WE PURCHASED A 2012 CHEVY EQUINOX IN JANUARY 2020. WE TOOK IT FOR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE IN MAY 2020 (MIND YOU, DURING QUARANTINE FROM MARCH TO MAY WE RARELY DROVE IT) AND FOR A KNOCKING ENGINE NOISE, ONLY TO DISCOVER THE ENGINE WAS BURNING OIL. THIS IS APPARENTLY A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT MENTION ANY OF THIS TO US. WE CHECKED FOR RECALLS BUT THIS ISSUE IS NOT LISTED AS A "RECALL". IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER AND WE ARE HAVING IT SERVICED AGAIN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAD THE TIMING CHAIN REPLACED IN MAY. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE MAKES A RATTLING NOISE AND IS LOW ON OIL WHEN WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED JUST FOUR WEEKS AGO. IT IS NOT DRAINING OIL, IT IS BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE.

I CURRENTLY HAVE MY CAR SITTING AT A CHEVY REPAIR SHOP AWAITING SERVICE TOTALING OVER $1800 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY THE RECALL. GM HAS NOT HANDLED THIS RECALL PROPERLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN TO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REGULARLY SCHEDULED VEHICLE OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AT THOSE INTERVALS. NOW THE PCV ORIFICE WAS PLUGGED BY MOISTURE IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD, CAUSING THE MAIN SEAL TO BLOW OUT.
