I was in a pretty serious collision with a very large deer this morning. My car is totaled, the airbags did not deploy and I had to physically shield my face, neck and head.
Side air bag alert: OFF
My airbag light came on on June 2, 2023. I called Honda to get an appointment, inwhich I did for 6/20/23 for them to diagnose and do a state inspection. On 6/20/23, I was told that I had a FAULTY CABLE REEL. I was told that my car would not pass inspection without me getting this repaired at the cost of $760.99. I got it repaired on 6/21/23 due to the part having to be ordered and received that day.
My airbag light came on without any incidents accruing.
Driver side air bag inflator pump is defective resulting into SRS light on occasionally. State inspection failed on vehicle due to the issue. Registered case with Honda but case is not assigned to any case managers despite calling 5 times. It’s been more than 3 weeks and still no answer from Honda. This was safety recall for the same part but entering vehicle VIN number in the safety recall tool shows zero recalls pending on the vehicle. Can you please advise what steps I should take now??)
I VISITED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL WORK. THEY DID NOT COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK. *TR
THE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE 2011 HONDA CR-V WHEN HER VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR.THE DAUGHTER EXPERIENCED BACK STRAINS AND WHIP LASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE HOME ADDRESS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO OTHER PASSENGERS WERE IN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CRASH OCCURRED OCTOBER 23, 2019.
DURING A FAIRLY LOW SPEED COLLISION (~25 - 30 MPH) THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT FULLY INFLATE. CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND TITLE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY.

I HAD BOTH AIRBAG INFLATORS REPLACED. HOWEVER I RECENTLY RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FROM DEALER SAYING THE PASSENGER BAG NEEDED DOING. I THOUGHT THIS WAS WEIRD, AND CHECKED THE HONDA RECALL SITE, AND IT SAYS "NOTHING NEEDS REPLACING". HOWEVER, TODAY I DOUBLED CHECK WITH THE DEALER, AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A "BULLETIN" ASSOCIATED WITH A POTENTIAL FAULTY INSTALLATION. I HAVE NO IDEA NOW IF THIS IS DEALER [XXX] OR A LEGIT SAFETY CONCERN. PLEASE MAKE SURE HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THIS. VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH A 2015 DODGE RAM 1500. THE HONDA CRV COLLIDED WITH THE BACK OF THE PARKED DODGE RAM GOING ABOUT 35 MILES AN HOUR. DRIVER BRAKED HARD 15 TO 20 FEET BEFORE IMPACT. AFTER IMPACT THE CAR SMELLED LIKE GUN POWDER BUT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON A FOUR-LANE ROAD, 127TH AND HOMAN IN BLUE ISLAND ILLINOIS.
TAKATA RECALL: IN JULY 2016 MY WIFE AND I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG ON OUR 2011 HONDA CR-V VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG WAS ALLEGEDLY REPLACED AT THAT TIME, BUT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN (AS I WRITE THIS NOTE IN JUNE 2018). I CAN DOCUMENT SEVERAL ADDITIONAL TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON, WITH THE HONDA DEALERSHIP GIVING VARIOUS EXPLANATIONS, WHILE NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM. IF YOU INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE, I HAVE 10 SERVICE REPAIR RECORDS OVER 2 YEARS SHOWING THE SRS LIGHT COMING ON BECAUSE OF A PROBLEM OR DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER (RHINELANDER HONDA, 1737 N STEVENS ST, RHINELANDER, WI 54501) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH CLOCKSPRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE AIR BAG INFLATOR REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000.
TAKATA RECALL DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. SINCE REPLACEMENT I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS INDICATE THAT THE BAGS ARE NOT WORKING AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS ALSO ARE NOT WORKING, THESE WARNINGS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I START THE CAR! I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALER (THE ONE THAT REPLACED BOTH BAGS) AND PAID AN ADDITIONAL FEE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED. AT THAT TIME I ALSO MENTIONED MY COMPLAINT FROM PURCHASE THAT THE IGNITION KEY GETS VERY HOT AND THAT THE AUTO BATTERY MUST BE REPLACED EVERY TWO YEARS! THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG OR UNUSUAL! THE AUTO HAD 34849 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AT THE TIME (2/13/17) AND CONTIUES TO DATE!

THAT WAS BACK IN AUGUST 2016 THEY TOOK DOWN MY INFORMATION AND SAID THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME. SINCE THEN I HAVE CALLED THEM AND CHECKED THE WEBSITE AND NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. I'M AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THIS COULD PROVE TO BE FATAL. I CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE SINCE CONTACTING PARAGON HAS PROVEN TO BE USELESS. CALLED IN DECEMBER 2016 AND LOCAL HONDA DEALER SAID THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART. THEY STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. PLEASE HAVE IT SENT TO KENDALL HONDA OF FAIRBANKS ALASKA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU

MOST OF MY MAINTENANCE IS DONE AT THE HONDA DEALER AT 621 BATTLEFIELD BLVD IN CHESAPEAKE VA AND AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES LAST YEAR WHEN VISITING FOR MAINTENANCE I ASKED ABOUT THE AIRBAG RECALL AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS WERE STILL ON BACK ORDER AND I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN THEY ARRIVED. TODAY'S RECALL NOTICE SAYS TO FILE A COMPLAINT IF YOUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIR WITHIN 60 DAYS OF INITIAL CONTACT.

I HAD ALREADY STARTED THE RECALL PROCESS ON THE 2007 SO I IMMEDIATELY ADVISED THE DEALERSHIP OF MY TRADE AND GAVE THEM THE VIN NUMBER OF MY NEW VEHICLE AND ASKED THEM TO ORDER THE NEW AIR BAGS.
