On May 23rd 2022 I was driving on interstate 45 the speed limit through where I was driving was 75 all of a sudden with no warning no engine light on my transmission stopped working and I could not break I was able to safely get over thank goodness but there is a recall on my transmission which almost killed me that needs to be replaced

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,764. THE CONSUMER STATED HE NOTICED HIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, WITH THE OTHER FORD MODELS. WHILE DRIVING, I FELT THE VAN WAS NOT SHIFTING, SO I WENT TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER-AGAIN, NOTHING WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION BUT THEY DID DO A TRANSMISSION TUNE UP. WHEN I PICKED IT UP, I DROVE INTO TOWN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO STOP ON A RED LIGHT. ON GREEN, I PRESSED MY GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IN A DESPERATE EFFORT, I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AGAIN, BUT FOR ONLY ABOUT A QUARTER MILE TO HAVE TO DO THE SAME REPEATEDLY UNTIL I GOT TO A SAFER SPOT. FINALLY, I ENDED UP LEAVING MY VAN PARKED AT A SHOPPING CENTER AND CALLED A CAB HOME. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM...

DROVE ALL DAY JUNE 15 WITH ONLY ABOVE LISTED PROBLEMS, GOT IN THE VAN THE SAME NIGHT ONLY TO FIND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. NO WARNINGS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VAN WAS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WITH NO MOVEMENT, ONLY RISING RPMS. I HAVE CHECKED NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUMS ONLY TO DISCOVER HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND FORD HAS NOT REIMBURSED ANYONE OR DONE A RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME YEAR MODEL ON ALMOST EVERY FORUM COMPLAINT. WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 WINDSTAR AT 40 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING THE MORNING RUSH HOUR IT LOST POWER. THE VAN HAD TO BE PUSHED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VAN WOULD START BUT IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. AAA TOWED THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC HAS TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER. FIVE DAYS PRIOR THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED FROM THE FORD DEALER WITH A NEW REAR AXLE (RECALL, 10 WEEKS AT THE DEALER). AT THE TIME OF FAILURE THE VAN HAD APPROXIMATELY 116000 MILES. THE WINDSTAR WILL BE REPAIRED AT A COST OF $1849.11. I CAN NOT REPLACE THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME (I WOULD LIKE TO!). FORD WANTS $3800 TO REPLACE IT. THE VAN IS ONLY WORTH THAT. THEN I FIND OUT THAT FORD HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINTS AND FAILURES WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. I TAKE CARE OF AND MAINTAIN MY VEHICLES AND I GET THIS HANDED TO ME. THEN THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT THE AXLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT MIGHT BE 6 WEEKS BEFORE THE PART EVEN COMES IN.
