The front forward-facing camera module has failed, causing cruise control and driver-assistance features to become inoperative. Dealer diagnosis indicates the front camera must be replaced and recalibrated in order to restore cruise control and safety systems. This failure disables cruise control and driver-assist features that were standard equipment on the vehicle at purchase, resulting in a sudden loss of functionality while driving. The dealer has provided a repair estimate of approximately $1,150, including parts, labor, and required calibration, at owner expense. Based on similar reports from other owners, this appears to be a recurring issue affecting this model year.
To start off my truck has been to the dealership multiple time for the camera. After third time in the shop they fixed that issue. Then the infotainment started acting up after about 4 times in the shop it was fixed. They gave me the prescribed fix for the engine recall in november. Engine passed the test. Then 3 weeks ago the engine siezed up from the crank and bearings on the interstate doing 70 pulling a trailer in traffic. Leaveing me and my dad in the middle of the interstate. I had to have it towed 2 hours to my house. After the prescribed engine fix. They replaced the motor in 3 days. Great right? No they did not test drive long enough. Or they would have felt the shudder that developed after the new engine went in. It is now about to go back to the shop. Because...
My TAILGATE kept opening randomly and ENGINE WAS MAKING CLUNKING SOUND initially. Lost many tools on the highway once when it opened. Dealership told me my truck is not covered under a recall for both issues, even though other similar vehicles are. I refused to pay anything to have it fixed. They claimed my truck “wasn’t built in the factory that has recalls”. A month later the STARTER AND BATTERY burned up when I started up the truck, something locked up it sounded like. Eventually it started but didn’t sound right. A few days later the engine finally blew up. I paid out of pocket for everything for that trip. It’s currently back at the dealer being repaired with a new engine for the recall but GMC refuses to pay for the initial clunking/starter/battery and the tailgate issues. I’ve encored so many charges with tows and rentals from all these...
Setting in a parking lot and the tailgate fell open and hit another car. The tailgate was closed and has fell open 3 more times while the vehicle is in park and one time it was powered off.
Lost brakes and couldn’t stop the truck
The windshield defroster and heater blower speed reduces and/or shuts off shortly after accelerating to highway range speeds. Blowing snow from Alaska roads will melt and refreeze on the windshield reducing visibility creating a safety hazard. The truck has not been successfully repaired after multiple and lengthy attempts. The heated steering wheel also malfunctions intermittently. The blower motor does seem to come back up to speed when vehicle speed is reduced to city speeds but is intermittent also.
1.)When driving the vehicle it will randomly shutoff while driving with loss of brakes and steering until it will randomly turn back on.The vehicle experiences intermittent electronic and drivability malfunctions. The issue appears to involve one or more vehicle control modules and/or electronic systems. At times, warning lights and system messages appear, and vehicle performance is affected. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2.)These failures create a serious safety risk because they occur without warning while driving. The vehicle may lose normal functionality, display multiple warnings, or behave unpredictably. If this occurs in traffic, at speed, or while maneuvering, it could increase the risk of a crash or leave the vehicle stranded in an unsafe location. Furthermore on 3 separate circumstances I came close to crashing the vehicle putting at risk lives in the vehicle and outside. 3.)The problem is intermittent and has been difficult to reproduce on...
Tailgate unlatched by itself, first time I was connected to a trailer and it damaged the tailgate. Multiple (4+) times afterwards while being parked in garage tailgate opens by itself all during the same day could not get this to stop. Called dealership today for appointment where they could get me in the shop in the middle of the week, but they told me that this issue is known but not covered under my VIN.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the tailgate opened unintendedly. The contact stated that the failure occurred while the vehicle was idling or while parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the failure was caused by a corroded wire. The dealer determined that the wire and the tailgate switch needed to be replaced. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall or covered under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired but was scheduled for repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. The VIN was not available.
Telematics module failed directly after update, vehicle is outside of warranty (by mileage) but only 3 years old. no GPS, Onstar, and several other features that rely on this system to operate. several dealers would not even look at it when calling for appointment, one dealer stated that the part was on back order for up to 2 years and did not want to waste the time to look at it. Upon research, this appears to be a very common problem on all GM models with similar outcome
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH hauling a trailer going downhill, the engine seized. The vehicle was difficult to control. The message to “Shift to Neutral and Restart" was displayed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the running boards were stuck outwards. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where the engine was replaced after two months. The dealer informed the contact that the battery was completely drained. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,500.
