This car is totally unsafe and is going to cause serious injury. When initially trying to accelerate this car jerks uncontrollably and doesn’t go. It stalls something serious then all of a sudden propels itself forward into traffic!!! Making other ppl swerve around me frantically. I can’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign then go when it’s my turn without the car talking a big stalling leap of death. Not to mention when coming to a stop it often cuts off due to something being wrong with the oil system causing it to burn too much oil. I’ve never had a car that I had to put oil in continuously even though my oil changes (via Chrysler) are on time. Horrible thing is Chrysler says they know the car does this but won’t FIX IT!!! This lemon is going to take me out.

I purchased this car a yr ago and have complained about the transmission since the beginning along with oil issues and power issues. They refused to fix it. The car downshifts and throws itself forward and it's almost caused numerous accidents. There's times the car will not go forward and when you hit the gas a little it revs and shoots forward. Multiple times, regardless of repairs done. The transmission keeps hard shifting in and out of 5th gear. One time to the point where I couldn't shifts gears (stuck in 4th) and was stuck at speeds under 45 mph on a busy freeway.

Vehicle lost power and was lucky we weren't rear ended on the road by the Cars behind or cause an accident. Looking at this is year there are several complaints with the same issue. The contact's stepdaughter owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to move out of neutral(N). The contact also stated that the “Parking Brake Service" message was displayed and check engine warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V090000 (Power Train) which he linked to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I own a 2015 Chrysler 200S With 27,000 miles on it and I’m currently having the transmission completely replaced due to failure. The automotive shop that is working on the vehicle tells me that the transmission fluid is completely burnt and has metal in it. There was never any warning signs that there was a condition going on until the day that the car went in the shop and the transmission light came on. I have the car at the dealership in November 2021 and all they could tell me at the time was that this particular model car tends to shift hard When I complained to them about the issues I was having. I feel like the dealership should have looked further into the matter because now I am spending $6000 to replace the transmission.

The car says service transmission while driving and automatically shuts down while still in drive you can’t put the car into any other gear and actually have to shut the car off while still in drive . Let me start by saying I was in love with my 200S but lately she been acting up. 1) I was driving on multiple occasions now when I’ll hear a chim sound(Warning light with nothing laminated on the dashboard) car loses all power and shuts off completely no matter where on the freeway and surface streets 2mins later car starts up. The latest incident came a week ago when I was pulling in a drive way car shut off completely while traffic was coming almost causing a major crash (Thank God Nobody didn’t get hurt) other motorists got out to help push it to safety. I have had my 2015 Chrysler 200 for about a year now and ever since I have had it. it has acted weird. Evetime I am driving down a hill at a slow pace, i loose power as if my car just switched to Neutral. It also jerks a lot when I am stopped on a hill going up and I start to go, then it will jerk like its delayed in the gears. I am very concerned for my safety. I have seen other recalls similar to this and I am hoping we can get this one on a recall as well. I have not had my car inspected yet because I cant afford it.

My car is not shifting correctly after the recent recall for a software update. My engine light came on the very next day. The problem happens mostly on the highway as I try to accelerate. My car runs between 3500-4500 RPMs on the highway unless I am going downhill. I have to keep letting off the gas in order for the car to shift. I am not entering the highway at a safe speed because my car will not go. I am afraid this is going to cause a wreck. I am not sure if this is along the same problem, but my remote start stopped working correctly at the same time. The car just dangerously shuts off without warning while driving in traffic. The Battery is new, and all fluids are full. This is the second time, in less than a month, that this dangerous shutdown has happened. Both times being while the car is in motion. My vehicle has been recalled but I’m noticing problems with my transmission when in switching gears. Sometimes it shifts into neutral, my radio shuts off periodically and my seat fills a lot thinner then the passenger seat. This car is shutting off and losing power while driving putting me as well as other motorists in danger due to this occurring without warning and under any rate and direction of motion. I have loss power causing my emergency brakes to initiate causing the car to immediately stop. I was crossing an intersection when the car shut off. When the vehicle accelerates, the gear shift is harsh and very scary to the point it feels like the car is gonna fall apart. When decelerating, the same thing a occurs. At one point the whole car shifted to the side while attempting to accelerate or decelerate. When making a turn and mainly a U-turn, the steering feels like it's harsh and feels like it will break if it was turned too far or too hard accidentally. The gear shifting/transmission does not shift very smoothly at all times. Its scary when it switches gears. Both accelerating and decelerating in the middle of the highway whether going from 60mph to 70 mph feel or 60mph going down to 40mph. I'm sure it was steering and gear shifting issue because I felt it myself. It sure could be engine problem on the top of that as well. Thank you!

