Was driving and a tick was present then over heated sat on side of road until cooled down added coolant drove home . The next day car was drivable. Drove to school and car was sounding funny so took it to a repair shop and they told me the particular engine in the vehicle has a fuel efficient component where it shuts down the cylinders on the freeway, and the lifters are supposed to open, but our lifter did not open. It got stuck and grind the camshaft in the motor. Needless to say I had to have the car towed home. It’s just sitting in my parking lot. I tried calling Dodge. They wouldn’t help me. I tried calling multiple agencies to help. I looked up on the Internet and there is multiple complaints about the same problem it’s called the hemi lift so hopefully one day this can...

I need to address a serious issue regarding the car I purchased in 2020 from a private vendor. Upon taking the car to Crown Dodge Dealership in Ventura County for repair, I had to pay roughly $700 out of pocket for the service and rented a car from Hertz for the days I was without my car. However, upon receiving the car back, it still had unresolved issues with the electrical components and dashboard noise. It is unacceptable that the manager at the dealership did not prioritize my safety or the quality of the car I purchased. Since this car is my sole mode of transportation, I demand a prompt resolution to this matter. I expect immediate assistance in addressing these concerns. Thank you.
I experienced a catastrophic timing chain failure despite prior recall work being performed by Dodge that supposedly resolved their known timing chain issues with the 5.7L hemi with automatic transmission. This failure occurred without any prior warning at a cruising speed of about 65 MPH rendering the car undrivable. There were no warning lights, drivability issues, or signs of the impending failure. This is a well-maintained car with only 80,000 miles, never missing a required oil change and other maintenance tasks. Timing chains should not fail at such low milage - indeed, timing belts will last longer before they fail. This failure occurred on a major highway placing me and other motorists in danger from the car being unmovable and potentially causing a high-speed collision on a 70 MPH highway. The contact owns a 2010 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. Additionally, the low engine oil warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred approximately three or four times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The Gen III hemi has an inherent design flaw in which the rollers making contact with the camshaft will fail, causing damage to the camshaft and causing the engine to misfire. This is due to the camshaft being moved away from the crankshaft as it causes oil starvation. After extensive research it appears to affect cars of various miles and workload. There is no single cause that makes this happen other than a grievous design flaw. The main complaint is that you experience total power loss at higher revs, making it dangerous to drive on the interstate or attempting to merge into traffics as the engine begins to shudder and lose most power. Whether it’s 40K miles or 110K miles, the flaw does not discriminate. After numerous attempts to reach Chrysler technical service on how to prevent this, I’ve been ignored and case numbers deleted. Now this is very important....
The car has an intermittent issue where at highway speeds it will go into almost a limp mode. Basically the check engine light comes on and car loses power and won't go over 45 mph. I have to pull over and shut car off. It will restart and operate normally for a random period of time. Very dangerous when on the highway and have to pull over to the side of the road. From the forums I belong to, this is a very common problem. There are even members that have bought a brand new Challenger and had this happen to them after a few months. The code that usually appears from this is misfire on cylinder 1 and even the dealerships don't know what causes it and hard to diagnose since it happens randomly. MY CAR WONT START I REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY A FEW TIMES. BUT SOMTHING KEEPS DRAINING THE BATTERY. WHERE I HAVE BEEN STALLED ON HIGHWAY 5 LATE AT NIGHT.
SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO SAFETY RECALL. DIAGNOSIS IS DEFECTIVE RECALL PART. CAR STALLED AT DEALERSHIP GOING ON 3 WEEKS. MANUFACTURE DOES NOT WANT TO COMPLETE WORK UNTIL MANUFACTURER APPROVES WARRANTY. FCA LLC IS YET TO APPROVE.
CAR HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 60 MPH. SEEMS LIKE LOSES POWER AND FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF. HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTARTS WITH NO ISSUES. KIND OF DANGEROUS WHEN YOU LOSE POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING TOO.
THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE FOR THE SECOND TIME. IT BROKE THE FIRST TIME AT 65K+ MILES. IT WAS FIXED (OF MUCH DAMAGE) VIA THE PO1 CUSTOMER CARE "RECALL". NOW IT'S AT APPROX. 104K MILES, IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER DENIED TAKING RESPONSIBILITY AND MY CLAIM.
2014 TIMING BELT WAS RECALLED AND APPARENTLY REPAIRED. CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND THEN ENGINE SEIZED. HAD IT TOWED AND SERVICE SAID IT WAS TIMING BELT AGAIN AND NOW ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CALLED DODGE, THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN OR WANT TO DO.
THE ENGINE DIES RANDOMLY SOMETIMES RIGHT AFTER STARTING AND SOMETIMES AT ROAD AND/OR HIGHWAY SPEED'S IT WILL READILY RESTART WITH THE KEY AND RUN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT RANDOM ACT. IT HAS DIED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS ONCE IN A CURVE THAT CAUSED THE CAR TO DRIFT IN ON COMING TRAFFIC BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT LUCKILY THERE WAS NO OPPOSING TRAFFIC. IT SHOWS NO ENGINE CODES.
A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2015 REGARDING A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. THIS CAR SAT IN A DEALER LOT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND RARELY DRIVE IT. A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE STALLED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. A CHRONIC ISSUE ACCORDING TO MOST FORUMS, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 73,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED REGARDLESS OF MONTHS,OF THE FACT THAT IT WAS MORE THAN 24 MONTHS. IT IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE CAR FOR THE YEAR AND THIS IS ON ONGOING ISSUE FROM THESE VEHICLES FROM 2009-2012.

I CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES CUSTOMER CARE (CASE NUMBER 34409843) AND PROVIDED DETAIL WITH AFTER 5 CUSTOMER CARE AGENTS ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS PROMISING ME A CALLBACK (NEVER RECEIVED) WISHED ME GOOD LUCK WITH HAVING DODGE ADDRESS THE ENGINE OIL LEAK / FIRE HAZARD. MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SRT8 COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. IT DOES THIS REPEATEDLY WHILE DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS. ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS BUT THE POWER STEERING MAKES IT VERY HARD TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHICH MAKES IT VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC OR ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK PRESS MY IGNITION START BUTTON TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. I WAS GOING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR ON A BUSY FREEWAY WHEN MY ABS LIGHT TURNED ON LIGHTS IN THE PANEL START TO FLICKER AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THIS IS ONE OF MANY OCCURANCES ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP UNDER MY MOPAR SERVICE CONTRACT AND THEY REPLACED ALTERNATOR. ONE MONTH LATER ENGINE TURNS OFF AGAIN. 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS.

THIS TIME I TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 2 1/2 DAYS THEY SAY IT'S THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE, OR THE TIPM.

THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED, AND THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED RAPIDLY. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,200.
MY 5.7-LITER HEMI ENGINE HESITATED SIX TIMES AND THE ENGINE COMPUTER REGISTERED THIS MALFUNCTION EACH TIME, BUT NEVER SET A CODE WHICH THE DEALER MECHANICS COULD READ TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. EACH MALFUNCTION CORRECTED ITSELF IN A FEW SECONDS, BUT THE LAST HESITATION WAS A STRONG ONE DURING WHICH THE ENGINE RAN VERY ROUGHLY FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES BEFORE RUNNING SMOOTHLY AGAIN. IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING ON ONE OR MORE CYLINDERS. EACH MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WHILE I WAS PASSING OTHER VEHICLES IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A HIGHWAY WITH THE ENGINE UNDER ACCELERATION LOAD. WHEN I EASED OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE HESITATION DISAPPEARED AND I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE EACH VEHICLE PASS, BUT EACH PASS THUS TOOK LONGER AND PUT ME MORE AT POTENTIAL RISK OF COLLIDING WITH ONCOMING VEHICLES. MYSTERY SHUTDOWN. INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS-SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING & LOSE STEERING & BRAKES. TERRIFYING. I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO KILL ME & MY PASSENGERS. IT'S HAPPENED 7-9TIMES, 3X W 5 PASSENGERS. AVE 1/10K MILES. NO COMMON FACTOR (SLOW, FAST, RAPID DOWNSHIFT, CORNERING, STRAIGHT, SIDE STREETS, COUNTRY RDS, HIGHWAYS, PARKING LOTS). FOOT MAY HAVE BEEN ON BRAKE DURING ALL. DEALERSHIP FOUND NOTHING WRONG/NO ERROR CODES. CLEANED THROTTLE BODY & THEY SENT AWAY. NEXT TIME THROTTLE BODY VERIFIED CLEAN. JULY 2012 DEALERSHIP SAID NO FLASH TO FIX. I TOLD THEM HOW DANGEROUS IT IS. THEY GAVE ME A CHRYSLER CARE NUMBER TO FILE A COMPLAINT/GET A CASE STARTED ON IT. THEY WANTED SRT SPECIALISTS IN THE LOOP. OTHER ELECTRICAL BUGS- NOT RECOGNIZING THE FOBS. FOB HAS BEEN LOCKED IN THE CAR TWICE. MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER RT WILL STALL WHEN MAKING A SLOW RIGHT HAND TURN, WHICH IN TURN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST THREE YEARS. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM PER THE ONLINE CHALLENGER BLOGS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED CALLING THE MANUFACTURER. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THE DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS.
WHILE DRIVIVG ON MY WAY HOME DOING ABOUT 60MPH IN THE RIGHT LANE ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I COULDN'T EVEN STEER THE CAR, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP NO BREAKING CAPEABILITY, HAD TO LET THE CAR COAST INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, LUCKLY THERE WEREN'T ANY CARS IN FRONT OR BEHAIND ME. WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE PUT THE CAR IN PARK TURNED OFF THER IGNITION, TURNED ON THE IGNITION PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND THE CAR WOULD MOVE, PUT IT BACK IN PARK TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AGAIN, STARTED IT AGAIN PUT IN DRIVE. *JS
I WAS TRAVELING ON SR 10 EASBOUND AND AFTER PASSING THE FL STATE LINE COMING FROM ALABAMA, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT THE ENGINE STOPPED. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DODGE DEALERSHIP TO PENSACOLA, FL. THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY THE BROKEN TIMING BELT CHAIN THAT DODGE HAS A NATIONAL RECALL ON. THE REPAIR COST OF THE DAMAGE IS $4500 (VALVES, CYLINDER-HEAD ETC.) AND DODGE WOULD NOT GIVE AUTHORIZATION TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR IT FREE OF CHARGE TO ME CLAIMING THAT THE CAR HAS A REBUILT TITLE. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE, IT'S A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT MY CAR WAS IN A SMALL ACCIDENT AND IT'S REAR WAS REPAIRED BY USING ORIGINAL PARTS. IT WAS INSPECTED AND GIVEN NOT A SALVAGE BUT A REBUILT TITLE THAT IS A MARKETABLE TITLE.I BELIEVE...
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 35 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER RT TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED MY THERE WAS ISSUES WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT WAS THE REASON FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND THAT THERE WOULD BE NO CHARGE TO ME FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN. WHEN I PICKED UP MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT A WEEK LATER THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO DIAGNOSE IT FURTHER. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE INFORMED ME THE MDS SOLENOID WIRING TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD MELTED AND THAT THE ENGINE HARNESS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY OR MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THAT IT WOULD BE $2000 OUT OF POCKET TO ME. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER...
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND DECELERATING TO ENTER I40 WEST OF ASHVILLE, NC. ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A SAFE STOP AT THE RIGHT SHOULDER. IF THE FAILURE HAD HAPPENED 10 MILES FARTHER THEIR WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ENOUGH SHOULDER ON EITHER SIDE. TOWED CAR TO DODGE DEALER, WAS INFORMED NEXT DAY THAT TIMING CHAIN FAILED (5.7 L HEMI AUTO ). VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT DEALER 1 WEEK PREVIOUSLY AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE TIMING CHAIN RECALL WERE ON BACK ORDER AND IT WOULD BE 4-6 WEEKS TILL I COULD GET THE REPAIR. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST POWER TO THE ENGINE AND STEERING. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD BROKEN. WOW *TR

