Transmission seems to lose power while driving, the car will barely pull itself but the rpms increase if I accelerate. This has happened several times while driving and occasionally there are dash lights lighting and speedometer/gas gauge doesn’t work but that doesn’t happen every time. When it happens I pull over and shut it down and restart and it runs correctly until it happens again! I do a lot of highway driving and the car just “falling flat” on a multi-lane highway at 70+ mph is definitely a safety issue! I have taken it to my local fastlane shop and the car was driven but didn’t malfunction at that time. He advised me to try to drive it there if it happened again, but I have never been close to the shop at the times it happens or they are closed. There is no advance warning, it happens at various...

Recently started having erratic shifting issues. Will downshift randomly out of nowhere while driving. Sometimes will just be stuck in 1st gear and won’t go anywhere until I pull over and shut off/start up again. Dangerous because I never know when it will do it. Might seem like everything is fine and then all of a sudden, it downshifts and loses power. Rpm’s rise but car has no power. Have to figure out how to get out of the way. As stated in ford’s “ Customer Satisfaction Program 16N02,” my 2012 has all the symptoms and I have DTC code P0731 but dealer refused to service my vehicle because it doesn’t show up with my VIN, even though it’s a 2012 and I clearly need my Molded Leadframe replaced.

Transmission unexpectedly slipped gear while driving at a steady pace in traffic. Caused RPMs to rev high and loud, with inability to control speed suddenly. Had to quickly pull over and turn off car. After waiting a few minutes, was able to restart car and continue driving without issue. This has happened 3-4 times now. Took to my local mechanic who stated there is an issue with a sensor inside the transmission. Spoke to my Ford dealer I purchased the car from, and was informed that this is a known issue occurring with many 2012 Form Mustangs, and they expect a recall to be announced shortly.

IAS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND LET OFF THE GAS, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED SUDDENLY TO A LOWER GEAR CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV UP TO 4000 RPM.
SAME AS EVERYONE I KNOW HIGH REV LOCKOUT, CAN'T SHIFT PAST 7KRPMS CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS TO THE FLOOR. GEARS ARE ROUGH TO GET INTO NORMAL. WILL HEAR LOUD CLUNKING WHEN CHANGING GEARS SOMETIMES. CAR HAS 35K MILES I BOUGHT IT WITH 17K MILES AND THE ISSUE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED THIS COULD CAUSE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND ACCIDENTS IF IT FAILS ON HIGHWAYS.

CAR SHAKES WHEN COASTING BETWEEN. 2K RPMS AND 3K RPMS CAR STARTS TO HESITATE AND ONLY WAY TO STOP THE SHAKING IS STEP OPN CLUTCH AND SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR OR STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS IT WILL BEGIN TO ACCELERATE AND SHAKE MORE AGGRESSIVELY BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL OPERATION WITHOUT SHAKING WHICH WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IF I WERE TO TRY TO MATCH SPEED WHILE ENTERING A FREE WAY OR AVOIDING A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT.
THE GETRAG MT-82 MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN MY MUSTANG HAS HAD A HISTORY OF SHIFTS THAT TAKE EXTRA EFFORT, CLUNKY SHIFT ENGAGEMENT, AND A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE FROM THE DRIVETRAIN UNDER THROTTLE APPLICATION, SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED 5 YEARS AGO. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AT A FORD DEALER, BUT THEY SAY NOTING IS WRONG. THE WHINE IS PRESENT EVERY TIME I DRIVE, THE OTHER ISSUES ARE INTERMITTENT. IN THE MOST ODD INCIDENT THAT I HAD IN THE VEHICLE, I WAS IN 2ND GEAR UNDER THROTTLE AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE WILDLY BACK AND FORTH, WITH A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS DRIVING A COUNTY BACK ROAD WITH NOBODY IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC AND IT WAS IN OVERDRIVE AS MY SPEED WAS APPROX. 60 MPH. WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE SHIFTER, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR LOCKING THE REAR WHEELS UNTIL MY SPEED WAS REDUCED AND THEY BEGAN TO ROLL AGAIN. FORD HAS A RECALL 16S19 THAT COVERS MY MUSTANG'S BUILD DATE AND LOCATION BUT SAID MY VIN WASN'T INCLUDED DESPITE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AND EXACT SAME PARTS IDENTIFIED BY A FORD TECHNICIAN THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FORD THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIRS TO A DANGEROUS CONDITION.

OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. IT HAS DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN FROM DIFFERENT GEARS, IT HAS STAYED LOCKED IN GEAR ON SEVERAL GEARS AND IT HAS STAYED IN A HIGH GEAR WHILE STOPPED, SO IT IS VERY SLOW LEAVING A LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6 TIMES OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. NO TROUBLE CODES OR LIGHTS (MIL OR WRENCH) HAVE BEEN THROWN OR LIT UP DURING THE INCIDENTS. THE CAR SEEMS TO RIGHT ITSELF AFTER A FEW MINUTES. HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A LONG PERIOD AND IS COLD. TOOK THE CAR TO GLENN FORD IN NICHOLASVILLE, KY AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOING AND IF IT WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL THAT THEY PERFORMED (16N02/16S19) ON THE CAR BACK IN FEB 2017. SHIFT SOLENOID D : VEH IS PART OF RECALL 16S19 AND RECALL 16N02. THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTING STILL AT WITHOUT WARNING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THIS DEVICE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL, AND FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS DEFECT ALTHOUGH IT IS CLEARLY A PART OF THE SAME PROBLEM. FORD HAD ORDERED THESE TRANSMISSIONS FROM A MANUFACTURER IN CHINA, AND THEY'VE BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE FROM DAY ONE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ALLOW A GEAR CHANGE FROM FIRST TO SECOND IF THE RPM IS GRATER THAN 6000 RPM. THE CLUTCH PEDDLE RELEASES AT THE FLOOR. AFTER THE ENGINE HAS SLOWED THE CLUTCH RETURNS TO NORMAL AND THE CAR CAN NOW BE SHIFTED INTO SECOND. IT MAY BE CAUSED BY TROUGH OUT BEARING OR SPRING TENSION ON THE CLUTCH ITS SELF. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR 3 MONTHS AGO. THE CAR ONLY HAS 46000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE READ OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME COMMON PROBLEM.
FRONT HOOD HAS PAINT PEELING ISSUE WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PURCHASE. AUTO TRANS DOESN'T SHIFT PROPERLY IN AT LEAST 1 OF THE FIRST 3 GEARS. IT BUCKS WHEN COLD IN WINTER WEATHER UNTIL CAR WARMS FOR AT LEAST 30 MINUTES.. FORD HAS HAD THE CAR ON 3 OCCASIONS WITHOUT FIXING THE ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE FIRST 3 SOLENOIDS IN TRANS WITHOUT SUCCESS. PURCHASED NEW. THESE 2 ISSUES REMAIN A BIG PROBLEM. ON ANOTHER NOTE, INTERIOR CABIN FLOODED DUE TO RAIN ENTERING THE COWL FROM A DESIGN FLAW. DEALERSHIP DETACHED A HOSE.
THE TRANSMISSION DOWNGEARS CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. IT OCCURS AT LOW SPEED AND AT HIGH SPEED. ALARMING WHEN TRAVELING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT 55 MPH.

SINCE I'VE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW I HAVE HAD RANDOM ISSUES WITH THE CAR. FIRST I'VE EXPERIENCED A HUGE ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION, IT MAKES A VIBRATING/SHAKING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING ON ANY STREET ANY SPEED. I HAVE OPERATED MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS BEFORE AND HAVE NEVER RAN ACROSS THIS. NO MATTER WHAT GEAR OR WHAT CONDITION IT CONSISTENTLY DOES THIS. FORD DEALER WAS TO NO HELP AT ALL. AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL START TO UNCONTROLLABLY SWERVE AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STARTS BLINKING, THIS ISSUE IS UNKNOWN TO ME WHY THIS HAPPENS AND HAS ALMOST PUT ME IN AN ACCIDENT. SECONDLY, THE ENTIRE IGNITION TUMBLER JUST POPPED OUT. I CAN PULL THE IGNITION OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN.

AT 61,499 THE VEHICLE AT A STOP ENTERING THE ROADWAY THE VEHICLE LURCHED AFTER A HARD SLAM IN THE TRANSMISSION THE RPMS WENT CRAZY AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY ROLLED INTO THE ROADWAY. THE SERVICE WRENCH LIGHT UP AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY GO 20 MPH. TOWED TO DEALER AND TOLD THE REPAIR WOULD COST $5600 - $5900. SERVICE DID NOT NOTIFY US OF THE SERVICE RECALLS. WARRANTY ENDED AT 60,000.
FORD REFUSING TO ACCEPT RECALL FOR CAR; CAR HAS ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. THE CAR WILL BE DRIVING AND WILL "HARD SHIFT" RANDOMLY. THE SPEEDOMETER GOES CRAZY AND I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN OR TURN OFF THE CAR FOR IT TO GO AWAY. RECALL EXISTS FOR MY MODELS TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME ( I BELIEVE I MEET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS ) ISSUED IN APRIL 2016, BUT IT IS NOT APPEARING FOR THE VIN OF THE VEHICLE. IF I DO NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS IT SHOULD BE EXTENDED FOR MY CAR.

YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THE 2012 MUSTANG HAS A DEFECTIVE PART CALLED A THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. FORD IS AWARE IT IS DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACING THIS PART FREE OF CHARGE PRIOR TO JANUARY 2015. CURRENTLY IT IS NOT UNDER A SAFETY RECALL BUT IT MOST CERTAINLY SHOULD BE. WHEN YOU DRIVE A CAR WITH THIS DEFECT YOUR CAN AN ACCELERATE, OR DECELERATE, AT ITS OWN WILL. IT DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE COMMANDS THE DRIVER GIVES. IT JUST SUDDENLY SLOWS OR SPEEDS UP AS IT LIKES. IF YOU HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED THIS IT MAY BE HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW UNSAFE THIS CAN BE.
