WHILE DRIVING POWER STEERING FAILED, LEAVING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 74,000 MILES IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK SHOULD BE REPLACED AND ONLY A DEALER CAN REPROGRAM THAT RACK. IT IS A COST OF OVER $3,000 AND WITH A PRIOR MINIMAL RECALL I SMELL A LARGER QUALITY ISSUE.
DRIVING IN HIGHWAY AND THE POWER STEERING WHEEL BECOMES EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN MOVE IT COMPLETELY ELECTRIC SHUT OFF IT WAS IN DANGEROUS SITUATION VEHICLE RUNNING AND AND CAN'T EVEN MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL DASHBOARD SHOWED POWER STEERING NEED SERVICE. WENT TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY FOR FEW MINS AND WENT BACK TO CAR AND TURN ON WORK BACK TO NORMAL THIS WILL BE THE SECOND TIME HAPPEN 1ST WAS ON THE GARAGE TURN ENGINE BUT STEERING WHEEL WONT MOVE AT ALL VERH HARD...
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON INTERSTATE AFTER WORK A BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICED FOLLOWED BY THE STABILITRAK, ABS AND SERVICE POWER STEERING LIGHTS CAME ON, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE VERY HARD TO TURN. TOOK VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP BELIEVING IT WAS A RECALL DUE TO RESEARCH ONLINE, SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THE RECALL WAS FIXED SO THEY REPROGRAMMED IT. UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, THE BRAKES WERE GRINDING AND ALL THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. TOOK BACK TO SERVICE AND IT'S TAKEN 3 DAYS FOR THEM TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THEY'VE NOW DECIDED IT NEEDS A NEW STEERING GEAR. I'VE RESEARCHED OTHER 2014 IMPALAS HAVING A RECALL ON STEERING GEARS BUT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED? HOW IS THAT? I FEEL IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED SINCE THERE'S BEEN PREVIOUS RECALLS REGARDING THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL STEERING SYSTEM, STEERING MODULES, AND STEERING GEARS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED AND THE AUDIBLE CHIME ACTIVATED. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BALLAS BUICK (5715 WEST CENTRAL AVE, TOLEDO, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROX 70 MPH WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING. TWO WARNING MESSAGES CAME ON STATING THAT THE "POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE SERVICED", THE "STABILITRACK NEEDED TO BE SERVICED" AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. I HAD MY SON AND A NEIGHBOR'S CHILD IN THE CAR WITH ME. IT WAS NOT A SAFE CONDITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE AROUND AND DROVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOYD CHEVROLET CADILLAC BUICK (1875 SPARTANBURG HWY, HENDERSONVILLE, NC 28792) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND DID NOT OFFER FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,729.
ELECTRICAL FAILURES. I EXPERIENCED A FAILURE IN MY STABILITRAK, POWER STEERING AND ABS SYSTEM ON MY 2014 CHEVY IMPALA 2LT. THIS CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER STEERING, AND ABS BRAKE CONTROL, WHICH WHILE DRIVING ON A RAINY SURFACE (IN MA TODAY 3/2 THE WEATHER WAS INSANE) WAS NOT REASSURING. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AS WELL. CHEVY SEEMS TO HAVE ARE RECALL OPEN FOR POWER STEERING, BUT MY VIN SUPPOSEDLY IS NOT IMPACTED DESPITE ME HAVING A POWER STEERING FAILURE. MANY, MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS CAR HAVE BEEN REPORTED, AND YET CHEVY DOES NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS CLEAR SAFETY CONCERN. THANKFULLY THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM ONLY PARTIALLY REDUCED ITSELF, AND DIDN'T COMPLETELY FAIL OR ELSE WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. VERY DANGEROUS AND DISAPPOINTING THAT NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO PROTECT PEOPLE.
