET IT CYCLE. TURN THE KEY OFF. REPEAT THE PROCESS 3 X'S TILL IT STARTS. TOOK...
CAR SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING! LOOSE POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION! DEALERSHIP EXPLANATION IS THAT THE OIL IS LOW AND CAR IS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IF THE OIL IS LOW. I JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND NO OIL LIGHT EVER CAME ON. MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME AND THAT THIS ENGINE BURNS A WHOLE QUART OF OIL PER 750 MILES!!!

SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. ALL THE LIGHTS LIGHT UP ON SHIFTER. CAR KEEPS SOUNDING LIKE IT'S REVVING ON ITS OWN. AND ALSO CAR KEEPS FEELING LIKE BRAKES TRYING TO SLOW DOWN CAR BY ITSELF, AND THAT HAPPENS SOMETIMES WHILE IT SOUNDS LIKE REVVING AT SAME TIME.
MOTOR BLEW UP AT 72000 MILES, SMOKE FILLED INTERIOR OF VEHICLE MAKING NAVIGATION IMPOSSIBLE AND REAR TIRE WAS PUNCTURED BY MOTOR PARTS CAUSING VEHICLE TO LEAVE ROADWAY, INFORMED FIAT/CHRYSLER OF THE ISSUE OF MOTOR FAILING TO CYCLE OIL CAUSING MAJOR FAILURE OF COMPONENTS, THEY ARE AWARE OF ENGINE ISSUES YET REFUSE RESPONSIBILITY. MOTOR REPLACED AT COST OF 6,300. NO WARRANTY ON VEHICLE.
ENORMOUS AMOUNTS OF OIL BURNING UP AND SCOLDING THE CYLINDER WALLS. OIL CHANGE AND GUARANTEED 3000 MILES. LESS THAN 1000 MILES LATER ALL OIL GONE AND CYLINDER WALLS SCORCHED. NO LEAKS AT ALL THE CAUSE THE MISSING OIL. EVERY 1000 MILES DEALER HAVING TO TOP OFF OIL UNTIL NEXT OIL CHANGE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD WHILE THE BATTERY FAILURE WARNING LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRED MARTIN SUPERSTORE 3195 BARBER RD, BARBERTON, OH 44203 (330) 753-4444, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND THAT IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT AN OIL CHANGE BE PERFORMED. THE OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,527.

FOLLOWING DAY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 55 MPH . DEALERSHIP CONTACTED AND VEHICLE BROUGHT IN FOR INSPECTION. DEALER CONCLUDED THAT ENGINE HAD NO OIL, ALTHOUGH INTERNAL INDICATORS FAILED TO ADVISE AND SHOWED VEHICLE HAD 60% OIL LIFE REMAINING AND 3000 MILES UNTIL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE. DEALER ADVISED THAT VEHICLE IS KNOWN TO BURN OIL, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3X ALREADY. THE JEEP CHEREOKEE MANUAL STATES OIL CHANGES SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 8,000 MILES. I HAVE THE 2.4L IN MY CHEROKEE. THE SAME AS OTHER JEEP MODELS AND I HAVE HAD THE SAME OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE THAT THIS ENGINE LINE HAS. JEEP JUST SHUT OFF AND HAD TO RESTART. WITH ALL THE ISSUES I SEE ON FORUMS AND SOCIAL MEDIA IT SEEMS SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE WE GET TO THE THRESHOLD OF UNACCEPTABLE ACCIDENTS AND DEATH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE HAS APPROX. 38,000 MILES AND THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING ASSEMBLY IS MALFUNCTIONING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2015/2016 CHEROKEES BETWEEN 30,000 AND 40,000 MILES. VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON OCCURRENCE, SHOULDN'T THIS BE A RECALL? IF IGNORED, THIS COULD LEAD TO SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE.