Every time I pull the truck into my garage or a parking stall at low speeds while using the front park sensor it will shut off with the automatic start stop while still in motion. Then you have to let off the brake pedal for it to start and sometimes the vehicle will search forward.
Onstar Module Failed.
Transmission shutters and won’t engage into reverse when hot, rear backup camera intermittently won’t display on screen just get a picture of a camera on dash screen. Happens multiple times dealer charged me for diagnostics but didn’t even drive the vehicle to get hot.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the radio and other electrical systems failed to function as intended. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. After several minutes, the contact restarted the vehicle and the radio and other electrical systems failed to engage. The contact was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon further investigation, the contact became aware of a recall on the VIN. The contact parked the vehicle at the residence and no longer drove the vehicle. The contact asked the dealer to provide towing service to tow the vehicle and...
My 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 shows message "Shift To Park" when turning off, even though it has been shifted to park. Have to play with shifter to get it to stop, sometimes turning it back on and off will do trick. Locking it with remote works most of the time but this last time it took over 10 minutes .
Engine has had recall and still no remedy for it. Paint is chipping off and back locks stopped workingp
The dealer is telling me there is a faulty engine coolant, flow control valve on this vehicle and multiple other people are having the same issue. The part is on backorder and takes months to arrive. They are telling me I can drive the vehicle, but it becomes a safety issue because the engine thinks it is overheating And goes into reduced acceleration mode, which can impact safely driving the vehicle. Pulling out in traffic and not being able to accelerate can be extremely dangerous.
Tailgate automatically opens while driving or in park tailgate fell down on its own and hit garage door causing a scratch scrape of paint vehicle only has 46000 miles this part should not have gone bad already and why was this year not on the recall should not have to pay for part and labor on a 3 yr old truck bad business... Onstar module went bad GMC truck only 3 yrs old should not have to pay for part and labor and installation on a new module this failure should be covered by gm as it there fualty part on a new vehicle bad business
I was driving home from work one day my truck started. Losing power I could press the gas to make the truck drive it started slowing down
Intermittent failure of audio and safety alerts (Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning) Dealership’s response: “No fix” despite warranty. Safety impact: Increased collision risk.
Driving 70 mph on highway and the engine shut off. Dash says shift to park to restart. Pulled over and put the vehicle in park and pressed engine start. Vehicle did not start back up. (No crank no start) Vehicle locked in park and wont shift. Vehicle was towed to my house. Replaced battery bus bar and vehicle started back up. Test drove and shut off again in my driveway. Will not restart. No engine light on. 124k miles on it. No warning of this happening. Vehicle randomly will shut off. Sometimes it turns on. Been parked since January in my garage for safety concerns until I learn of a repair.
Hello, I wish to report this injury / incident with the failure of the power running boards on my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Limited. There are no warning Lamps on the vehicle. The truck is regularly serviced and inspected. The truck recently had a multi-point inspection at the dealer. The power running boards started to come out after I opened my door, as I stepped down, the steps retracted and went back in causing me to fall hard on the ground and smash my knees. Driver and passenger sides are now acting up, even with the truck parked and locked, passenger side wants to go in and out on its own and sometimes extends to the tire. As I researched this problem, I found out that others have had similar issues with the same vehicles that have these power running boards. I removed the fuse now to prevent further...
Truck will not fully shut off when turned off will say shift to park for 5/10 minutes after it is turned off finally drained my. 6 month old batterie
While driving my 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 6.2L truck, it somehow turned off. I placed it on neutral and tried to turn on, but it didn’t. I maneuvered to stop at the side of the road, but I was not close enough to the curb making it uncomfortable for others to drive around. I tried again to turn on the truck, but it didn’t. Before and after everything looked good, there were no symptoms or warning lights on the truck. I gave it a break and tried to turn in the truck, but it didn’t. I called GM roadside asst., and I got towed to the closed GM Services. They found out that battery was damaged, and an open starter fuse damaged. They changed the battery, the fuse block, and did the multi-point vehicle inspection (MPVI), and everything seemed good. I picked up my truck, and on my way back...
Tailgate comes unlatched and tailgate came down multiple times in motion and parked. Safety concerns loosing cargo and causing accidents. My vehicle is not included in the recall and dealer cannot help only repair for 146.80. I feel that my vehicle should be included to the already existing recall and reimbursement for repair.