I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT IT DIDN'T QUIT ON ONE OF THE BACK ROADS I DRIVE EVERY DAY TO WORK, BECAUSE THERE ARE NO SHOULDERS TO PULL OVER ON, AND I WILL MOST LIKELY BE REAR ENDED WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN, AND I KNOW IT WILL.. TIMING CHAIN BROKE WHILE DRIVING. COMPLETE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. HAD IT HAPPENED LESS THAN 2 MILES EARLIER I WOULD HAVE BEEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS A MAJOR CONCERN TO ME BECAUSE I KNOW OF MORE THAT 50 CASES OF TIMING CHAIN FAILURE ON 2009 THRU 2011 CHALLENGERS WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS AND THE 5.7L V8 ENGINE. *TR
I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND MADE A STOP. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. HAD TO STOP THE CAR COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TO TURN IT BACK ON. *TR
ON 9/26/13 I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX. 60 MILES PER HOUR, I THEN SAW SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON THE DASH AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN A BRIDGE AND OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. AFTER A TEAR DOWN OF THE ENGINE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE ENGINE DAMAGE. 2 WEEKS LATER AND I'M STILL WAITING ON THE PARTS TO BE DELIVERED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE REPAIRS TO BE MADE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I SEE THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER DODGE CHALLENGER OWNERS WITH THIS YEAR AND ENGINE TYPE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE I HAVE DONE ALL OF THE REQUIRED SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE, I FEEL THAT I AM NOT AT FAULT FOR THIS...
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE GOING APPROXIMATELY 70-75 MPH IN MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T (AUTO TRANSMISSION). THE CYLINDERS DEACTIVATED FROM 8 TO 4 AND THEN I HEARD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE AND MY CAR LOST POWER. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE CAR ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN. I GOT THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE. MY CAR ONLY HAD 78,000 MILES SO A BROKEN TIMING CHAIN SEEMS UNUSUAL. I HAVE A 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T WITH A 5.7 L HEMI AT 35,192 MILES ON CAR. THE CAR HAS A LOUD BANG AND SHUTS OFF,. I TRY TO CRANK MY CAR , BUT NOTHING..
