AFTER HAVE MY MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER, THE MOTOR IS HAVING CAM AND LIFTER PROBLEMS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ONLINE . IN FACT, I NOW NOTICED SEVERAL OTHER RAM TRUCKS DRIVING BY ME IN PARKING LOTS, OR AT STOP LIGHTS THAT HAVE A FAINT VERSION OF WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING. I STARTED NOTICING THIS I LITTLE UPON STARTUP ONLY AND THEN IT BECAME SO BAD OUT OF THE BLUE THAT MY TRUCK STARTED RUNNING BAD AS IT GOT LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR FROM IN THE CAB. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.

DEALERSHIP HAD TROUBLE FINDING THE PROBLEM AND IT IS OUT OF WARANTY SO WILL BE STUCK WITH A $4,000 BILL TO REPLACE CAM/LIFTERS AND STILL HAVE A MOTOR WITH POTENTIAL PROBLEMS AS WHATEVER METAL WAS WORN OFF IS CIRCULTATING THROUGH THE SYSTEM. TOOK IT BACK SAID EVERYTHING TESTED FINE. SECOND SHOP REPLACED UPWARD AND DOWNWARD SENSORS 1100.00. 5 MILES LATER SAME CHECK ENGINE CODE. THIRD SHOP SAID THE COULDNT FIND ANYTHING TO PICK IT UP 200.00. I TOOK IT TO DEALER. AT THIS POINT BAD GAS MILEAGE AND HESITAION...THEY KEPT IT TWO MONTHS AND STATED THEY HAD CHRYSLER ENGINEERS IN THE FIELD HELPING THEM. FINALLY 8 WEEKS LATER, I WAS TOLD THE ONLY THIN THEY THINK IT COULD BE WAS WIRING HARNESS. 1400.00 BUT CANT PROMISE THAT WILL FIX IT. THE BOLTS OR STUDS THAT HOLD THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE BROKE OR SHEARED OFF. THIS PRESENTS A BREAK IN THE ABILITY OF THE ENGINE TO SAFELY TRANSPORT EXHAUST GASES TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. EXHAUST GASES ARE NOW INTRODUCED TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE PASSENGER CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. EXHAUST COULD BE SMELLED IN THE CABIN TO THE VEHICLE AT START UP WHICH MEANS THAT CARBON MONOXIDE COULD BE INTRODUCED TO THE CABIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. SECONDLY, WITH A EXHAUST LEAK OCCURRING AT THE ENGINE BLOCK, EXHAUST GASES ARE BYPASSING THE POLLUTION CONTROL EQUIPMENT WHICH MAY BE A EPA ISSUE. PERFORMED COMPRESSION TEST, FAILED AT 85 PSI. REMOVED DRIVERS CYLINDER HEAD ASSEMBLY. REMOVED LIFTERS AND FOUND CYLINDER #3 INTAKE LIFTER COLLAPSED AND BOTTOM ROLLER LOCKED UP.
