THIS HAS BEEN RECALLED AND WAS NOTIFIED IN DECEMBER 2013, THAT PARTS AND SERVICE WOULD BE AVAILABLE AT LOCAL DODGE/CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS. I HAVE CONTACTED TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, LEWIS FORD CHRYSLER DODGE FAYETTEVILLE, AR. AND EVERETT DODGE IN SPRINGDALE AR. AND WAS ADDED TO THERE LIST FOR REPAIR. IT IS NOW JUNE AND NO RESPONSE SO FAR. THIS VEHICLE IS USED TO TOW A HORSE TRAILER AND THERE IS SAFETY CONCERNS. THE RESPONSE FROM THE DEALERSHIPS, WAS THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND ARE WAITING, SO WHY IS IT, IT CAN BE ORDERED AND AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE WITH NO PROBLEMS BY MYSELF. *TR
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (N62/NHTSA 13V-528) TO HAVE THE TIE-ROD END REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY BROUGHT IT IN TO CONFIRM THE RECALL WAS NEEDED. IT WAS AND THEY PUT THE PARTS ON ORDER. CHRYSLER SUPPLIES MY DEALERSHIP WITH ONE SET OF PARTS AT A TIME. IT TAKES ABOUT TWO WEEKS TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS PER VEHICLE. I AM NUMBER 360 SOMETHING IN LINE TO GET THIS REPAIR. AT THIS RATE MY REPAIR WILL BE COMPLETED IN ABOUT 14 YEARS WHICH I BELIEVE IS A FAILURE TO REMEDY THIS DEFECT WITHIN A "REASONABLE TIME". I AM FORCED TO REPAIR THE PART AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THE NOTICE TOLD ME I COULD SUBMIT THE RECEIPT FOR REIMBURSEMENT BUT ONLY IF I HAD IT REPAIRED ALREADY BEFORE THE RECALL NOTICE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A TACTIC BY CHRYSLER TO AVOID MONETARY OR LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT....

RAN OVER A POTHOLE AT 65 MPH AND THE FRONT END VIOLENTLY SHOOK. HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND SLOW DOWN TO 50 MPH IN ORDER TO GAIN CONTROL. TOOK IT INTO NATIONAL TIRE AND BATTERY AND $1700 LATER, I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR SEMI TRUCK BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN OVER ME. VIOLENTLY SHAKES. VERY SCARY.

GOING DOWN I94 I DROVE OVER A VERY SMALL POT HOLE AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSS CONTROL. I SLOWED DOWN TO 45 ON A POSTED 70MILE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. IT HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES SCENTS. ALSO, IT WAS NOTED THE SWAY BAR LINKS WERE WORN OUT, AND THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM A FULL ALIGNMENT, BECAUSE THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE. THE CONSUMER HAD TO MANUALLY MOVE THE HEATER BLENDER DOOR, IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE HEAT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, WHICH WAS TRACED TO A FRAYED WIRE, AND EVENTUALLY FIXED. THE CONSUMER STATED A SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED HIM, NOTHING NEEDED TO BE DONE TO THE VEHICLE, AS FAR AS THE RECALL WAS CONCERNED, AFTER ONLY LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW SECONDS. *JB

THE LEFT TIE ROD BROKE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING A HOLE IN MY RIM, DENTS IN THE FENDER AND BUMPER AND DAMAGE TO THE LEFT BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THIS RECALL, THE DEALER FIXED THE BROKEN TIE ROD BUT DODGE WILL NOT COVER ANY DAMAGE LEFT ON MY TRUCK. IT NEEDS A NEW RIM AND DODGE STATED THAT THEY WILL NOW BE PAYING FOR MY RIM TO GET FIXED, WHICH WAS FINE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. I WAS ON MY WAY TO SEE MY DOCTOR IN WALTHAM ,MA. AND I TRAVEL THE MA.TURNPIKE AT 67MPH, AND EVERY BRIDGE SPAN OR BUMP IN THE ROAD SURFACE THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL I WENT TO THE BRAKE DOWN LANE AND BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO A DEAD STOP. IN THE 166 MILES FROM MY HOME TO THE DOCTOR OFFICE AND BACK HOME AGAIN I HAD TO STOP THIS TRUCK 15 TIMES. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I HAD TO PAY $1,699.31FOR THE DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSE BY A DEFECTIVE PART THAT NO ONE WANT TO REPLACE UNDER WHAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. CHRYSLER SAYS THAT BECAUSE OF THE YEAR AND MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE THAT IT WAS MY PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE REDESIGNED THE PART THAT CAUSE THIS PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND EVEN AFTER I PAY THE FIRST REPAIR BILL THE TRUCK...

I CALLED AGAIN TALKED TO DIFF PERSON / WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO PARTS TO FIX PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD NOT BE RECEIVING ANY UNTIL END OF JANUARY/ THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, KNOWING THAT IF THIS PART BREAKS IT COULD CAUSE MAJOR (CRASH OR DEATH WITHOUT WARNING ) THEIR WORDS . ON 3/21/12, I HAD MY TRUCK INSPECTED BY A DODGE DEALERSHIP AFTER GETTING A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. IT WAS SAFETY RECALL L16 LEFT TIE ROD. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FAULTY PART WITH A NEW PART TO REMEDY THE RECALL. IT WAS PART # CBRCL160-AA. ON 9/9/13, WHILE BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT, THE SAME MENTIONED "NEW" PART FRACTURED RENDERING MY TRUCK UNABLE TO BE STEERED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART FRACTURED JUST LIKE THE RECALL SAID THE ORIGINAL PART WAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO DOING. THE RECALL SAYS, "THE PROBLEM IS...THE LEFT TIE ROD BALL STUD ON YOUR TRUCK MAY FRACTURE UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS. THIS COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND/OR A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." THIS IS ALARMING TO ME AS IT POTENTIALLY PUT ME, MY PASSENGERS, AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY...
TRAVELING ON HWY AT 55 MPH WHEN TRUCK LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING POWER STEERING. NO WARNING. STEERED TO SIDE OF HWY AND STOPPED. HWY WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND 50 MORE YARDS I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN MIDDLE OF ROAD BECAUSE NO SHOULDER WITH CONSTRUCTION. TRUCK RESTARTED, AND I CONTINUED ON BECAUSE IN RURAL AREA. TRUCK STOPPED AGAIN IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION IN TOWN ABOUT 2HRS LATER. DEALER COULD NOT LOOK AT IT UNTIL NEXT DAY, SO I HAD TO DRIVE HOME (40 MI) AND HOPE I MADE IT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN MY TRUCK WENT INTO WHAT CONSUMERS ARE CALLING "THE DEATH WOBBLE." THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY, MAKING IT HARD TO DRIVE. TWO YEARS AGO, THE TIE RODS AND STEERING DAMPER WERE REPLACED UNDER THE SERVICE WARRANTY. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT AND UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E009000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS INELIGIBLE BECAUSE THE RECALL DID NOT PERTAIN TO THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
