I need to address a serious issue regarding the car I purchased in 2020 from a private vendor. Upon taking the car to Crown Dodge Dealership in Ventura County for repair, I had to pay roughly $700 out of pocket for the service and rented a car from Hertz for the days I was without my car. However, upon receiving the car back, it still had unresolved issues with the electrical components and dashboard noise. It is unacceptable that the manager at the dealership did not prioritize my safety or the quality of the car I purchased. Since this car is my sole mode of transportation, I demand a prompt resolution to this matter. I expect immediate assistance in addressing these concerns. Thank you.
Was driving normally going 65 mph on the highway when white smoke was emitting from inside the steering wheel. Between the dashboard and steering wheel. Engine was fine and no warning lights came on. Everything ran great except for the white smoke. I don’t know what it could be. Luckily it didn’t catch on fire
The car has an intermittent issue where at highway speeds it will go into almost a limp mode. Basically the check engine light comes on and car loses power and won't go over 45 mph. I have to pull over and shut car off. It will restart and operate normally for a random period of time. Very dangerous when on the highway and have to pull over to the side of the road. From the forums I belong to, this is a very common problem. There are even members that have bought a brand new Challenger and had this happen to them after a few months. The code that usually appears from this is misfire on cylinder 1 and even the dealerships don't know what causes it and hard to diagnose since it happens randomly. Love the car but very annoyed that this keeps happening and no one can figure...

A LOCKSMITH WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THE KEY WAS REMOVED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES WHILE THE KEY WAS CEASED IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TALLAHASSEE DODGE (3987 W. TENNESSEE ST. TALLAHASSEE FL) WHO REPLACED THE IGNITION MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.*DT*JB

THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION REPAIR FOR THE SMART GLASS WINDOW SWITCH, WHICH CAUSED THE PASSENGER WINDOW TO OPEN INDEPENDENTLY, THE WINDOW NOT TO CLOSE SECURELY, THE BATTERY TO DRAIN, AND THE ENGINE NOT TO START. BOB BAKER DODGE (5555 CAR COUNTRY DRIVE, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, (760)-814-9664) DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER DOOR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED SMOKE AND A SPARK COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM POSSIBLY CATCHING ON FIRE. THE CONTACT THEN RECONNECTED THE BATTERY AND DROVE TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR IN THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS, THE ALTERNATOR AND COMPUTER INSIDE THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.

IT STARTED JULY 31,2019 AND WAS DIAGNOSED AUGUST 5 2019 TOOK TO DODGE DEALER AND TOLD THE TIPM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION WITH CHRYSLER DODGE FIAT WITH THIS MALFUNCTION MY AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE NOW ON , WINDOWS DO NOT WANT TO ROLL DOWN DOOR LOCKS ARE MALFUNCTIONING NOW AS WELL SO I COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE MY VEHICLE WHILE WAITING FOR DODGE TO GET THE PART IN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
MY PASSENGER DOOR LATCH WENT OUT. THERE'S A RECALL FOR 2011 CHALLENGERS BUT NOT 2010. MY 2010 HAS THE SAME ISSUES AS THE 2011 RECALLS. I HAD TO REPLACE MY DOOR LATCH BECAUSE MY WINDOW KEPT JUMPING UP AND DOWN WHILE MY CAR WAS OFF AND KILLED MY BATTERY. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT OR WHAT WAS CAUSING MY WINDOW TO JUMP UP AND DOWN. I HAD TO TELL THEM I READ ONLINE THAT THE LATCH WAS THE ISSUE. AFTER REPLACING THE LATCH THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED BUT TWO WEEKS LATER I ROLLED MY WINDOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING AND IT WILL NOT COME BACK UP. OF THE 2011 CHALLENGERS HAVE THE RECALL WHY DOESN'T THE 200 HAVE THE SAME RECALL BECAUSE THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES.

THANK GOD I DID NOT HOP ON THE ROAD BUT WAS WASHING THE CAR. 3 MONTHS LATER, STILL DO NOT HAVE THE CAR AS DODGE STOPS MAKING HEADLINERS AND WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ONE AT A JUNKYARD.