ABS AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON 3DAYS AGO
MY 2014 CHEVY IMPALA HAS A POWER STEERING ASSIST PROBLEM. ON ONE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ASSIST AND IT WAS HARD TO CONTROL. WHEN I FINALLY MANAGED TO DRIVE IN A GAS STATION, PARKED FOR A WHILE, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. AFTER LESS THAN A MONTH, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCUR WHEN I HAD GONE TO MY DAUGHTER'S DAYCARE TO PICK HER UP. I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT, WENT IN THE CLASS TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER AND WHEN I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE MY POWER STEERING ASSIST WAS GONE. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE I PARKED THE VEHICLE WAITING FOR A RECALL BUT IT HAS NOT HAPPENED. THE COST OF REPAIR IS SO EXPENSIVE FOR A CAR WITH ONLY ABOUT 40,000 MILES ON IT. I SURELY DESERVE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ASAP.
WHILE DRIVING, THE POWER STEERING, ABS AND STABIITRAK ALL BECAME NONFUNCTIONAL AND THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR ABOUT A WEEK FOLLOWING THE ONSET. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE, WITH NO TURNING INVOLVED.

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE MESSAGE "SERVICE POWER STEERING AND STABILIZING TRACK" DISPLAYED AND THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED, WHICH CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON JANUARY 19, 2018 BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE STEERING SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
I'VE HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY 2014 CHEVY IMPALA LTZ GETTING LOCKED UP WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS STARTED A FEW MONTHS AGO, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURED 09/2017, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH, UPON SWITCHING LANES IT FELT LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL JAMMED AND LOCKED FOR A SECOND AND THE ELECTRICAL POWER WENT OUT ON THE RADIO AND DASH. THE ALERTS THEN SAID "POWER STEERING DRIVE WITH CARE' & "FRONT CAMERA' OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT. THIS HAS HAPPENED VARIOUS TIMES SINCE ON CITY STREETS, ANOTHER MESSAGE I'VE SEEN HAS SAID SOMETHING ABOUT STABILITRAK. THE MOST RECENT EPISODE OCCURED ON 12/25/2017. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND TURNED RIGHT AND THE STEERING WHEEL JAMMED AND THE RADIO WENT OUT AND THE SAME MESSAGES CAME UP, I TOOK A VIDEO...
MY IMPALA 2014 WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE FROM, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AS IF IT WAS THE MUFFLER. THE NOISE COULD ONLY BE HEARD WHILE I WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I HAD MY WIFE STAND OUTSIDE WHILE I DROVE THE VEHICLE DOWN OUR STREET AND THE LOUD NOISE COULD NOT BE HEARD OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE COULD HEAR THE NOISE ONCE THE VEHICLE REACHED 20 MPH. AFTER GETTING THE MUFFLER CHECKED WE FOUND OUT THE MUFFLER WAS IN GOOD CONDITION., BUT SHORTLY AFTER THE IMPALA STARTED MAKING THE LOUD NOISE WE MADE A LEFT TURN AT A SIGNAL LIGHT AND THE ABS, POWER STEERING, AND STABLITRAK SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. THE POWER STEERING HAS GOTTEN INCREASINGLY WORSE SINCE THE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL BEARING FAILED AND THAT THERE WAS NO CONNECTION TO THE POWER STEERING. THE REAR PASSENGER BEARING HUB AND ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX]. THE DEALER REASSURED THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. I EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE TURNING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSIS. THE RESULTS WERE THAT THE THERE WAS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION TO BCM.
DRIVING UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY CONDITIONS THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" "SERVICE STABILITITRACK" MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH, ABS, AND STABILITRAK LIGHTS ALL COMING ON. CAR IS STARTING TO BECOME HARD TO TURN. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND I CALLED GM ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND AFTER WAITING ABOUT 15 MINUTES I STARTED THE CAR BACK THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THIS MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
WHILE DRIVING, STEERING BECOMES STIFF AND POWER STEERING FAILED. UNABLE TO TURN STEERING IN DESIRED DIRECTIONS. MECHANIC DETERMINED BAD STEERING RACK DUE TO SOME COMPONENT WITHIN THE RACK WHICH CANNOT BE REPLACED EXCEPT THE ENTIRE RACK IS REPLACED. ON ONE OCCASION WHEN THE STEERING FAILED, THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND ON THE SECOND AND FINAL OCCASION, THE DRIVER PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SHE RETURNED THE STEERING FAILED.