My onstar is not working this is a hazard for me since the truck cannot be tracked if stolen or even worse if a accident does happen there is no way for onstar to help . My subscription is up to date and paid and now the dealer is telling me the truck has a issue with the onstar module
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to immediately start with the message "Battery and Key fob" failure displayed. The battery and key fob were replaced; however, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that after shifting to park(P) and turning off the vehicle, the message "Shift to Park" remained displayed on the instrument panel, with an audible chime coming from the vehicle. The contact was forced to use the key fob to lock and unlock the doors several times to correct the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
During the first approximately 10 minutes of most drives, the vehicles speaker systems intermittently cuts in and out. This includes the turn signal audio and seatbelt chimes. It does not happen on every drive, I would estimate that about 2 out of 3 drives this issue occurs. All sound will cut out for about a half a second up to 2 seconds. After I begin the drive this issue will go away usually within 10 minutes however sometimes it is quicker than that. I have not taken the vehicle to be looked at due to others stating the dealer has no fix for the issue at this time. The turn signal and seatbelt chime cutting out can create confusion and may cause occupants to forget to buckle their seatbelt. No warning lights or messages have appeared in relation to this issue
Hi, I was driving on [XXX] and my radio volume went to full volume 100% by itself. The radio would not shut off and none of the controls would work, everything froze. I kept turning the volume button down and the volume bar on the screen showed that it was trying to minimize, but it wouldn't stay. It kept going to full volume. Finally, after I kept pushing the off and mute buttons, the radio shut off and was unresponsive. When I reached my destination and shut the truck off and restarted it, the radio then worked as it normally should. This happened to me yesterday, and I'm still having trouble hearing and my ears hurt. I researched this online and found that there are many other people that had this same scenario with their sierra. I wanted to reach out and report this. Thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT...
Radio software glitch (bulletin 23-NA-183) cuts blower fan speed to 50% or below resulting in ineffective defrost during winter months. GM knows of the issue and has a radio software update but will not complete this as warranty and/or recall and will demand you pay for the correction. Due to the uncontrolled and loss of power to fan that cannot be corrected by the owner (ex. turning radio off/on will not fix it) this has become a serious safety concern as the windshield can fog, frost, or freeze while driving the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the infotainment system, and the rearview camera became inoperative, and the vehicle stalled. The tailgate unintendedly opened, and the steering and lane control assist feature independently activated causing the vehicle to steer in the other lanes. The contact stated while the vehicle was in reverse, the vehicle unexpectedly shifted to park. No warning light was illuminated; however, the "Check Suspension" message was displayed on the instrument panel, and lights on the instrument panel were intermittently darkened. The headlights were intermittently illuminated independently. The failures had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the results were unknown. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 75 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled, and the instrument cluster had gone blank. The contact stated that her husband was able to coast to the side of the highway and stopped the vehicle. The contact’s husband attempted to restart the vehicle several times, but the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine had seized, and the 12-volt battery harness had short-circuited. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
Infotainment system volume shot up full blast on its own with no operator control or influence. The volume of music was so high that it was hard to concentrate on driving while trying to reduce the volume and could not. Had to pull over on the side of the road and shut off vehicle to get the volume to go down. This could be a potential safety risk when driving at higher speeds causing the driver to not concentrate on the road and other surrounding vehicles. I reported issue to dealership and have not had it looked at yet as it has only happened one time. The volume indicator flashed on the screen and showed the volume indicator bar going up to full blast. No other indicators or warning were present at the time.
The tailgate unlatches without being activated.
Rear tailgate would randomly fall down without any key fob buttons being hit. Did some Google searches and it sounds like it is VERY common. There is a faulty tailgate switch that will randomly drop the tailgate which could cause damage if you have a bike rack on or things could fall out of the truck bed while driving if it isn't noticed that the tail gate has dropped
This is the second time after already bringing in for service, while driving turning on the radio the volume goes to full volume with a Bose system it is ear piercing, none of the radio controls worked, I could not shut off the radio or turn the volume down it was locked at full volume. I had to stop in the middle of the road in Cambridge MA, Place in park, shut the engine off and open the drivers side door to shut the radio off, it took four attempts of restarting and stopping vehicle before the volume would return to normal. This is a severe SAFETY HAZARD THAT WILL EFFECT HEARING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, I AM SO FED UP WITH THIS VEHICLE. I need to schedule another appointment for GMC to do nothing.