DURING ITS MOST RECENT SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE ON MAY 25, 2018, THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT MY 2010 CHALLENGER SRT8 WITH 56,000 MILES HAS AN OIL LEAK THAT IS LEAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CRANKSHAFT AND THE DODGE CHALLENGER SERPENTINE/DRIVE BELT IS SPRAYING OIL ALL OVER THE PLACE UNDER THE HOOD, ON THE ENGINE AND DIRECTLY INTO THE ALTERNATOR WHICH THE DODGE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED COULD CAUSE A FIRE! I CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES CUSTOMER CARE (CASE NUMBER 34409843) AND PROVIDED DETAIL WITH AFTER 5 CUSTOMER CARE AGENTS ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS PROMISING ME A CALLBACK (NEVER RECEIVED) WISHED ME GOOD LUCK WITH HAVING DODGE ADDRESS THE ENGINE OIL LEAK / FIRE HAZARD. I HAVE INQUIRED WITH TWO OTHER LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND BOTH INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8. ON JULY 3, 2018, I ONCE...
THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO RUN WHEN KEY IS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THE CAR CAN CONTINUE TO BE OPERATED. CANNOT GET THE CAR TO TURN OFF. THIS HAPPENS WHEN WE ARE TRYING TO TURN THE CAR OFF AFTER PARKING IT.

I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR ON A BUSY FREEWAY WHEN MY ABS LIGHT TURNED ON LIGHTS IN THE PANEL START TO FLICKER AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THIS IS ONE OF MANY OCCURANCES ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP UNDER MY MOPAR SERVICE CONTRACT AND THEY REPLACED ALTERNATOR. ONE MONTH LATER ENGINE TURNS OFF AGAIN. 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS.

MY CAR LOST COMPLETE POWER WHILE TURNING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE VEHICLE IS DEAD AND WILL NOT START. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. THIS IS A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER HAVING A TIMING CHAIN RECALL REPAIR. DID THE CHAIN FAIL ANYWAY?

THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED, AND THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,200.
PURCHASED NEW IN 11/2010. 2 YEARS INTO OWNERSHIP, ON ABOUT 4 OCCURANCES, ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF, LOOSE STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES AT THE SAME TIME WHILE MAKING A SLOW RIGHT HAND TURN. PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE OF SOME KIND. NOW 3 YEARS LATER IT HAS STARTED DOING IT AGAIN EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. WHEN THE ENGINE DIES YOU CAN BARELY STEER AND HAVE TO REALLY PULL HARD ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP FROM GOING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WHAT I HAVE FOUND IS ABOUT A HUNDRED OTHER DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS ON SEVERAL FORUM SITES DESCRIBING EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. NOBODY HAD AN ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM AND FOUND JUST AS MANY DIFFERENT THINGS THAT PEOPLE SAID WERE WRONG RANGING...
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN TRAFFC AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN AND IT WOULD NOT CRANK UP ,I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL IS NOT PUMPING GAS INTO TTHE CAR.AND THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. CHRYSLER SAYS ITS THE ACC PEDAL SENSOR
MY SON WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD IN THE CITY GOING STRAIT AHEAD AND NOTICED THE BATTERY LIGHT HAD COME ON, VERY QUICKLY HE THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR, UNDER THE HOOD. FORTUNATELY HE WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY EXIT THE ROADWAY AND GET INTO A PARKING LOT. HE OPENED THE HOOD AND MORE SMOKE CAME OUT. HE CALLED ME (HIS FATHER) AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I ASKED IF IT WAS ON FIRE AND CAUTIONED HIM TO GET BACK AND TO LET IT COOL DOWN. HE LET IT COOL DOWN AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER AT THIS TIME. DOOR LOCKS AND TRUNK LATCH WOULD NOT FUNCTION. AFTER PUTTING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND REALIZING THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD HE ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RELEASE THE KEY, THEREFORE...

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

I WAS SOLD THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE WIRELESS IGNITION, IT WAS NOT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION AND I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT IT DUE TO ME TRYING TO GET HELP FOR THE OTHER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG. I HAVE BASICALLY BEEN TOLD MY LIFE DOES NOT MATTER, I AM EXPECTED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE EVEN THOUGH IT HAS 2 SERIOUS SAFETY RECALLS THAT HAS ALREADY CAUSED DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURY.

2 DAYS PRIOR TO FAILURE I NOTICED A WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AFTER WHICH THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEN UNTIL 4/2/15. I HEARD A TERRIBLE WHINE AND THEN SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY, I WAS A BLOCK AWAY FROM MY HOUSE SO I PULLED IT INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE ALTERNATOR. THE ALTERNATOR WINDINGS WERE BLACK AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THE MDS SOLENOID WIRING TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD MELTED AND THAT THE ENGINE HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT IT WOULD BE $2000 OUT OF POCKET TO ME. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER...

THE MANUAL STATES TO TAKE THESE ACTIONS "IF THE LIGHT COMES ON WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, SAFELY BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, PLACE THE SHIFT LEVER IN PARK, AND CYCLE THE IGNITION KEY. THE LIGHT SHOULD TURN OFF. IF THE LIGHT REMAINS LIT WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, YOUR VEHICLE WILL USUALLY BE DRIVABLE. HOWEVER, SEE AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR SERVICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE." IF THE LIGHT IS FLASHING WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, IMMEDIATE SERVICE IS REQUIRED.
