The clutch stick broke while driving and putting it on gear.
The Gen III hemi has an inherent design flaw in which the rollers making contact with the camshaft will fail, causing damage to the camshaft and causing the engine to misfire. This is due to the camshaft being moved away from the crankshaft as it causes oil starvation. After extensive research it appears to affect cars of various miles and workload. There is no single cause that makes this happen other than a grievous design flaw. The main complaint is that you experience total power loss at higher revs, making it dangerous to drive on the interstate or attempting to merge into traffics as the engine begins to shudder and lose most power. Whether it’s 40K miles or 110K miles, the flaw does not discriminate. After numerous attempts to reach Chrysler technical service on how to prevent this, I’ve been ignored and case numbers deleted. Now this is very important....
CAR HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 60 MPH. SEEMS LIKE LOSES POWER AND FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF. HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTARTS WITH NO ISSUES. KIND OF DANGEROUS WHEN YOU LOSE POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING TOO.
2014 TIMING BELT WAS RECALLED AND APPARENTLY REPAIRED. CAR SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND THEN ENGINE SEIZED. HAD IT TOWED AND SERVICE SAID IT WAS TIMING BELT AGAIN AND NOW ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CALLED DODGE, THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN OR WANT TO DO.
A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN 2015 REGARDING A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. THIS CAR SAT IN A DEALER LOT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND RARELY DRIVE IT. A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE STALLED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. A CHRONIC ISSUE ACCORDING TO MOST FORUMS, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 73,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED REGARDLESS OF MONTHS,OF THE FACT THAT IT WAS MORE THAN 24 MONTHS. IT IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE CAR FOR THE YEAR AND THIS IS ON ONGOING ISSUE FROM THESE VEHICLES FROM 2009-2012.
ACCELERATED / STUCK TO FLOOR GOING DOWN HIGHWAY. WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK WOULD NOT RELEASE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SEALS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE A REMEDY TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO PROGRESS AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MARTIN DODGE JEEP CHRYSLER RAM (2209 SCOTTSVILLE RD, BOWLING GREEN, KY 42104-4105, (270) 846-0600) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER ONCE, BUT THE COMPUTER FAILED AGAIN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS REQUIRED AND THE PART MAY NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION AT 47,000 MILES IS HAVING A VERY HARD TIME SHIFTING INTO AND OUT OF GEAR AT IDLE. WITH CLUTCH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR IT WILL NOT GO INTO OR OUT OF FIRST GEAR OR REVERSE. WAS DRIVING ON 4TH OF JULY FOR A HOLIDAY CELEBRATION. SHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR AT 35 MPH AND THE SHIFTER HANDLE BROKE OFF. I HAD TO VERY CAREFULLY TURN AROUND AND DRIVE HOME WITH THIS BROKEN SHIFTER HANDLE. AT ONE POINT THE HANDLE CAME OUT OF THE MOUNT AND I HAD TO FIND THE HOLE AGAIN FOR THE SHIFT HANDLE WITH THE DUST BOOT OBSCURING MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING. SINCE IT WAS A HOLIDAY WEEKEND I DECIDED THIS WAS A TIME TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER HANDLE WITH THE HURST SHIFTER HANDLE SUPPLIED BY DODGE AS A PART OF MY AUTO PURCHASE USING MOPAR BUCKS. AFTER I INSTALLED THIS STRONGER SHIFTER/HANDLE I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE DEALER TO SHOW THEM THE OBVIOUS SAFELY HAZARD FROM THE BROKEN SHIFTER HANDLE. THE DEALER TOOK THIS OPPORTUNITY TO RIDICULE ME AND MAKE IT APPEAR THAT I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING...