POWER STEERING, ABS, AND STABILITRAK LIGHTS ALL COMING ON. ONLY 40,000 MILES ON THE CAR. CAR IS STARTING TO BECOME HARD TO TURN. STARTED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WENT THROUGH A LARGE PUDDLE OF WATER.
MY POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING THE STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON AND IT FEELS LIKE MY PARKING BRAKE IS STICKING THERE'S RECALLS FOR ALL THESE ISSUES BUT WHEN I TYPE IN MY VIN IT SAYS THERE'S NO RECALLS FOR MY CAR
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AFTER DOING RESEARCH AND I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THE POWER STEERING. THE CHEVY DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN FIXED. I FEEL THERE IS A FAULTY PART PLACED ON MY CAR DURING THE "FIXING OF THE RECALL" MAKING THE POWER STEERING GO OUT AGAIN. ON JULY 3, 2016 I WAS TRAVELING ON A ROAD (HWY 620 IN LAKEWAY TX) ON A CURVE AT AROUND 50-55 MPH AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT.

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FROM 45-70MPH ON BOTH STRAIGHT, SMOOTH PAVEMENT AND ON WIDE SWEEPING CURVES, THE STEERING "FREEZES" AND REQUIRES A TURN OF THE WHEEL TO REGAIN CONTROL. THIS "FREEZING" FEELS LIKE THE STEERING IS STUCK IN A NOTCH, OR CERTAIN POSITION. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AT LOWER SPEEDS (42 MPH) AND THE EFFORT TO CORRECT THE STEERING RESULTED IN AN OVER-CORRECTION ON THE SLIPPERY ROAD SURFACE CAUSING THE CAR TO SLIDE INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THE CHEVROLET DEALER SAYS THEY "CAN'T DUPLICATE THE CONDITION." THE FIRST TIME THE CONDITION WAS OBSERVED, THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 60S. IT IS MORE FREQUENT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS 20-35 DEGREES. VEHICLE SOLD/LEASED ON 9/3/14 WITH OPEN RECALLS THE CONSUMER STATED TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT HAD TO BE TOWED DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING PARKING BRAKE, WHICH WAS RECALLED. ON NOVEMBER 16,2 014, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE POWER STEERING HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BURN FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
AT 55 MPH ON A SLIPPERY RIGHT HAND SIDE CURVE (SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MPH) VEHICLE UNDER-STEERED AND LOST TRACTION COMPLETELY, WITHOUT TOUCHING THE BRAKES, IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND SKIDDED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CURVE (TO THE LEFT). I TRIED TO GET IT BACK TO THE DRIVING LANE, IT STARTED TO SKID LATERALLY TO THE RIGHT AND SLOWED DOWN UNTIL IT HIT A REFLECTOR POST ON THE EDGE OF THE RIGHT LANE AND STOPPED. VEHICLE INFORMATION ON THE DASH BOARD READ "ICE DETECTED...". ALTHOUGH THE DAMAGE ON THE RIGHT DOOR WAS A VERY MINOR DENT, THE CAR DEPLOYED ALL 4 HEAD CURTAIN AIRBAGS AND 2 RIGHT SIDE AIRBAGS, ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN AND FRONT SEAT-BELTS WERE STUCK. FEW MINUTES LATER, THE ENGINE RAN NORMALLY WITH THE "ICE DETECTED .." MESSAGE STILL ON. IT SEEMS THAT THE AIRBAGS SENSORS WERE ACTIVATED FOR NO REQUIRED REASON FOR A MINOR...
