1.)When driving the vehicle it will randomly shutoff while driving with loss of brakes and steering until it will randomly turn back on.The vehicle experiences intermittent electronic and drivability malfunctions. The issue appears to involve one or more vehicle control modules and/or electronic systems. At times, warning lights and system messages appear, and vehicle performance is affected. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2.)These failures create a serious safety risk because they occur without warning while driving. The vehicle may lose normal functionality, display multiple warnings, or behave unpredictably. If this occurs in traffic, at speed, or while maneuvering, it could increase the risk of a crash or leave the vehicle stranded in an unsafe location. Furthermore on 3 separate circumstances I came close to crashing the vehicle putting at risk lives in the vehicle and outside. 3.)The problem is intermittent and has been difficult to reproduce on...
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, there was an abnormal bumping sensation coming from the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated that there was an abnormal bumping sensation while turning the steering wheel. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving at slow speeds. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The contact referenced an unknown recall, with a similar failure; however, the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,500.
While driving on a two lane highway at approximately 60 MPH the powersteering on my truck failed with warning lights on the dash. I limped it to a town where I could get it scanned and they could not figure out the issue. The issue was intermittent for a few days until it was non-stop. It took over a month to get the reconfigured part from GM to complete the repair, GM had to reconfigure the part to fix the issue I was having. A faulty powersteering control module was the probelm and it required replacement of the entire steering rack and alignment. GM is aware of this issue clearly due to their choice to rework the affected part, but not issuing a recall in light of the issue to take full repsonsibility/reimburse customers that have suffered monetary damage due to their failure to propperly engeineer parts.
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the transmission would downshift, and the vehicle was aggressively shaking while idling and while depressing the brake pedal. While driving approximately 35 - 40 MPH, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Service message was displayed, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, the vehicle was turned off for a while and then restarted to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the crankshaft, bearings, and tie rods needed to be replaced due to engine failure. The engine was rebuilt and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,636.
I purchased my 2022 GMC SIERRA XLT in February of 2022. I have had it in the shop 4 times for recalls. They couldn’t or didn't put an inspection sticker on the truck because I honestly don’t think it could have passed inspection. The truck sounds like a truck on Transformer when I turn it off breaking town like a robot. On yesterday which was 1/27/2025 while backing up to turn around the truck started dragging in the back like the breaks locking up, the same thing happened while turning into my driveway off a state highway with an 18 wheeler coming. GMC can’t look at the truck until February 10! This Truck was purchased new and it’s been nothing but trouble. Electrical system goes in and out Steering assist reduced drive with care, Engine power reduced, park assist on then off and truck making unusual noise. I waited 13...
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, the contact observed a loud sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the steering wheel then pulled to the right. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and inspected. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was awaiting a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
When I started my truck the Service Power Steering and Service ESC notifications came up on my panel. Now my truck has no power steering and it very difficult to steer and navigate. We are in the middle of a winter storm so it is even more of a safety issue in slippery conditions. The ESC system does not engage either and the truck slides when taking corners much more than it used to before the issue.
After leaving my truck parked for a couple of hours over dinner I returned to find error messages stating "Service Power Steering / Drive With Care" and "Service ESC". I also received a notification from OnStar stating "Diagnostic Alert: Service the Antilock Braking System in your 2022 Sierra within 1 day." My power steering was non-functional, nor were any cruise control functions. Repeated stop / start cycles did not clear the errors or regain functionality. After parking overnight everything was functional, and the errors on the DIC were gone. Using a code scanner there were historical codes of U0131 and U0422.