2010 CHALLENGER SRT8 WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. 7800 MILES. TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25MPH. HAD TO APPLY BRAKES HARD TO STOP. ENGINE STALLED. HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. AFTER RESTARTING, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE. AFTER A FEW SECONDS TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND CAR WAS FUNCTIONING. COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE DANGEROUS. *TR

COASTED OFF TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE I WAS STRANDED WITH NO CELL SERVICE. ABLE TO GET HELP FROM A CHRYSLER SERVICE REP WHO HAPPENED TO HAVE A COMPUTER FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES. COMPUTER INDICATED "CAM SHAFT SENSOR FAILURE". REP ADVISED REMOVE SENSOR, LOOK TO SEE IF "GEAR" TURNS WHEN ENGINE IS CRANKED. IF GEAR TURNED THEN TIMING CHAIN OK, AND IT WAS JUST A BAD SENSOR. IF GEAR DIDN'T TURN THEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE. VEHICLE TOWED HOME AND SENSOR REMOVED. GEAR DIDN'T TURN WHEN ENGINE CRANKED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO DEALER. MY 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T ROUGHLY SAT FOR 2-3 WINTER MONTHS, DRIVEN 2-3 TIMES DURING THAT PERIOD. WHILE STARTING IT UP IN FEBRUARY THE CAR STARTED THEN STALLED OUT. 2010 DODGE CHALLENGER SE, RIGHT REAR CV BOOT RIPPED AND LEAKED GREASE ONTO THE TAIL PIPE AND PASSENGER SIDE, AND WHICH CAUSED A FIRE TO THE TRUNK. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS, NO REPAIRS CAN BE MADE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE MADE A POP SOUND AND LOST POWER. I WAS FORCED OFF THE HIGHWAY AS THERE WERE NO SHOULDERS AND HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE ACROSS TRAFFIC TO SAFETY. WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 CHALLENGER RT 4.7L HEMI ON THE CA 15 FREEWAY AT 70 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR ENGINE AND OIL CAME ON AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. STEERING AND BRAKES REMAINED OPERATIONAL AND LUCKILY I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER AS THE 15 FREEWAY IS EXTREMELY BUSY AND FAST. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY DODGE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY PLASTIC TIMING CHAIN GUIDES HAD DISINTEGRATED AND CAUSED A BLOWN ENGINE. THE CAR REPAIRS (REBUILT ENGINE) WERE COVERED UNDER THE 100K MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT TOOK 4 WEEKS TO COMPLETE. THE CAR HAD 54K FREEWAY MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WAS REGULARLY MAINTAINED, AND NEVER SHOWED ANY INDICATIONS THAT A SEVERE ISSUE WOULD HAVE BEEN FORTHCOMING. I NOW QUESTION THE LONGEVITY OF THE NEW REBUILT ENGINE AS SAME TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY PARTS WERE...
I'VE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AS MANY HAVE DESCRIBED WHEN YOUR CHALLENGER LOSES ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT LOW SPEEDS. LUCKILY I WAS PULLING INTO A CAR WASH WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NOT AT MY SONS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHERE THE DEADLY POTENTIAL OF KILLING SCHOOL KIDS WAS THERE...BY THE WAY I WAS ON THE WAY TO PICK UP MY KID WHEN I MADE A LAST MINUTE CHOICE TO GET A QUICK WASH. NOT KNOWING THIS WAS AN ISSUE THAT OTHERS WERE HAVING, I OPENED THE HOOD AND STARTED LOOKING FOR LOSE CABLES OR POPPED CAPS AND SUCH AND FINDING NOTHING. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, THE VEHICLE JERKED INTO FOURTH GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. 2010 SRT8 CHALLENGER STALLS AFTER RUNNING HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70-80 MPH) ON SLOW DOWN AS TO GET OFF A EXIT RAMP, OR TO TURN INTO A REST STOP, GAS STATION. PROPER SPEED TO GEAR RATIO ASSUMED. CLUTCH FULLY SUPPRESSED OR WHILE MOVING. ALSO STALLS ON TAKE OFF (TRAFFIC LIGHT, STOP SIGN) IN ROLLING CONDITION, AGAIN PROPER SPEED TO GEAR RATIO ASSUMED. IDENTIFIERS: LOW OIL LIGHT, NO STEERING, ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES OF A STALLED VEHICLE. SOMETIMES WILL START IMMEDIATELY SOMETIMES NOT. DEALER STATES NO CODES NO ISSUES. *TR
THE CAR STALLS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I HAVE HAD IT STALL IN TRAFFIC AND AT INTERSECTIONS AND HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT A FEW TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT A DOZEN TIMES IN THE 4500 MILES ON THE CAR. IT IS VERY SCARY. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR FOR OVER TWO WEEKS WITH NO END IN SIGHT. THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS ON THE 13TH OF AUGUST. THE CAR SOMETIMES WILL NOT MOVE AFTER IT IS RESTARTED AND MUST BE TURNED ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT WILL DRIVE. *TR
2010 DODGE CHALLENGER R/T AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE TURNING RIGHT CAR STALLS AND COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF REQUIRING THE CAR TO BE PUT INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. FORTUNATELY ON BOTH OCCASIONS MY WIFE WAS NOT REAR ENDED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS OCCURRED SINCE OWNING THE CAR. DEALERSHIP WAS "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE" THE ISSUE AND NO FIX IS KNOWN. SRT ENGINEERS HAVE STATED IN ONLINE FORUMS THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ARE WORKING ON A FIX. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL DODGE VEHICLE MODELS, BASED ON THE NUMBER OF OWNERS POSTING STORIES ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. *TR