This has now happened twice. While driving down the road, my radio has went to full volume and continues to go back to full volume, even if I twist the volume control knob quickly to lower the volume. This is a very scary situation while driving down the road and your radio goes to 100% volume out of the blue. There is no warning and the volume just goes to 100%
While driving, I turned the volume on the radio a couple clicks louder using the steering wheel controls. After I stopped pushing the volume button on the steering wheel, it continued to rapidly increase volume until it maxed out. It was incredibly loud, in a panic, I verified the VOL+ button was not stuck. The VOL- on the steering wheel did not reduce the volume. I spun the volume button down, on the radio, but it would instantly return to full volume the moment I stopped spinning it. The power button on the radio also had no effect. I was driving at 50mph and had no way to reduce the volume from the max, which was incredibly distracting to say the least. I was finally able to get it to stop by pulling out my phone (which was connected via CarPlay) and hitting the pause button on my phone. Afterwards...
On June 8th I started my truck and it made a strange unfamiliar noise before starting. I thought it was bizarre. Shortly after I stopped in traffic and my truck stalled out. It stayed on but when I went to give it gas I didn’t move. So I restarted the engine and the same strange noise was made. Along with the noise I smelled something funny so I pulled into a gas station. Little did I know my truck was on fire. I got the vehicle away from the gas pumps and within 5 minutes the whole truck was on fire. Before this fire I had brought the vehicle in for service due to a check engine light multiple times the codes will be listed below. I also had an interlock device installed in the truck at the time.
Problem #1: initially reported issue with check engine light coming on when driving in rain or getting vehicle washed. Research shows grounding issues. Dealership replaced BCM but problem persists. Reported problem again but no actions are being taken
Side Blind Zone Warning in Driver’s side mirror constantly alerts(turns on) when driving on a highway next to guardrails without any other vehicles nearby. Extremely disturbing at night.
On January 20th 2024 I was cleaning heavy dirt and mud off of my truck, after leaving the car wash and driving about 20 miles, once I parked my tailgate started to open over and over on its own. This happened again on March 4th 2024 after cleaning off a lot of dirt from my vehicle the tailgate opened on its own while my truck was parked in the garage. It opened into the garage door, when I left I did not know it was open, so when I opened the garage door the hinges on the garage door scraped and dented the tailgate as it opened. I had not pressed any buttons inside the truck, outside of the truck, or pressed the tailgate open buttons on the key fob. After intense car washes it has opened on its own each time.
On Feb. 27, 2024 approx. 04:15 left for gym and work. When arrived at gym and began to park, I put truck in reverse to check back line and noticed I was looking at my license plate. I then put into park and got out of truck and shut tailgate. Thinking not much about it, I must've touched the button the night before and hit a bump on way into work. Since I have a toneau cover, it fits pretty tight and I typically have to pull it down by hand. I heard about recall that day after I got to work from co workers. Checked my VIN, but did not come up as one of the tailgate recalls. March 7, 2024- Left again for gym and work approximately same time in AM. As I was driving into gym and work, another car coming up close behind me wanted to...
While unlocked, passenger doors go through unlocking phase, door locks click, parking lights flash and tail gate comes open. Along with this, an electric motor sound comes from underneath the vehicle (pre start fuel pressurization sequence?) that goes on and on, doors locked, or unlocked, that, left unchecked, drains the battery. Must be hooked to battery recharger round the clock.
Purchase new in Sept 2022. I did not notice that my trailer hitch Connector was not working until after a year later. when i needed to hookup my enclosed car hauler trailer. And notice that my trailer daytime running lights where not working. Only brakes/,turn signals and four way flashers. I contacted my dealer and again they found no issues with the factory harness. leaving me on the side of the road until morning. As i had no running lights. After arriving back home. I crawl under the rear bumper. just to check the connections. I could not see anything nor would i know what to look for. I called another Gmc dealer and they mention that they been having problems with the module for the factory trailer connector. Still having issues
Tailgate occasionally self deploys. 1 incident resulted in damage to the tailgate while towing a trailer.
The tailgate is opening on it's own. There have been many times it has been open and we were not aware until we go to the back of the truck or put the truck in reverse and notice it on the backup camera. We first noticed it happen around Christmas of 2023, and it has been happening randomly since then.
While driving vehicle with infotainment system playing radio, radio volume goes to full volume that is ear piercing and is going to cause hearing damage. Must pull off the road as fast as possible, place vehicle in park, shut off vehicle and open drivers side door to get radio to shut off. While the issue is happening volume knob does nothing, stereo on off button does nothing and steering wheel volume controls do nothing. This is a serious issue when trying to pull over, I keep ear muffs in vehicle to protect ear drums. This has happened at least 6 times, I plan on bring to GMC dealer.