The contact topped off the oil level however, after a month the contact checked the oil again and noticed that the oil level was very low. Chrysler 200 (2015) engine shuts down with no notice. I have to literally stop, put the car in park and restart the ignition in the middle of the road to get the car moving again. Mostly when deacceleration (turning a corner/slowing down for a traffic stop, going over a bump, etc.). The electrical system just shuts off. Notice that the temperature outside is usually warm. Seems to do better in cooler weather. The car does not get hot (temperature gauge has been tested). Oil is full and gets regular changes. It is Extremely Dangerous. The car displays several symptoms of other recalls on the exact same model. It has high vibration when sitting idle and while driving, the car also has issues in shifting gears on it's own, either while trying to decrease speed, or increase speed. As if it is stuck in gear. The car is an automatic. On top of this, when taking off, the car jerks and stalls in power, instead of going forward as it should, making pulling out incredibly dangerous. Again, these are all symptoms of recalls that have been made on these exact models of cars. While driving, my car will accelerate when depressing the brake. If cruise control is set to say 60 mph, the car will continue to accelerate well after the desired speed has been reached. When pressing the brake to disengage cruise control, the car will still try to accelerate for about 10 seconds, even while depressing the brake. I'm not sure if that is related to this, or if it is a separate issue, but my car will also stall out when coming to a stop or slowing down, especially if braking hard. Since purchasing my car, I’ve experienced at least 9 instances of the vehicle completely cutting off, while driving. I have one of these incidents on video. The car will cut off, tell me to “Shift to Park and hit the Start button” while in traffic, posing severe danger to myself and other drivers. There are recalls describing this exact problem, yet my VIN number is not included in the recall. Most recently, my vehicle stalled/cut off immediately after getting an oil change. CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE BRAKING, AND TURNS EVERYTHING OFF. IT ALSO 'LOCKS' THE BRAKE, AND TAKES MINUTES TO RELEASE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL LIGHTS TURN OFF, PUSH TO START WON'T WORK, AND ENGINE WILL NOT START. THE CAR CUTS OFF AT THE MOST INOPPORTUNE TIMES, AND MAKES DRIVING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT'S BEEN SHUTTING OFF MORE FREQUENTLY, AND FOR LONGER MOMENTS AT A TIME. THIS USUALLY OCCURS ON STREET'S BUT HAS OCCURRED IN TWO DRIVE-THRUS. ON ONE OCCASION THE CAR SHUT OFF MID-TURN. AGAIN THIS MAKES DRIVING INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, AND IS FRUSTRATING AND INCONVENIENT. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION SO DRIVING HAS BECOME A RISK.

THE VEHICLE WOULD CUT OFF AFTER STARTING & DRIVING A VERY SHORT DISTANCE THEN THE CHECK ENGINE/FLASHING LIGHTNING BOLT WOULD COME ON. ONCE THE CAR WAS OFF AND THEN RESTARTED, THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF AND IT MIGHT RUN FINE AS LONG AS YOU DIDN'T ACCELERATE TOO QUICKLY & DROVE A GOOD DISTANCE WITHOUT HAVING TO STOP AND START A LOT. THE ISSUE WOULD ARISE MORE WHEN DRIVING SHORT DISTANCES WITH CONSTANT STOPS & TIGHT TURNS OR SOMETIMES WHEN HAVING TO DE-ACCELERATE QUICKLY. ONCE THE CAR WAS OFF FOR A SECOND THEN RESTARTED, THE ONLY LIGHT THAT WOULD SOMETIMES STAY ON WOULD BE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THEREFORE, I TOOK THE CAR TO AN O'REILLYS FOR A FREE TEST & THE ONLY CODES THAT CAME BACK WAS P0302 - CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE & P2172 - THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. THE ISSUE HAD GOTTEN WORSE SO I HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE...

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS AS THE SHIFT TO PARK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE GEAR SHIFTER DISLODGED IN PARK. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER PUMPED THE BRAKE PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SHIFTER TO ENGAGE CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC FAILED TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE PERFORMING A VIN SEARCH, THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V090000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
